The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful and parking was convenient, if a little pricey.

I did not have anything that registered as a did not like other than the breakfast area was a little tight for a crowded morning -- but that did not create a problem.

Everything. The room was plush, comfy, there was a couch/sitting room and a bed, plus a bathroom. There was a full size refrigerator. It was like a full apartment!

That it’s in Birmingham! I will have to stay there again if I ever head up that way again.

Loved the location near Five Points. Room was comfortable and staff was friendly and helpful. The guy working the breakfast area was absolutely delightful. We were able to find parking on the street so did not have to pay to park in the lot.

Parking! The hotel lot is smaller and only offers minimal street parking. I parked in a no parking zone marked in red on the curb on a corner, and although staff assured me it was ok, I was worried all night about getting towed . Please upgrade your pillows or advise guests to bring their own! They were terrible, but the beds were great!

The hotel was what I wanted, not far from the event I was attending, complimentary breakfast, and close to the airport. We checked in and inquired about restaurants and recommendations, but the front desk attendant, LaDarius(spelling), was least helpful. We ventured out on our own and found a few places that are reputable to Birmingham. Got to see the Civil Rights museum, 17th street church, and the park....all of which we ran out of time to complete. I will be back to see other historical sites in the future!

Terrible stay. Room was not clean. They will charge twice what is advertised. Will take your money for a reservation but once you arrive will charge again saying the “the full cost of the stay” as advertised is actually only a deposit. No where do they tell you this before you arrive, we double checked the fin print. It’s just a scam to get more money for a crappy room.

Convenient location close to downtown and the freeway. It is also just a mile away from nice Homewood neighborhood with great shops and restaurants. The staff was friendly and the room had nice extended stay amenities. It is a good pet friendly option! The overall quality of the property could use some updates but I would recommend this hotel in Birmingham!

The location is downtown and close to the attractions there.

The hotel seems dated, and not as clean as you'd expect. We checked in and I laid across the bed only to end up wet. Urine was soaking the bed and came up into the new sheets... Disgusting. I went to the desk and she got us a new room but said I should've taken pics... The carpets were wet in the hallways. There's not a big main entrance and the parking lot is dark at night. They have a security guard overnight in the parking lot.

There was a staff member that was very rude over the phone. She caught a terrible attitude with me. Other than that everything was great.

Everything about my stay exceeded expectations—from the staff’s warm, welcoming smiles to the spotless rooms and the delicious breakfast each morning. AKA SERC Hospitality! The level of service we received was absolutely phenomenal. From the front desk staff Keke and Darius ingratiating way they answered all our questions and requests, to KD and Cynt in the serving area, to Kim Asst Mgr and Sharne, General mgr we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The decor, their attire, everything reflected AKA. We had an amazing time and felt at home. I travel all over the country on business and have not experienced this level of customer service in a long time. Thank you!!

This Residence made a big impression on me. I had such a wonderful experience during my stay, and I especially want to recognize the staff member KD in the breakfast area. He went above and beyond to make every guest feel genuinely welcome. His kindness, patience, and positive attitude really stood out—it was clear he truly enjoys his job and takes pride in serving others. KD created such a warm and inviting atmosphere each morning, which made a big difference in starting the day off right. It’s not often you come across someone who brings that level of care and energy to their role. Thank you for making the stay even more enjoyable! I also want to highlight LaDarius for making the check-in process so smooth and welcoming. From the moment I arrived, he greeted me with warmth and professionalism. He was helpful, efficient, and set a positive tone for the entire stay.

Web site claims newly renovated. That hasn’t been true for years as demonstrated by the dinginess of the public spaces and my room. They were generous with towels and the kitchen was fairly useable. The room wasn’t dirty but could use a deep cleaning and steam vac. The bed was hard and the TV in the bedroom wasn’t fully functional. Pool is stuffed into a walled space with no room to sit around it. Elite wireless speed was decent but not consistent. The price for what it is seemed fair but as a Marriott it needs some extra attention.

Been staying mostly here since the neighbors across the street cancelled our reservations after calling to confirm we still need the reservations. The staff here is very helpful and friendly. They do not act like you are bothering them if you need anything or have any questions. Close to Kirklin and other UAB buildings. Complimentary breakfast with something for everyone. Rooms are nice and spacious - two eye stove, full refrigerator, dishwasher, garbage disposal, and some rooms have tubs. Not far from several restaurants.

Keke at the front desk was super helpful and always cheerfully greeted us. The breakfast was delicious and the staff worked hard to keep the tables clean and food stocked. Great experience overall!

We had another great stay at the Residence Inn. Clean, comfy and quiet. Ladarius was so welcoming. I at at the he nearby Fish Market restaurant! We shall return!

If the hotel website says: 'Free Coffee/Tea in Lobby', the surely that means 24/7 and NOT "JUST AT BREAKFAST" as the front desk clerk said to me tonight. I'd be happy to make my own if they provided hot water and milk. Otherwise no major complaints. Breakfast is very typical of this type of hotel - badly made scrambled eggs and some kind of grey meat, cereals (mostly sugary), blah oatmeal, and breads/pastries. Plus the ubiquitous waffle maker. Rooms are very spacious and well appointed with full kitchen. Weirdly - no tea bags provided but there is popcorn! And no kettle for boiling water. Few good eating places nearby. I gave five stars, but only just! Mainly for the room. Blackout curtains could be better organised. Aircon OK although a bit loud.

I usually use a Hilton property when Im in Birmingham for my yearly checkup at UAB, but this time I decided to stay at the Courtyard this time. Ill be staying at the Courtyard from now on. They have a phenomenal staff! Keke went above and beyond helping me when I got there with my reservation.

We stayed at this hotel for one night and quite honestly it was a great experience. After a mix up with our rooms and arrival dates we were so happy to have met Keke! Wow! She was professional, calm, methodical and most importantly so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Keke is an asset to this hotel, a wonderful human. This is my first time in Birmingham Alabama and I am looking forward to visiting again. I will stay at this hotel again based on Keke’s professionalism. Even the gentleman operating at breakfast was so friendly and had such a nice, kind manner!

Location was great. Room was spotless clean. 2.2 Mile walk to Legacy Arena, but was manageable with a leisure pace.

We had such an awesome stay at this location! Kristi was so friendly and accommodating, and the facilities are nice, clean, and well maintained. Our room was huge! Will definitely be back again when in Birmingham!

I had a confirmed reservation at this hotel for tonight, 2/5/2026, for one night. When I arrived this afternoon to check in, I was told—without any prior notice—that my reservation had been canceled. I received no email, no text, nothing. The hotel had overbooked and had no rooms available. I was left standing there as a Marriott customer with absolutely no options, no explanation, no remorse, and no sympathy. This experience was infuriating and completely unacceptable. I deeply regret being a Marriott Bonvoy member.

I had the pleasure of staying here for a short conference for work. While waiting for a shuttle, I was blown away with the professionalism of Kristi at the front desk. She listened to every guest request and was so smart to think about and prompt the inevitable next question. She clearly cares for her work and for the guest experience. The way Booking.com handle things we made reservations through Booking.com but Booking.com failed to set it up with the Motel. So we had no reservations. Never will use Booking.com again.

The staff were great, breakfast was good, and the shared amenities were nice (gym, lobby)

Our room was poorly cleaned, Lots of dog hair on the floor and sofa. Soiled comforter - the housekeeping staff changed out our bedding for us.

The breakfast was ok. I would've liked more options the both times I stayed. Like more fruit and more protein options but it was okay for what was offered.

The extra $26.00 fee for parking that I wasn't made aware of.

The last night around 9:30 front desk receptionist was amazing and soooo polite when I check in every question I had she was willing to answer and was so patient with me

Location was very convenient, relaxing, friendly atmosphere, room was super clean, value was very reasonable. Service from all staff was superb, Keke was extremely helpful and friendly. Noise level was what to be expected since we were near the hospital. Amenities were great. Overall best hotel experience in a while especially with customer service.
