Breakfast Friendly staff Spacious room Quiet location Sauna
Outside spa pool needs smartening up and a set of jets didn't work. Someone slamming a door half a dozen tiles between 6am - 7am
Nice spa and good location
Dated rooms and bed was not that comfortable. Too expensive for what we got.
spar seemed nice and food were nice location was good.
we was there for a mini brake wasn't made clear how to book treatments in spar, room was not what we wanted would have paid for a upgrade if asked.
A beautiful hotel in a gorgeous setting. Staff were extremely attentive and looked after us well during our short stay
Breakfast was good
Dogs in hotel
The location is good and the surrounding area is lovely.
Unfortunately the building is tired and needs investment. The staff were pleasant enough but lacked training and there was no management presence visible. Breakfast was a huge disappointment, the omelette I ordered was in edible and the coffee was like dish water.
Location and setting
Bed was not particularly comfortable- looked like a fold away camp bed
Room was spacious. Check-in and out was ok. Food was nice. Spa was good standard
Grounds were untidy. Breakfast service was attrocious. No USB charging ports in room. Spa is tucked away in a lower ground floor and is difficult to navigate
The outdoor spa pool was lovely. Beautiful building but a bit tired. Staff friendly and helpful with booking a taxi.
Booked a deluxe double as a treat with my husband and expected it to be lovely considering the price. The room was very small and didn't look anything like the photos on the internet. The bed was small - double size which is rare nowadays and it said on the booking it was a large double bed which wasn't true. The room was pretty run down, very small bathroom too. Curtains were torn with damp stains on them which wasn't very nice. Room furniture was showing its wear. Breakfast was very mediocre - no frills and pretty basic. Coffee was awful too. Would not recommend.
Breakfast 5 out of 10
Breakfast eggs overdone
Beautiful grounds
Very old spa facilities which is big shame So much potential there with the space
The grounds
No food / breakfast - small room with spring out bed. Up 3 flights of stairs - room was dirty.
Excellent staff. Lovely gardens. Nice spa facilities.
A little disappointed with the room which was described as superior with a garden view. It didn't have a garden view and was up a steep flight of stairs.
Wonderful location, accommodation was clean and comfortable
The Restaurant was closed and only informed of this on arrival. I went for the Breakfast included option and breakfast consisted of cereal, fruit and toast, very poor
Beautiful grounds comfortable rooms
Despite being there for three days unable to have treatments because was not told no treatments on a Tuesday and and all treatments booked on Wednesday were cancelled due to repairs in the kitchen. just before we checked it on the Monday we were told the ceiling in the kitchen fell in so they would be no hot meals, given a continental breakfast, which meant dry pastries, toast and cereal
Staff, location, totally dog friendly, breakfast
Nothing
The staff is nice. The lobby is alright.
Tiny rooms with tiny beds. The decor is very tired and in need of renovation. The toilet didn’t flush. We also had swarms of flies inside our bedside lamps. The food at breakfast was very underwhelming.
Location, which was main reason for booking.
The room was very dated. Carpets stained. Limescale all on shower screen and taps. Expected more for the price.
Stunning grounds
Filthy and staff were awful as was the food
The service was amazing - everyone was so friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and all cooked freshly to order. The rooms were well equipped, especially the air conditioning which was well needed! - and the bed was very comfy. The hotel is very clean and well decorated. I shall definitely be staying again.
A bonus would have been a fridge in the room.
So relaxing and peaceful Really loved the grounds Staff were amazing I had a masssge also very good Definitely be back It was a perfect 2 night stay
Not enough light in the bedroom
Quiet,lovely grounds and breakfast
Bathrooms need updating plus soft furnishings in Hampton bedroom
Acogedor, elegante y personal muy amable, además de un desayuno excelente.
Hubiese preferido una ducha a la bañera.
Excellent breakfast and very pleasant service. Good start to the day
Great staff they were all really helpful
The food was not the best, the steak was over cooked and the chips under cooked but the English breakfast was 1st class. The room we had was in need of a refurbishment And they was a service charge on drinks that they put on even when we went to the bar and ordered them ourselves and carried them back to the table
Lovely decor, really nice public areas and grounds. Did a lovely 4-mile walk from there
Wi-Fi was really poor
A very beautiful hotel with an outstanding suite! The staff are so friendly, we spoke to some of them after dinner, they couldn’t have done more for us, we can’t wait to come back.
I would have loved a swim in a big pool, but loved the outdoor aqua pool which is essentially a very large hot tub.
The staff were all really friendly and professional, especially Peter who was always smiling and always ready to help. True Ambassador of the hotel. Thanks Peter
I would have given it 10/10 had it not been for the very poor mattress in the extra bed. I had read the reviews but didn’t expect it would be quite as bad as the other guests had commented. But sadly it really was very bad and VERY uncomfortable. The management should take note and change those extra bed mattresses But couldn’t fault the staff - they were all great
It was lovely and clean
Very big lovely lawns
Excellent service
Limited menu choice
Staff were really attentive and the ground floor is well looked after
Significantly overpriced for the room. The suite was extremely dated and not terrible, but needs an upgrade. The light was hanging off the ceiling, furniture dated, stains on the carpet and the spa wasn’t really ‘a spa’ … more a small sauna and a small outdoor pool. Not a terrible room, but definitely not worth the £300 a night.
N/A
not many staff in the normal working time and many cleaners at the early morning.
Location was nice and the setting was beautiful and tranquil
The evening meal was a 1/10. Me and my colleagues were extremely disappointed to be paying so much for a meal but receiving poor effort and tasting food. The photos give the impression that this is high end dining, it isn’t! The food is served in over complicated and rich sides. The fish batter was anaemic in colour and tasted ‘ok’. Just not what I expected from a high end perceived restaurant.
Our room looked very tired. Stained carpets, stained walls, very small double bed, frayed lampshade, poor supply of toiletries, good job I took my own, very disappointed.
As above
The hotel staff was very nice and friendly. The rooms were very nice and clean. The service at breakfast was very slow but the food very good.
The jacuzzi was nice. Nice breakfast.
The room furnishings were very old and dated. The bed was very small, toliet didn't work. Cracks in the sink.
Well maintained, clean, comfortable. Helpful, flexible staff and management.
Nothing
Excellent facilities. Welcoming staff
The hotel has potential to be a very nice hotel sadly it is run terribly and would not recommend anyone stays here.
I booked this hotel for the night before my wedding. I firstly booked through booking.com and then the hotel made contact and asked me to cancel and book direct through them which I did. I booked 4 rooms at this hotel one being the bridal suite. I specifically requested the bridal suite as I wanted my morning photographs in there. The hotel confirmed this and informed me they would decorate it for me. I called to confirm my booking 4 times as I had booked a year in advance and wanted everything perfect. My last call being a week before we checked in. I was given my room key and entered a ‘suite’ that was most definitely not the bridal suite. It was a larger bedroom with a sofa in it. One window, therefore a very dimley lit room. I had to ensure the makeup artisit brought extra lighting because it was too dark to do makeup in. The room itself was shabby, broken sink, dirty carpet and noisy! When I challenged the staff she smirked and said “we are fully booked sorry” despite me booking that room as soon as it became available a year prior. I requested an extra portion of pastry’s and coffees to the room in the morning and was told there would be a £5 fee. My parents arrived back that evening and found their key wasn’t working, no one was to be seen in the hotel for 2 hours! They could not access their room. This must be against all health and safety regulations because I dread do think if there had been a fire what could have happened. This hotel is a SCAM and if taken over by new management would have potential but until then I would absolutely avoid!
The hotel was dirty and noisy.
The room service was disgusting and not edible.
Food was terrible.
Food, was terrible.
Set in beautiful grounds. Charming period features. Room was clean & well equipped. Had a comfortable nights sleep under sumptuous bedding.
Lovely location and very quiet. Comfortable bed.
Needs money spending on it - outside looks tired Check in not thorough - not told about facilities, spa and restaurant. Bedroom was very tired with some broken furniture, but the bed was very comfy. Dated bathroom. Got the feeling there are not enough staff in the hotel. Dining room carpet needs cleaning. Evening meal in restaurant was lovely, but service very slow. Breakfast menu VERY limited - no cereals or fresh fruit. Weak watery coffee. Only 4 hot mains available. Once my choice was served I never saw the waitress again! Disappointing!
The breakfast was excellent, as was the dinner!77-
A lift would be nice
The room was a bit pricey but was lovely - very nice and quite big. The shower was also a good size. Would happily return.
No lift! But only being up a couple of not big flights of stairs made it easier.
Beautiful hotel in amazing location Fabulous staff Very clean Welcoming to small dog
It was not clear (enough) on booking that on Saturdays, you can’t just book the room, but you are also paying for a 3-course dinner! Which cannot be refunded if you can’t eat in the restaurant…and then the room was in the attic (2 flights of narrow steep stairs) and the bed was essentially a pull out bed from the wall (with doors either side ). So not a spring bed but very very soft ….i had expected more for £370 for 1 night
The location, staff, lobbies
The rooms were outdated and especially the bathrooms with only bathtubs and no shower cubicles. Slippery bathtubs, lack of space between toilet and bath, shower adequate.
Very relaxing and very well kept.
The only thing I would change would be king size beds in deluxe rooms.
Friendly and professional service 😄

Room was clean and quiet but quite dated. Bottled water supplied and tea & coffee facilities in room. Bed comfortable. Hotel is classic country mansion style in pleasant grounds.
No cereals or fruit for breakfast. Service in restaurant generally very slow although not especially busy. Only 4 coat hangers in room for 2 guests, but at least not the horrible anti-theft type. There is no lift so bedrooms only accessible via several flights of stairs - not ideal for those with mobility issues. Dinner menu choice very limited and wine expensive. I recommend dining at The Oak and Saw pub just a couple of minutes drive away.
needs up dating run down
a full refurb
Location
The evening meal was very poor
The room was very clean. The bed and pillows very comfortable, also. Breakfast was included and provided a good selection. The eggs florentine was delicious. I had a massage in the spa which lovely.
Nothing.
The room was lovely. Decor, cleanliness, maintenance were all as expected to a high standard.
The coldest setting on the shower tap still ran warm. I like a cool shower and was not able to have this in Eton Room.
Beautiful property. Lovely spacious room . Relaxing stay in beautiful grounds. Nice staff. The weather was beautiful, so having the spa was great. Lots of towels and loungers for spa
Changing room corridors a little cramped. Spa very basic.
Great spa facilities set in a beautiful country house hotel. The dining experience was excellent and good value.
The whole hotel feels understaffed, although the staff that are there were hard working and courteous. A few more staff would significantly improve the overall experience.
We loved the sheets. They were clean and the bed well made.
The bed itself was too small. We tried to move rooms but there were no other rooms with bigger beds. It just doesn’t make sense to have such small beds for two people.
Room was lovely, although a climb up the back stairs. Bed was Comfortable. Breakfast good. The setting and grounds were superb an oasis in west London. Treatments were good as was the spa
Would be better if it had a Gym
The service, staff, afternoon tea and breakfast were all excellent. Very clean, a beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting.
The only disappointment was a double bed - not even a kingsize and for a tall couple, it meant we hardly slept and were very uncomfortable. A member of staff showed us the only empty room and that had the same sized bed sadly. Not what we expected from such a beautiful hotel.
the room we were first given had a small double bed inside a wardrobe on metal legs in the attic!.. not nice at all. They moved us next door to a room which at least had a proper bed but still very tired and tatty ... the wardrobe door was hanging off! The hotel was clearly not full but they still gave us the worst room in place in the attic!
Tired and dated
Incredibly lovely staff. Beautiful surroundings. Very good breakfast 🥞
Small double bed. Hubby had to tighten some loose bolts and screws.
So called ‘Double rooms’ only fit one person standing up and forget any luggage beyond a tooth brush. Our stay was preceded by multiple un-answered emails followed by inadequate and incoherent replies capturing the incompetence of the transient staff this poorly run establishment can only momentarily retain.
Good location old house
Clean and tidy

What guests love
Areas to consider
Cleanliness
6/10Mixed reports: several reviews call rooms and public areas dirty or filthy (stained carpets, limescale, issues like flies and a non-flushing toilet), while others describe clean accommodation.
Service
10/10Mostly excellent: numerous mentions of friendly, helpful and outstanding staff; a few isolated reports of poor staff behaviour, but service is a consistently praised feature.
Location
10/10Very strong: repeatedly praised for beautiful grounds, lovely gardens, peaceful setting and convenient location (e.g., proximity to Fat Duck).
Room Quality
6.5/10Mixed: some rooms comfortable and well equipped (good beds, A/C), but many comments about tiny, dated rooms, tired decor, stained carpets and steep stairs.
Amenities
6.5/10Mixed/underperforming: grounds, walks and dog-friendly policy praised, but spa and treatment availability and some facilities were old, cancelled or closed (restaurant closure, cancelled treatments).
Value for Money
7/10Mixed perception: a headline called it 'value for money' and some guests would return, but others felt the condition and service did not match the price paid.
Food and Beverage
6.5/10Mixed but leaning negative: multiple complaints about poor breakfasts, overcooked or undercooked dishes and a closed restaurant; several positive notes mention excellent cooked-to-order meals and breakfasts.
Overall Experience
7.5/10Overall mixed: standout positives are staff and grounds, but operational issues (restaurant closure, cancelled treatments), dated rooms and inconsistent cleanliness produce a middling overall stay.
