Protea Hotel by Marriott O R Tambo Airport

Location and price

Old and needed renovations

Super Lage zum Flughafen!

Alles ansonsten gut!

Hotel davvero bello a tema aeroporto.

Convenience to airport.

Open bathroom In bedroom.

Comodo per aeroporto e partenza tour per Safari

Shuttle to airport exactly on time. Friendly and supportive staff Room sufficient for the need of accommodation did not have breakfast Airport 5mintute drive which is very nearby.

Nothing negative

It was ok

Portions too large, smaller portions not available

The Hotel is conveniently situated near OR Tambo Int. Airport for a stopover night. The service and food were very good.

The room was a little bit cramped, but ok for one night. The shower was very slippery and could be dangerous.

Room was not clean , not toilet brush in bathroom , TV not working , hairdryer not working shower dirty , bed configuration not correct

It is what it is, i.e. an airport hotel which most people will use for only one night and, as such, is fine. The room was quite small and storage limited, but 'fit for purpose'. Similarly, the food in the restaurant was okay. Importantly, the bed was comfortable, there was a good supply of hot water and the air conditioning/heatering unit worked well.

The shuttle bus service that the hotel provides is obviously an important feature and selling point for the hotel. The fact that seats cannot be booked in advance - there was a concern that there might be more people than seats - made us a little anxious. I suggest the hotel give this some thought.

conveniently located near the airport. Clean hotel airport. Nothing exceptional

Good bar and food, very well equipped gym, interesting decor throughout, excellent free airport shuttle both ways..

Nothing

Clean and staff were very attentive

The overhead lights in the bedroom were very bright

The room was very comfortable and had what was required for a short stay.

The shower was disappointing - no water pressure - water was trickeling from the showerhead

This worked well for us to catch our early morning flight

My room had a bit of a bad smell, which disappeared once I opened the window. The floor was badly damaged in front of the window between the bed.

Location and friendly staff

The walls are so thin we could hear the person next door loud and clear including his wakeup call that went on for 15 minutes with loud music from the radio.

Close proximity to the airport and the shuttle service is great.

The cleanliness was below what I’d expected.

The hotel is close to the airport, which was very convenient for us as we had a connecting flight the following morning. The airport shuttle service worked perfectly and made our stay even more convenient. We would definitely consider staying here again.

None

We had a lovely stay at the Protea Hotel! The room was comfortable, the service was great, and it was a fantastic option for an airport hotel. The breakfast buffet was absolutely beautiful with a great selection, and very reasonably priced. A really convenient and enjoyable stay — we would happily stay here again!

Clean and close to the airport

The food could use some improvement

Close to Airport

Food ((Steak) , wrong bill, unfriendly staff

I didn't like the two single beds

Close to the airport, staff is very friendly and the rooms are very clean and bed comfortable. Convenient shuttle

The worst hotel we have ever experienced. Reservations totally uncommunicative when corespondents with flight delay

Reception when checking in at 2am after sending an email to advise our flight from Nairobi had been delayed by over 1 hour. Asked for a latter check out because our flight back to Australia was in the afternoon. Advised 11am was the best they could do we an extra cost of 600 rand. Reception staff the most rude and disrespectful ever experienced no empathy with our situation. Went to the Intercontinental which meet all our needs and expectations.

The reception staffs were really helpful. Katlego gave us a warm welcome and helped in exchanging currency. The absolute bonus is their shuttle service to and from airport at every half n hour and can be used by the guests as and when required. The theme of the restaurant and the room are very interesting, everything has a touch of aviation theme. The restaurant is also very modern with good food options on the menu. I personally liked the Oxtail from the menu. Portion size is good. Rooms are decent side with work table alongside and electricity plug points. The bed was good for a comfortable sleep. The gym at the property is also well maintained and good for 1-2 days workout for proper cardio and resistance training. They have a good pool too, but we didn't use it.

Constant humming sound from the airport, though you will get used to it. The dinner buffet might seem value for money, but the food on offer was not that great. I would suggest going for their a la carte options. No temperature control in the swimming pool.

Convenient for an overnight layover.

The rooms are not soundproof

I was very stressed driving here at 11 at night it said 400 m from airport but it was 12-15 minutes drive and it stressed me out

I wanted to order food and something to drink but the staff was ONE , and the food I wanted to order was not there ? took me over an hour to get 2 drinks

The art works and design of the hotel . Very detailed

The Waterfront location

Poor service . Very ordinary restaurant options Poor communication about what was available in the Hotel

Rooms are very noisy

The staff is very friendly and very professional. Room service has a great selection of food. The bed was extremely comfortable and was able to rest.

The shuttle driver did not seem interested in helping when I needed a lift from the airport to the hotel. He was friendly afterwards when he dropped me off at the hotel.

Cleanliness and staff

Duvets are very thin and both pillows hard.

Close to airport and free shuttle

Nothing

The modern look & so near the airport

Location to airport, shuttle bus, knew staff from previous visits

NA

The friendly staff and the hospitality

Room service was a bit slow as well as the cleaning service

Excellent retro fit out, clean, great sound proofing so close to the airport, room window could be opened for fresh air, great breakfast & excellent check-in procedure.

Nothing!

Prima Unterkunft am Flughafen. Alles Notwendige vorhanden, sauber und sicher. Sehr freundliches Personal.

Location, bad area

I did enjoy my stay at Protea. I will come back soon. Thank you for your continued hospitality.

More variety on cereals for breakfast, like maltabella porridge, I was looking forward to enjoying it, otherwise I was happy with everything. Thank you.

Convenient for the airport

Not much soundproofing

Good food

I booked 2 rooms with King size beds but got only 1

Free shuttle to and from airport every 30mins. Very accessible. Staff and service was friendly and efficient.

Hotel room was on the older side but clean and tidy

Great breakfast, proximity to airport. Good shuttle bus service.

Nil complaints

Snack dinner

Navette, proximité, professionnalisme

Mérite un coup de jeune

Proximity

Choice of restuarants

The hotel is in a prime location, just a 10-minute drive from the airport. A complimentary shuttle runs every 30 minutes.

No.

Breakfast amazing. Location to airport

Super lokalizacja dobry standard

The airport shuttle is on time every 30 minutes, which is the main reason we booked this hotel. Very nice room -- but a rather odd arrangement with the shower and sink in the room behind a curtain, with a separate toilet. Clean and very comfortable. The staff were wonderful very helpful and friendly. Food in the restaurant was great, but huge portions! Highly recommended as an airport stopover.

There isn't much around the hotel -- i.e. shops and restaurants within easy walking distance.

Os funcionários foram muito prestativos

Nada

Makkelijke airport shuttle. Vriendelijk personeel.

The staff were amazing and extremely friendly. The room was beautiful and very comfortable. I love the aviation themes.

Everything was great

Conveniently located near the airport so a great choice if transiting and you need some rest. Easily accessible too, as the hotel offers a complimentary bus shuttle, very much appreciated after a long flight. The overall service was excellent. I had requested a quiet room, the one i got initially was very noisy but as soon as I let staff know they were happy to accommodate the requested change. Breakfast buffet offered many options. Most importantly though, all staff members were professional, polite and happy to assist.

Dichtbij de luchthaven. Goede busverbinding

Beetje sleets hotel en lawaaierig

Good location close to the airport. Comfortable room. The restaurant was good, nice steaks cooked just right. The breakfast was good with plenty of choices for both hot and cold food.

A small thing but the bar only had one bottle of Castle beer. There was a fridge full of Budweiser and lots of other foreign stuff. If I am in South Africa l would rather drink the local brew,

Outside view

The cleanliness was not prioritized.Second floor there were dishes outside the room till morning ,The food was not nice .The staff takes forever to attend you when you need drinks .

Very convenient as close to airport

Nothing significant

Staff were very helpful and free shuttle to and from airport was great.

Good service by the shuttle driver. Felt safe. Breakfast was nice.

AC was not working. The additional blanket we requested was very dirty. The shower head was not working properly.

The location and free shuttle

Nothing!

Shuttle to and from airport. The staff, the food and amazing airport styled decor.

The funny shower set up in the rooms. Separate loo, but shower is separated from sleeping area by a curtain only. Apart from that, all great.

I did not like the shower This week we will stay somewhere else The price for a small room was to expensive

That the bathroom was part of the room with only a cutain for privacy I did not like it

Such a clean and comfortable hotel. The best part is that room service is available 24/7, which makes the stay more convenient.Highly recommended!

Lekker dichtbij de airport

Beetje gedateerd

I had a good alone time

room was comfortable and bed very comfortable and clean. the rest standard. staff was ok. location ok. otherwise the rest quite basic standard. food was ok.

rooms very small. and bathroom could be separate to the room for the price.

The airport pick-up and drop-off were very efficient.

Friendly staff

Thandazo at the front desk went above and beyond to help us. What a star!!! Give that young lady some credit for sure.

Nulla

The rooms were clean

Nothing

It was quiet.

They charged me extra. Not the innitial amount

Shuttle service and reception team were excellent

No gown in room requested it but not received slippers received Internet confusing called reception team many times but they were helpful 👍 No free breakfast as promised by booking .com - apparently Marriott Pritea do not offer this even thought you promised this to me 😡

Our rooms were not prepared even though we arrived after 10pm
