The Hotel on Pownal was a great deal and a relaxing spot to stay! The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was so welcoming and accommodating. It is well positioned for roaming downtown or for getting to Victoria Park for a stroll or the Confederation Trail for a cycle or run.

We stayed a night after our flight into PEI. Was immediately disappointed by the exterior of the hotel, the door fronts and outside appear run down. There were some flower boxes but for the price I thought could have been more welcoming appeared to be a motel not hotel. However the room was clean and had everything you could need. Staff was super nice and breakfast was delicious hot real food.

Location was perfect, close to everything.

We had a suite, great space but they lost the opportunity to update the bathroom when they updated the room. It is very small.

Beautiful, quaint hotel located in the heart of Charlottetown. Fabulous customer service and daily hot breakfast. Charlottetown is a walking city, and why not walk the boardwalk daily to enjoy the harbour breeze and red shores while you explore the restaurants and coffee shops on Victoria Row, a 10-minute walk from the hotel on Pownal.

Excellent location, excellent breakfast. Free glass of beer between 5 and 6 PM a bonus. I suggest clients request a top floor room, to avoid the clump clump clump clump of peoples feet from the upper room. Obviously, during building, they skimped on between-floor insulation. Ridiculous. We had no hot water for the first night, due to situations out of control from the hotel. The manager did give us a 20 % reduction for one night for the inconvenience.

My partner and I stayed here for one night, on Sunday, July 19. The room itself was wildly small... will say the bed was quite comfortable. The hotel was in a good location - within walking distance to downtown Charlottetown. I think 'hotel' isnt necessarily a true depiction of what this place is. It's a motel. The breakfast was mediocre at best but I will say my partner went down about 20 mins before it was over. Our bill for 1 night was $452.09. for 1 night in a small room. Wouldn't return here because of the price alone. This is gouging and for that price there are actual hotels that are IN the downtown core, even closer than this place. It wasn't the worst. Wasn't the best. But absolutely not a place that's worth just under $500 for 1 night.

Awesome location, close to fabulous restaurants and shops. Room was clean and comfortable. Front desk service was great, finding a ground floor room suitable for my mobility constraints. Hotel even has laundry room available. Highly recommend!

The staff was amazing. We were travelling with our dog and it was super pet friendly, they even gave her a toy, a snack and some poopy bags. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and super clean. They have a happy hour every day where you get to tastes local beers and wine for free. The continental breakfast was also great. Well situated in Charlottetown, you can walk to downtown. They have a free level 2 ev charger, which was definitely a plus for us!

Small rooms and common areas had an “old” smell. Had to ask for the room floors to be recleaned. Not cheap for what you get compared to the rest of the maritimes.

Great family suite with a great location. The complementary breakfast was wonderful. It included gluten free toast and eggs.

I loved the comfy beds and the pillows. So comfortable. I loved how The Pownal provided some little extras..snacks, drinks information on where to eat etc. I loved that the parking was right there on the property. It was a very quiet hotel in a good location and I would definitely stay again.

While the breakfast provided was fantastic, we did not like the red and green peppers in the scrambled eggs. There was only sausage provide and we don't eat sausage. There were lots of other choices provided though. Being up on the second floor, we had some stairs and doors to go through to have access to our room. No elevators here. We were the first room on a walk across balcony, so there were lots of people walking by our room and window at certain times which was sometimes a little noisy for a few minutes.

We could not have asked for a better location for our stay. The hotel is walking distance to everything you could want to see in Charlottetown! The rooms were spotless and the breakfast was fantastic!

The room cost $510 a night. However, the carpet in the room had an extremely bad smell and clearly needed steam cleaning. The floor in the bathroom was dirty. The extractor fan in the bathroom was not functional. The carpet immediately outside the room contained multiple large holes and was obviously a trip hazard. There was no safe in the room for storing valuables - furthermore, the check-in desk folk had no where to store valuables.

The hotel was in an ideal location. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was good.

We arrived to find out we booked the hotel for same dates next year, and they were sold out! The staff was so friendly and understanding. Have us coffee, ordered a taxi to another hotel, and even received a package we had sent here the day before! I will stay here next time I am in Charlottetown.

Location was one block from the main downtown Queen Street Walkable to the harbour and restaurants and COWS ice cream Hotel and room were very clean Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful Shoutout to Rafael for carrying all our luggage to our room and then still had a smile for us The included breakfast served eggs, sausage, fresh fruit, pastries, breads etc

Our first time to PEI and our stay at your hotel was beyond my expectations. Staff was friendly, room was clean and updated and we were in the perfect location, within 5 min. walking distance to shops and Victoria Row. Would definitely recommend. Thank you.

This is a great hotel. Clean modern and very quiet rooms. It’s pretty much in the centre of Charlotteville, PEI but it’s off the main street, so you’re not disturbed by passing traffic or pedestrians. Plenty of parking available. Breakfast is a typical buffet style, but there’s plenty of it and everything is fresh and hot. They even boil their own eggs, not bought in. The staff are all very friendly and professional, and on Saturday 13th June, front desk staff were Sits and Vivian, who were both incredibly helpful and went out of their way to make my life easier. Exceptional customer service.

Powell is pronounced "pawn-ell". Quiet, had large corner suite with air-jet tub (full 5 foot), well lit bathroom. Very comfy bed and pillows. Paid a bit more that other hotels, but worth it. True leather sofa was surprisingly comfortable too. Lvp flooring wasn't just swept, but cleaned before our visit. FREE breakfast offered hot and cold options. Location is within walking distance to downtown and waterfront. Free parking. FREE alcoholic drink, 1/pp (guest) during happy hour from front desk. Effecient check in and out. Close to Chambers, (right across the street) fine dining at reasonable on pocketbook in sophicated atmosphere. No elevator, so be forewarned.

Excellent location! Breakfast was lovely and the hardworking lady with the black hair was lovely to speak to. I would stay here again. I had questions for the front desk but I noticed the 2 girls working the front desk this morning were too busy on their phones and chatting. My advice to people is to email or phone instead. I guess young people do not like to work nowadays.

Room size, beds and furniture were good size. Parking was good, close to restaurants etc so didn't need to drive anywhere downtown it was all easy walking.

The furniture (chairs) need a steam clean - some stains? And our room randomly has sequin/party glitter on the floor, tub and ceiling still - I assume it was a bachelorette party or something the weekend prior to our days there.

The Hotel on Pownal is in an ideal location for walking to any location in the historic and Wharf areas. It is also near many walking and biking trails. Unfortunately, although they advertise bike rentals, upon our arrival for a five (5) day stay there were none available. We did observe two (2) boxed bicycles on the Thursday we arrived and saw them sit there until our departure. Apparently their staff was unable to find any personnel to assemble them. Housekeeping is only offered upon request, that means in the five (5) days we were there, no one changed the linens, towels or cleaned the room without asking for it, not a pleasant feeling. We did have to have the room vacuumed on our second day as we had ants crawling around on our floor, one of them biting my wife in our bed. The staff is very polite and responsive to requests, but there didn't seem to be a formal routine for operations regarding guests comfort. They do offer a one (1) beverage (beer or wine) happy hour from 5 to 6 PM, a nice touch. A complimentary full breakfast is also available every day and includes a wide variety of choices which are always kept fully stocked. We had a late afternoon departure flight on a the Tuesday of our departure and I requested a late checkout at the front desk. I met with a stern, we can extend it to 12 PM from 11 AM. but no later. Rather than continue, I asked them to forward my request to the manager who within an hour allowed a 1 PM checkout the folowing day, very nice. Again it seems all good things there came with a little caveat. By that I mean on our departure day we went for a lovely walk and returned to our room around 11 AM, hoping for an hour or so of rest prior to checking out. Unfortunately, the Front Desk called our room 45 minutes later and asked us what time our checkout was. Really???? so much for a quick nap. I asked the staff member why she called to find out our late checkout time and she said she wasn't sure and forgot to "check our notes" for that information. Again, little things that leave a bad taste. Overall, I would recommend the Hotel on Pownal for its location, and amenities once they all are available. Charlottetown is a fun city and the Hotel on Pownal gives you great access to the heart of it.

Great location in downtown Charlottetown with parking! Walk to restaurants and the harbour within 7 minutes, easy access to the rest of the island from an amazing home base. Great breakfast, friendly staff and clean, modern rooms. Loved our suite, two bedrooms, two doors on the patio/driveway level made it simple to load our gear in and out. Windows that open are a great feature!!

While the personnel and service were wonderful our room was not, there was a slight odour to the room upon entry and the bed was very worn down . . . quite a downhill slope to it!

The complimentary drink during happy hour was a nice bonus. Got to try some local local Lone Oak beer which was amazing.

Great location right downtown, perfect for business I was conducting at an office building nearby. My room was clean and nice and quiet, parking was easy and included. Breakfast was great. Front desk staff were friendly. It’s my second time staying at this property, It’s a bit of a hidden gem I think!

The lady at the front desk who checked me in was super nice. I’ve never had a hotel give my dog a little goody bag and it was just so sweet. Took the hospitality to the next level.

Pros: Good price, the room is clean, location is walking distance to downtown restaurants and sites, staff is friendly, free drink at happy hour Mon - Fri. Cons: Room walls are very thin so you can hear everything in the hall and adjoining rooms. Despite the hotel not being busy we were woken up every night (3 nights) by guest making lots of noise until very late 4:45 one night, 3:30 the next night, etc. I suspect that the door to a balcony area was being used as a smoking area at all hours of the night. The breakfast bar is adequate but not well attended so it runs out of food items and coffee often. Overall: If you want a budget hotel for a short stay and can deal with noise or ask staff if a quiet room is possible this may suit you. I won't stay here again.

Maybe offer the complimentary drinks any time instead of just between 5-6 since there are no free bottled water in the room. Didn’t get the complimentary drink a couple of reservation back because it was maybe few mins after 6. Could’ve been nice after a 3-hr travel time to the hotel.

Another great stay. Good location, clean rooms, useful amenities and nice to be able to grab breakfast. Some upgrades were underway during our stay - HVAC.

A lot of options for breakfast. Love their complimentary drink. I appreciate the small thing like a quality toothbrush that they have. The people at the reception are always accommodating, pleasant and kind. Also, it’s like you have your own big dining area.

The "Hotel on Pownal" is rather s small hotel in the heart of PEI's capital Charlottetown. I was welcomed very friendly by the receptionist in the evening who also gave me lots of precious information for my trip on the island the day after. This time, I booked a "suite" for only a few CAD more, which is very much worthwhile any dollar. Very spacious and bright (got a suite right at the corner to the main street) with a nice tube. Upon check-in I also used the small gym which is quite cool, located on the base floor. The Hotel on Pownal does have character and individualism, which I enjoyed a lot. Great place for a stay in Charlottetown and its vicinity. Thank you so much!
