I liked the accommodation and would use again although I felt it was a little overpriced

Great welcome from front of house and nice touch with the breakfast bag. Extremely clean room, towels and bedsheets etc. microwave and kettle plus clothes hanging space in the room. Good restaurants choice locally of a little rough around the edges. Shower worked okay.

Car parking a bit hit and miss and the ‘alley’ was extremely tight. Anything bigger than a VW golf and it’s not possible to park without scraping your car. Everything a bit ‘tired’ and door did not lock unless using the key.

The manager was a very helpful and pleasant individual and he went out of his way to make my stay a pleasant one. He lent me a map of the town, and even brought a mini fridge into the room for me. My room was cosy and warm and the shower was large enough not to have to turn sideways as is the case with other hotels I have stayed at. There was a microwave in the room which I did not use but would be useful to other residents.

Only a small point but the last flight of stairs up to my room (I was on the top floor) were quite spirally and steep and quite a challenge for older people. There were some stains on the paintwork which needs addressing (I did manage to clean one up though). Finally the tap in the bathroom was very stiff and if you didn't open it fully it shot water on the area around the tap which could spill on the floor.

The location and the price the free breakfast bits and tea and coffee in room the welcome was great by the staff very friendly and warm the towels were lovely and fluffy in the room the soap was nice touch shops were 2 minutes away and there was plenty of them

The beds were lumpy and uncomfortable the pillows were flat we found hairs on the sheets.it was economy room but there still could have been a bit better beds to be honest

The location was excellent for what we needed. The owner was very welcoming and helpful, also received a bag with some breakfast items in which was lovely.

The beds were unfortunately very uncomfortable, but it was manageable for one nights stay. The back car park is incredibly hard to get down- avoid going down there if you have a large car and hope there are spaces out the front.

A really good budget hotel with easy access to the centre of Ipswich. My room was nice and clean, comfortable and quiet. The pedestrianized area of Ipswich is only a 5 minute walk away. Good parking. My thanks to Imran who was very friendly and helpful when I arrived. Highly recommended for a short stay. There are lots of pubs, shops and restaurants nearby.

The receptionist very kindly waited for me despite I had a late check-in, I really appreciated this as a solo female traveler. It was a hot day, but he kept my room ventilated and added a fan which was on when I arrived. He also added a complimentary little breakfast (porridge, juice and a pan au chocolate). The bed was comfortable and toilet facilities were adequate.

The little bags they provided containing porridge pastry and juice .This was lovely as l didnt expect it. The owner was welcoming and carried my case up stairs to my room .Which was very nice . The room had tea coffee ect and a place for you to help yourself to more if you needed it . On the whole l enjoyed my stay and would deffinatly stay there again .The owner went over and beyond when my Taxi didnt come on leaving he drove me to the station himself.Which l was very grateful for . Staying somewhere which was so friendly was a bonus and l felt really happy .So yes l would deffinatley stay there again if lm ever in lpswitch again

The owner is the sweetest and kindest man. He turned my car around in the back car park, helped me top up my car oil and then moved my car to the front from the back car park. We had a few chats while I stayed here and I will say he is such a genuine person. He made my stay even better. Wishing all the health and luck to him and his family. Staying here means you are supporting a family owned business that cares about every single guest and not a corporation who sees you as a number. I will always stay only here.

The room was clean and well decorated with all basic facilities. The beds were very comfortable. The hotel is just a short walk from the town centre. There was a basic breakfast bag available. The keys were easy to locate. We didn't meet a member of staff but the hotel is set up to function without this being necessary. A welcome venue to support our visit to the town.

Fantastic stay staff are very helpful

Great hotel for the few days work I had in Ipswich . Host was very welcoming with a breakfast bag supplied each day . Great pub food at the greyhound a short walk away .

Location good, close to centre, very comfortable. Did not provide breakfast but gave me a bag with porridge, juice and pastry which was perfect. Coffee and tea facilities in room, also microwave. Proprietor very pleasant and helpful. Would go again if in area.

Receptionist was amazing and made some great recommendations. Quiet location in town.

The room was pretty rough. Carpet was stained and in poor shape, bathroom was quite rudimentary, one of the twin beds had a large hole in its bedframe, etc.

The owner is so friendly and welcoming. Really good value for money. In a great location.

The location was great. Two minute walk to the centre of town. Great host, very friendly and knowledgeable. Room a little tired, but the bed was very comfortable. The room was clean.

The TV was very old and tiny, but worked ok. The second floor stairs wre quite steep

The host provided a breakfast bag as I was leaving early, he also offered and moved his vehicle to allow me easy access to a parking slot at the front of the building. The main town was 2mins walking distance and a Wetherspoons was 5mins, ideal for my evening meal.

Nothing I didn't like, everything was acceptable. My private bathroom could have done with somewhere to place a wash/travel bag, other than on the floor. Next to the wash basin would have been ideal.

Close to Ipswich Town centre with parking. The host even gave me a breakfast pack for the morning of departure.

Good location, and a decent value, no frills hotel. The guy who runs it is very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast bags are a nice touch. I've stayed here several times now and always had the exact same room (economy double) - the decor is dated and it's pretty basic, but it's clean and comfortable and does the job. Complimentary toiletries aren't provided so you need to remember to bring your own, but it's no problem at all. Can't fault the place and will continue to stay here whenever I come to Ipswich.

The room was spacious, clean, and had all the amenities required for all my needs. It was great to have a breakfast pack. Imran the manager was amazing, attentive, and definitely made me feel like he he wanted me to have a enjoyable stay. The hotel was quite, so perfect for a great night's sleep, and the hotel easy access to to city centre, and situated in a respectful, quiet street.

Perfectly adequate hotel, people it seems only post negative things about this hotel because they expect the World for £60 ! The owner was very polite and helpful. He gave us a goody bag with a pot of porridge, apple juice and pastry which was nice, as we had an early start the next morning. Car parking was off street and the room was a decent size.

The stairs bannisters were covered in grim and not very hygienic , the bed was worn and made noises all night. The room was very dated, but did the job.

The location is spot on being within a mile of everywhere you’d need to go in Ipswich. The room was clean and the staff member on check in was polite, helpful and informative. The price was very reasonable, especially compared to other hotels in the area that weekend.

Only really a few minor things. I haven’t stayed in a hotel with no shower gel or shampoo in the bathroom for a long time, but there’s a shop just across the road so no massive issues really but be aware to take some. The plug socket and light switches in between the beds didn’t work which I would have reported on leaving but it was a key drop and I didn’t see anyone (room 7). The shower head was on its way out and could do with replacing. The bedroom door was on a Yale type lock and didn’t lock behind you unless you gave it a pull. As I say minor things and ultimately I’d happily stay again, it’s a budget hotel which was warm, clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly.

The location is great, and I really appreciated that this is a family-run business. Next time I’d probably like to book direct with them. The building itself is very cosy, I enjoyed the carpeting and soft lighting and was grateful for the en-suite and call button for staff. I was delighted that a fan was provided in the room, as well as lots of tea and coffee and a very clean kettle as well as a microwave. The gentleman on-call was extremely lovely and friendly, he was attentive and considerate of my needs as a disabled guest. He cleared walkways for my mobility aid and made sure I was settled, wished me good morning and held my bags during the day until I picked them up for my journey home. He offered to call me a taxi as well. I would definitely book again if I end up in Ipswich any time soon!

I found it hard to get into the building with my walker / rollator. The door is narrow-ish and swings shut so trying to lift my mobility aid into the first and then second door was difficult. I can’t remember now if there was a doorbell for assistance but if I see one next time I’d definitely use it. I never felt like I was inconveniencing the lovely gentleman when I pressed the button at the desk, he would offer to get the door for me on my way out — but staff obviously have lots to do so can’t be poised for anyone possibly entering the building, so in that case, an assistance button on the front of the building would be great (again, there might have been one, in which case that’s my fault for not noticing) this is not meant to be a negative review at all.

The proprietor was so welcoming and professional and nothing was too much for him.I thought it was a lovely gesture that a.free breakfast goodie bag was offered and would be. available for. the duration of my stay.. Overall it was very good value and most importantly, would I return in the future..... Yes, definitely I would.♥️

The tap in the sink needs to be replaced as it is corroded and the mattress was sunken so that needs to be replaced.

A well presented hotel that, despite being an older building, has been very tidily decorated. Both the interior and the rooms, which are clean and functional for a stay. Very helpful staff, a good location, parking on site ( saves some pennies ). Recommended. Will book again for my next trip.

Old dated rooms, uncomfortable bed, wallpaper peeling off the walls, bathroom was awful and mouldy, window that wouldn't shut, all in all a poor experience and wouldn't visit again.

Everything was very good. Free parking.Just the window glass wasn't very airtight, letting in drafts. I stayed in during the winter, so it was a bit cold. I tried stuffing the windows with tissues, and it worked fine. I think the landlord will fix it eventually.

It was tired looking bathroom had a leak round the toilet so the floor was wet. There’s no reception at night or in the morning when we left the food bag for breakfast wasn’t even worth talking about cheap for £10 more somewhere else could’ve had a breakfast and more comfortable sleep towels at the window to stop the condensation overall very very poor

The Carlton is always nice to stay in. Quiet area at night even though it's close to the town centre, even though I had a room at the front. Very quiet at night. Hotel supplies plenty of toilet roll, tea, sugar and milk which is always a plus and a good breakfast bag.

I usually have a room on the first floor at the back I had a room right at the top; room was quite cold and small, had to have the heater on a lot and the window was old. Water tap kept spitting. I still had a good nights sleep in the bed. I'd prefer a room on first or ground floor but it was still nice to see Berners St in the early morning, view of older buildings.

L'accueil est très chaleureux, l'emplacement de l'hôtel est idéal pour visiter ipswch. Les équipements fonctionne.

L'isolation phonique et thermique des chambres n'est pas top, aussi bien avec la chambre du voisin qu 'avec la rue. La salle de bain est dans sont jus très vieillissante mais fonctionnelle.

The welcome we received was excellent, friendly and full of useful information. Room size was good and overlooking what I thought was a main road winch proved to be very quiet. The city centre is at the bottom of the street and the marina area is walkable.
