Only heating unit in the apartment did not work so it was very cold. Some power points did not work. Kitchen equipment was sparse. Internet was bad. We were supposed to stay here again but I cancelled as it was just too cold to stay.

The location was very handy. Very safe for kids. Enough space for families.

Hypodermic needles in the garden were disgraceful. Small rooms. Small bathrooms. Mould on the inside of the windows.

The only positives about this place is ,it was warm once we figured out the heat pump, but I needs to be serviced noisy & dusty, beds were comfortable very soft, curtains were semi decent & it contained a fridge , jug , toaster, tea & coffee , balcony was nice fake plants everywhere though. This place needs a complete overhaul, its really really old. Shower is bad , lack of pressure, looks like its been put into a old cupboard, pipe work needs a complete upgrade they cough & splatter everywhere, no plug in bathroom. we asked and booked for a 2 bedroom suit, thank God the people we were supposed to be staying with us pulled out a week before as the second bedroom was locked the whole time, bedrooms are super tight , slept on double bed with a single bed also jammed in that room ., the floor in kitchen squeaky, the freezer in the fridge needs to be defrosted, god knows what jammed in the middle of it and completely frosted over, the shelving needs to be wiped down dusty as , im certainly not hard to please but I would never stay here again , in fact we cut our trip short and came back to dunedin earlier than expected. Saw the owner once for 5 mins to get key , tried to check in at 2pm and had to ring him after 30 mins as there was no one there , they were off site even though it said check in after 2pm . Said room was ready minus pillow cases that were then brought to us around a 20 mins later, Never saw or serviced our room for the 4 days we were there. No fresh towels, in fact I had to ask the people staying below us if they had a spare roll of toilet paper when they left there unit ,so expensive at just over $200 per night for two wished I had of booked elae were unfortunately had no option as christchurch was fully booked out due to supercars

The bed was really comfortable. And the manager and the staff were very kind. And it is good for kids to play around.

Everything was super clean and super comfortable

We booked the “Apartment with Garden View” (ground floor near the garden and playground) more than a month in advance because we were travelling with two young children and a dog. The booking was confirmed and fully paid. However, when we arrived for check-in, we were given a completely different room upstairs facing the main road (“Two-Bedroom Apartment with Balcony”) without any prior notice or explanation. We only discovered this after pointing at the ground-floor unit shown in the Booking.com photos to confirm it was ours. Staff then told us that unit had been given to another group booking. The owner later explained that a large group had booked the whole building, so our original apartment was no longer available. We explained clearly that we specifically booked the downstairs garden unit because travelling with children and a dog makes upstairs accommodation very difficult. Instead, we were shown another downstairs room in unacceptable condition — dark, dirty, mouldy, with peeling walls. At that point, we had no choice but to request a refund and urgently find another place to stay in Christchurch on the same day. This completely disrupted our trip. We spent hours searching for accommodation, parking the car, calling places, and paying much higher last-minute prices because nothing had been booked in advance. The most concerning part is that this situation felt intentional. It appears the property accepted another booking for the room we had already reserved and paid for. If we had been overseas tourists unfamiliar with Christchurch, we may have had no option except to accept the poor-quality replacement room. Very disappointing and stressful experience. I would not recommend this property.

Not much to like.

Very dated. Poor check in process and then we found drugs left in our room. Motel said they would refund our booking but that never happened. Never again. Beware all!!!!!!

Room was not SERVICED on second day of stay, room did not reflect the photo in Booking.com, needing new fry pan, keeps blowing main fuse box outside when using the oven, stove top , microwave and jug all at once, oven racks did not fit the oven, pressure in shower is slow, heater fan in bathroom not working, basin tap loose, dining table all sticky, needing new pegs, laundry room is a shambles, open rubbish bags stacked out the back yard, big truck parked outside on main road hazard in and out of driveway, needing proper curtains on front and back doors, only 3 dining chairs, evident knives used for drug use, lack of utensils, bowls, pots in the room for a family room, returned items stunk of spices, lack of cleanliness around the outside.

The space was decent sized. The balcony was great. The hosts were nice. The car was covered in a carport under our family suite.

The shower had a fair bit of mold. The toilet walls were dirty. The walls around the oven weren't very clean, nor were the window sills in the kitchen.

Clean, good location, good price

Booked for 7 adults, definitely didn't have the beds available for that many, fold out couch isn't much bigger than a single bed, had to use blow up mattress we fortunately had with us.

It was nice and close to our boxing tournament

The rooms were clean and warm, and the location was easy to find, but on a busy road. The beds were comfy, and the kids loved the themed bedspreads. The playground is around the back, away from the road, but not fenced. Not a modern decor, like stepping into the 70s/80s, but tidy. Two bedrooms and a lounge/kitchenette, a separate bathroom provide enough doors and spaces to keep everyone happy. Lovely outdoor space on the balcony with seating for everyone.

The kitchen was sparse on utensils and cookware, but quite a collection of novelty mugs for a cup of coffee. Did not supply milk. The rooms are quite compact and only three seats at the dining table.

Overall; there wasn’t much to like about this property.

The cot mattress was not suitable for use. The staff didn’t seem to be interested in helping. The second room was locked and I had to ask multiple times for it to be unlocked, and then unlocked properly.

Lack of privacy, people could see in front. Carport area, workers working in carport area, bathroom was terrible and people could see in from carport.

A very old motel that needs a good jif, a bit sticky on the cupboards and cupboard doors don’t shut properly just overall very old and noisy

Even though the cleaning was done and was tidy everything needed to be cleaned properly with a good quality cleaner the floors weren’t mopped lots of rubbish under the couches.

The man was very friendly, he told me that he had just brought the business 2 weeks ago and said it was in need of a lot of love - I liked his honesty, and hope it all works out for him

No hot water when we went to have a shower after getting back soaking wet from a concert. Was looking forward to a hot shower, but after waiting 5mins for it to heat up we gave up

Cancelled due to conditions. Now having trouble with refund from Booking.com and Motel. Poor service. Expensive weekend $430 original fee them replacement Motel $180. Unit was dirty and badly needs to be renovated not up to standard. Would be nice to have more support from Booking.com

The mattress was extremely soft and I found it difficult to sleep on. Maybe that is to some people's preference, but it was not to mine.

Friendly, helpful staff, was a very hot, busy, stressful day and made our arrival excellent. Unit worked well for us

I must have been in an older unit - it showed in the wear-and-tear apparent on every single surface including the stove in the kitchenette, mold in the shower and around the windows in the ample bathroom. Bed covering and curtains were not in their best conditions. Certainly workable, but I had higher expectations given the pictures provided on this site. The main "living" area was cramped due to an extra bed that I didn't need. The toilet would run if the button wasn't fiddled with to make it stop. While airflow was sufficient for cooling the unit during my stay, there is no AC. Not an issue for me, but something for older travelers to be aware of. Note that the location is a minimum 15 min walk to intersections at either end of the main road the motel sits at; restaurants are not close by. While the bus stop is convenient, it isn't a major route (hence the need for a longer walk).

The room was a very good size

The motel is quite old and dated, but everything is functional and the bed was very good. We had a one bedroom unit and there was plenty of space. Parking under cover right next to our unit was perfect.

The heating system seems quite inadequate. The weather during the day was warm, but it was chilly the second morning and the heater didn't do much to warm things up.

The price was great and the location is great if you want easy transport to the Ilam and uni area, while it was also very clean, with amazing friendly staff that made for a overall amazing stay. Even had good heating.

The overall esthetic was a bit on the older side especially the door having a old locking system so security would be the only concern, and the shower you basically have to have it on max heat to get any form of heat out of it.

The beds were comfortable and the rooms had heating and the staff were friendly and approachable. The rooms were fairly spacious and there was space to hang up items.

This motel is very tired - old fittings and decor and a shower that has old fashioned mixers - delicate to get them to the perfect temperature! If you need cheap accommodation and don't mind a dated bathroom or kitchen it is OK as it's clean and warm.
