Beautiful property and location. Must have been extensively renovated some time back but is still generally well maintained. Some of the facilities are a little dated but still fully functional. The staff always maintain a smile even when under pressure.
Its remote location is a positive on one hand but negative on another as you have to drive to get into town. I think the hotel is a little understaffed which did affect the consistency of the service provided in the kitchens. The quality of the breakfast on most days surpassed the quality on the first day which was poor.
The location , the room and the friendly staff .
The breakfast we’ve got to admit that we have had much better layouts and selection .
Despite promises on Booking.com that this is a pet-friendly hotel, when we turned up after five hours driving (having booked and paid for a room), the receptionist glibly declared that the only two downstairs rooms appropriate for dogs were occupied and that we were not allowed to have our dog upstairs. Our dog (a clean, fluffy, well-behaved and hypoallergenic cavapoo) therefore spent the night in the car - to her great distress. The dog-unfriendly nature of the hotel was further enhanced at breakfast when we were curtly informed (and loudly, across the room in front of everyone else) by the server that dogs were not allowed in the dining room. We were mystified at this given there are at least two dogs allowed in the hotel. Apart from that, all was well... except that we were violently awoken by a bin lorry roaring and crashing at 06.58, then again by a delivery van half an hour later. Then we discovered that the shower tap wouldn't turn off and was spraying water all over the bathroom. Luckily I was able to find the stopcocks under the basin. Added to which, tiles are about to fall off the bathroom wall. Perhaps too we would have felt slightly better had we been informed upon arrival that the kitchen closed at 8 pm... rather than discovering this fact at five past eight. Despite its pleasant gardens and peaceful location, this hotel is not in the least recommended and I would avoid it all costs.
Nice & peaceful
Staff were nice
The massive flood that occurred overnight flooded my room saturated clothes, shoes and bags. When I called reception they knew about the leak, it happened overnight but no one thought to check rooms on that corridor! No recompense offered, refused a refund, had to ask them to wash and dry the clothes, couldn't go to breakfast because no clothes to wear. Shocking.
Staff and breakfast
Kettle broken in room and there was no spare. Reception got boiled water. Spa bath didn't work.
JJ was lovely, he wears so many hats, Bless him, he works very hard and always presents with a smile and a good word . The bedroom was clean and tidy, bed was very comfortable (room 4) Good array of food on the breakfast buffet The bacon was excellent and so were the croissants. What was nice is that we weren't rushed to finish our breakfast. Husband and I were there with our 2 sons and their wives whom we don't see very often, so it was nice to catch up Thank you
There needs to be more staff on breakfast duty, JJ was rushed off his feet but always had a smile Could have been better bread for the toast
Beautiful location, calm and quiet surroundings . Helpful staff
The accessible room has a sliding door for the bathroom but no handle or knob. A person with arthritis would struggle to open and close the door. Additionally the bathroom floor was slightly uneven, hence not safe.
Bed was comfortable
Not clean.
Lovely grounds, so close to the train station, fabulous staff
Lovely friendly staff
Location was good as we were attending a wedding at Froyle Park
Bedroom was dated, bed was not comfortable.
Friendly staff
Breakfast was self servive one day and then table order the next
The drive, the reception area, bar and dining area are beautiful. Chloe the Manager was excellent, she was a perfect host, super helpful and always had a smile on her face, thank you for looking after us.
Our room hadn’t been updated and was very small and tired. It also needed a deep clean.
Great location
Rooms were tired but bed comfy but disappointed to be in a twin room… haven’t slept in a single bed since I was 15!
Beautiful location, beautiful hotel. Amazing, friendly and helpful staff.
My only complaint was the bed.. way too soft almost felt like a water bed. Could do with updating to a new mattress
Great hotel, very reasonably priced and the staff were brilliant - super helpful with checking us in.
Decor and room is slightly dated but it was clean
Lovely interesting hotel, great gardens, very comfortable place to be and staff were all really friendly. Great breakfast aswell. Super clean room.
Ground floor dog friendly room with a door directly outside, staff very friendly, lovely small grounds to walk the dogs.
I like light rooms and this a bit dark and small, but everything was clean with room amenities
Location
Nothing everything was great
Location, grounds, breakfast
Tired decor, room very pokey
Location
Toilet was stained beneath the water line
Pleasant hotel in nice suroundings
Bedford was too soft I could get any sleep
The room was very clean, well equipped and the bed was very comfortable, very good value for money overall a fantastic stay.
The room was tiny but that’s ok because it was cheap, the tv (as in most hotels) was very small! On checking out we were told we needed to pay for 2 breakfasts (one on the morning we hadn’t even arrived!) but this was sorted promptly.
Peaceful location in a pretty building and a large room with balcony.
Pretty Easy to park
It was exceptionally hot I understand there was no air conditioning but the windows were closed and it it was hard to sleep due to the heat
Very clean and welcoming. Good breakfast
Nil
The country look and position of the hotel. Cheerful welcome. Helpful staff. Rooms acceptable. Breakfast was excellent and we enjoyed our stay, we would stay again.
The fact that evening meals were only served in the bar area which was very small. There were no sandwiches or food available on arrival ( Sunday late afternoon) no draw space for clothes in one bedroom just a wardrobe with 2 hangers. Door chain came away from wall.
Top ausgestattetes Zimmer Sehr freundliches Personal
Fehlende Klimaanlage
Prachtig nostalgisch hotel in een hele mooie en groene omgeving
Niets
Hands up - I made a mistake on the booking - I thought I’d made it clear we were bringing our dog but there was a mix up somewhere so when we arrived, unfortunately, we couldn’t stay as the 2 ‘dog friendly’ rooms were already occupied. The receptionists very kindly tried other hotels locally but they were booked up too. Again, very kindly, the room rate was refunded, even though technically they didn’t need to do that. Great shame but these things happen. Staff were great.
Lack of dog friendly rooms 🤣🤣
Staff were welcoming and the balcony was nice in the evening
The hotel was booked out for a wedding, so we were not able to spend time around the hotel, so we stayed in the room. However, our room didn't have any soundproofing, so we were able to hear the conversations of guests either side of our room all night
Location peaceful, attractive grounds. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Very basic room, and v hot .........was another room available? Bed uncomfortable.
Lovely location not far from a family event we were going to
No lifts but we ok with stairs but for those who have difficulty, not would be overcome by the friendly helpful staff
Suited my needs

Some of the staff were exceptional, specifically, Ollie, on reception, and the cleaners working on the Friday morning, lovely ladies. Other staff were very unhelpful and rude. The location was perfect for us and the garden lovely to walk in. The room was nice and quiet though the decor, especially in the bathroom, was very tired.
The unhelpful breakfast staff on Friday morning, the same staff were on reception on Saturday morning, very rude and unhelpful. And when you order poached egg on toast and get told you need to make your own toast when they bring you just the overcooked eggs on a plate. The bathroom door wouldn't shut properly.
Beautiful surrounding, lots of green area, peaceful. great staffs particularly Chloe and Lisa both charming and genuine, helpful
As a non driver, I needed to book a taxi to move around which is cost effective. The closest bus stop was at 35mn walked. Limited food option and short breakfast timing. No fridge , nor bottle of water in the room.
The location
Bed too small although comfy. Bathroom had not been cleaned. Not enough staff. Breakfast was adequate
Nice welcoming staff. Lovely location. Nice size room. Comfortable beds.
Lack of variety for breakfast
De sfeer en de locatie waren erg fijn.
Clean and friendly staff
Quiet location with spacious grounds
Understaffing
Location was set in a back drop of countryside fields quiet and peaceful
You walk in and it is so warming and welcoming beautiful
My room was very comfortable and clean. I didn’t have breakfast
Staff were very helpful !
I had a lovely room technically on the ground floor. My room had double doors opening out into the garden, but I did have some steps to use to access the corridor.
The menu though simple was too simple for those with allergens for vegetarians. I think I sweated more eating my masserman curry (yes was comfortably gluten free) than during the day in a heatwave.
Location was perfect for the functions I attended
Lovely property with beautiful gardens
Convenient for Farnham,
The house is old and needs updating, appearance was dusty and shabby. Breakfast on Sunday was poor after the hotel suffered a 12hrpower cut the day before. But I think they may have had a venue there, and us other guest were second thoughts.
Beautiful setting, quiet. Staff helpful and friendly. Good shower/ bathroom Bed comfortable
Our room had a sloping ceiling so one of us couldn’t sit up easily on the bed. Small room- very hot (exceptional weather during our visit) Only there one night but if return would chose a different room Didn’t have breakfast as early start next morning.
It was fine perfect for what we needed. A hair dryer would of been useful
Nice feel, beautiful setting
Rooms were out of date and limited facilities
A quiet location, an ideal wedding location, a nice little balcony on room 19.
No dining options as there was a wedding on the next day and the caterers had taken over the kitchen. They were happy for you to order in a take away.
Peaceful rural setting, lovely gardens
Dated rooms, menu items not available.
Room had access to garden which was nice, bed was comfortable and room was clean. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Decor is a bit dated but didn't really bother us.
Nothing
Veryyyyy Dirty
Dog friendly room with a door straight outside. Friendly staff. Beautiful grounds and historic building.
Nothing i didnt like.
We only did b& b. Breakfast was poor. It was a help yourself and the cooked items were “tired”. Scrambled eggs removed just before we wanted them. No staff to offer or clear tables and NO MARMALADE Bed too small. Every room needs king size please.
See above.
Delicious self serve breakfast. Plenty of choice.
Tea and coffee in the room. A lift to upper floor but I realise in an old house this might be impossible.
Very welcoming
The buildings, the pannelling, the garden and the rooms. The air con. in the breakfast room was amazing.
The rooms were good but my sink surround could have been replaced. it was during the really hot weather and the fan in my room wasn't very good and there was no air con. in the bedrooms but perhaps that was reflected in the price.
Not applicable. I did not had breakfast

Excellent staff,very helpful
Liked everything
The hotel is beautiful with lovely gardens to enjoy. The room was a good size, with a comfortable bed.
Perfect location for attending weddings nearby, only negative would be the breakfast is served so early that we missed it completely!
Quirky and full of character
Unfortunately the chef was ill so we had to go out for dinner.
Staff tried hard to please. Location and setting were great.
Tired facilities and decor. Staff not always readily available in the bar or at the service desk.
Such a beautiful property in idyllic surroundings
Nothing
Beautiful hotel, good size room, clean, bed very comfortable 😊
The grounds could do with a tidy up.
Staff were very friendly and helpful
Breakfast disappointing, bar overpriced.
lovely location, rooms were spacious and clean and staff were polite and helpful
when we arrived there were menus in the room but they don't serve food at the weekend which was disappointing after a long journey
Advertised and booked as dog friendly. On arrival told that should have confirmed I was bringing a dog - despite no prior notice of this requirement. They did find a room for us elsewhere. Can’t comment on Farnham House Hotel itself as did not stay :(
We requested early check in and our room was ready when we arrived. Receptionist was very friendly . I am dairy intolerant and it was a nice touch that non dairy milk was provided in the room. Towels were nice and large.
Whilst the room was clean and vacuumed , the carpet felt grubby and tacky beneath our feet. Breakfast was plentiful but the fresh fruit was very past its best. One of the oranges was actually bruised. I had a kiwi and it was very overripe.
Nice small hotel, quiet and very friendly
TV wouldn’t tune to certain stations like BBC 1, Some noise. Evening menu was limited.
Very friendly staff especially those that checked us in for breakfast. Room was very clean on arrival.
Breakfast was really quite Basic. Cooked selection was good with eggs cooked to order but the cereals were mainly high sugar . Fruit selection was poor. Drinks are hot water in a flask plus a tea bag you have to dip…..really you can do better than that! Toaster machine needs to be retired! Never got up to temp,Soggy bread for toast! Food options in the evening is non existent….majority of the menu items in the bar were not available, so we ate out.. I could feel the springs in the mattress …. Not a comfortable nights sleep! I don’t know how old the mattresses are but they need replacing. (Rm 6) Tea and coffee supplies in the room were not topped up on our second nights stay. Thankfully I had brought my own. There is no fridge in the room!
Nice facilities
Very poor food
We had to keep asking the guy in reception for stuff ie cutlery, plates coffee. Not sure if he was new but he seemed quite flustered. Tables were not cleared when we arrived .
The breakfast service
Setting / grounds
Rooms are dated (and ours was v small really for a 4 day stay) This hotel could be amazing - grounds are stunning
We did not have breakfast but the location was vey nice and rural. Television reception was not good though.Nice an peaceful
The bed was so comfortable one of the best sleeps I’ve had staying in a hotel
Would have loved some black out curtains Room felt so stuffy where we was having a heat wave, luckily brand my own fan as the fan provided didn’t do anything
A beautiful building, set in beautiful grounds The staff we met were friendly and helpful . Especially JJ.
Very tired decor , carpets seen better days and room really needs an update . Gardens had obviously looked amazing at one time , but were shabby and outdoor furniture rusted and dirty . The lawns really needed a mow and flower beds a good weed. Maybe the gardener off sick . Shower curtain dirty in bathroom and did not like the two plastic glasses which whilst wrapped were presented on the toilet cistern . Not very hygienic . Carpet really needs replacing as threadbare and patched in places .
Lovely atmosphere
Access on foot is akward. You have to walk right along highway A31.
Lovely grounds and good shower
No food available for evening
Size and loungroom and gardens.
Restaurant only opened some days and there was no information about when. We went without because the house is remote.
Nothing
The breakfast was the worst we had ever encountered, had to ask for bread for toast, a couple of pots of yoghurt had to ask 3 times for coffee pot to be filled up, other guests wandering around trying to look for the 1 staff member who was missing in the kitchen to ask for coffee, milk bread and juice to be filled up, hot plate with no food only 4 items being cooked at a time so I you blinked and other residents got to the hotplate the food was gone had to ask for sausages, bacon, hashbrowns to be replenished again only 4 at a time and this was with at least a dozen residents wandering around looking and asking for food and drinks lie orange juice to be refilled, had to ask the cleaning lady to go and find the 1 member of staff on several occasions to say no food on hotplate no coffee and no bread
Wonderful old property which was ideally situated for our event.
Efficient check-in. Staff were extremely busy yet managed to stay friendly, calm and attentive. The building is attractive and interesting. Nice room. Big warm bath.
Long wait for my evening meal.
The room was large and clean, if a little tired. The facilities were good. The staff were friendly and helpful. The grounds are will looked after.
.
Scenic location, beautiful house with history. Very friendly evening staff.
Pub food ok. Need more staff, long waiting times.
Beautiful well kept property
Shower to turn on the water was very difficult to turn one. Minor but difficult
Friendly, professional staff and good breakfast made to order
n/a
Reasonable price, picturesque property & setting, food quality, staff attentiveness
Both dinner & breakfast took longer they should have between ordering and being served
The room was clean and warm, with a charming view. The outdoor building is very beautiful and the garden is well-maintained. Breakfast was good.
We were not informed that there was no cook in the restaurant that day and had to go back out (we were on foot and the hotel is 40 min walk from the town centre). Would suggest calling the hotel if you are planning to dine there. The mattress was old and we could feel the springs on our blacks.
Un charme fou dans un joli lieu historique dont on ressent les bonnes ondes, quel calme. Le jardin est vraiment charmant.
Lovely atmosphere, beautiful grounds, friendly staff
Bar meal in the evening took time as only one member of staff on duty, booking people in, bar work and watering service. All meals where satisfactory.
As a disabled person we booked an excessable room, on line, none on site, nothing, not even a lift. This is disgusting in this day and age. NO REFUND OFFERED. We would never recommend this hotel.
No lift
Location and staff were superb
Quality of the beds depends on the room.
The location and style of the hotel is excellent 👌 The staff is very friendly and helpful
