There’s nothing I didn’t like. It is up a steep bank , which I didn’t mind but some people might not manage.

Breakfast was good - cooked to order. Nice touch with the home baking and water (in the fridge) on the landing. Also the home made shortbread in the room. Huge bonus is the private parking and 5 mins walk to town. Garden looked great and would be a superb facility in good weather.

We’ve just returned from a lovely stay at Fairfield House and Gardens, and we would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Windermere. Nick is a fantastic host warm, welcoming and friendly throughout our entire stay. The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean and very well equipped. We enjoyed two breakfasts during our visit, with a fantastic choice of cereals, fresh fruit and everything else you could wish for, including a delicious freshly cooked breakfast made to order. The little touches really made our stay special. Our room was stocked with complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits, along with the wonderful surprise of freshly baked cookies and cake for all guests to enjoy. Having cold bottles of water and fresh milk was another thoughtful touch. The house is situated on a fairly steep bank, but Nick was kind enough to show us a shorter, more manageable route down to the lake and promenade, which was really helpful. A beautiful place to stay, with a fantastic host and excellent attention to detail. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend Fairfield House and Gardens!

Fabulous hot breakfast made in house. The room was tidy and comfortable with a very good shower. The owner prepared homemade treats and offered bottled water for guests. Location very close to Bowness.

Free parking on site, close to everything, the owners were welcoming and there is free bottled water and cakes on the afternoon. Which is a lovely touch

5 star accommodation. Nick, our host, could not do enough for us to make our stay thoroughly enjoyable. Spotlessly clean well appointed rooms Breakfast is to die for, I have not had better anywhere. A nice extra was home made cakes & cookies in the afternoon, baked by our host. We decided to spend some time on the terrace due to beautiful weather, Nick very kindly supplied glasses for our wine & beers. A great value for money b & b for a stay in Bowness which is a handy central location on Lake Windermere. There is also a good selection of restaurants within 15 to 20 minutes walk of Fairfield House. I would not hesitate to recommend Fairfield House for a stay in this area.

I am 75 years old with dodgy knees & ankles so the only down side for me personally was the walk up & down the hill into Bowness & to the lake jetty. Having said that it would not be an issue for most people.

The room was very modern and spacious. The bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom had a free standing bath with shower over which was quite high to step into but we did have a bath mat which was great. We had a a lovely view of the gardens. Great value for money we had fantastic breakfasts with so much choice and we also received homemade baked goods, bottles of water and fresh milk all complimentary each day which was a really nice touch. We will definitely be back and would recommend.

The only downside was a very steep hill to climb to get back to property each day but it is accessible in a car too. We did choose to leave our car at the hotel car park.

Wir hatten ein sehr grosses schönes Zimmer unter dem Dach. Parking war einfach und direkt vor dem Haus, das Frühstück sehr gut und reichhaltig. Die Unterkunft hat einen sehr schönen Aussenbereich, den man aber nur bei einigermassen gutem Wetter nutzen kann... Bowness haben wir als gute Basis für das Lake District erlebt.

Leider gab es in unseren 5 Tagen im Lake District kaum einen Sonnenstrahl, dafür kann die Unterkunft aber natürlich nichts.

I loved the bedroom and bathroom allocated to me. It was large and very comfortable. The bed was king size and the owner had provided little extras i.e. biscuits and cake, fresh milk and ample tea and coffee facilities. I would definitely recommend this accommodation and would like to stay there again when possible!

A beautiful place to stay, loved the free daily treats, very clean and the shower is amazing. The cooked breakfast was lush and just the right portion size. I have already recommend Fairfield House to friends and family and would definitely stay here again.

Location was excellent for us, we went on the Lake cruises. Room spotlessly clean, room facilities, had everything we required. We had the top floor room so views were really good. Extras such as complimentary cakes, fresh milk and water were a nice touch. Breakfast was superb and service excellent.

The property was great, Nick was a great host, breakfast was very nice, very close to the centre of town and a short walk to all amenities and restaurants, near to the water for the lake charters. The cake and cookies were a great touch where you can have during the day. Water bottles provided is also another great touch. We would definitely recommend this property.

We had a room at the top and there are a lot stairs, but if you know that in advance it helps, these older properties do not have lifts, the shower was a little weird in the location and was a little uneasy from a privacy perspective but ok.

The accommodation is within easy access to the centre of Bowness on windermere but further enough away to be lovely & quiet.The grounds were beautiful with lost of seating outside to sit & enjoy the sunshine !! The room was lovely & the bathroom a good size & the shower was amazing. Nick the owner sent us a text asking when we were arriving as he had been able to get the room ready a little earlier so it meant we could unpack & spend more time in Bowness on Windermere. There were little added touches such as a small fridge at the top if the stairs with small bottles of fresh milk & water in which we could use & he also provided either homemade cookies or cake in the afternoon to enjoy, which we did with a cup of tea. There was a good choice of cold breakfast items I.E cereals, yogurt, fruit etc & we also could choose a full english breakfast or tailor make from the items listed & they also offer a hot vegetarian breakfast. Nick made us feel extremely welcome & went out of his way to help us. All in all we had a brillaint stay & would stay again.

The hill was a little steep

Bit difficult to locate, but we missed the sign, nick was on the ball and sent full directions, penthouse suite, so beautifully done, and everything we needed. Great location. Amazing gardens, breakfast was 100% perfect, choices, and plentiful plate, and red hot. We will be back.

It was a beautiful kept quaint house with gorgeous gardens which felt homely. The room was well equipped and breakfast was delicious. We had the loft room and would like to visit again when the weather is nice to enjoy the garden.

The property is wonderful and surrounded by beautiful gardens. Couldn’t have wished for a better location, ample parking and easy access to the property throughout the day. Lovely touches such as free bottles of water, fresh milk, cake every day and little handmade shortbreads in your room with ample tea and coffee in your room to make the most of. Owners were lovely and breakfast was delicious and ample.

Nothing I didn’t like only things that would have been useful would be a fan in the room for the warm weather and an iron. The gardens are wonderful and it would be good to know how we can make use of them, bottle of wine in the evening etc?

Very clean room with a comfortable bed. Our room was a little on the smaller side than we expected. Breakfast was very good and cooked to order. The host provided home cooked cake each day which was a nice touch. Garden area would have been nice to sit in if the weather had been better.

There were complimentary biscuits, water and cookies available (as well as normal room tea/coffee facilities). This is the first time I've used a B&B for a number of years. The experience was so much better than I had expected. Would recommend and would revisit.

Our third visit to Fairfield and wont be our last, becoming an annual event as we love the location and the friendley feel of the accomodation very well run and a pleasure to stay.

Not a lot, walk into Bowness only a short distance but bit of a hill could cause an issue.

It’s a beautiful place, with a spectacular garden. The breakfast is excellent. And Nick, the host, is very gracious. And it’s very close to a lovely country walk, as well as close to shops & restaurants.

Everything was great. My own personal wish is that the room was a little bit larger, but it is a bed & breakfast in a historic property.

Amazing stay.

The property was really clean, the breakfast was great, and the owner Nick went above and beyond to make us stay comfortable. Unfortunately, our car broke down while we were at the venue but Nick put himself out to give us lifts into windermere. As it was a bank holiday, it was impossible to get the parts to fix the car, and the venue was booked for when we were due to leave. However, Nick sourced another venue for us to stay at which was also lovely. My wife and I cannot praise Nick enough for his efforts.

The room was very tidy and it had everything for our 2nt stay ,also it was great there was on site parking, the breakfast was amazing with plenty of choice also all the staff were very helpful and friendly 😀

The room was roomy and comfortable and overlooked the beautiful garden. Nick went above and beyond to make sure our stay there was as comfortable as it could possibly be. This included impeccable cleanliness, a comfortable bed and a well equipped bathroom as well as welcome little extras like fresh milk and newly baked cake available on the landing to all guests. Breakfast was cooked to order with a good choice of cereals and fruit. The garden is stunning with plenty of comfortable areas to sit and enjoy it

Our room was compact - fine for a couple of nights but perhaps not for a week. But it did have all the facilities we needed, so only a minor point.
