Het ontbijt was magertjes. Wij kwamen om 9:00 naar de zaal, veel was op en niet bijgevuld. Ham, kaas en een croissantje was er niet bij.

Reviewed Aug 18, 2026The dinner at the hotel was good. The breakfast was cooked to order and had a number of options. The staff at the front desk and in the dining areas were friendly and accommodating. The hotel is just a 10 minute walk from the center of town and the river and beach. Our room was clean. They allowed us to keep our bags at reception between checkout and when we needed to catch the ferry.
The room was a bit musty smelling. The shower drain involved a sharp stone edge that cut my husbands foot. Despite the hotel not seeming to have many guests, we were put in a room directly opposite the trash and recycling containers when they could have put us a bit farther away from these.

Bedroom a little noisy. Heating? Not enough to disturb sleep but a bit off putting. If you have an EV like me, you might find the reserved space ICEd. Was a space for me but no longer a Charge Place Scotland which meant a bit more faffing around than felt necessary.

Reviewed Jul 18, 2026Big room, clean, good water pressure in bathroom, front desk representative Tommy was very friendly and helpful. Big car park and electric charging for cars as well. Close to a Tesco store.
Poor breakfast, the mattress was too soft and uncomfortable, room view to parking car and the room in total is very basic. Had to open suitcase on the floor.

Reviewed Jul 13, 2026Close to the Ferry Harbor so ideal to stay at if you are going to the Orkneys. Good food in the restaurant and very friendly staff.
The beds could have been more comfortable and the blinds didn’t block the outside light entirely so it was always somewhat bright in the room. But those were only minor issues, overall the stay was great.

Reviewed Jun 9, 2026Staff were friendly and helpful, room was a decent size and clean. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and had fresh caught local fish cooked beautifully. In the morning the breakfast was plentiful and nice and to top all that there was safe parking for our motorcycle.

Breakfast let down the stay vegetarian breakfast was terrible no meat alternativejust a breakfast with no sausage or bacon....beans cold ...returned came back slightly warmer but not edible...evening meal good but went in bar for drink and felt uncomfortable as all tables booked for food no place to just relax with drink....potentially nice place but could be better

Reviewed May 17, 2026Het bijna enige restaurant van de stad zit in het hotel en er komen ook locals. Eten niet hoogstaand. Parkeren ruim voldoende. Grote supermarkt tegenover het hotel. Wel mooie landschappen en wandeltochten in de omgeving.
Het ontbijt was zeer karig, en moest je bestellen vanaf de menukaart. Koffie was lauw. De kamers simpel en gedateerd. Het stonk op de gang naar frituur. Ontbijt 2e dag maar overgeslagen. Stad Thurso & Wick zijn niet mooi. Deze gewoon overslaan

Property was OK and the lady at reception in the afternoon of 11 May was very nice as was the lady at breakfast on 12 May. Very helpful. The breakfast was also very good. However, when I arrived the room was quite smelly with the smell of BO. I opened the window, sprayed the room with perfume and the smell went away and I carried on. I mentioned this to the man on reception on the morning of my departure and his response was “No problem” in the tone of “you’re welcome like he’d done ma a favour. No apologies whatsoever ever. Well it would have been a problem for a lot of other customers and had I have been with my wife, I’d have asked for another room. There is also a banging like a construction drill going off after the hot tap had been run.

Reviewed Dec 1, 2025Breakfast was really nice, with enough choice. Stayed in the hotel for evening meals, which were also lovely. Main meals were great value and plenty of choice. Room was a good size, with a desk and look really quite newly refurbished. Everything was really how you would expect.
Breakfast could have been quicker (stay was for work, not leisure, so getting out quickly can be important). Starters and desserts are a little pricey in comparison to the great value main meals

Reviewed Oct 16, 2025The room was spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable, the bath was amazing especially after a 10 hour drive, the food was fantastic, staff were friendly, helpful and approachable. I felt really welcomed at the hotel, I really appreciated that they still served us food after we arrived a lot later than we said we would, that was very kind of them. Also liked the free parking.
There was nothing that I didn't like but I definitely think having a fridge in the room would be a great addition to the room, thought the price of breakfast was a little pricey but overall I had a lovely stay and would recommend the hotel and will stay here again when I come back up to Thurso.
