Alertheid personeel tijdens diner. Totaal vergeten na opname bestelling, het bestelde bleek niet meer te leveren. De avonduren worden berstoord door rond rijdende hatchbacks en motoren maar dat is inherent aan de locatie.

Reviewed Sep 11, 2026Es gab ein ausgezeichnetes schottisches Frühstück und ich wurde sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend bedient. Das Zimmer war gemütlich uns geräumig und ich habe mich sehr wohl gefühlt. Das Bad war sehr sauber. Das Essen im Lokal war vorzüglich!
Leider hatte das Restaurant nicht täglich geöffnet und auch das Frühstücksangebot stand nicht an jedem Tag zur Verfügung.

Front doors of hotel was open wide all evening,despite cool temperatures. When we asked for a blanket and/or for the heating to be turned on, we were told that the heating was turned on. Our radiator was not producing heat. We were told that we would be given a blanket but we did not receive one. My husband warmed up our bed by using my blow dryer and we placed our towels over us, in bed. Finally I sent a statement re our predicament to Booking.com and requested help. At 1000h, approximately 3 hrs after our initial request, two men came to our door. The fact that the radiator was not working was confirmed and we were given the use of a heater. We were then able to sleep comfortably. We were given a portion of our next night's dinner discounted to make up for the problem with the heating.

Reviewed Aug 26, 2026The hotel is an excellent choice for visiting Thurso, an incredible place on the northern coast. A short, easy walk from the train station and we were there. The people running the hotel are very welcoming and friendly, the food in the Red Pepper restaurant was very good. Rooms are basic, but comfortable, good quality mattresses, high water pressure at the shower, everything very clean and well kept.
It was a little cold in the rooms, but it was August, turning off the heating in summer time is perfectly understandable.

Teilweise war die Rezeption unbesetzt, aber im Pub fand man Hilfe.

Slight confusion over access as had to arrive later than 10pm. As soon as I found the contact number, the service was helpful and friendly. The only pity was that the promised communication about breakfast didn't materialise so I left and got breakfast elsewhere

El olor a comida a la entrada del hotel, escaleras y bar. En la habitación no. El ruifo de coches y personas hablando era muy fuerte ya que la habitación en el primer piso daba a una calle transitada

Das Badezimmer war verhältnismäßig sehr klein, Duschkopf an der Decke und sehr nahe an der Wand. Keine Parkplätze vorhanden. Nachts kann an der Strasse parkiert werden.

Reviewed Jun 8, 2026The hotel was perfectly adequate, clean, quiet, comfortable room and very easy to check in and out. Minimal staff, but that wasn't a problem. Street parking was good. Straightforward route to the ferry to Orkney.
The window was frosted so you couldn't actually see outside. Not all lights were working. You need to make a reservation if you want to eat in the restaurant. Thurso itself is a bit dismal with very limited dining options.

Reviewed Jun 4, 2026Die Lage ist zentral und günstig zum Fährhafen Scrabster. Das Zimmer und Bad waren sauber und die Betten bequem. Für eine Nacht völlig ausreichend. Wenig Abstellfläche im Bad. Gefrühstückt haben wir nicht, da wir morgens früh losfahren mussten. Alles in allem - ein schönes Haus, wo wir wieder übernachten würden.
Leider haben wir dort sonntags übernachtet. Der schöne Pub im EG hat leider sonntags geschlossen. Es war auch sehr schwierig ein Restaurant zu finden, welches sonntags geöffnet hat. Ohne Reservierung keine Chance. Wir haben abends im Parkhotel gegessen, war sehr lecker.

Unfortunately the restaurant isn't open on Mondays so we had to eat out, but I suppose the chef needs one night a week off. It didn't spoil the stay.
