There were no extra blankets, no Netflix, the man at the front desk charged my card an extra $100 "deposit" without my permission that "wont be refunded ro my card for five business days". The bathroom small step is a huge hazard.

Fantastic views with a central location letting us walk to everything. Twenty four hour access to all facilities supported by the friendliest professional staff. Quiet central location inside the hotel with gym facilities and lobby bar designed for guest comfort and enjoyment.

Awful senior manager or ceo rudely bossing around reception staff and housekeeping. Have stayed several times and can HIGHLY state the hotel has the most welcoming hard working staff you could hope for. Always friendly, always focussing on the guest experience. Even the workers from level 10, going out of their way to put the guest experience first. However, big fat rude man rushing around the hotel bidding these staff members and shouting at them. Completely unacceptable.

Beds were comfy, shower was great, very clean place and everyone was friendly and efficient.

We paid extra for a late checkout, yet we were still woken up before the agreed checkout time, which was really disappointing. The room itself felt tired and poorly maintained. There was a stain on the carpet, a broken wardrobe, a broken blind rail, and only one blind with no curtains. The TV was also very outdated and didn’t support screen mirroring or Chromecast. For a hotel advertising itself as 4-star, I would expect a much better standard of room, maintenance and facilities. The location is definitely a plus and some staff were friendly, but based on the room and our overall experience, I don’t think the 4-star rating reflects the actual standard.

they need to upgrade some of their facilities. Especially bathrooms. Having stayed at Fable Auckland I was very expecting the same luxury, but was sorely disappointed As above staff were great until something went wrong. Then they disappeared

I had a queen size bed room facing the tram area . Quite noisy at night , small room and walls and furniture ( chair/, tables ) quite tired feeling . Shower bath bit awkward and dated feeling . Shower pressure average .

Location was perfect, close to everything. We were celebrating a big birthday and this was acknowledged by front office , a pleasant surprise. Clean & Comfortable .

I have stayed in Auckland Fable - it has beautiful decor, spacious rooms so I was disappointed to find the chch fable was a very small room, plain decor, chipped wall paint, leaking shower; nothing like the Auckland fable brand - which is why I booked it.

Friendliness of staff

The room was not styled like it was in the photos. There were no blankets or pillows on the bed. The hallways also need some maintenance.

Hotel in excellent location with everything close. Sound proofed room with mini bar and toiletries. Wonderful friendly staff.

The staff at Reception were all very professional, kind and very ready to assist. The room service was great, the fact that I had all the information I needed provided at hand. Breakfast was also awesome

We loved the location, view of the mountains from our room was nice. Staff was nice and helpful and everything was relatively modern.

The lifts were slow and took forever to come and the room could do with fresh paint job as things looked unfinished

The rooms at the Auckland Fable are more high end so the Christchurch room was disappointing and there was no pen and paper in the room to use (they had very nice pens in Auckland!).

The room location, it was very quiet.

The bathroom, there was a small step we kept tripping on, and the shower was hard to get in and out of. The room would not be suitable for an older person or anyone with injuries. The bathroom is not very well laid out, very small and stepping over into a shower with a small shub just does not work for the space.

The lobby was so cold. There was no heating so to have a drink we have to have coats and scarves on.

I booked this hotel for two reasons, I was seeking a luxury experience and most of all a sauna. I arrived to be told the sauna was off because there were not enough guests to warrant keeping it in. They told me I would need to exit around 40 minutes first it to hear to temperature. They instructed that I would need to put it on. I got to the sauna , there were no instructions. I called receptions f was told how to put it on. I dud do and came back later, the sauna was stone cold still and the sauna switch had been manually switched to off. I talked to reception, they made some excuses . I would have runout chosen another hotel the description as a luxury hotel is a joke. It’s a step up from a back pockets. The bathrooms are seriously old , with tiny baths , that you have to step into to use the shower , no power in the water pressure . You can’t get Netflix or other streaming services . There is no phone to call to reception, and there is no apparent room service for food despite a restaurant and bar onsite. No leaflets that describe how to order food from the restaurant. The list goes on. I have stayed in air b and bs with better facilities that st least don’t advertise a service that they choose not to provide but don’t tell you it’s not available. Please don’t stay in this hitel. Book another one that’s cheaper that is honest about its facilities . Very disappointing indeed.

Very small squishy rooms. No space for a sofa, coffee or dining table in the room, which we like to have. Expensive for what you get, plus parking is an additional $40 per night, which seems very steep to me. That is whether you use Fable's valet parking service or Wilson's overnight parking block near by. We booked at Fable because it is very close to the Isaac Theatre, where we had a show to go to. Booked the room at a special price- around $135 (usually over $200), and thought this was a bargain until realising parking would be an additional $40 per night.
