Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The location and the atmosphere of the hotel.
The food was expensive.
Breakfast
Classic seaside hotel. Good food and pleasant atmosphere helpful staff Quite a challenging golf course
Wi-Fi was poor to non-existent in the garden room in which we stayed Golf was an extra as we booked through a third party organisation
Breakfast was superb. Location was great for what we needed. Also, the staff were exceptional, always friendly, helpful and smiling.
No towel rail in bathroom. No shower wand in shower, only overhead.
GOLF COURSE, ROOM AND BREAKFAST WERE GOOD. The LOCATION WAS IDEAL FOR TRAVELLING AROUND.
Carpets needed an upgrade
We thought the location of the hotel was excellent, we were able to use the nearby train in two directions and the situation is perfect for coastal and woodland path walking. The staff were very helpful and we enjoyed the pool to ourselves one afternoon. The breakfasts had an excellent choice although do consider having "real" marmalade. The eggs were freshly cooked.
The dinners at the hotel were excellent with vegetables (hooray!) but do think about having a smaller portion of chicken, ,most of your clients I would say would welcome not being faced with a whole chicken breast! Sharper knives would help too!
Comfort and cleanliness of room
The negative point for this hotel was the breakfast service. Help yourself but many things had run out e.g butter/ bread/ fruit salad. Many tables requesting refills but two waiting staff on duty took a long time to ensure requests were seen to. Only one chef on duty cooking eggs, making fruit salad so small queues fired waiting go eggs. Health and Safety needs to be adhered to by waiting staff - waitress continually letting her long hair down and then putting up again. Also waitress removed bacon from container and stood by tea making equipment eating it. My complaint led to manager only charging us for one breakfast with apology of staff shortage. Even so these points should not be happening!
Food, staff
My room was above thd bar and restaurant and they had awful music that was meant to be background that was very thudding. It went on til late meaning sleep and peace wasnt possible. I am with trying to get a refund for the stay via booking.com The rooms didnt have any shampoo and reception couldnt provide any. Might as well stayed at a Premier Inn atleast you get that. For £95 a night without breakfast it was a bad deal.
Good location
Rooms and hirwl a little tired
Location, facilities and value for money
Breakfast being an additional cost and quite pricey if you don’t have cooked breakfast (but this is a personal preference rather than a criticism)
Location, flexibility of check in time, comfort and facilities. Staff were universally helpful.
Internet was patchy.
meals superb, staff friendly. Location very good. Loved swimming pool.
perhaps a clear sign to reception.
The rooms were excellent. Clean and comfortable. The restaurant service was very good and the food selection and quality was excellent.
Good bed , good shower , ample parking, friendly staff
Car park signage lacking .£10.25 for a glass of wine ! Floors n lift creaky . View from window on to wet damp flat roof space .
Great location, very clean. Bed was very comfortable, room was spacious and we loved the facilities
Service in the restaurant was slow and our drinks order was forgotten and only brought out after 2 reminders once we’d already started our meal. Food was delicious though
Fantastic service ! Friendly staff great location swimming pool clean and fun!
Location was great ,staff friendly
The bed was awful ,felt like I was laying in a concrete floor.
Staff on arrival were very helpful, polite and efficient. I needed a bespoke option to assist with the business I was attending the next day and the team accommodated exactly what I needed
Sports bar closed early due to lack of custom and lack of chef meant no food available in there (albeit Food was available in the main restaurant)
Location was ideal for visiting Cromer
Nothing
Position
Dirty carpets in our room; off-hand receptionist on arrival.
Food in restaurant was good
Beds were uncomfortable and old base on bed very worn and squeaky
Caring and helpful staff very professional.
Nothing.
Friendly and professional reception staff and room service staff. Towels provided for the pool which was a nice touch, changing rooms were clean and tidy, pool was also clean with nice seating areas. Would definitely recommend.
Reception and restaurant staff extremely polite and helpful.
Hotel is looking a little jaded, WiFi wasn’t great, food average.
Spacious ground floor room and dog friendly. Use of swimming pool a bonus.
Strong smell of cleaning fluid in the room.
Location very good for train station and local bus
Bathroom blind
The choice at breakfast was good . The dinner was excellent with plenty of choices and well cooked and presented.
Although the choice at breakfast was good it could have been a little warmer. The room was lovely with a terrific shower. A few pictures of lovely Norfolk would have brightened the room.
Clean, everything there that we needed, lovely food, friendly staff. The ladies on reception were very helpful, nothing was too much of a problem. Always said hello and were really good with our little boy as well.
Nothing, it exceeded our expectations
Location - staff
Food and drink very expensive for what it was
Checking-in and parking. Location good and quiet. Breakfast coffee and pastries good.
Most of breakfast was disappointing: hard eggs, hash brown was cold, everything else lukewarm.
Location was good and staff were welcoming
Limited facilities. Tv too small. Carpet could have been cleaner. Extractor fan in bathroom was not wiorking .
Friendly staff, great pool
The hole in one bar, staff not great and the bar & kitchen was messy
Friendly and welcoming, clean, fantastic breakfasts.
Could have more storage for clothes and maybe a little fridge in the rooms.
Very nice hotel in a great location
First night the phone went off at 11.45/answered to only a buzzing and again at 12.15 and 0100/0200 then phoned to receptionist who said he would try and sort / off again at 0300/0400 and both times phoned receptionist and was not told to unplug behind a cabinet, off again 0500/0600 then got up. After showering went to receptionist and said i would unplug if it did not interfere with there telephone system and they agreed (the phone was unplugged for the rest of the stay) Sunday morning tried to have a day out but had to return midday due to overtired. Spoiling the whole weekend 😩
Staff were great
For the cost of the room I feel it could of been much cleaner also quieter
I liked the location, the countryside.
I could hear people next to my room chatting, which disturbed my sleep. I think it could be the walls, not sure
Really lovely place to stay I would definitely be staying again
There is nothing to dislike every thing was perfect
Lovely walk-in shower
Bed mattress was very hard
2-4mins walk away from West Runton station. Hole-in-one club with game area and friendly staff. Nice space outside to play with the children. Safe area and nice village. Friendly staff at the resto and bar.
A bit small room, squeaky floor, people outside the hallway/stairs are too loud. We weren’t able to sleep because of the loud noise at night time. Limited swimming pool capacity.
Im Restaurant war leider so einiges "auf der Karte" aber nicht mehr verfügbar.
Room was fantastic after I got us moved. The deserts from menu were lovely
Not all staff including managers were happy Location is not good you need to use car all the time. As it has golf course you are woken by early golfers
No better than a premier inn
location
Lovely big room, comfy bed, beautiful bathroom, fab location, use of swimming pool.
No wifi, broken TV and terrifying receptionist.
Nice location, excellent room and good value for money.
The hotel was fab. Staff really went above and beyond. Rooms great size. Lovely clean pool. Best part for us was the restaurant. The best food ever. Location great and bonus of being a five minute stroll to the train station.will be back very soon.
Nothing to dislike.
We spent a few days here in July. The hotel had a lovely indoor pool with no restrictions on time of use, other than if overcrowded which it never was. Breakfast was excellent - buffet style with eggs cooked to your choice, the only downside here was tea & coffee from a self service machine, it would have been nice to have had a pot of tea for your table. Dinner was also very good with generous portions and speedy service. A big plus is the vast amount of car parking, even though the hotel was busy and golfers also using the car park there were ample spaces, the wrap round car park also meant you could park near to your room. Wendy, one of the receptionists was incredibly helpful & charming and a great asset to the hotel, all the waitresses and most other staff also very good and friendly. Some of the bar staff let the side down and could perhaps benefit from some better manners. Location wise the hotel is less than ten minutes drive from Cromer pier, there is a nearby beach too - this is perhaps a fifteen minute walk away.
Location
No WiFi No cold water in out room Electric points no working Unclean Old fashioned Room next to washing machines Dingy Tv didn’t work due to no signal
Breakfast was good, but ovrrpriced Gym is well equipped Nice quiet location
No aircon Only 12 people allowed in pool, and there is no booking system
My room was very good with comfortable beds and spacious. I had a lovely view from the window to the sea and golf course. The bathroom was good and clean and spacious.
The staff seemed stressed in the dining room and bar. One staff member, Lily, was very sharp in response to a question I asked about putting an item on my bill. The breakfast was poor. There were no pastries and fruit juices were not being replenished. At dinner I had crab and in the location of North Norfolk I expected fresh crab. Instead crab meat was put into an imitation plastic crab shell. This was poor for the price.
We booked very last minute not knowing quite what expect. On arrival check in staff very friendly and helpful also booked us into the restaurant. We had a garden superior room. Room was a good size, very clean with all the facilities and it looked over a little garden area. Be aware this area is dog friendly. Swimming pool on site but we didn’t use on this occasion. They have Ev chargers that are very reasonable but you need the app. The food in the restaurant was some of the best we have ever had. And reasonable priced. Cannot recommend highly enough. We went for a walk to find that just up the road is the railway station which you can use to go to Cromer or Sheringham. We intend to return soon and try one of the other rooms in the main part of the hotel, and also explore local area via the train. All in all really good experience.
Very nice spacious room and comfortable bed. Great gym and only 10 minute walk to the beach
Quite a long way from Cromer centre
Nice staff to meet me on arrival
Everything was satisfactory I can't say there was anything that I didn't like
The garden room was comfortable. Staff were friendly only thing that let it down a little the golf bar was a little scruffy.Tables needed wiping and floors sweeping. But the main hotel was lovely
Excellent food, both breakfast and supper The swimming pool which was included in the room price.
The tiger's head in the landing. The small bar of soap to use in the toilet - no soap dish so sink got slimy; a refillable pump dispenser would be smarter.
Located in a lovely village a short walk or drive from the beach. A pub and tearoom are 10 mins’ walk away. Golf right next door if that’s your thing. Indoor pool and a gym. A pleasant bar area and plenty of free parking.
Location excellent. Breakfast good. Room. Carpet needed cleaning. Windows needed cleaning on the outside.
Nothing.
The dog facilities are excellent and everything else ex perienced was first class
The outdoor facilities were the highlight of our stay. There was plenty to keep the children entertained, and the hotel has clearly been designed with families in mind. If you're travelling with young children, this is definitely one of its strongest selling points. Unfortunately, that's where the positives largely ended. The hotel itself is a strange mix of modern and dated. Some areas have clearly been refurbished to a good standard, while others feel as though they've been untouched for decades. Rather than feeling charming, the older sections simply looked tired and in need of attention. The cleanliness of our room was also disappointing. At first glance it appeared clean, but it quickly became obvious that only the areas at eye level and below had been properly cleaned. There were cobwebs in several places around the room, making it seem as though anything above waist height had been completely overlooked. Breakfast was by far the biggest let-down. Aside from the croissants, which were fresh and enjoyable, and the bacon, the overall quality was very poor. The bread was thin and stale, several items appeared to be tinned, and many of the mugs and glasses were dirty. Most concerning of all, we found at least three hairs in different food items during breakfast. After reading previous reviews, it seems this has been mentioned by other guests before, which makes it even more disappointing that nothing appears to have changed. The catering staff also left a poor impression. Their uniforms looked untidy, several had visibly dirty shoes, and basic customer service seemed to be lacking. A smile or simple greeting would have gone a long way. One final piece of advice: avoid the evening cocktails. They're poured from pre-mixed bottles but are priced as though they're freshly made by a bartender, making them very poor value for money. Overall, this hotel has huge potential. The family-friendly outdoor facilities are excellent, and the refurbishment shows that investment has been made. However, inconsistent housekeeping, poor food hygiene standards, disappointing breakfast quality, and dated interiors significantly let the experience down. With higher standards of cleanliness, better attention to food preparation, and improved customer service, this could be a fantastic family hotel. Sadly, based on our experience, it falls well short of what we'd expected.
An older property but well maintained and very clean. Room was good size and well serviced
Walls seem to be a bit thin and there is some noise heard from other rooms
Enjoyed the pool and the evening meal we had. Staff were very helpful and helped us to extend our stay at short notice.
Room was a little noisy
Great location, Great drink and food selection, Great bedroom and breakfast.
Some male staff lack of warmth in interactions.
Swimming pool.. layout of the hotel. Lounge. Room.
Machine next door in the morning (washing machine?).
Our room was fine it had a nice view and plenty of space to sit to relax. The location is very good to get from each location in north norfolk. We ate at the hotel , the food was good and the staff were polite.
There nothing we took a dislike to.
The glass of wine we bought at the bar as a nightcap had been stored in open bottles for too long and were undrinkable. Considering the price this was unacceptable.
Staff very helpful, food was very good
At times staff were thin on the ground, particularly in the bar
N/A
Better room with solid walls.
Breakfast was very nice.
The bathroom was very modern and the room was spacious. Wasn't too much noise from surrounding rooms.
The cost of the room was a little pricey for the service provided. Whilst staff were overall helpful, the bar staff on both evenings did not make us feel like we were welcome so we cut our evenings short as the atmosphere was not a good one.
The breakfast was freshly cooked
Didn't like the tea or coffee
Great location, great Staff, great hotel
Did not find anything. A great hotel.
Staff very helpful Breakfast and foid good
Not enough staff at breakfast Chairs in dining room need replacing as very soft and u sink down Decoration in hotel dated
Great location, friendly staff, an all round winner.
It was very homely and I felt very comfortable being on my own there. Most of the staff were very friendly
I enjoyed most of the breakfast but the sausages and bacon dont keep well in the hot trays . I know it must be difficult but they were really hard, I couldn’t even cut them
We stayed at the hotel for 1 night having visited nearby Cromer. The public areas within the hotel were fine, although very quiet in the evening. However, given it was a Sunday, that was to be expected. Our room was on the 3rd floor for which there is a lift. The room was fine, clean and had a very nice shower room. The hotel is linked to a 9 hole golf course which has its own clubhouse/ bar that is also available to hotel guests, although we didn't have time to use these facilities. I would stay here again if was in the area in future.
We like our cosy bedroom on the top floor, and had a view of the sunset. But our view of the sea was obstructed by another turret-like section of the building.
My husband checked out the swimming pool and the smell of chlorine was quite strong, so we didn't bother using it.
Comfortable & really nice. Met our needs

The room was spacious, clean and comfortable with lovely views and it was also in a good location
The swimming pool was full of dead flies !!! (Proper grim). Also the whole hotel looked old/tired and is in need of a bit of a refresh. And you could never find staff (eg having to wait for ages to get seated at breakfast, then for the cook to make eggs, then for checkout etc) and they seemed pretty grumpy too!!
For the price breakfast should have been included.
The location plus lovely old building.
The outside seating area could do with refurbishing.
Part of the Mackenzie group, the Links hotel is ideally located for visiting Sheringham, Cromer and Holt in Norfolk. West Runton station is a one minute walk away serving Norwich or Sheringham It's a clean and well run hotel with friendly staff. The food is excellent with a reasonable selection of options on the menu. Attached is a nine hole golf course with a lovely but small club house. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel which is reasonably priced.
Lovely hotel set in glorious grounds and alongside a golf course. We had a garden room with our dog and it was nicely decorated and very clean. There were toiletries provided in the bathroom and a dog bed, towel and dog biscuits were provided for our dog. We had breakfasts ordered through room service. The cooked breakfasts were lovely and tasty using high quality ingredients. Hotel is close to Cromer which was ideal for us. Great hotel 5****
The hotel is ok. On the positive side, the bed was comfortable and the staff efficient. If your vibe is ‘old people’s home’ this fits the bill. A bit dated. But clean.
Very dated
Location and friendly staff
TV is too old and didn’t work
We expected a nice stay, the hotel looked horrid from the outside and inside, the areas were scruffy. The bedroom was very dated, the phone didn't work to even call reception and the radiator in the bathroom switch was hidden, the bathroom was freezing, in July. Their was a constant humming, presumably from an air con / heating unit. The restaurant was empty and we heard a lady behind us who was just leaving, tell the waitress the food was awful. We didn't like it much either. Poor wine choice for just a glass. In our bedroom the leather hair had a huge rip on the seat. Just all unpleasant. Not equal to the star status advertised, whatsoever
Lovely clean hotel in a great location
Nothing
Relaxed atmosphere
Breakfast was good but staff were not toppoup buffet or available when arriving
Easy access plenty of space easy parking meats all expectations
Nothing to add
Everything
Everything
We liked the tables in the bar so we could take our dog for our evening meal. Courtyard room was also dog friendly.
Wider choice of main courses meals.
Breakfast was good/good value. Plenty of parking space. Fan provided in room.
Not enough staff on breakfast duty. No selection of teabags in the room.
The location was good
The food was of poor quality and some of the staff were quite rude
Perfect location for us, between train station and campsite. Comfortable beds, very good food, spacious bar and dining room. We asked for a quiet room and were given one on the second floor - noise at all at night.
Nothing - only that the room was very expensive (it was a super room but I booked a standard twin room, not a de luxe version.)
great rooms ,food & bar spent 4 days there it was really nice
Nice room, good pool.
Next to no cold water flow. Poor TV reception, poor WiFi.
Comfy and clean as always
Sadly the WiFi wasn’t working for me atall
Traditional comfortable hotel set in a beautiful location near to the coast with great walks, the additional golf course added to the enjoyment! Exceptional standards of cleanliness throughout, all rooms provided guests with comfort and excellent housekeeping facilities.
Overall the internal decor and fittings could benefit from some attention, the lift is very small and old, and some of the heating fittings have rusted and leak. The reception area could benefit from a makeover to enhance the welcome to the hotel and the addition of fresh flowers would enhance the overall ambience.
Well worth a visit. Hotel old but lots of charm and character. Have some amazing rooms and affordable prices too. So helpful. Nothing to much trouble. There into blu restaurant was fabulous. What can I say portions sizes very generous and even offered us a sunday lunch (technically stopped at 4pm) but hoist said there plenty so if you would like a sunday lunch that's completely fine. We were booked in at 8pm so not an early booking either. Just goes to show how great some places can be and how accommodation they can be. 5 stars for these guys thank-you. Portions sizes where fantastic and desserts were out of this world. Such good value for money. Sorry but had far more expensive meals with less food but price tag way more. try them out if your not sure where to eat while away.
