The staff were great, llocation is perfect the breakfast was good.
A damp mouldy smell from the carpets.
Lovely room comfortable and clean. Location is perfect for all Cromer amenities. Great having a restaurant and bar. All staff helpful and friendly
Liked everything
It is a beautiful old building, we loved the history and loved out views looking out to sea.
We loved the property.
Our room was very good
The food was poor. A large party was in the hotel at the same time and unfortunately special treatment was given. Breakfast food was precooked and when we received it, it was obvious. No pastries left and very little fruit. We had one evening meal and again the food was okay but again very focused on the large party.
Very friendly staff, very good food (both at breakfast and at dinner), pleasant public areas, excellent views across the seafront.
The hotel was forced to downgrade our room due to a booking mix up (bookings.com failed badly here, with the hotel description and photos not matching what was on offer), which put us in a barely acceptable room. A great disappointment. Parking at the hotel is extremely limited, so be prepared to park on the street, although there is currently no street parking charge.
Good
Miserable staff
The hotel was well maintained and had all the facilities needed. Staff were friendly and parking was available.
Perfect location could easily walk to the station and straight across to the beach and a couple minute walk to the town. The staff were all really helpful and polite when we arrived and throughout our stay. Very accommodating and always clean, would recommend staying again.

loverly hotel great views great over looking sea and pier breakfast was plenty staff very helpful and had parking but if full there is parking right in front of hotel free
The art deco plus parking and sea views
Good could have been better , breakfast on day one bacon was overcooked beans were cold Breakfast on day two eggs not cooked on Benedict on both days I had to ask for my order to be taken Main meal of fish … fish batter was overcooked
Perfect sea-front location with sea views from some of the rooms, and only minutes away from the beach, pier, town centre and other attractions. Had a lovely cheerful welcome at check-in, and the staff were all very friendly and eager to help. Room was clean and comfortable. On-site bar and restaurant also great for an evening meal. Also, the building itself is lovely.
Getting the shower to a comfortable temperature was a bit of a mission.
the variety of breakfast was good all of the cerails fruit juices etc no complaints
our room was 37 we are 2 older people so we found the room very small and older people struggle to climb into a bath a shower would be much better the wyfi in the hotel was also very good
Location, service and facilities were excellent
Beds were a little too firm for us
The room was lovely with a sea view Bed and pillows were wonderful The pizzas were fantastic
The service at breakfast was a bit slow you could probably ask guest when they arrive what time they would like breakfast and allocate them a slot time so chef can cope
We did not have breakfast as we were forgotten after placing our order, and after waiting for nearly an hour we decided to leave
Above answer, plus stained carpet
Breakfast - good hot choices. Location - near to the pier and town. Staff were all very friendly. Nice toiletries in the shower room. Free car park - no problem parking on arrival.
When it rained, the chairs on the terrace took ages to dry out. A shame because its a lovely spot. Only 4 hangers in the wardrobe and nowhere else to hang coats/jackets. Bit of a stretch for the hairdryer to dry your hair in front of a mirror. Bar closed quite early for a Saturday night, although other guests were served after we were told it was closed.
Comfortable, relaxed but efficient atmosphere in well located, interesting historic building, with full catering on offer. The standard of food was excellent both at breakfast and dinner. There was also flexibility with breakfast options (you didn’t have to go for the full breakfast, but could order and pay for specific items only if wanted).
The exterior was in need of some refurbishment (painting, etc.). A very minor gripe was that there was no hook on the bathroom door to hang items on etc. (my daughter’s room apparently included no hooks at all).
Excellent staff could not be more helpful thanks
Nothing not to like
nice building
room small for two people dog friendly is ok but not in restaurant at night or ask the people sitting there if they mind a dog at the next table some people do not like dogs
The location is ideal 👌 The sea views are perfect. Yes it's a victorian build and some things are tired but generally in very good condition. The bedrooms are very comfortable.
Traditional of the whole building
Nothing
Everything from the staff to the accommodation!
We lved it all except leaving!
We don’t stay at the hotel but often call for a drink on the lovely terrace whilst on a regular break in Cromer. The bar staff are fantastic, a real credit to the Cliftonville. Friendly, helpful, chatty, polite and always have time for us and the dog. Special mention to the Patrick Swayze lookalike barman and the new bar girl/waitress who always says hello to our Jack Russell with a biscuit. We tried the pizza this week which was excellent! Sunday lunch is even better! A lovely relaxed atmosphere, just how it should be, highly recommend.
I’ve always wanted to stay in this hotel after passing it regularly 10 years or more every day for two years, great location on overlooking the coast and make sure you try the Coastal pizza as it’s large and outstanding.
Breakfast was lovely
Three windows in bedroomonly one opened slightly could be a fire hazard you wouldn't get out
The location, the facilities, the staff and the food.
Cleanliness can improve.
The breakfast. The staff and the room upgrade
Excellent full breakfast and varied menu. Very comfy bed. Excellent and reasonably priced evening menu.
Had everything i needed
Nice and clean
Nothing
Most beautiful place to stay, nice room with a view at the sea. Friendly staff. Great meals.
Excellent beds,
Nothing to dislike
Another lovely stay at the Cliftonville. Lovely clean room, welcoming and very friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. Will definitely be coming again. Lovely hotel feels like stepping back I time but in a lovely way. Thank you just keep doing what you do it’s great
excellent helpful staff and very friendly from the second we arrived. Lovely decor and good atmosphere. Hotel is in the perfect location with wonderful views of the sea.
Car park was very dirty and the back of the property needed smarting/tidying up. No serving signs at the corners of the bar on carnival night would have avoided me being ignored.
My best stay yet at the Cliftonville. All staff we met were friendly, welcoming and helpfull. The Whole building was looking good with some quirky pieces of nostalgic furniture and bits and pieces (lots of old radios ) The room was very good and the provision for dogs was excellent, bed, blanket, water bowl and lots of treats. Breakfast on the first morning was very good , nice menu selection and well presented. Having dogs we couldn't use the main dining room, which was a pity, we had to cross the reception to get cereal, toast etc. Second morning the full breakfast was served minus the sausage on the menu a member of staff was informed and the missing items brought to the table. The bacon was over cooked and very hard as was the fried egg yolk, A member of our group asked for red sauce, we are still waiting for it to arrive. The second breakfast aside a lovely stay
Awful experience. We walked in and nobody was in the hotel bar. Asked for coffee and bacon rolls. No coffee but bacon rolls came really quickly. 2 ladies were just chatting and not clearing our table even though I asked. One of the ladies was filling salt and pepper up but not attending to coffee orders. The excuse was its was carnival day, well no customers were actually in the bar at the time. People were complaining they were not getting their drinks and saying the place was a complete mess. Ordered another coffee but was told there was half hour wait although still the ladies at the bar were stood chatting and not attending to customers. Don't waste your time, an absolute disaster from start to finish.
View from the room. Good traditional hotel.
Poor quality breakfast. Poor customer service too.
Excellent location with good sea views. Food was of a high quality. Comfortable, clean rooms and very helpful, courteous staff.
The lift would benefit from some modernisation.
We have been staying at hotel 4 times a year for 6 years .We have found the hotel looking tired .We have stayed in room 26 this time paint on doors and skirting was chiped hole where smoke alarm had been removed not painted. The 2 sash windows could be opened so it was easy to fall out .Glass was cracked in window repaired with glue should have safety film on it. bath room window was rotten
Mixed experience – great location and friendly staff, but room was disappointing We stayed at the Cliftonville Hotel and, while there were some positives, unfortunately the room let the stay down. We booked a Cosy Double room for two people. Although the description does mention that these rooms are ideal for solo travellers, this wasn’t something I noticed when booking. Having stayed in the room, I do feel that it is far too small to comfortably accommodate two people and, in my opinion, should either only be available to book for one person or have a much clearer warning about the size when booking. The room was also extremely hot, even with the window open. A fan was provided, which was appreciated, but unfortunately it was broken when you tried to lift or adjust it, and the remote didn’t work either. The bathroom was particularly cramped. The shower cubicle itself was very small, which would have been manageable, but the temperature and on/off controls protruded around a third of the way into the shower space, making it very difficult to move around comfortably. There were also a few cleanliness/maintenance issues. The mirror on the dressing table was visibly dirty and didn’t appear to have been wiped for some time. That said, the hotel itself is pleasant and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. We didn’t eat at the hotel, so I can’t comment on the food, but the bar was nice and there was a good outdoor seating area. The location is also a real positive. It’s very central, with the seafront and other amenities just a short walk away, making it a convenient base for exploring Cromer. Overall, I think the hotel has a lot going for it, particularly the location and friendly staff, but the size and condition of the Cosy Double room made our stay less comfortable than we had hoped.
The location is fantastic for visiting Cromer, breakfast was excellent, and the staff were helpful and chatty. We didn't have dinner at the hotel as only stayed for one night and had other plans but what we see came out looked good.
Price was quite high but that is expected for the time of year.
The Cliftonville hotel has the best location and views in Cromer. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Roz and Izzy went above and beyond to make our stay the best it could be. The rooms are small and the stairs are challenging to the upper rooms. But the views, the staff and the location far outweigh any concerns.
Very pleasant seaside hotel. Excellent value for money, great location and the staff were helpful and friendly. Our room had a great sea view and was spotless. Would definitely choose this hotel again
Breakfast fine. Dinner good. Fan was appreciated.
Size of room poor. Couldn't upgrade as unavailable. Television handset was verging on useless.
Breakfast great, service brilliant, service with a smile, felt really important
No complaints whatsoever
I’ve stayed at the Cliftonville for a number of years. The hotel is in a good location near the centre of Cromer and near to the bus and train station for visiting other nearby places. It is an old building, full of character, which includes modern facilities in the rooms. The hotel has a high standard of cleanliness and is well maintained. I had breakfast and an evening meal. There was a good choice on the menu, the food was cooked well with good service. As I have visited previously, I know some of the staff, it is like visiting friends.
The evening food was great.
The room was awful no windows opened so we had to get up at 5am and go outside until breakfast. Worse value for money if our entire 8 days in the region. Come on start giving guest what they are paying for.
Really good experience staying at the Cliftonville hotel. It's located on the sea front a short walk into the centre of Cromer. The building its self is impressive with sweeping wooden stairs climbing from an open reception. The rooms are comfortable and the staff are incredibly helpful and engaging.
The beauty of this Edwardian Hotel which has been decorated tastefully and sympathetically. My single room was immaculate, with sea views and a really comfortable bed!
The staff seemed oblivious to the fact that there were guests in the hotel. Loud and highly personal conversations were carried out in public spaces throughout my stay. Real staff training needs to be implemented because the quality of professionalism, demonstrated by staff, lets this potentially outstanding hotel down.
The Cliftonville is a subtly beautiful hotel. I booked a single room for one nights' stay and, although compact, the room was exquisitely decorated and quite charming. The bed was extremely comfortable and I enjoyed an excellent nights sleep. I also had a stunning sea view. Bizarrely, the staff seemed oblivious to the fact that there were guests in the hotel and conducted loud conversations across public areas. The content of some dialogue was personal and inappropriate. Staff development and training needs to be rigorously implemented.
lovely hotel - will visit in future with my partner
Location was excellent and pet friendly. All staff were very helpful.
Breakfast was superb. The room was spacious and nicely decorated. It had everything you could want, tea & coffee facilities, fridge, snacks etc
Nothing, we enjoyed our stay!
Lovely friendly welcome. Recognised our anniversary & reason for staying at hotel
Everything, the view was superb
Nothing
Bardzo czysty. Bardzo miła obsługa. Pyszne jedzenia.
Wszystko jest dobrze. Wszystko nam się podobało
The position was excellent
It was very tired looking needs decorating desperately
The sea front location was great and whilst the room was very small, it was comfortable.
Room size, room rate, location of room (was on 3rd floor).
Overall OK, felt staff were not that bothered had to keep asking. I can't say it was a bad experience but if I went to Cromer again I will look elsewhere
Some staff are rude, "working to rule", No uniforms, staff wearing unacceptable clothing, manager rude, food has definitely gone down hill,( food quality.) Flying ants in dining room. However room 6 spotless.
Room was clean, all staff very friendly and helpful. Nice breakfast with great choices.
Accessibility..lots of stairs and a very small lift right off to one side of the building. Evening menu limited and very pricey.
Breakfast was great Location was great
Nothing
Grand entrance and nicely furnished throughout. Convenient location - close but not too close to the town centre, and just a short walk from the train station. Comfortable stay - even had a decent fan in the room - with excellent guest services. Cromer itself was a little disappointing. However, I would definitely stay here again and spend more time in the surrounding areas, such as Sheringham.
The bedroom windows were pretty filthy on the outside, which marred the sea view and my sunrise photos!
The hotel has been updated since our last stay but it retains its elegant, old-fashioned charm, which is an excellent thing because the Art Nouveau features are a sight to behold. The Cliftonville is a modern and efficient hotel with friendly staff and the standard of cleanliness is great! There are sea views in both the restaurant and the rooms and, considering you get the iconic view of the pier and the sea, the price is quite reasonable. The rooms have everything you might need, the toiletries smell great and the honesty bar is a nice touch. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone who loves Cromer as much as we do!!
Lovely friendly receptionist and staff members.
The photos made it look like it was next to the beach, which although you can see the sea, you can't get to it without walking along and going down lots of steps or Ramps.
Lovely hotel! When we got there we were upgraded to a turret room which was lovely!
Fantastic beachfront location, easy walking distance to many attractions in the town area, and to the railway station. Beautiful historic building. Very charming staff - from reception to restaurant/bar to cleaners - who seem to take pride in providing hospitality, knowing the hotel and the area, and making a welcoming environment for all visitors.
This historic property is not comfortable in hot weather. I booked a few days in Cromer in an attempt to escape one of the 2026 heat waves in London, and while the sea breezes outdoors were cool and refreshing, the hotel rooms (like many buildings in England) trapped the heat from the daytime sunshine. My room was like a sauna even overnight, despite the fans provided by the hotel. I'm sure it is more comfortable in milder weather.
Fabulous faded glory and superb location
Nothing not to like
It’s location, comfortable bed, good food
Dated needs good refurb
Olde worlde feel, comfortable room, excellent breakfast. Great location near the beach
Parking was advertised, but very few places and not enough room to park safely if there was s space.
Nice hotel (grand in the public areas), well located on the sea front. Overall the stay was really good, but as we had paid for the "Bigger Comfy" rooms there were a couple of niggles. The room had four full height "cupboards" with a total of over 20 hangers, but there was only one small bedside drawer for non-hanging and other personal possessions. Our first day here it was windy and one of the sash windows constantly rattled until we managed to improvise wedges with teabag packets! We ate there one night and the food was good. The staff were great and service excellent. Breakfast was fine, although it is very irritating in that the Cliftonville, along with other places, is Americanising the English breakfast with streaky bacon (cheaper) rather than providing the much nicer back bacon.
We had a wonderful stay at the Cliftonville Hotel in Cromer. The hotel was lovely, but what really made our visit special was the incredible staff. Every member of the team was so friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and they always went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. It was a pleasure chatting with them, and they made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Their excellent customer service really made a difference to our stay. We would definitely recommend the Cliftonville Hotel to anyone visiting Cromer, and we look forward to staying there again.
Great location. Friendly and helpful staff. Cool bar and restaurant.
Great location: above the esplanade and a short walk from the town centre and pier. Bus stops and parking nearby. Clean, spacious and comfortable room with sea view. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Good choice of food. All meals prepared to a high standard. Many thanks to all the staff who made our stay so pleasant and relaxing !
We loved staying with you, staff were very friendly Our room 24 was a bit small for comfy room should really be a cosy , but lovely and clean I do think £25 a night for a dog a bit expensive But we hopefully will be back
Lovely hotel without pretensions. Staff all friendly and helpful. Location wonderful and views from our rooms fantastic. Proper seaside hotel.
Just slightly out of the busy part of Cromer but right by the seafront path. Rooms and beds really comfortable and the decor in keeping without trying too hard.
A nice break with my dog No complaints
Not a lot
Very small room, windows very dirty, no room for 1 bedside tables unfriendly staff
Friendly atmosphere, friendly staff, plenty of places to sit, great sea views.
Location staff
Widows need replacing filthy outside and bit's of wood wedges to keep them open
Being near the sea
The staff very rude and unhelpful
Very friendly and so over. Welcome the dog gifrs
Nothing we arived an got a very welcome
Very enjoyable eggs Benedict
Car parking
Lovely old building, great position near to pier and also sea view
Minor detail but poach eggs overdone at breakfast.
The location is brilliant the beds were comfortable
The staff although friendly seemed very unorganised. The noise our toilet made we reported but was told there was nothing wrong with it.The hotel just seemed tired and dated.
The food was outstanding, the staff were friendly, helpful and looked happy. The room was comfortable and clean with a sea view. The hotel has such a lovely, relaxed atmosphere and the icing on the cake was the way our four legged friends are made so welcome with a bowl, towel and little dog hamper. Wish we had stayed longer but will definitely go back.
Can't fault anything.
Great location. Paid for a better room with sea view. The room was excellent and so was the view.
Dining/breakfast room chairs a bit shabby and not very comfortable. The sofa was fine. The windows needed a clean.
Some of our family stayed at The Cliftonville in Cromer. We received outstanding service by Izzy. Her people skills are absolutely amazing. She is incredibly kind, helpful, and attentive, and she has a remarkable ability to remember what guests have ordered or requested, which really made us feel valued and looked after throughout our stay. Izzy always greeted everyone with a smile and went out of her way to make sure guests were comfortable and happy. Her friendly and professional manner is a real credit to The Cliftonville. It’s rare these days to come across someone who combines efficiency with such genuine warmth and care. Thank you, Izzy, for helping make our stay in Cromer so enjoyable.

First time booking at this hotel, usually stop at the Grove, but this will be our go to hotel in cromer from now on, we had a fantastic time. The staff are all so helpful and friendly, Jodie on reception is an absolute gem, always had a smile and very helpful, and the staff in bar and dining area are all very good, Olivia and Amelia were lovely and professional as was all in there. And breakfast was amazingly good and a lot of choice, evening meals also very good, to good in fact as I had to cut down when I got home to lose a couple of pounds x We had room 6 which is a suite, it was lovely, bathroom has a stand alone bath and walk-in shower, room has a dressing room area and a huge bedroom, and we had a lovely sea view. House keeping did our room every day, and did a fantastic job, Thankyou x As in cromer there is limited car parks at the hotel, but when we arrived we got a good space in there immediately, result! We were sad to go home, but we will definitely come back soon Thanks to you all 😊
Location good. Bar and public areas good...veryclean
Tiny room very hot ... windows very dodgy and rickerty...premium price did not match room
Lift to room and storage for mobility scooter if required. Food was god. Car park behind the hotel was a plus but not many spaces. Plenty of outside tables if required. The show n the pier was very good. The staff were excellent.
Food not included in price. B&B would be better than room only. The hairdryer had a short cable and when plugged into the only plug available without moving furniture it couldn't reach the mirror so styling hair was impossible!!!! No mini fridge to keep supplied water cool. Not enough info/leaflets detailing things to do in the area. Nothing about Hillside animal sanctuary anywhere.
The Edwardian building was full of character.
The stairs. Heavy door to open from the inside on our room
We had a lovely room with sea views, well furnished and equipped. All staff were very friendly and helpful Breakfasts included many unusual options, very tasty
Great location and historic building
Very hot rooms during heatwave
Looking out at the sea from our room.
The drinks was too expensive in hotel
Whole place was beautiful , if needed there was sweet and savoury treats in room aswell as usual tea coffee etc
Nothing was wrong
Beautiful old Victoria building amazing stair case the room was lovely over looking the sea and Cromer pier ❤️
Breakfast was very good, staff were friendly and helpful.
The kettle In our room did not work.
The food was OK if you were willing to wait quite a while for it.
We booked a Deluxe Double Room but the room we had was in the turret and wasn't as big as the one that was advertisesd as a Deluxe double room. When I asked the receptionist about it, she said that they had refurbished the hotel and that Booking.com's photos were out of date, but I couldn't work out why the room was a lot smaller than advertised. Did they put a wall in to make it smaller?
