Location & evening drinks in the outdoors
Was a lot of money for the room with breakfast which was a hamper. Room over looked car park despite costing £177 per night plus an early check in would have cost an extra £10 per hour. The room wasn’t completely clean & the whole hotel, bar, stairways needs to be redecorated as they have seen better days, such a shame as the location is good
Location, restaurant on site.
Needs refurbishing, especially the bathroom in the family room. Whilst the breakfast basket was ok and fresh milk and fruit in the room was nice, it would have been preferable if breakfast was available in the restaurant.
A nice room, friendly and helpful staff.
Breakfast was only pre-packed croissant and cereal.
Front of house staff were very friendly
Extremely disappointed with the cleanliness. Having stayed in this hotel on previous occasions the standard of hygiene has deteriorated and leaves a lot to be desired. When I complained I was told that a manager would contact me. I emailed the manager but had no contact or reply. Will not be revisiting. Would not recommend The Dormy House
Food was good , breakfast poor would have preferred a cooked breakfast
Nothing
Room comfortable, with fridge and fresh milk.
Breakfast was a hamper in the room. Not impressed.
Breakfast - was expecting cooked breakfast but got oat pots and yogurt
low ceilings, no shower curtain, no walk in shower, shower was a pain to use and would not recommend as it is.
Rooms are great. Excellent bar service in the evening
You have a kitchen that does lunches and dinners, why don't you offer a cooked breakfast
Staff friendly and helpfull. Breakfast fine .Food overall exellent.
All
They were extremely unhelpful when I needed some understanding.
No ability to consider my individual situation. Robotic like answers re policies!
Lovely friendly hotel ideally situated for visiting numerous attractions. Breakfast hampers in the room are a lovely touch and very convenient for the not so early risers. Very comfortable beds with crisp white linen and luxurious feeling duvets.
Though perfectly adequate and very clean and tidy, our room was on the small size with way too much furniture and in need of refurbishment.
Comfy bed breakfast hamper in room topped up every day & fridge in room 5 minute walk to the beach, bus stop 2 minute walk good carpark plenty of spaces staff lovely.
No hot water in bathroom & room in need of major revamp hole in bathroom door toilet paper 1ply no cooked breakfast in restaurant but serving meals from lunchtime?.
I loved everything about the property. It is a lovely local B&B, the staff are absolutely lovely, the location was great. I was able to park my car on arrival even though I arrived earlier than the check-in time, and was able to leave it after I had checked out. The star of the show was the balcony room overlooking the cliff tops and sea. I have wanted to stay in this specific room for a long time and it did not disappoint. The view from the balcony was perfect, lovely to have an evening drink on and a morning coffee. The bath in the room was incredible. It was so deep and relaxing. The bed was comfy and cosy and the breakfast hamper had vegan options at my request. It was a perfect stay!
Absolutely nothing - it was perfect!
The breakfast was really poor. Alpen, instant porridge, croissants, yogurts and fruit which had to be eaten in our room. We were expecting a good choice of hot and cold breakfasts and were very disappointed with the meagre selection.
There was a large pipe outside our room. I think it was a flue or extraction pipe, possibly fir the kitchen. It was extremely noisy and a couple of times it was chugging away all evening, only cutting off at 1am. It kept us awake and detracted from the view out of our window. The hotel looked a bit run down, with scraped paint on doors and walls, unvaccuumed carpets on the stairs and a lack of attention to detail.
Great staff, close to the beaches, good views.
Standard room, for the price, a bit small but comfy.
It was a convenient location.
Breakfast included was a hamper in our room, would have preferred to be told this on booking so we were aware there was no hot food available. No proper shower.
Location was good and lovely view from bedroom window
Greeted by a lady with a cat on a lead ! To be told our breakfast hamper was in the room , they need to tell you that it’s a hamper as we thought we’d get a proper breakfast ! Room wasn’t very clean , kettle had lots of limescale in so we didn’t use it.
really friendly staff
continental breakfast on the Saturday only, when paid for fullenglish both days, also £5 for a pint of lime and soda which is really expensive for soft drinks which in any pub is £1.50 max
Good location to visit the North Norfolk coast
It was fine for the price paid
The hotel is extremely clean. There are some areas which need updating and repairing due to the amount of usage. The bedroom is small but well equipped. The staff are amazing….always polite, smiling and ready to help. We had not booked for dinner on a bank holiday (with over 300 covers for meals )but they accommodated us making us feel welcome.
We assumed ‘ including breakfast’ in the price meant a full English cooked breakfast! Instead we found a hamper filled with goodies in our room. Nice but not for us! This was not communicated properly in the description. However as there was a golfing group staying that weekend we were offered a cooked breakfast.
The room was ok.
No option of a cooked breakfast. It was not clear to us in the website that this was the case (NB The pamphlet "A Warm, Friendly Welcome at Dormy House" found by the front door, offers a Dormy Breakfast Club every day during school holidays. However we were advised by reception that this pamphlet was out of date as this breakfast alternative has now been discontinued..) No constant hot water for a shower during busy times. Upon returning to the room late afternoon of the second day, a pass key had been left in the door and the room was found to be unlocked. Hotel was expensive for the facilities offered. Food in the bar seemed to be expensive for the quality provided.
Charming and great location
Noise from the next room all night. Paper thin walls - we didn’t sleep. The fire alarm went off v early it was a false alarm.
Great location, great food, friendly staff and dog friendly all we hoped for. Best thing was the continental breakfast hamper in the room each day. Will definitely stay again.
Nothing to dislike.
Location was very good. No breakfast in dining room. They provided a continental breakfast in your room in a hamper.
That there was no hot breakfast in dining room.
Very clean and very friendly
Just a short drive from Cromer Clean with friendly staff
Very quiet, with not many guests around and the room was at the top of the building with sloping ceilings and I am nearly 6ft so had to watch for bumping head
All staff were excellent
Cooked breakfast not included…… hamper was only adequate…..
The view and walk to the sea (the beautiful West Runton beach) is unbeatable. Calm and quiet, both in the building and surroundings. The care of the staff was just the appropriate amount to make us feel welcome, yet not overburdened. The restaurant felt as if it were used by the locals as well, which is a nice vibe.
A touching-up of the facilities may be timely. But we didn't really mind it very much.
Location
I was a little dissapointed in the breakfast
Room was lovely and spacious, staff super friendly, Dogs welcome.
It was quite far out from everything we needed, the walk into Cromer was long and very dark.
Beautiful location with view over the sea
The room we originally given was very noisy on the main road. So we asked to be moved and we got a room at the back with amazing views of the sea. The one thing I really didn’t like as it said it including breakfast and all breakfast was was a hamper in the room. I think this should’ve been explained when booking.
Fantastic location wonderful views easy access to the beach and neighbouring places to visit. The Dormy sits in a lovely coastal village with natural beauty a place to chill out.
Basic breakfast hamper but plenty provided
There was a someones pubick hair in the shower tray. Someone else's wee down the toilet bowl. The rooms hadn't been vacuumed. There was a faulty electric fan (which had to be removed after we noticed a burning smell) quite scary. The glass/mirrored furniture is all cracked, which was extremely scary considering we had a 5yr old who touches everything! The bathroom floor was filthy and there was orange/red mould on the grout. The cups tasted of wet dog, they were stained, as was the cutlery.
The room was fantastic, especially the room for the children.Everything was clean, and beds were comfortable.
I was disappointed that it said breakfast, and it wasn't a cooked breakfast, but a hamper of food instead. The children were especially disappointed,as they'd been looking forward to bacon etc on their little break. Also a mirror was needed so you could use the hairdryer. The only mirror was in the bathroom.
Great location, very comfortable, amazing amount of breakfast choices in our hamper. Very welcoming reception.
We had trouble with the shower not running away. Which meant we had to keep turning it off to drain.
The location is excellent and the staff were so friendly and incredibly helpful and accommodating. My room was fantastic and included the balcony and amazing views which really helped make the stay.
It would have been nice to have somewhere to have a quiet drink in the public area without feeling you were taking up space in the restaurant.
1. Ideal location, not just because of the amazing view but because it is an easy walk down to the beach, very close to good bus and train connections, and was quiet at night. 2. We enjoyed the breakfast basket in the room, which had a good variety of items and yogurts & milk in the mini fridge. It was great to have a fridge in the room too. 3. The bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. There was also a large fan available - it was a very hot week and so this was appreciated. 4. The food and service in the restaurant was excellent. 5. All the staff we met were friendly, attentive and responsive to our needs. 6. Enormous terrace outside with tables, chairs and also soft sofas and chairs was great to relax in during the evenings. Incredible views!
The bathroom was enclosed and the shower drain let out unpleasant smells. This was really the only thing that reduced the score to 9. A couple of suggestions would make the hotel experience even better: 1. The towel rail was not big enough for the bath towels to dry. We had to drape them over the chairs in the bedroom. A couple of hooks on the back of the bathroom door would be helpful additions. 2. There was a large wardrobe in the room, but only 4 hangers. Having more hangers would be appreciated. 3. Could the giant connect 4 game outside on the terrace be relocated away from the rooms above? Children were playing on it quite late in the evening and it makes a heck of a noise.
Bed was comfortable room was nice food was good staff were good polite and friendly
Disappointed with hamper breakfast and no cooked breakfast and restaurant had gone it was much better with a restaurant also the decor the photo pictures had gone and furniture downstairs
I liked the location and ample parking. Shower was lovely and the complimentary breakfast was nice. Beds very comfy and the view was gorgeous. Waking up to the sound of the sea and gentle mooing from the local cows was really nice.
Complimentary breakfast was nice but a shock as I thought when you said breakfast included that it was a cooked one from downstairs. But was nice to have as a complimentary option. Plug was broken on right side of the bed but this didn't bother us much, and kettle for a family room could do with being a bigger size. Pot holes on the way in need filling asap..lol
The location was superb being next to the beach which is a short walk away.
The decor of the restaurant needs updating and to be made more cosy and welcoming. The tables outside could do with a thorough clean too.Too many cigarettes everywhere.
Reception was welcoming and friendly Great location just a short walk to the beach, the room was clean and comfortable breakfast hamper in room was lovely great the was fresh milk and yoghurt in the fridge as a family we would definitely stay again on our next trip
Nouthing everything was great
Refreshments & breakfast provided
Too remote and quiet
Great location
A bit noisy because of the road
The hotel was very clean and all the staff were friendly and helpful. We were a bit dubious about the breakfast basket but in fact it was well stocked and we really enjoyed it.The outside space at the back the hotel was a bonus, comfortable outside seating and a view of the sea.It was a short walk into the village and walking distance to the beach. Our dog was welcomed, and rather spoilt, as dog treats were available at no cost on the bar We enjoyed the Sunday carvery which had vegetarian options. We will definitely stay at Dormy House again.
We liked everything.
Quiet, peaceful and very relaxing. Polite and engaging staff. Lovely view from our room and we loved the breakfast hamper which made a nice change. Nice bar and restaurant with a very casual feel.
Bathroom was a bit small but everything worked well and it did the job.
We loved the location, and our room was immaculately clean!
The lack of WIFI coverage in our room. Room 16.
Excellent sea view location & the seafood linguine was fab
The bed was very firm so unfortunately we didn’t sleep well
Lovely location
Nothing
Nice comfy bed, friendly staff.
All ok.
Comfortable bed. Nice llocation.
Breakfast was inadequate. We thought it would be a full hot breakfast. Disappointed. No good coffee.
Location was good
Room had sloping roof, not very safe when getting up in the night.and I mean very sloping… Poor cleanliness in room carpets needed a good hoover and room needed a good dusting.. No cooked breakfast but a very poor hamper in room …if we had have eaten it we would have had to sit in bed eating cereals.. Had an issue with electric tripping when plugging fan into socket and apparently this happens quite often, but I was shown where the trip switch was on a lower landing as if it happened later in the night as no member of staff in site after 10.30 pm I could resolve it …great! In a nutshell there are better places to stay
The hotel is between Cromer and Sheringham. It was a good walk though so not for the unfit
We came here for 2 nights and brought our 87 year old mum. First night the showers didn't work in any of our 3 rooms. We complained to reception who did not seem surprised. They turned the pump back on and were told they were working again. We got up the following morning to find they weren't working again. We were away in the hot weather with no showers for 2 days. We complained once home and waited days and days for a response. Only to be told they were sending to head office What didn't you like about the property?
The hotel no longer provides a cooked breakfast . The breakfast hamper provided was very good. Our room had a sea view . The staff were all very friendly and there to help. We had an evening meal in the restaurant which was delicious. Very comfortable bed .
The wardrobe and dressing table were old and probably need to be replaced .
Great location and rooms clean. Friendly staff.
For the high price, it’s a shame a cooked breakfast was not included. Breakfast hamper in room was ok and generous, but not the same as a cooked breakfast treat when away.
Near the beach
Breakfast was ok but would have liked cooked option
Friendly helpful staff
Hamper b,fast..no mention on booking it was a hamper to eat in your room on your bed....
Clean and dog friendly
Noise from main road
The view
Miss led by Booking.Com re breakfast included. A small basket of cellophane wrapped food is not my idea of breakfast!! Have stayed at much better hotels for half the price. Wont use Booking.Com again
Beds were comfortable , clean.
Breakfast was not to much, cheap, really lets the property down. More attention to things like kettle, fan, soaps. Wasn’t value for money.
Thought the breakfast hamper was a great idea, the little fridge in the room great with the weather being hot. The staff were all very friendly
Big car park
Location, easy to find and close to the beach path
Its a bit dated, our room (2) was a bit tired! No fan in the bathroom, light over basin didn’t work, shower cubicle quite small and damage to wall by bed.
Excellent staff , food excellent, ideal location .
Sham about breakfast used to be full English, breakfast basket in the room.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming, If you had a request they would have done their best to accomadate you. Bed was very comfortable and pillows also. Very generous breakfast hamper with a fridge. Sea views close to West Runton beach, 10 min walk with free parking at Dormy House, fantastic rear seating plenty of space, dogs welcome, very spacious bar and indoor eating area, toilets very clean and well equipped, great location. Would love to come back.
There is not much I did not like, tea making area felt cramped and near the door. Too much furniture for a smaller room.Would have liked menu on chalk board so you can view it or specials menu, you had to ask for. Learnt about pie night from a non resident? Carvery looked great but next time we will get there earlier in the day
When I got used to breakfast in my room it was fine. Location was lovely. Staff very helpful.
The water system was poor. The sink and shower would not run hot without running the main bath tap first. Water temperature therefore kept changing as the heating cut out, so the bath tap had to be turned on again several times whilst taking a shower.
Location and food was great, staff were very helpful
Super-Friendly staff, nice bar & restaurant. Breakfast hampers in the rooms.
The rooms were quite dated and not as nice as the main downstairs areas of the hotel.
Great location and lovely staff.

Friendly staff
Busy rd , rooms could do with a fresh coat of paint
Nothing the whole experience was appalling!
Everything! Awful staff awful food awful breakfast. Shower didn’t work. Room was noisy! Worst hotel I have ever stayed in!
Beautiful room but needs a good clean. Loved the marble bathroom and roll top bath next to balcony. Sea views and animals lovely to see
Cleanliness a big let down and breakfast hamper. Was expecting a cooked breakfast. Hairs in fridge and cobwebs everywhere. Coffee down walls. Chipped broken coffee table and windows thick of dirt.
Room, bed was comfortable, bath towels excellent. Good sea view. Food was good.
We booked a deluxe double room with sea view and king bed. The view was as described however there was condensation on windows indicating breakdown of double glazing. The bathroom had not been cleaned properly with half empty toiletries left by previous occupants and the bin was left in middle of floor with no liner. The general decor was very worn and dusty. There was more or less constant noise from room above. We had pre booked carvery a couple of days before travelling for 1830 having been assured this would still be available however there was just beef left with very little veg or gravy and all very unappealing. We didn’t have to pay for the little we had however was too late to go anywhere else nearby and we were very hungry after travelling all day. This hotel is in serious need of an upgrade and at the least a deep clean.
We had a lovely plated carvery lunch today. The brisket beef and the turkey were superb. There were 4 of us and we hope to go again. Staff were friendly , surroundings very pleasant.

Friendly staff good location
The breakfast hamper wasn't to our liking and we found the food menu a bit dated ,and over all it looked in need of a bit money spending on it
Great location, staff really friendly. Nice warm welcome. Rooms comfortable and clean. Nice touch with the complimentary breakfast items including fresh milk and fruit in a little fridge.

Lovely clean room, staff very helpful and Friendly.
The continental breakfast was nice, but would be better with some butter and jams for the croissants.
Friendly staff, especially the young lad behind the bar who also checked us in. Great location with lots of parking.
Breakfast is a breakfast hamper with long life croissant, biscuits, porridge pots and orange juice in plastic cups. It would be better if this was in the main dinning area as our room was small. Cooked breakfast is an additional cost. The room was not cleaned daily, the breakfast hamper was topped up daily. The plumbing in the bathroom needs fixing soonest as scolding hot water comes out. There is a note warning you of this in the bathroom.
We both agreed the room was adequate for the price. We had stayed at the Dormy before and really liked our stay, hence us re booking it again. Everything we needed was there and although the bed was a firm small double we had a comfy night's sleep.
We discovered, much to our disappointment, there's no longer a cooked breakfast option - the wording in the Booking.com description does not make this very clear at all. There was just a DIY food basket in our room. The cooked breakfast we had there last time was really good and we had been looking forward to that!
The breakfast was different, supply of brekkie treats in the room. Coffee and tea supplied in the room with a good sized kettle. The bed was super comfy.
The location close to the Village and the beach
Breakfast did not have real coffee or real bread
Great location, free parking on site, absolutely spotless, staff couldn’t do for you
I think the charge for the dog, was a little excessive
Location
In decline, poor development decisions have degraded the experience. Bar prices are high, you pay for a breakfast, but do not get one. They do not even have a restaurant anymore, just restaurant priced bar meals
Friendly atmosphere
Nothing
The staff and restaurant very good, the room was reasonably comfortable with a fridge and complimentary breakfast.
The room we booked was not available for some reason so we agreed to an alternative room before travelling,we thought we would be on the ground floor but on arrival we were put upstairs in room number 14 by far the nosiest room I have ever had on the main road.We had to have windows open because of the heat ,the only fan was totally inadequate and it would be sensible to have a small AC unit in the room.Mentioned this to bar staff as reception was not staffed. We did contemplate moving out early ,only the friendly staff and service changed our mind.
Brilliant location. Ten minute walk to the beach and close to Sheringham and Cromer. Clean and friendly. The breakfast hamper was good and gave me flexibility to eat when I wanted. I was on my own for 2 of the 4 days of my stay but felt very comfortable.
I ate in the restaurant twice and though the meat and fish was good the vegetables were overcooked in the carvery
Location
No option for cooked breakfast
Room was basic but had everything we needed for a 1 night stay. Large and clean bathroom in our room which was good. The included breakfast is a hamper of cereal, porridge pots and biscuits/muffin. Which actually was good for us as we were going for an early 3 course lunch on day of checkout so the hamper allowed us some breakfast without being too full. Visit to Hillside Shire Horse Sanctuary and West Runton beach was lovely, both were in walking distance with the beach a short walk down public footpath.
Would have been nice to have had a sea view as we were situated over looking to road at the front of the hotel.
Bar/ terrace being able to relax and look out to sea

We had such an enjoyable stay here. We checked in late due to our flight times and it was no hassle to reception at all clear instructions and a key was left for us at reception. We had dinner on our last evening and it was incredible!! I had the ‘mini roast’ and it was HUGE!! Best roast dinner I have ever had. My partner had the pie and it was gorgeous. Always room for dessert and all was so delicious. We can’t thank the lovely staff at Dormy house hotel for making our stay so memorable for us and we will definitely be recommending to our friends and family visiting.
Staff were lovely, room was comfortable and they got me a bar of soap when I asked as there was no hand soap.
but disappointed they had no soap or shower gel and toilet was marked. Breakfast was a hamper in the bedroom, I feel this should have been specified in the description as, we probably wouldn’t have stayed if we’d known we couldn’t go downstairs for a breakfast.
Fabulous sea views from the room with the balcony, an evening sat outside watching the sun go down. It was fabulous.
We booked the sea view room with balcony. Wow, what a view!! The room was lovely, fresh clean crisp bedding, very comfy mattress. We had a delicious complimentary breakfast hamper too, (porridge pots, croissants, yoghurt, muesli, juices, honey, water). Super clean bathroom with walk in shower. We opted for the earliest check in to make the most of our balcony. There was a handy small fridge in the room, enough space for our wine and beer (milk already in there supplied by the hotel for teas/coffee and muesli). The staff were every welcoming, polite and friendly. We had a peaceful nights sleep and (reluctantly) checked out the next morning. Definitely recommend the room we had, we were sad to leave. We'll be returning. We can't comment on the hotels food as we didn't eat there, but it looked and smelled delicious.
Very warm welcome on arrival and all the staff were great. Loads of parking and the food was excellent with a well stocked bar. Perfect.
The location was great, staff were friendly, polite and professional, room was clean, food was lovely.
We enjoyed our stay. The bed was very comfortable. Also the evening meal we had was amazing.
We were surprised that the family room was on the top floor it appeared in roof extention. My Husband is tall and found it difficult at times. He could not stand in the shower and also at some places in bedroom. I don't think the shower was very good. It was shower in bath with no shower screen. The water did not stay the same and went from hot to cold all the times. It often went extremely hot. In our booking we had free breakfast, I will admit we were disappointed with the breakfast not what we were expecting. We both felt that it is more an excellent restaurant than a hotel as we had a meal which was amazing. I would highly recommend it as a restaurant. It is fine to stay for short visit however we wouldn't come for longer stay as room was not great.
