Food was amazing Staff helpful and obliging. Room a bit small and dated but surroundings beautiful. Didn’t detract from our stay.
What a gem of a country house. The welcome, room and dining options were amazing to say the least. Highly recommended!
Wonderful experience. Thank you!
A perfect stay in terms of location, hotel facilities and customer care.
Beautiful renovated hotel in the Highlands, with lovely dining and breakfast. We enjoyed the stay. There are walking paths around the hotel and hiking trails all over the local area.
The most wonderful stay of our 3 week visit to England, Scotland and Ireland! The owners (they work there everyday) are delightful people, warm and gracious! They have been on a 20 year mission to lovingly upgrade the Grand Dame of Scotland and are succeeding! The Coul House is THE best value for what you get in return. The gardens are lovely, the Fairy Trails delightful, the food, drinks and service spectacular! Our room was well appointed, clean and thoughtfully decorated The Highlands of Scotland are not to be missed! Inverness is a wonderful town just 20 minutes away. We love the Coul House and look forward to our return! Bravo!
This is a great hotel run on traditional values. Nothing is too much trouble. Dinner and breakfast were top quality.
A lovely building with excellent rooms, beautiful grounds and excellent surroundings. The food was lovely and staff are exceptional.
Excellent faultless service and amazing food. Nothing too much trouble. Reasonable price for top class hotel. Beautiful grounds to walk in and not far from the east coast, Black Isle and Beauly where we wanted to visit. Definitely will return.
Excellent stay in this lovely hotel. Very high standards throughout but also friendly and welcoming staff.
We had a fabulous time. The hotel is utterly charming, a beautifully restored Victorian Country House. The owners and staff were outstanding in their friendliness and service. The food was just amazing!
The owners were super friendly and helpful, the building and grounds were amazing, and the location was perfect. 10/10 would stay here again.
This hotel is just perfect if you want a quality, understated, comfortable and quite break. Lovely grounds, staff get the balance of being friendly but not intrusive just right. Dogs are made welcome everywhere except the main dining room. Service top notch (nice to go somewhere these days where there are enough staff). Rooms are comfortable and crisp white sheets and the most comfortable beds made me feel like I was floating on a cloud! We had dinner in the dining room each night and the food was delicious. Strathpeffer is a lovely walk away or a few minutes by car and is well worth exploring. Dingwall is the nearest place with more high street names, Tesco, Lidl etc as well as some lovely independent shops on the high street. Loved my stay and will return anytime I visit the highlands.
Absolutely a beautiful property!! A must while in Inverness!!
Beautiful property with outdoor activities, bar and restaurant. Staff bent over backwards to help us set up recreational activities outside of the property.
A most relaxing and friendly hotel
The evening rabbits in the back lawn, together with the majestic trees on the property are alone with the grade!
The grounds were beautiful! The staff was very accommodating and nice. I had an ice pack I needed frozen for Medication and they did this no questions asked. They were all very kind and were always smiling! We will definitely be back!
Coul House is an exceptional choice for a relaxing stay, with the accessibility to Highlands! We were able to visit the Isle of Skye and several other great attractions. The breakfast has delicious choices and dinner is an excellent fine-dining option. The gardens are very well maintained and add to the beauty of the villa.
Great stay
Everything was very nice. Dining room is beautiful.
Pretty property with very nice staff. The food was excellent.
This is a beautiful property for relaxing and enjoying the area. The breakfast was awesome and dinner options were great as well. I look forward to coming back.
This is an exceptional place made more so by the staff. Managing to be attentive without overbearing. They manage to make you feel at home allowing you to truly relax. The food is wonderful and there's lots to do around. My only regret is not being able to stay longer.
This is a very special property. The staff provided phenomenal service from beginning to end. All the staff are so helpful and kind. The property itself is kept in pristine condition with beautiful gardens and surroundings. If you need to stay anywhere near Inverness do not hesitate to book here even if it may be a little further away. The food is both tasty and fun. Breakfast is luxurious! You will have a truly amazing stay.

Excellent all around
Fantastic hotel.
Easy to find, Plenty of parking Great stay, clean fresh room Friendly staff very welcoming atmosphere Excellent food, fresh and tasty local produce lovely birthday celebration Highly recommend a visit to eat or to stay you wont be disappointed!!
We really enjoyed our visit, and the breakfast was by far the best we had in Scotland. The service was also 5 star excellent. We are already planning another trip to Scotland, and we will definitely stay here again.
Beautiful property and rooms. Friendly, helpful staff. Dinner and breakfast were delicious. Nice quiet bar area for before and after drinks. Highly recommend.
Excellent… lovely food and drinks
Tranquil, friendly, relaxed, excellent service and delicious food
Check-in was a breeze. As soon as you walk into the foyer the large open fireplace set the tone for our stay. Warm and inviting. Rooms are upstairs with no lift but help with the bags is available. Room was a bit small but well equipped with amazing shower (no bath). Flush handle on the toilet was loose but worked fine. No need to leave the hotel for food as the restaurant is first class and breakfast as good as I have had anywhere. Service was first class with staff very helpful and knowledgeable. They have a lounge where you can sit before dinner and after for a scotch or a coffee. Their stock of scotch is excellent and the owner seems to have tried them all. Would recommend this hotel for anyone wishing to stay and explore the highlands.
Wonderful spot to stay from which to explore the highlands. Very kind and attentive staff. Beautiful old house with timeless elegance and comfort. Great breakfasts.
Beautiful hotel and grounds. The staff is very friendly.
This is an excellent property with an immaculate renovation of rooms for a structure built in the 1800's. All modern conveniences are present, yet the aura of the historic building is preserved. The food is incredible,on par with Michelin restaurants where we dined in the past. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient. The garden and surrounding vistas are enchanting. I would definitely rate this hotel the highest rating.
This hotel is a quite hotel in the country. We absolutely loved the location. There is a Restraunt downstairs that typically can accommodate guest as well as a bar and large dog friendly yard. We loved all the dogs roaming around. The hotel is a historic style hotel and we would love to return in the winter to see the fireplace going! The owner waited on us a few times and we very kind and courteous. The price is reasonable as well. Overall great experience.
We were celebrating our 35th Wedding Anniversary. Stayed for 1 night. Throughly enjoyed. Food was lovely and staff were so friendly and helpful. Beautiful room.
In addition to excellent accommodations and a very good restaurant, the grounds of CoulHouse are exceptional and we enjoyed walks in the lawn and among the trees.
Lovely stay at such a grand building with lovely gardens. Staff were very helpful and attentive. Comfortable room and very clean everywhere in the hotel. Restaurant has a very good choice of food and the service was excellent. Breakfast was very good too with a good choice of cold or hot food.
A lovely hotel, run by fantastic people and a charming staff in an idyllic location in the Scottish Highlands. Highly recommended!!
First class
Lovely location. The walk up the back road from the property was beautiful. Rooms well appointed. Staff friendly and helpful.
This place is magical. Staff is out of this world. Food fantastic. Rooms clean. Beds comfortable. Would come back in a heartbeat.
This was simply....elegant. We were touring Scotland for our 40th anniversary and I specifically chose places with lovely views out the windows. This? Was mike-drop perfection. From the warm greeting, to the lovely meals, to the architecture...gardens...all spectacular. It is one of the things on this trip I will cherish forever. This? Is a DO NOT MISS. Care and attention oozes from every corner. We travel widely and it takes a great deal for me to give such a glowing review. Coul House deserves a standing ovation in the world of hospitality...every detail considered, a well trained staff...just...wow.
Excellent all around. All details thought out and extremely comfortable and welcoming. Very relaxing and beautiful space. Highly recommend. Best of our trip!
As we drove in the sign said deliciously relaxing and that couldn’t have been any truer. The staff and surroundings are warm, friendly and welcoming. Food was beautiful and a walk in the grounds on a clear night is breathtaking. Absolutely recommend a stay here. Nothing was to much trouble and breakfast was fabulous too. Thank you for taking care of us.
Lovely country setting. Customer service was first class. Everyone was polite, friendly and attentive. Fabulous selection of drinks available. Clean, comfortable rooms with everything required for a short stay. We climbed Ben Wyvis next day so staying here was so convenient as the car park was just a 10 minute drive away.
This has to be one of the best hotel experiences we've ever had. From the first moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome and they even upgraded us to a lovely room overlooking the extensive gardens. Both the evening meal and breakfast were wonderful, made more so by the friendly and accommodating nature of all the staff. Have been recommending to friends and family since getting back!
Fantastic stay. Great location, great hotel, great food, great service Highly recommended
Fabulous place. Dining was excellent. Staff attentive to your needs. Grounds are beautiful. Excellent place to stay. I highly recommend the house as a place to stay. Only regret we didn’t stay longer!
We stayed here for one night & the hotel was great, our room was great & the food excellent. But on arrival the lady on reception was cold & verging on rude on our arrival & checkout. All the other staff we encountered were excellent, very professional & very friendly, I have no idea out of all those lovely staff you would put somebody so unfriendly on reception, as we know first impressions count. Our room was very nice with views over the gardens, the bar & restaurant lovely, the food we had was excellent too & we would definitely go back again & hope we don’t encounter the same lady on reception. Again thank you to the other staff there for excellent professional service
We found this to be a beautiful property and njoyed it immensely.
We stayed in a double room with view. A lovely large room with a gorgeous view of the front lawn. The bedroom and en suite bathroom were gorgeous with both rooms having chandeliers. The shower was great re water pressure (like a massage) and lots of other luxurious aspects in bathroom. We had dinner at the hotel and the food was divine - a great menu and each choice did not disappoint. We made good use of the lounge bar and staff were very chatty and helpful. Although everything was very professional and polished re service, there was also a friendly and helpful style (which at times was very relaxed) which created a lovely atmosphere. Most definitely a hotel with a big heart. We will be back!
The staff was excellent. He was very helpful. Thank you!
Friendly staff and quiet environments.
We particularly liked the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. It felt as if they really cared about their guests. The food was excellent, couldn’t be faulted. I enjoyed reading the year by year account of the journey of the hotel, you forget this doesn’t just happen, particularly in recent years. A thoroughly enjoyable break, just wish it could have been longer.
Great staff, very helpful and friendly.
Excellent hotel, with lovely service. Would recommend
What an incredible place to stay! Impeccable hospitality, wonderful food, beautiful grounds, comfortable room, personalized history... I feel lucky to have stayed here and would come back in a heartbeat. Definitely gets my highest recommendation!!
wonderful room
Congratulations, a wonderfully warm and relaxed welcome and fanastic staff team makes this place special.
Great stay delicious food.
This hotel is a real gem. All the staff were extremely efficient and friendly and the hotel is obviously managed really well by the owners. We will definitely return .
Lovely old building in good condition considering age and clear hard work for upkeep. Staff clearly working hard with few staff thanks to COVID and brexit. Very friendly staff going the extra mile. Rooms very comfortable food onsite excellent with healthy portions
Amazing hotel in a beautiful location. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and we felt welcome as soon as we entered the hotel. Very much look forward to visiting again.
We have just spent two nights at the Coul House hotel with our friends and what a wonderful time we all had ! !The staff were so friendly and could not do enough for us ! Chris in particular was extremely helpful and professional . He gave us information. On walks and cycling in the area and was so pleasant serving drinks etc. The rooms were lovely and the food was fantastic with a good choice of dishes all beautifully presented !Breakfast was also most enjoyable with a really good choice . We enjoyed sitting on the lovely terrace overlooking the beautiful gardens at the back of the hotel . The weather was amazing and nothing was too much trouble for the staff . We can’t wait to go back!
We stayed a few nights in room 24, a superior double rooms with preferred view overlooking the back garden. Stuart and Susannah are running a fantastic establishment in a wonderful building and grounds (and fairy walk) filled with naturally friendly, capable and thoughtful staff. They met us upon our arrival and made us feel very welcome and looked after us during our entire stay. Their website does not overstate the claims, with excellent food and a wide range of drinks on offer. I proposed to my partner during the stay, we had a long day planned with an early start. They liaised with us and carefully prepared a tasty packed lunch and hot food upon our late arrival, along with celebratory drinks despite the kitchen being closed. Coul House really helped us mark this special occasion and we also thank Lara and Chris for their extra efforts in making it so. My only critique would be that some of the furnishings are a little dated and the rooms are on the smaller side. However the owners should be rightfully proud of the hotel and we look forward to returning.
Nice hotel good relaxing location and excellent food, only thing is it could do with a bit of of a make over,if I was in that area would stay again
Very warm welcome from all staff ,excellent food and selection of drinks. Cosy, meticulously clean.
We were made welcome from the moment we arrived. most impressed by the kind attention of the staff and the proud owners - Stuart & Susannah Macpherson - who lead the friendly team and were happy to help with our luggage - not may owners have done that in our experience - superb hosts. Great food and facilities - 5 star experience
This is a traditonal style of hotel with an 'up-market' clientele maybe with rather traditional values (eg some men wearing ties for dinner). They welcome dogs, which enhanced our stay, but might not be for everyone. Our bedroom was furnished in a slightly old-fashioned style, but was comfortable, with a nice view of the lovely grounds. The food was certainly good, but perhaps not quite as outstanding as they think it is eg the 'fusion' elements in the dishes we tried did not work well. There is a serious wine list. Excellent service at all times.
Arrived at the hotel quite late after a long days drive. Stuart was very friendly and accommodating on arrival. We were shown to a small double room- which was very small, thankfully we aren’t the biggest but was more a three quarter bed. However, it was very very comfortable and the sheets and pillows felt very luxurious. We stayed in room 3. The shower was amazing, a proper waterfall shower however could do with some branded nice toiletries. There was a kettle and selection of tea and biscuits. The room felt fresh and beautifully decorated in a traditional Victorian style. I don’t think I’ve been to a cleaner hotel, everything was sparkling which is very important for me. The breakfast was also exceptional, the garden around the house is beautiful and there are some lovely walks on site around the house. Only few picks is that there could have been some more traditional Scottish tea or biscuits in the room to add to the traditional style the hotel seems to do so well. And also the bed was rather squeaky so woke me up a few times when turning over.
Lovely hotel, beautiful grounds and great service. Doing the Covid distancing very well
Quite friendly and so comfortable a lovely spot food and service fantastic
Excellent bathroom & toiletries in large dispensers (usually have to fiddle to get shower gel/shampoo out of tiny containers Only criticism - lack of brown sugar for coffee (which was excellent!!)
Lovely historic property proudly operated by a couple who have done a beautiful job with restoration and maintenance. Attentive staff. Great food. Very restful but also with easy access to major roads and area sights.
Very nice hotel and recently rooms renovated to high standard
Fantastic upgrade to a junior suite. Wonderful dinner and breakfast. Lovely lobby and grounds. Would definitely return!
Fab night here as the first part of our North Coast 500 tour with Louis the Labrador. Helpful and fun staff. The breakfast was the best - eaten in the lounge overlooking the garden.
Beautiful, comfortable, loving Hotel with wonderful staff. Set on beautiful grounds and amazing fairy forest. A definite come back to hotel
Dinner service was outstanding. The food excellent. A great place to stay. Highly recommended.
Wonderful service , beautiful property thanks I sussane and Stuart for a lovely stay
Nice hotel, comfy, great bathroom. Staff superb. Breakfast was great.
Coul House is a gem of a hotel - a real country house experience. The hotel itself is beautiful and is set in lovingly tended grounds, which lead to various tracks and estate roads which are perfect for walking. The food is exceptional and we had the best steak and lamb that we have tasted for a very long time! The chef is talented and presents food that is seasonal, full of flavour, very well presented but not pretentious in any way. Everything we ate was wonderful...and the breakfast continued that theme with a great range of choices and local produce. We were able to take our dog into our room, and all public rooms except the dining room, which was a great bonus. Staff were without exception very professional and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. I thoroughly recommend Coul House and we really wished we could have stayed longer. ( VERY long walks would have been required to walk off all the lovely food though!)
