Location
No hot water, dated rooms, large spider sharing room with us. Toilet cystern took ages to fill up also was very noisy, reception was often left unattended.
Good cooked breakfast
Bar was limited could have stayed open longer
Great food and friendly staff
Like everywhere in the highlands the rooms are tired with sinks from the late 70s TV could be bigger and shower stronger
The location was perfect. The gardens were beautifully kept and the outside of the building was spectacular.
The internal decor was old, dated and run down. The room itself was like walking into an old university dorm. The lift had carpeted walls inside and smelled very stale in there like old smoke.
Clean . Quiet. Friendly staff Hadnt realised they dig friendly or may have taken my dog Great old fashioned highland hotel. Loved it
We had expected a bar menu Set menu was delicious but portions set for the bus tour appetitie not for us after a days hiking!
Friendly very helpful staff
The hotel ,yes it's a little tired in areas but it doesn't take away from the beauty of it ,to fully modernise it would be (in my opinion) a loss.if you want sterile square rooms bars on windows and gloomy floors ... this isn't for you .if you want beautiful grounds to walk around fabulous warm staff ,decent filling food and a comfy quiet bedroom, look no further I knew of this hotel for many a year but never stopped strathpeffer before but will visit again .

Check in de nuit. Bâtiment magnifique !
Good Breakfasts and Evening meals, staff were very polite and helpful. Clean and tidy
tiny wee bedroom , bed wasn't very comfy, shower room could do with an upgrade
Location , helpful staff, food generally
Dreadful views from inner room windows One poor meal
Nice traditional grand hotel. Large and comfortable room.
Staff could crack a smile from time to time. But could have been a bad day.
Ambience, size of rooms
Reception
Impressive building
Location and grounds were great.
Struttura pulita, elegante, rilassante e con personale veramente molto gentile e disponibile e sorridente.
Nulla.
Staff are welcoming, friendly, and helpful, and make your stay a really enjoyable experience. Good food and relaxing environment.
Hotel antico bellissima ,in pieno stile scozzese! Parco meraviglioso! Paesino incantevole ! Tornerei domani
no
the room is too old and not clean, one of table lamp was not working.
room and breakfast was good
dinner was poor
Location
Staff were friendly on arrival and the location was ideal for a stop off whilst heading north.
The room was in a terrible condition, it was literally falling apart. The bed was only and had it not been propped against the wall it would have collapsed. There was a bath tub with a loose shower head but no shower curtain and the slope of the roof meant I had to squat in the bathtub to shower. Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at, hostels in third world countries are typically in a better condition!
Lovely setting
Bathroom is dated and silicone is mouldy. The meal at night was tasty but lacked a decent portion plus no option for chips.
Basic, Clean and comfortable, fine for a practical quick night stop. Great location, but tired and dated 3*.
Tired and dated. Breakfast included in our price but very average. Continental options would have been nice, or maybe just some fresh fruit and maybe a coffee machine for more hot drink variety?
Posizione ottima e struttura esteriormente molto bella
Ferma a 30 anni fa, in decadenza, colazione qualitativamente bassa
The staff were all excellent
Longer hours for dining would be better
A grand old hotel, with lots of charming features. The bed was comfy and the room, clean and tidy. The staff were lovely and very helpful. Set in beautiful grounds with plenty of places around within walking distance, to explore.
There was a mix up with the booking. We'd paid for breakfast through booking.com but it hadn't registered on the hotel's system, so we ended up paying twice. Unfortunately I couldn't find the email confirming the prepayment whilst I was in the hotel, I only found it when I got home. The restaurant was very busy, there were 3 separate coach loads in, but the staff warned us of this and we were offered an early sitting, which worked out fine.
Value for money
N/A
The dinner was great value. It was like a sunday dinner back in the day, but tasted good and was very very good value for money. Staff were really nice. very friendly. Its been a grand place in its day. In some areas threadbare carpets and needed a paint but for what you pay it is excellent value. clean and lovely staff
nothing
Beautiful views, lovely staff and the breakfast was excellent. Bed was very comfortable and the room was clean, large and well lit.
Felt a little bit dated and a bit on the pricey side for what you get. But it is summer to it is to be expected.
Grote kamer, goed bed
Stunning property and grounds. Great staff, smiling, attentive and personable. Room was clean and had everything we needed. Food was excellent.
The outside of the building
That there is no consideration for people sleeping in rooms of the first floor. We were only there for one night and we were awake from 3am due to people coming back from being out and talking loud and then staff getting up for the kitchen duty in the morning. If you are offered a ground floor room, I would refuse it if you want to sleep all night. Staff were super friendly and accommodating - especially the bar staff.
The staff
Restaurant timings
Everything was good. Quality of food excellent.breakfast and dinner. Barman/waiter pleasant and chatty
The weather hahaha 🤣
Breakfast was great. Dining room staff lovely.
The room was a little dark and pokey (because the en suite conversation made it cramped. It was fine for my stay, but if I was to have spent more time in the room I would have found it a little claustrophobic.
The location of my room was perfect. The breakfast was good.
The standard of catering for the evening meal was disappointing. But that was the only thing that could have been better. It wasn’t good value for money at all, alas.
Very friendly staff, super location. The hotel is a typical old-fashioned spa town hotel. Although the decor is a little tired in places, this is understandable for a building that's around 150 years old. The hotel is comfortable, the food was very good and the staff were friendly and attentive. We stopped just for one night as were were en-route further west, but would definitely come back sometime and stay longer to explore the local area.
Nothing to dislike
lovely old victorian large hotel , public areas very pleasant. Comfy bed, hot water, and fresh carpets, curtains and linen in bedroom.
Away from public areas tired paintwork and worn /threadbare carpets in corridors.. but with such a big hotel understandable this would be a major expense in somewhere obviously catering for budget coach parties. Sadly.. atrocious breakfast spoiled the stay. Tepid congealed lukewarm 'hot' buffet, cold rubbery toast, and the continental being just tinned fruits and budget cereals, very disappointing for the price.
L edificio in sé. Bella struttura immersa in un parco.
Il cappuccino a pagamento nella colazione compresa.
Friendly staff. Stew was amazing with plenty of beef and great vegetables. Lovely village with a beautiful pavilion
Most outstandingly the staff were brilliant and seemed happy and smiling. Requests were met with an immediate smile and willingness to help. A good Scottish buffet breakfast and i found the evening dinner to be ok.
Only one type of zero beer. One can always find fault but for a 3 star hotel built in 1877 it had character and a little wear. Want modern, go to a new 5 Star. The walls and floors are not as sound proof as i would have liked but it is not a noisy hotel.
hotel in a small village on the hills, with decent food, clean rooms and a large commons area.
The staff were lovely especially the receptionist (from Birmingham). We had a small room but the layout was good and bed very comfortable. The traditional Scottish breakfast was excellent.
Possibly a greater selection of continental breakfast and selection of breads would improve breakfast.
The property is an old building with character. Set back from the road, with a lovely view from some of the bedrooms.
The 1st room we were given was very small & looked out on to a dingy area at the bd know the building.
Emplacement
Great welcome, comfortable stay just ideal when working from home.
Nothing.
Le lit Le bâtiment Le petit déjeuner
The room was clean and comfortable, the bathroom as well. Breakfast was very good. You got a great choice of cereal and cooked foods. Dinner was delicious.
Nothing really although I have had a knee operation and was disappointed there wasn’t a disabled toilet in any room.
Nice old style hotel
A bit dated.
Beautiful location, wonderful property and grounds, incredibly pleasant and helpful staff. Great breakfast
Nothing
A nice quiet location with friendly staff
The old building is a bit tired looking and would need major maintenance/ refurbishment
Comfortable bed for an overnight stop on the way to Ullapool
Very dated and in need of a major refurb
Friendly staff and excellent breakfast.
Giardino accogliente
Bagno senza finestra. Doccia antiquata e non funzionante. Colazione limitata fino a 9am.
Nice gardens. Plenty parking, spacious room, good value restaurant
Room was a bit hot, radiator wouldn’t turn off
The staff were great and very helpful
The top floor room was terrible, zero (and I mean zero) water pressure - see the picture - this was on full!!! One of the “clean towels” appeared to have stool on it! The wallpaper was peeling The parking if aweful! Overall it just wasn’t nice!
Location
It was very old carpets and so was some off the furniture. Shabby and in need of replacement .
Nice old hotel in a lovely location
Room was tiny and could do with a revamp. There was limited choice on the dinner menu although the food was nice
Everything and everyone 🥰
The location and the garden grounds of the hotel are really beautiful.
Mostly it was excellent but we had to change rooms after the first night because the first the room was too small for two adults and a dog.
Great staff. Handy location.
Tired interior, has slight horror film vibes.
All the staff I encountered were very friendly and helpful. I had booked a single room and it was very spacious compared to others I have stayed in. The evening meal (set menu, pay extra) was very good value for money and drinks from the bar were reasonably priced. The hotel is a little dated in places but is very clean and the grounds are lovely and well maintained. Breakfast was plentiful and varied - always good to have some haggis and black pudding at breakfast!
Nothing really.

Nothing at all to find fault with actually went to see a old friend when I booked but later he said he left to go to Spain as a recp manager. But as for hotel nothing really for me to complain about nice peacefully one night stay
Breakfast was good for the money. Hot and plentiful.
It was pleasant enough for the hotel price.
The food is dull and tasteless. Eat somewhere else.
Danke. Auch für Feste ein passendes Schloss ! Wir fanden unsere Ecksuite riesig.
Es könnte ein bisschen renoviert werden.
Friendly, helpful staff. Clean and comfortable room, tasty food, excellent provision for gluten free diners. Good location, close proximity to cafes, shops and woodland trails. Great value for money.
Wished I could have stayed for longer!
Pleasant, helpful and attentive staff. Grand interiors, especially the dining room - more could be made of these features. Traditional decor. Nice gardens.
Some areas of the hotel are worn and dated.
Food was very disappointing.
I like the warm welcome when i stay. I use the hotel alot
The sound proofing isn't great but I always have earplugs as I am a light sleeper and thats not the hotels fault
