nothing
Everything was bad, the staff was incredibly rude and unhelpful
Nice clean room. Easy parking.
Staff could have been more attentive.
comfortable, convenient location
liked everything
The convenience to UNC. It's pet friendly, so if visiting in the future, good to know.
It smelled like cigarettes, very stale. The pool was very small. The cushions were dirty at the pool. The staff on Wednesday 7/8 was quite rude and appeared to have their child assisting at the front desk. When asked about a difference in the charge I received on that day vs the booking charge and getting an itemized bill she said "you will get that upon check out", with no desire to explain that it was a temporary hold. The lady the next morning was very polite explained everything and apologized. It appeared the bar was closed, not saying I would have utilized it, but if we decided to stay there in the future, if our daughter chooses to go to school here, it might be nice to be able to have a drink after a long day. The showers are also very small, and for 2 people, especially ladies there should always be 4 towels included. We made due and didn't want to deal with requesting more for a one night stay, but if it had been longer, it may have been a different story. They also had lots of candy, etc, appeared to be free to my 17 year old, I told her it probably wasn't. It didn't have any type of pricing, marking "for purchase", how would you know? If these items are for sale they need to be labeled as such or obviously they will be there for the taking. Just from an observant eye and a very nieve teenager.
Great location and room size
The AC was loud and kept waking us up because it kept turning on and off on its own.
This was my first time booking/checking in/checking out for a hotel all on my own, and the staff made it SO easy for me. Super kind, very helpful, everyone was so wonderful, thank you! Bed cozy as hell 10/10
The wifi was REALLY bad, probably could have asked for help with it, but it wasn't worth it since I was only there one night. Sink was weird, if you only turned it on slightly it went on the counter but not too bad. Blinds worked but they got a bit wonky when used, still closed though so no biggie.
The staff was super friendly and attentive!!!
The gym needs attention and more equipment.
A very attractive and functional room.
I would appreciate decaf coffee in the lobby as well as gluten free breakfast options. Note that unless oats are certified gluten free, they can’t be consumed by those needing a gluten free diet.
It’s clean nice staff but room bright lot street noise
Clean
It has been 12 days since our terrible stay at this hotel. We have emailed the hotel general manager and the Aloft regional vice president with these issues and neither has closed the case to our satisfaction. The most recent correspondence was on May 15 when the regional manager for Schulte Hospitality Group said she’d review the issues. Throughout our 3-night stay, we experienced repeated room access failures involving both mobile and physical room keys over multiple consecutive days. Even the master key from the front desk wouldn’t work. These issues occurred at especially difficult times, including during a medical emergency that required an ER visit, leaving us unable to access our room, belongings, coats, or personal items late at night while dressed for formal graduation events. Most concerning was that after we were assured the matter had been resolved by engineering, the failures continued repeatedly. We were told Marriott was upgrading the system. I would like to think that Marriott is too smart a company to plan an upgrade on a nationwide graduation weekend that also happens to be Mother’s Day when most all hotels are filled to capacity. Additionally, despite personally notifying housekeeping that our room was vacant and ready for service, returning late in the evening with graduating family members to find the room completely unserviced further compounded the frustration and embarrassment. Such a shame that Marriott is not taking this matter seriously.
the room was very clean and comfortable. there should be more wastebaskets with liners. all else was great - quiet, soothing.
very little. They could add a real breakfast without much trouble, not just the sort-of-continental breadfast they offer. the coffee was good.
Loved how clean and organized everything was
The bar was never open. Herd from others that they haven't seen anyone at the bar in weeks. The pool had an odd smell. Not to mention the lobby smelled like someone used 12 cans of cleaning spray that would run you out the building
I was honestly a little hesitant to book Aloft Chapel Hill after reading some of the recent reviews around cleanliness. As a Bonvoy elite member, I’ve been working through the current promotion to stay across different brands, so I decided to give it a shot. Going in, I had a pretty clear expectation of the Aloft experience, some past stays have been great, others not so much. For a one-night stay, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised…though that may also be because I was expecting the worst. The hotel is definitely showing its age. The lobby furniture and carpeting are noticeably worn, with visible stains, and the XYZ market was both understocked and not particularly clean. I checked in around 5pm and the bar was already closed, which was a bit disappointing. That said, the room itself was clean where it mattered most. While the walls could use a proper repaint (the touch-ups give it a bit of a patchy look), the bathroom, linens, and towels were all clean. The bed was comfortable, I slept well, and all of the in-room technology worked without issue. In the morning, breakfast options were very limited, but the complimentary coffee was appreciated. The staff was generally friendly throughout the stay. Overall, this was a decent one-night stay, especially given my expectations. Would I go out of my way to return? Probably not, unless they do a full renovation and I’ll likely stick with my usual spots in the area, but for the purpose of trying a different brand for double elite credits, it got the job done.
Loved our stay at Aloft. Staff was great, super clean, great location. Loved the breakfast set up and the ability to walk to lots of places
There was a bar in the lobby and the bartender made an amazing martini. Very personable guy.
The room was neat, clean, location was good, not too far from School of Government,
The room was a little small but cozy. The bed was average, not the most comfortable but comparable with other hotel rooms. There was nowhere to put my soap while taking a shower, I have sensitive skin, so I don't take chances, I bring my dove soap, I put a towel on the rail and put it on the towel. The TV was small, but it played well so you can't have it all. Would like to have a hanger for pants, I folded them over and hung them up.
nothing
Air conditioner was so loud you could not sleep. No lids that fit the coffee cups, simple fix but no one carried. Very poor customer service. It you don't fix something as small as a coffee cup lid how can we trust you to care about anything else.
Very convenient location
Too much road noise! Cars racing at 0200
In a town full of hotels, all I can say is don't do it.
Bed was great.
Need more bed side table space, there was a device that took up the whole table space. It could not be moved. It would be nice if you offer a discount for medical appointments.
Clean Quiet Close to my conference
The staff was great! Front desk did a great job and catered to our every need.
Very nice and new hotel convenient to campus!
Overall solid hotel. Really nice front desk. Parking was full, had to park at a bank across the street. Read about this issue in other reviews. Got an Uber to Dean Smith arena for the UNC game. Lots of fan staying at hotel. The hotels on the campus were booked, so this must be the second option for game days. Bar and pool table in lobby was cool. We're in and out so fast, don't have a ton to say, but overall everything was good.
Fridge and toilet didn’t wor
I liked everything
Hotel close to the Dean Dome for the Tarheels basetball game, was able to catch a good workout at the Planet Fitness near by, Staff were very professional, if you choose not to eat breakfast at the hotel there is a lovely breakfast spot close by within walking distance.
One night stay while in Chapel Hill for a class. Convenient location to UNC campus. Room was clean and very comfortable bed and bedding. Had an amazing nights sleep. The best water pressure I've ever experienced. Easy check in process.
Parking
It was kinda confusing to find. But once there it was beautiful there was a pizza place within walking distance which was great for my three teenagers and myself.
The bathroom layout for personal stuff. The shelves behind you when washing your hands.
Once the bathroom was in use there is no mirror to do makeup or hair.😕 once you put your luggage down on the couch as there isn't any where else to have access to it, there is no where to sit and put on shoes or anything else.
Best price for quality in the area
The loud AC units
Very close to campus. Friendly staff.
Not enough parking. Had to street park my brand new car because garage was full.
I apparently didn't look at what was included in the room, furniture wise. I unfortunately had gout in my heel and a torn bicep and rotator cuff. And there was no additional sitting that was comfortable. I will say that the service was very good, when we returned from eating out a nice lady brought a wheelchair out and met us because of my walking issue.
No comfortable sitting
Very clean, modern, great location. Front desk team excellent.
Close to our destination
No hot water in the morning, confusing breakfast options some free some not. Parking is a hassle. Very heavy traffic area.
Clean rooms with good showers. Kind and considerate staff. We were there for medical care at Chapel hill hospital. We have stayed several times.
Cleanliness and decor
Location. Cars were noisy
I loved everything the staff was amazing the room was amazing they allowed us to use their wheelchair even when we went to eat that ment alot my mom was having trouble with her knees and hip but they made sure she was able to enjoy herself in more ways than one.my grandma also enjoyed herself she was getting 2 stints put in 100/100 I would recommend beautiful facility beautiful people beautiful smiles 😃
I always love the bar area but it closed at 9 on a Friday night.
My room next to the road
We did not get breakfast
Location
$75 pet fee
Great staff and very well done property!!
Clean. Friendly helpful staff. Comfortable. Great location. Fast check in. Quiet room.
Nice hotel, room was quiet, bed was comfortable, easy to go to my conference at UNC. Convenient to walk to Fresh Market and Walgreens. Will definitely stay there again!
Difficult experience! Had to use the garage for parking which was limited to 2 spots. The arm letting you into the garage came down on my 2025 Buick Enclave causing a dent on the roof of the car. It was reported, but no manager was on site for the weekend and although they had my information no one contacted me and it has been a week since my stay. No towels replaced or trash emptied for the 2 days we spent there. I have a grandchild in medical school here , so when I return this will not be the Marriott We stay at!!!
THE BED WAS CONFORTABLE
I HAD TWO RESERVATIONS - ONE THRU BOOKING.COM AND ONE THROUGH MY MEMBERSHIP WITH MARRIOTT BONVOY. ITHOUGHT THAT THE HOTEL CANCELLING THE BOOKING.COM ROOM WOULD ALSO MEAN I RECEIVED A REFUND FOR THE ROOM. I ASKED IF I NEEDED TO CONTACT YOU AND THEY SAID NO - THAT YOU WOULD RECEIVE THE CANCELLATION AND REFUND THE COST. PLEASE ADVISE
good service, clean facility
I am handicapped and received, as requested, a handicapped shower. Whoever designed the shower has no clue. I had to get up off the shower stool (not easy for me) and walk several steps to access the soap and shampoo. If the bottles could be removed and moved to the stool, that would be fine. They were not removable. So walking 4 steps and back, multiple times, was a safety risk for me.
Very close to UNC hospital in Chapel Hill.
Pillows
Good restaurants near by..close to hospital
Cleam room, staff was very nice and close to the hospital and restaurants
fantastic place
Excellent stay for wedding
Stayed here due to bringing the uncle to UNC for appointments.
The breakfast setup was bizarre to say the least and not worth the expense. Otherwise, a decent place to stay.
hotel is great. Modern, clean, quiet and staff was accommodating. It's a short drive to UNC and Franklyn Street. But it's quite secluded otherwise. There's nothing within walking distance, and just some boring buildings nearby.
Huge room, great staff, they had a pool table and now we look for aloft hotels everywhere we go.
