AC Hotel by Marriott Chapel Hill Downtown

Great location! Very accommodating staff

I enjoyed the location and room size. Overall the hotel was fairly quiet which was nice after a long work day.

I think the beds could use a refresh. They are a little bit hard compared to similarly prices hotels that I have stayed in elsewhere.

Renee provided excellent, personalized and professional service.

Nothing

Very clean hotel!

N/A

Charge for parking.

Loved the little special extras-like lavender at night and shower steamer in the morning...so cute and special! The bar was amazing-after a very long day it was perfect end of the night (one of the best drinks I have had). Love staying here. My daughter is a Sophomore at UNC-so we will absolutely be back:)

Slightly noisy Friday night but not too bad (my room was over bar across the street).

Location was fantastic!

Cleanliness and staff

Everything was great

We stayed there because it was the closest hotel to UNC medical center, my son G was fighting for his life. The gentleman that checked us in the first night was amazing. He made sure we received excellent service from the moment we arrived. He even let my son L and I borrow 2 umbrellas one day for the unexpected rain. I will have to return to UNC medical center i look forward in staying at this hotel. I only wish I could remember this young Latinos name, he was marvelous.

Nothing to complain about....

Location

Front desk staff were not super engaged/engaging.

Room was very clean and comfortable, nice bathrooms and showers also. I was unsure if the waters in the fridge were complementary or not so I didn't use them. If they are, a nice little sign would be helpful.

If breakfast was included with the room fee, I would have given a 10/10 score. The breakfast rate was too high to expense when local businesses are much cheaper, but if it was included with the room then it would have been a no brainer.

Modern, clean, close to restaurants and UNC campus

Toilets weak. Ours clogged up a few times.

location to concert venue

lighting in bathroom is not sufficient, absence of any body lotion in bathroom was disappointing at a hotel of this level!

Close to the hospital. Very clean and well maintained.

No microwave in the room. Had to hunt it down.

Front desk worker was great at check in as was the bartender. Rooms were spacious, clean, and modern.

Parking spots were small, the deck was dangerous to navigate. There was no lotion provided with toiletries.

The welcome at the AC Marriott in Chapel Hill was warm and friendly. All the staff were so helpful and accommodating (thank you Miss Renee for making myself and my daughter so at home and to the night staff on check-in for ensuring I had a quiet room). The hotel is centrally located and close to the university, shops and amenities. Its rooms are of a high standard, spacious and well-equipped.

A kettle in the room would have been good! Other than that, there was nothing I didn’t like/love.

Parking and breakfast is ridiculously expensive.Coffee is unavailable after 10 am.

Beautiful, newer, modern hotel right downtown….close to shops and restaurants. Everything was walkable. Our room was quite large, very well appointed. There was a lovely walk-in shower with plenty of towels. The facilities are lovely, and the staff was great. When we checked in we were helped by Renee. Too many times desk personnel make you feel you are taking up their time. Not with Renee….she was very friendly and helpful.

There was just one negative, and that was the lobby bar. My husband wanted an after dinner drink, and ordered a brandy. He was given the smallest drink we have ever seen for $15. My husband doesn’t believe in asking prices ahead of time. Can’t recommend the lounge.

We stayed in room 350. Unfortunately a bar was right outside our window. Very noisy a lot of screaming and shouting on top of the band playing. I get it that’s what that’s all about but we were trying to get a good nights sleep because we had a big day ahead of us and it didn’t stop till 2 AM and we had to be up at 5 AM. If management doesn’t make this right we will take our next step.

We couldn’t sleep due to the noise

Clean and great location

A bit pricey

Great location;

Staff was not very helpful with a problem with my reservation via booking.com . Granted the problem was later determined to be caused by booking.com, hotel staff did not initially make an effort to remedy until I showed my frustration trying to resolve the issue for over an hour.

Great location with a friendly accomdating staff. The room was clean and the bed comfortable.

The air conditioner was very loud and woke us up a couple of times.

Breakfast is rather basic,

It was fine in every way.

Clean, comfortable room in a perfect location for visiting UNC. Walkable to campus and lots of dining and shopping in the area.

Nice staff

Great stay and great location!

Brendan who checked us in on Saturday morning was excellent as was the rest of the staff. The facility is in the perfect location. Everything was clean and perfect.

Nothing!

Very convenient to downtown. Staff was excellent!

The front desk charged me $25/night for parking without asking. She just took my card for "liabilities" and then handed me a parking pass. Only to find a $75 charge on my card upon returning from my trip. Overall nice but that felt sneaky. I would have liked the option not chosen for me.

Love this property! So convenient!

Good stay!

Phenomenal spot for taking in a weekend in Chapel-Hill.

Very upscale and modern.

Outside noise was kind of loud at times.

It was a clean and welcome change from the place we booked previously. I would return to this property.

Great location!

Feels like 2nd home

Staff, lobby and cleanliness were good. Only problem (and it was a big one) is our room was directly across from a bar that was packed with college students and played music until 2AM. I even had ear plugs and it did not drown out the noise. We asked to be moved but were told there were no available rooms. Everything else was great; however, that was so unacceptable that we will not be staying there again. We paid for a place to sleep and were not provided that. They did comp breakfast and parking which was something.

Very comfortable stay...And a thank you in particular to the people working at the Front Desk.

Chapel Hill specifically Franklin Street is disgusting due to the aggressive panhandling. The hotel is nice but it is in the middle of an unsafe area. There for 2 days and did not see one cop car.

Everything was great

Loved a lot, but I have to say the beds were the most comfortable I have ever slept in. I typically can’t sleep in hotels and here I slept throughout the night. I also love that the room was completely dark, which you really can’t find in most hotels.

Having to pay for breakfast

Nice rooms and large common area. Great service and friendly staff. Central location and close to restaurants and campus.

Staff was great, especially the bar tender. My only complaint was that the room offered no resistance to loud people in the hotel at all hours.

Perfect place for walking around Chapel Hill and UNC. Great staff who went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed as well as we got our Marriott points.

The bed was a bit uncomfortable, hard and noisy.

Great stay. No issues. Quick to respond.

Everything is wonderful. Parking is a problem for big SUV.

Room housekeeping at check-in was arranged for every other day; if check-in is day1, then daily housekeeping would start on day2 while every-other day would bring housekeeping on day3 and day5 of the 6-day stay. However, by end of day3, no housekeeping had occurred. I brought this to the attention of the person at the front desk; apparently, that person counts days differently than I do. All in all, poor communication from the front desk. Breakfast buffet appears okay but certainly not at European standards....but trying to order a la carte, though on the menu, is trying. Oatmeal on day2 was excellent, whereas on day3 it was terrible: the restaurant host was rather unconvincing in her "apology" and offered me nothing as compensation.

The breakfast situation needs improvement in terms of staff/service/presentation & guest facing "friendliness"

Nice that it was convenient

Pleasant stay, great location, very nice overall experience. Parking garage is awkward and expensive.

Great spot.

Wonderful location, very clean, very modern, easy process in/out, excellent fitness room, comfortable bed and pillows, lovely shower

Property was in a very convenient location and it was clean and new feeling. The staff was super friendly and helpful.

Everyone was accommodating and very helpful. Felinda at the front drsk is amazing. Made sure we had everything we needed and told us about places to visit. A keeper!!

Very clean, quiet, feels safe too.

Great location! Everything is within 2 miles for your restaurants, target, pharmacy, campus, and more.

The hotel is centrally located. Room are clean and comfortable. It got a little warm during the night even though we lowered the temperature of the a/c.

Breakfast not included

packing could have been lessl

Clean, modern, staff was very nice, location was perfect

Beds and pillows were a little uncomfortable, that would be my only complaint

Chris was one of the nicest, kindest, and friendliest hosts ever, and Brandon was great and super helpful too!
