The staff made up for any shortcomings in the hotel. Happy and helpful everyone of them.

A little bit tired but this is fair enough as the price per night is very reasonable considering the location

I like staying here and have done many times. It’s very good value not perfect but staff all very nice, clean and comfortable and lovely breakfast especially the veggie sausages! (Although love see yogurt too!) Excellent location Evening entertainment good,it was on everyday of my stay I had one of the newer refurbished rooms which I believe they are working their way through

Could do with replacing the beds! Could feel the springs It’s a bit tired in places and could do with deep cleaning carpets in communal areas (appreciate end of season) There are also quite a few stairs ro some rooms (no lift)

The staff are excellent. The rooms clean . A great location. Good parking . An excellent bar lounge .

Surprisingly no toiletries in bathrooms for showering with etc . Just a bar of soap for washing hands . The full English breakfast was excellent but the sausage is low grade and tasteless. But apart these two niggles I’d still highly recommend this establishment.

The sausages horrible. The food hit and miss. Dont order soft boiled eggs they always hard. Basicly the food let the hotel down .roast meat was dry and inedible. Veg soggy veg It does need an upgrade as old furniture and woodchip walls. Plug sockets some were round and very old light switches . Very old fashioned hotel

The location was good and close to the town center and the beach. The breakfast was decent and the restaurant staff were friendly. That's just about the only positives for this place.

1) The hotel wasn't well maintained. Facilities were very basic 2) Access to our rooms were a nightmare. We were allotted room numbers 55 and 58 which were right at the back of the building and was only accessible through a multitude of stairs and corridors, through a lot of fire doors. Carrying heavy bags and traversing to and fro from the room wasn't exciting at all. 3) We had no towels in one of the rooms. When brought to their attention , instead of handing us towels, they just kept blaming each other and conducted fact finding exercises among themselves for about 15 minutes and kept us standing at the reception. 4) One room was inaccessible way past the check in time as the manager had taken the key to town to get another one cut. However, in all fairness, they allowed us to check in to the other room before the usual check in time of 3pm. 5) The lady at the reception during the day time should smile a little for a change and not have a very grumpy face. The lady who was there during the evening was very kind and friendly, as opposed to the "deputy manager" who should be more courteous, and less stuck up Over all, value for money is 0 and wouldn't recommend it at all. Very overpriced for the poor condition the building is in and the facilities

Room was dusty the carpet seemed not to have been hovered for a very long time. My husband was sneezing all through. Also had blocked nose. Breakfast was also horrible for me. The baked beans tasted bad other menu was okay aside the baked beans

Room looked tired and although fairly clean, needs a freshen up. A slight musty aroma in our room Parts of wallpaper was peeling away which gave it an untidy feel

Very disappointing stay. The hotel rooms were extremely small and felt closed in, with very little fresh air. The mats were dirty, and the overall hotel had an old, outdated feel. Most concerning, the room door did not have a proper secure lock, which made me feel uncomfortable about safety. The door was also extremely heavy and difficult to open. Overall, the hotel needs significant improvements in cleanliness, ventilation, maintenance, and security.

Breakfast was nice and staff were able to sort out my breakfast booking, after initialling telling me that I did not have a table reserved for me due to tour party. I managed to have breakfast. Rooms were clean and staff were very friendly. Good location as it was not too far from the sea. It was conveniently located close to shops

Walls of the room were thin and you could hear noise around you. Hotel room was not cheap however it was during high season, the room felt more like being in a 2 star not 3 star hotel.

Room was shocking. Old worn out bed from 1985. Broken door lock / side lights not working. Dirty shower. Utterly depressing. Could not stay. Walked out

Good location, charming building, friendly staff, food was good.

We were there for two nights but our room didn't get cleaned. There was loud booming music from a live band they had playing on the second night that made it really hard to settle our kids to sleep. This is not what we expect from a hotel that is listed here as a "family favourite". Service for breakfast is slow as they don't have a buffet so you have to wait for the staff to serve you.

Staff was very freindly and helpful.

I love staying here. The staff are always very helpfull and lovely to talk too. Loved my room. Loved my view. Nothing is any trouble as being a disabled customer, they are extremely helpful. Thank you again for my lovely stay and yummy breakfast xx

Rude travellers to staff. They work there socks off, its not there fault if something is wrong.

The best thing about this property is its staff. We have never experienced a more accomodating group of staff, and it was probably the highlight of this property. They were extrmeely attentive.

The room was less than basic. The washroom was extremely small, we could not move inside the washroom. There was patches of mold in the washroom which was very unhygenic. No handwash was given, which was very uncomfortable.

For the price I paid I was expecting just a very basic hotel, which I am usually happy with when travelling for work. However, I was surprised by just how much the team at the Medehamstede obviously love their hotel, and how they seem to be striving for excellence. The room was spotlessly clean, the breakfast was fantastic and the service was exceptional. I will definitely book the Medehamstede Hotel next time I need to stay on the island.

In a few places the decor is a little old-fashioned but it seems as though they are working hard to update and refresh it.

It's very convenient to the attractions, minutes walk to the beach, chine. They have a few parking places, also we can park on street during night + 2 hours in the morning. It's sufficient for us. The traditional all English breakfast is good, half price for kids. Both my daughter and I are happy with the breakfast. The canteen are full of happy people. I guess coming to the Isle of Wight for the summer is part of their regular retirement routine.

The ventilation in the room. Though it's only 22-25 degree on the island, the room is still very warm. We had to keep the window open during the night, and were always woken up by seagulls. There is one thing I'm not happy about, my friend and I were drinking our own beer from Co-op, wanted to sit and chat in the lobby, the guy at the reception asked us to go out to the garden. It's 10:30PM in the cold night!

Good value for money.

The staff are fantastic, friendly and helpful. I arrived a week early by mistake, but it was not a problem and a nice room was found for me. The room was immaculately clean with a big window that opened. It was cool and fresh. I was very hungry in the morning as I didn't eat the night before, so I was given a Weetabix pre-breakfast. The location is perfect between the town and the cliff walk. I would definitely go back.

Staff were friendy and nice, nice bar but entertainment was poor. A great location for the town and beach.

Location but there is parking for 4 cars for 60+ rooms so beware of that.

Very old property and no parking

I absolutely love this Hotel and recommend it to everyone who is looking for a place to stay. I 100% is definitely coming back for a longer stay. The staff are amazing and very helpfull. Keep up the good work 🥰

Short walk to beach and high street. Great Location. Room are good enough for us 2 Adults & 2 kids. Breakfast were great.

The room was basic and very hot as there was only one small window in my room but the other rooms my family used had 2 windows so were cooler

La mia camera aveva un brutto odore di umidità e muffa. È stato difficile dormire bene. Essendo in un seminterrato non ho potuto dormire con le finestre un pò aperte per far circolare l'aria.

Entertainment in the evening

I loved it here, I spent one night, but I will definitely be back. Perfect location for shops, old town, high street and bus station all with in 5 minutes walk or less. Also a 2 minute walk to the beach. Loved it. Thank you for having me.

There veggie sausage needs to change to vegan ones as I had 2 of there's and they are mash potato with carrots and peas in side. Vegan ones are cheap now adays and much better then having these ones.

Floor boards kept on creaking, big noise and there were no fans.

I booked a room here and later realized that I would need to take a ferry to get to the hotel, which I hadn't known beforehand. I called the hotel to explain the issue. The manager told me to wait until the next day and promised that I would get a refund. However, when I called the next day—and for several days after—no one answered. Finally, on Monday or Tuesday, I managed to speak to a receptionist who told me they would call me back. Since then, no one has tried to contact me. I was lied to and I definitely do not recommend this hotel.

Cheap cheerful and did the job

I like it here staff are great it's always clean and comfortable absolutely nothing to complain about for the price I've stayed here 7 times so far this year alone cheers guys will be back

We have stayed at Medehamstede Hotel last year and liked the experience. This year we booked again and requested the same family room with bunk beds, which was just perfect for us - spacious, clean, quiet with wonderful high ceilings. Great, old-fashioned breakfast with gigantic tea and coffee pots served by kind and smiley staff. Good value for money as well. The hotel might not be everybody's cup of tea, it's quite quirky with interesting decor (think 80s extravaganza) but we will be back!

Easy to find, customer service was good but didn't need to complain

Could not find the off road parking, and main entrance was not close to the parking area, but more building design than owners issue. The carpark had 2 coaches in the carpark area blocking view of the parking area so parked on the side street for the night. Ensuite was a little cramped, but most ensuite are

It's getting slightly outdated. But it is really clean and for the money it's excellent. Definitely be staying again.

It's quite a hike from the railway station As bookings were quiet the hotel shut down for a week the day after my stay (this is Easter) Doors had received too much paint over the years aand were hard to open

The hotel is situated in a good location and all the staff were really nice, it was clean and the bed was comfortable but still very basic which suited me just fine for an overnight stop.

I think in its day this was probably a very nice hotel, it clearly needs updating and the rooms could do with decorating and carpets replacing. Not that it was a great deal for me but there were no basic bathroom shower gel or hair wash which is provided by other hotels, this may however may be reflected in the price which was reasonable. Breakfast unfortunately was not great, although a full English is on the menu I decided to have poached eggs which still contained a large part of the egg shell.
