The place was beautiful. Staff were extremely kind and helpful. Food was delicious. The shuttle to the station was also great. You can tell everyone there is working hard to make your experience the best possible.

We booked this ryokan to give our children an authentic Japanese experience. The onsen is beautiful, and several staff members were kind and helpful. Unfortunately, the rest of our stay was disappointing. We specifically booked and paid for a room for 2 adults and 4 children, including half board and a room advertised with 2 twin beds and 4 futon beds. However, when we arrived, only 2 futons were prepared, and our 4-year-old twins were not offered dinner or breakfast, despite being included on the reservation. I had to repeatedly ask what they were supposed to eat. We were initially offered French fries for dinner and plain rice or scrambled eggs for breakfast. Only after asking further did I learn I could purchase Japanese children’s meals for an additional ¥3,000 per child per meal. Traditional meals in private rooms were wonderful! Although the room was listed as 559 sq ft, it felt very cramped for six people, with almost no closet or storage space and nowhere to unpack luggage. There was also no space for young children to play, and we spent most of the stay trying to keep them quiet around fragile displays. Our first impression was also disappointing when a staff member visibly rolled their eyes at our family’s luggage upon arrival. While some staff were wonderful, we often felt that families with young children were tolerated rather than welcomed. This is likely an excellent ryokan for couples seeking a quiet, traditional experience. However, I would not recommend it for families with young children or stays longer than one or two nights.

スタッフの皆さんの接客が素晴らしかったです。到着から出発まで、きめ細かく親切な対応が印象的でした。 食事はまた格別で、夕食、朝食(和定食)とも地のものが大変美味しくセンス良く出されて、堪能しました。 大浴場、部屋の露天風呂も良かったです。

25周年ということで、年数がたっているので致し方ないと思いますが、同行の夫はトイレの狭さを指摘していました。が、部屋も水回りも掃除が行きどどいていて清潔、快適に過ごすことができました。

In questo ryokan abbiamo fatto un'esperienza completa, già quando si arriva alla stazione, subito dopo i tornelli si trova un telefono il quale ti permette di chiamare gratuitamente il ryokan per farti venire a prendere. All'arrivo vieni accolto benissimo, ti vengono portati i bagagli direttamente in camera e lo staff ti spiega tutto quello che c'è da sapere. È stata un' esperienza unica!

Stile moderno ma rispettoso della tradizione, Raffinatezza e accoglienza. Cene principesche.

The hotel is quite exquisite for our first time experiencing ryokan. The room is spacious, our kid was enjoying running around and had fun, sound proof was amazing. The facility is kid friendly with free gift, chairs and toys to keep them busy. Ryokan breakfast and dinner experience were superb too with exquisite services from the staff. I personally like the souvenir store, it consolidates various arts, craft, fashion and food around Otsu, Shiga and Lake Biwa.

I wish the private onsen has more rooms in future :)

Frühstück sicher sehr gut, aber für Europäer ungewohnt. Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis passt trotz des hervorragenden Essens und Services unserer Meinung nicht. Dazu ist die gesamte Anlage etwas zu sehr in die Jahre gekommen + Getränke und privates Onsen kosten extra. Durch die Nähe am Seh ist das Freiluftbad eher etwas für Insekten-unempfindliche Menschen.

Staying at Biwako Hanakaido was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. Our room was incredible and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. With regards to the facilities, they were fantastic, as was the onsen. The meals were also exceptional.

We truly enjoyed our stay and felt incredibly welcome from the very beginning. The staff were exceptionally kind and even picked us up from the train station, which made our arrival so easy and stress-free. The room was absolutely beautiful, with a stunning view that made our stay even more special. Everything was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully arranged. I’m especially grateful that my meals were carefully adapted to accommodate my vegan diet, it really meant a lot! I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a warm, welcoming, and memorable stay!

The place is peaceful and quiet, with great staff and service. The onsen is spacious and, depending on the time of day, empty or almost empty. The ryokan breakfasts and dinners are definitely an experience. It was a bit too much for us (I have a feeling people use this place more like a resort rather than as a base for trips to Kyoto and neighboring towns). The shuttle to and from the train station was a super nice touch.

If I could have two things different, it would be: - blackout curtains (the current ones were quite translucent) - option to choose a smaller one-shot meals, rather than full blown 10-meal menu that takes an hour or two to go through

We loved the whole setup. The place was extremely clean, rooms comfortable, staff very friendly and efficient, breakfast and dinner excellent. As this was our base for 3 night our meals were served in private room which was a nice touch.

和室2部屋取りました。5人と2人にしてほしいと言うと5人の部屋は少し大きめな部屋になっていました。 近江牛の夕食は足りないかなと心配していましたが、 豪華でした。朝ごはんも別の部屋で食べることになっていてとても豪華でした。

This was a true cultural experience for us. The staff were so welcoming and polite and could do enough for us. The facilities were great and we just relaxed and recharged here for two nights. The food was incredible each night offering us something special in a different dining area experience. The view over the lake and watching the eagles soar above was mesmerising.

There wasn’t much to do near by but really that wasn’t a problem as we were happy to just stay in the hotel and use the facilities.

Iida San at dinning room provided an excellent service. She always answered our requests promptly. Excellent kaiseiki dinner.

The food was fantastic! They accomodated my wife's shrimp allergy. The had a cute note waiting for us in our room to congradulate us and wish us a happy honeymoon. The view was beautiful, the hot spring was rejuvinating and hot! The bed and room as a whole was very comfortable. We loved the stay and wished we had more time in our itinerary to spend an extra night there.

Nothing could have been better which would have been in the hotel's control, hence all was wonderful and we loved our stay and were very greatful.

Great property and the dinner was really delicious. Room was nice. Private onsen experience was phenomenal and the staff were very attentive and friendly.

This is a beautiful and well kept Ryokan. The experience was unique. We enjoyed a private onsen and full shiatsu massages. Your stay includes a Michelin quality dinner and breakfast. The staff was friendly and accommodating.

Nothing really. Only the location is a little ways from Kyoto proper, and the train system is not that clear. However, the hotel staff gave good directions, and their shuttle will come pick you up from the train station as a convenience.

琵琶湖區非常大，因為我們是搭火車前往，如果飯店可以安排琵琶湖一日遊就更完美，方便沒有開車的旅客，甚至還可以讓住客為參加行程而多住一晚。

1. 訂房的時候，旅館人員留訊息確認住宿資訊，詳細且貼心。 2. 在雄琴溫泉站有免費電話可以直撥給旅館，對於外國旅客很方便，抵達旅館後，門口有服務人員迎接，並有一位會講旅客的母語來介紹設施。

It was a big surprise that there was just an insulation cabin inside the room. You need to cool your stuffs and placed them inside to keep the temperature. You needed to cool your things on 1st floor's coffee lounge and brought them back to your room. I wonder what will happen during summer time.

The Views from our room was fantastic. The private onsen facility combined with the views was a magical experience. Absolutely enjoyed the breakfast and cultural experience. However some more explanation of various components and the order in which they need to be consumed would have been good.

At the price we paid would have expected more of a personal touch. Like some flowers/chocolates on arrival or some take home mementos like skincare or some other goodies.

Everything! The room was clean, spacious and had an amazing view. In room onsen was the best ever, included dinner was like a 10 course Michelin meal. And above all the hospitality service made us feel very welcome and comfortable.

This ryokan is absolutely beautiful. The entire stay from check in to check out was exceptional. We went as a family with our 4yo and 8mo and they had all the facilities we needed including high chairs (a selection) for the kids as well as a kids menu, toy borrowing service and books. The public baths were beautiful. Make sure to try them all! We had the kaiseki dinner in a private room which was delicious and meant the kids being a little noisy didn't bother anyone. Our room overlooked Lake Biwa and it was very comfortable.

The location was good, both for private car and public transport (close to train station and it provided shuttle bus services). The staff who served us were warm and welcoming. Our room was clean and neat, slept on tatami and was able to see the lake. Onsen was excellent. Both dinner and breakfast, in Japanese dishes, were excellent. Highly recommended for families and couples who wanted a quiet stay.

room, dinner and onsen were all great. staffs are all very helpful and polite. I especially loves a lot the outdoor onsen because the water temperature kept very warm at these cold days. i think in other onsen hotels, the outdoor one has the water temperature a bit lower than the one in indoor, but Hana Biwako does a great job to keep it very well.

we came by 3 persons and would initially want to book a room of 2 and a room of 1. However Hana Biwako does not have the package for 1 person per room. finally i fix this by booking one room with one extra tatami bed. I think this is a bit not flexible enough.

저희는 신혼여행지로 일본 가을의 교토를 선택했습니다. 처음 일본을 방문하는 만큼 모든 것이 낯설고 설렘 가득한 여정이었는데, 그 시작을 비와코 하나카이도에서 할 수 있었다는 것이 지금도 참 다행이라고 느껴집니다. 이곳에서의 경험은 교토 시내 관광만큼이나, 아니 그보다 더 특별하게 기억되고 있습니다. 일본 여행이 처음이라 무엇을 먹고 어떤 문화를 체험해야 할지 막막했던 저희에게, 비와코 하나카이도에서의 식사는 최고의 선택이었습니다. 정해진 시간에 맞춰 정갈하게 차려지는 음식들은 일본 가정식의 여러 반찬을 다양하게 맛볼 수 있게 해줬습니다. 그 덕분에 저희는 일본의 식문화를 가장 자연스럽게 경험할 수 있었습니다. 또한 다다미 객실에서 머물고, 유카타를 입고 여유롭게 돌아다니며, 온천을 즐기는 시간은 "정말 일본스러운 여행을 하고 있구나" 하는 느낌을 확실하게 만들어 주었습니다. 조용한 분위기와 직원분들의 세심한 배려도 너무나 만족스러워서 다음에는 꼭 부모님을 모시고 다시 오고 싶다는 생각이 절로 들었습니다. 일본을 처음 방문하는 여행객에게, 비와코 하나카이도는 음식, 숙박, 문화체험 모든 면에서 충분한 만족을 주는 곳이라고 자신 있게 말할 수 있습니다. 다음에 또 이곳에 방문할 날을 기대합니다!

숙소 안에 소바 매장을 봤지만 이용을 못해봤습니다. 당시 운영을 하고 있었는지 모르겠지만, 재방문 시 한번 방문해보고 싶습니다.

Check in時有專人協助入住，可以很從容地在大廳的座位等待，也有服務人員將行李先放置在房間，專人也會解釋飯店所有的規定與設施，並帶領我們room tour 晚餐的懷石料理也有專人親切服務，每道菜都有詳細的解說。 大浴場的設施很乾淨，備品也很充裕，只需要人直接到現場就可以直接使用。

Incredible introduction and service. (Alexa was wonderful) being picked up from the station and dropped off, room was exceptional, felt like royalty. Private dinner was wonderful, this hotel made for great memories.

First time trying ryokan. Went absolutely above my expectations! Fancy private dining room that you both eat dinner and breakfast at. Very friendly staff who walks you through everything. Amazing private onsen with a beautiful view. Food was amazing! Shuttle bus was quick. Absolutely huge room, even for western standards!
