The place is lovely
No hot water.... The shower wouldn't work and no heating
Location for me was good although difficult to find from the details given .
The room was very shabby. The door surround had not been painted and was only in undercoat. There were no bedside lights. There was no sanitary bin in the bathroom.
Excellent customer service.
Staff were excellent and the hotel is very atmospheric
Convenient location. Quirky decor. Friendly staff who were very willing to help.
Noisy bar and lounge area. Staff weren’t always as slick as would like. Breakfast was not good value. The toilet in our en suite had a very wobbly seat. The shower had a step up into it that was about 10 inches high with no rubber mat or grab handle. Disappointing that the wash basin was outside the en suite.
The property was easy to find and a perfect location
There was confusion at check in, they had our details but didn’t have a room available, although this was resolved. The room was not cleaned properly, dirt and dust in the hard to get at places, there was a bed side lamp but nowhere to plug it in. There was tea and coffee but nowhere kettle. In the en-suite there was a window with no curtain that could be looked through whilst you showered. When we went into the pub attached the tables were not cleaned and were sticky.
Room was clean , staff friendly, good atmosphere in the bar downstairs
Would have preferred a shower in the bathroom, this may have been my fault if it was listed as no shower, I was more concerned with having a private bathroom which it was .
Für eine Nacht super, man könnte sich auch länger aufhalten
Our third stay at the Georgian House Hotel in the past 18 months, 20 minutes walk to city center and as we have arrived in a car it is good to park in the car park at the hotel.
All is fine.
Friendliness
Creaky beds
The breakfast was amazing! Staff were very friendly and the whole place was lovely. Traditional decor for the age of the building was very cosy and well kept.
It is a classic hotel that preserves its history—reminiscent of the Victorian era.
We didn't like the beds; they were very old and creaky, and the mattresses were terrible—we found it hard to sleep and our backs hurt. Traffic noise was another downside; we didn't get a good rest because of those two factors.
Found quite a few spider wedds in our room. The toilets within the public bar area where very dated and in need of updating and a deep clean.
Breakfast chosen by us was ok. Location was handy for our trip. Free car parking was convenient.
Mess in car park. Shabby decor. Broken lock on door, curtains in various rooms not hung correctly, dead bulbs in lights, toilet rim not cleaned, carpet edges taped in doorways, too much clutter, dog mess on decking outside room window and generally scruffy outside.
I liked its authenticity. It was a family run business and very charming.
Beautiful building and furniture. Breakfast was brilliant
Great stay
Lovely traditional clean hotel
Old fashion atmosphere. Room itself it was more then I could hope. Very lovely stay. Bed was very comfortable
My room faced main street. Was a bit load in night time.
Good prime location. Quirky.
The pillows were old and flat, absolutely no bounce in them at all. A beautiful 4 poster bed with no headboard and pillows that kept toppling over. No fan, apparently they were all out. No excuse for this considering the heat we have been dealing with. The room was stifling, with only the window to circulate any air. Which resulted in zero sleep due to the noise from the busy road. People knocking on other doors and shouting most of the night and a dof barking. Disappointed is a bit of an understatement really.
The staff were so friendly and helpful, great selection of beers etc, food very reasonable and decent pub food, the locals were so friendly, the place is like a live museum, we loved it and would certainly stay there again. Now this is not a Hilton or Park Plaza, so be mindful of what you get for the price, just a great place to stay and unwind, a 5 min walk into the City centre.
Lovely helpful staff, beautiful rooms, quiet at night, very nice food and drinks, lovely atmosphere. Close to town centre, comfortable bed, large spacious rooms. TV worked perfectly, bathroom extremely clean.
Dust in bedroom, especially on side table near bed and on mirror near bed ect . I suffer from a major dust allergy. Kettle needs descaling as there was a lot of limescale inside. No drinking glasses in the room.
מבנה ישן, עיצוב מיושן, הרבה מדרגות ומסדרונות עד ההגעה לחדר. אין ויפי. שרותים צפופים. זרם מים חלש . קושי לפתוח חלון. מיטה לא נוחה
Close to Derby city centre
No hairdryer. Couldnt open the window so really hot and airless. No fan. No food available Sunday and Monday evenings
Old rusty hotel. Full of character. Helpful staff.
Smelt a little mouldy. Wished the bar was open longer.
Staff friendly, great location, free car park and comfy bed
Rooms tired but for the cost perfectly fine
Nothing went well to be honest. We got to the airport at 9am and they were just informing us that the check in time was 3pm. We had to stay stranded at the airport. It was terrible. At the apartment, the staff checked us in casually. We couldn't cook, no AC, we had to beg them to provide a small standing fan for the room in the hot summer season.
Very small single room but fine for the night.
It was in a good location for visiting a student at the university.
I felt very unsafe in my bedroom (room 22). There was a Yale lock on the door with no way of locking the door from the inside. I used a chair up against the door as a security measure. I contacted the manager to ask if any room was lockable from the inside and was informed that all the locks had been adapted so that staff could gain access anytime. Not good practice in my opinion.
The breakfast provided for the first morning, was good.
No breakfast available on second morning, as we ‘hadn’t requested it’. Our party included two elderly relatives. They could not reach either the string pull light switch in the bathroom, or the string pull power switch to the shower pump. They had two light bulbs in a fitting for five. What could have been an enjoyable experience in faded Victorian surroundings was marred by the noisy customers in the bar area (it was World Cup football match night), and excessive road traffic noise.
The location was ok. The pub was convenient. The room was very clean and the breakfast was amazing.
Staff weren’t that helpful, friendly or accommodating. Parking onsite was tight and the pub was very noisy
Lovely old fashioned hotel with character. Staff were amazing. It had a bar/restaurant within the building. We didn't have dinner as the chef had day off but wasn't a problem as ate down the road. Breakfast was great and cooked to order. Would definitely recommend
Freundliches Personal, Parkplatz, unkomplizierte Abwicklung
Very old building 1756 I believe, it had a great vibe, the room was perfect We had a lovely stay thank you
Everything
Nice and clean, staff are nice and friendly, nice and quiet in the room and the 4 poster bed was nice and cosy
The bed was a little loose but was an easy fix
Nothing
It wasn't clean
Near to everything.
Nothing
Great customer service, homely atmosphere
Cant think of anything at the moment
Dirty room, poor service.
Old, quirky full of character.
Great staff, comfy bed, decor full of character and wooden panelling, good range of drinks, pleasing large outdoor area, free on-site parking with plenty of security cameras covering the whole property and a very good perfect cooked to order breakfast 🍳
Nothing to dislike here. A few minor points - a bit of wear and tear on the bedroom carpet and a bit of road noise...not criticisms because the pricing is very good for this hotel.
Great hotel, owner was really lovely, very chatty. Bonus it’s attached to the pub which has great food and then up the stairs to bed. Very quirky inside with lots of antique bits and pieces. There weren’t enough plug sockets but had it not been hot and needed a fan we would have been ok for chargers
The room and its setting were great - especially having Mr Grundy's Tavern on site.
I didn't spot any instructions for the shower. But I managed.
Cost/location/decor
Cobwebs, broken shower waste pipe, knackered curtain runners and really loud scraping front door.
The staff were nice
The room looked poorly cleaned, with dusty furniture and carpet. It was also very hot and the old fan in the room barely blew any air.
Great location, superb cooked breakfast and the staff were so friendly
Big room and friendly staff. Bar and beer garden were really good.
Toilet barely worked and we booked breakfast but when we went downstairs the restaurant was closed and we were told by a cleaner that no one was in.
I liked the round window
Well appointed rooms, lovely beer garden and good food from the pub linked to the hotel. Very friendly staff.
More choice at breakfast would be good, it was quite sparse.
Double room was pleasant enough for the second night, but rather dated and in need of a little TLC
Being kept awake most of the first night in the single room, by the occupant next door who had their TV on ALL night and loud. It wasn't dealt with particularly satisfactorily by the staff the next day - they simply moved me to another room.
The hosts were friendly, helpful, and made everything easy from check-in to departure. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the location was lovely. However, our room wasn’t part of the main house, was quite noisy, and unfortunately didn’t feel as clean as expected. We’d recommend booking well in advance to try and secure one of the better rooms in the main building.
Lovely unusual room with great facilities.
Room adjacent to the road suffered from road noise.
It was a homely family run hotel. Without exception, all the staff I dealt with were just so friendly and helpful.
Room was comfortable and the food was excellent
Quirky, with beatiful antique furniture in a wonderful old building. Good atmosphere, nice beds, lovely beer garden, easy parking and great value for money
Walls and floors in room a bit worn, had seen better days.
Full of character & lovely staff
No running hot water
The staff are so friendly , and go above and beyond to make each persons stay so warm and welcoming. Also like to say how professional the staff are, family ran and full of helpful information about the property. The bar is a lovely place, the rooms great and the food was so nice” especially the Sunday roast we had” recommend to anyone to stay there!
Nothing at all
Excellent
Toilet made a lot of noise on flushing
Can’t fault this place. Absolutely lovely staff and room was beautiful
Nothing
the 4-poster bed is lovely an very comfortable. The staff are very helpful and friendly. We didnt manage breakfast because when we took our bags out to the car we had deposited our key so we were locked out and the cleaner didnt hear us trying to get back in.
Nothing - it was perfect for us
Parking
The room was terribly cold, even with the heater on. The heater was broken, the shower was broken. Outside the window was a storage room where someone was constantly entering.
It was quaint
Nothing
Staff were nice
Bed was really uncomfortable, there was a problem with the heating and the room was freezing. I was kept awake til 3am because of a couple, especially the woman who was shouting and swearing at the top of her voice
Walking distance to the centre
First room we was given the door didnt close or lock properly. Was very quickly changed to a new room but this was a lot smaller and half decorated. The room was cramped and freezing cold, the bed was uncomfortable and creaked and the curtains didnt fit the windows properly to hold the light out. If both myself and husband hadn't had a drink we would have left and driven home as the room was awful.
My room was superb, and so was my breakfast!
Everything was great!
Staff room excellent parking great
Nothing everything fine recommend

The staff and the place was quirky .
Was cold and needs a bit of updating . Tiles on bathroom floor were loose .
Staff were lovely and the pub on site was good ☺️
There was a lot of noise but can’t be helped with it being on a main road.
Warm friendly welcome, period decor. Mr. Grundy's Pub with food. Reasonable price. Comfortable four poster bed in a spacious room with ensuite toilet and shower. Breakfast room looked beautiful. Very close to town.
I didn't like that we had to rush off in the morning.
Quirky, extraordinary food. Nice and easy location
Traffic a bit noisey
Location for our needs....
We arrived on a Monday after a long drive, and although we knew the restaurant was closed on a Monday it would have been nice to at least be able to buy a simple bar snack...
The character of the hotel and the pub. The warm welcome.
The shower wasn't great .
Fantastic original characterful hotel Great staff Excellent pub connected Great breakfast
