Reviewed Sep 16, 2026The motel is in a convenient location. The room (studio unit) is spacious with a couch and table and chairs.
We had a power out affecting our room and the adjacent spa and swimming pool. We reported it to reception and had to repeat it just before dark. After which it got fixed. The location of our room wasn't the best spot in the complex.

Probably just timing i believe.A large group of children were running around the hotel area, knocking on guest doors. The pool was very dirty a rubbish in it, the spa outside apprared grey and merky. Other than that it was a very clean tidy hotel.

They were quick in responding to queries before we arrived and ensured that we had rooms next to each other as we were 2 families travelling together. The rooms were well maintained with amenities where we were able to prepare our meals, have a glass of wine etc. The distance from lake Taupo was couple of minutes and 5 mins drive to the "#LoveTaupo" board. Overall an awesome experience and would highly recommend them to anyone and will definitely stay here again the next time we visit Taupo.

Only one tiny thing - there was an exterior light on the side of our building which we couldn't turn off, which meant we couldn't sit on the balcony and look at the stars. But that was all.

Cleanliness: The room did not appear to have been cleaned thoroughly, found hairs in the bed sheets that clearly did not belong to us, which was concerning. Soundproofing: Although soundproofing is listed under the motel’s facilities, it was not effective. While we were in bed with kids around 10pm, we could clearly hear the TV from the suite next door (left side), we were also disturbed early in the morning by people talking in another suite (right side).

The single bedroom had no heating and only one extra blanket so could have done with something else to help warm the space (heatpump worked great in the main room but that room became too hot to enable us to keep the heatpump on long enough to warm the single room also).

The room was very cold when we arrived, the air conditioning heating eventually warmed the room up, however the bathroom didnt have a heater and was freezing, the tiles were cold also. There was no toiletries in the bathroom. The curtains were very thin, the unit accross from us left their outside light on all night and it lite our room up all night. The cold came in via the front door also, probably just needs a draft exculder around it, you can see light through it at night.
