There was secure free parking. We had a nice view and balcony looking out at Hout Bay. The complimentary breakfast was very nice each day. The room was large and the tub a nice extra feature. Its a historic hotel with interesting photos. The bed was comfortable. Good fish restaurants nearby. Its right on the road to Chapmans Peak Drive.

The location was a bit farther from Cape Town than we may have preferred, but is right on the water at Hout Bay. The pool was unheated in May. It was many steps up to get to it, not quite like it is seen in the photos.

The Hotel is perfectly sited for a commanding view of the beach looking across from the southeast, enjoyment of beautiful sunsets from hotel balconies, close proximity to beach bars and nearby international cuisine restaurants, and for short drives or walks to shops and markets. I have stayed at Hout Bay several times before but never at a finer location. The interior restaurant, bar and lounge areas have the paneled oak charm of a Victorian gentlemen's club and the elevated outside veranda area is a favorite place to pass an afternoon observing the local scene. Gated guest parking assures the safety of both you and your vehicle. The staff is very helpful and accomodating. Breakfast is cooked to order. Conveniently close to the airport, 35-45 minutes depending upon traffic conditions.

The restaurant menu is rather limited and somewhat pricey compared to nearby restaurants such as The Beach Bar and The Dunes Beach Restaurant, both across the street and within easy walking distance. Dario's Cafe, a few minutes' walk away on the same side of the street, serves fine Italian cuisine at quite reasonable prices. Dario's wife is from Italy and runs the kitchen.

The location was excellent. The room was nice and clean and spacious and the fact that there was a restaurant/bar on the ground floor was a real benefit, meaning you didn’t have to go ‘out’ every night

Most of the staff were wonderful, however I felt the breakfast staff were not particularly engaged

Beautiful location modern hotel with a gorgeous pool and the whole of Hout Bay on your doorstep ! Popular bar restaurant with tasty breakfast too. All staff were warm welcoming and proud to be South African. Very lovely enjoyable stay ! Room was comfortable with a balcony & delicious bath to soak in!

De kamer(2de verdieping): ruim, schoon, een fijn balkon met het mooiste uitzicht op de baai en het strand wat je kunt krijgen in Houtbaai.

De locatie is top vlak naast Chapmans Peak weg over en he bent op het strand. Ook mooie ligging zwembad. Helaas 5 dagen regen dan vind ik het hotel beetje somber en het is tijd voor een re-style! Staf is super vriendelijk.

Love the view, the staff, the breakfast, room service. Everything was perfect. It was raining very hard so the fact that you are able to be in bed or in the bath and have a seaview while it's storming outside was exceptional. Thank you to the staff for their warm and friendly service.

The position

Excellent location, across the street from Kommetjie beach. We had a view of the sea and beach from our own private balcony. Staff were very friendly and the morning breakfast was excellent. The hotel also has secure parking. We would definitely stay there again.

Room was quite hot in hot weather

The location and view from our comfortable sea facing room was very good. The receptionist was very friendly.

The hotel was poorly run, the bar shut early without notice, the breakfast was poor quality and buffet 1 day and table service the next. They charge you for water at breakfast!! The management and bar staff were rude.

Der Pool mit Aussicht über den Strand war wunderschön. Das Zimmer war sehr gross und sauber, hatte alles was mach braucht. Das Personal war sehr freundlich. Dank dem Parkservice ist auch das Auto immer sicher geparkt.

I feel the bar area and restaurant a bit tired. The breakfast was ok, not as good as the others we had experienced in some of the guest house we had stayed in.

Room and view were excellent. Its on a very noisy road, although when the room patio doors are closed it was quiet. But you dont want to spend time in you room with the door closed.

This is a great hotel in a superb location. The staff are efficient and very friendly, the food is amazing - best calamari in Cape Town. This hotel offers everything.

Prachtige locatie, mooie kamer met balkon, heerlijke douche en parkeergarage voor de auto. Ontbijtje is ook heerlijk!

Wonderful staff, lovely location, amazing calamari and a lovely little pub. All with a great view. What more could you ask for?

Vi har nu været der 4 gange i alt og kommer helt sikkert tilbage igen fordi alt er bare så godt på det sted. Det er de sødeste mennesker der arbejder på hotellet. Der er rent og pænt og morgenmaden er perfekt. Det ligger super godt og alt spiller når vi er der. Tak til det søde personale for at give os den bedste oplevelse.

Alle hoteller vi kommer på har dårlige muligheder for stikkontakt i nærheden af et spejl. Det gælder også her.

The area is stunning

The value for money when you don’t click a sea view is horrid. You get a room that you are literally in a cave it’s dark and damp and not what is sold as a beautiful hotel. The reception clearly get this often that people not happy with the room and just say sorry go back to where you booked from. We asked for a refund and it has been ignored.

It’s location, it’s helpful & friendly staff. Secure parking. Chapmans peak came highly recommended by my friends. And I have to say I wasn’t disappointed in any way whatsoever. Food is great. Breakfast is great. Popular with the locals at the weekend, as located at the bottom of Chapmans peak drive. A stunning mountain side drive on a smooth toll road. Coating R66 about £3. Again highly recommended.

Perfect location! Right across from the beach and just a short stroll to all the shops. Lovely sized rooms, clean, fresh quality linen and towels. Friendly staff and waiters. Delicious sea food and presentation of all meals. Butter croissants at breakfast are so fresh and delicious.

The pool loungers could use an upgrade.(They covered in a shade cloth net material, and when putting your towel on, it makes you slide off. Housekeeping staff in the mornings are very loud talking in the passages waking the guests up because of high voices and laughing. I’d definitely add Coffee milkshakes, other flavour milkshakes and smoothies to the drinks menu. Breakfast buffet presentation of cold meats, cheese, yoghurt, fruits and juices can do with an upgrade. Maybe display it on a table rather than the bar counter. New dishes and jugs could be used.

We liked the location of the hotel

The breakfast was average, the staff were not very attentive. The passageway on floor no 1 was dirty. Only 2 small milk sachets. Disappointed that the rooms didn’t have an espresso machine with decent coffee. Only 1 small container of shower gel for 2 people.

The views of the bay are sensational from the seaside rooms!! … and all of the staff are exceptionally friendly!! The food was really great in the restaurant as well!!

the view from the penthouse was beautiful and the staff were lovely really helpful and professional. we would definitely stay here again

Das Restaurant bietet feines Essen und das Personal ist sehr nett. Auch die Bar ist gemütlich. Toll war am Morgen früh am Strand zu spazieren ohne das Auto nehmen zu müssen.

Es ist ein bisschen in die Jahre gekommen und dürfte eine bisschen Frische vertragen aber dennoch empfehlenswert.
