Bedroom decor was very bland, no character considering the style of the property. Too clinic. Terrible desk. Lighting was poor. No proper windows. Ac flow made it difficult to sleep. Cocktail bar glass floor looked terrible. Scratched, dirty between glass. Breakfast room was very basic and clinical. No character given the style of the property. Service was not 5 star. Price was way too high for what was offered.

De vriendelijkheid van het personeel was uitstekend en heel erg behulpzaam. Het personeel was heel geduldig en altijd aanspreekbaar. Houden zo! Er wordt zeer duidelijk ingezet op de klant is koning-methode. De Valet-service was heel goed georganiseerd. We hebben alleen ontbijt genomen, alles van voeding wat ze aanboden was kwalitatief zeer hoogstand. De kamer was zeer proper ook housekeeping was zeer vriendelijk. Goeie internet verbinding. Goeie airco

De douche zou meer privacy moeten bieden. Nu kan je losweg van in de slaapkamer kijken hoe iemand een douche neemt. Het raam zou geblindeerd moeten worden. Het uitzicht was beperkt en dat wisten we ook op voorhand, maar het is jammer dat het uitzicht uitgeeft op de achterkant van en tegenoverliggend appartementsblok. Het raam zou ook meer open moeten kunnen dan enkel een kiertje.

La décoration du bar (en travaux) et de la salle du petit déjeuner pourrait être embellie et ainsi être à la hauteur du cadre par ailleurs.

Der Service ist unprofessionell und entspricht in keinster Weise einem 5 Sterne Hotel!!!! Der Zimmerservice erfolgte erst auf Reklamation. Die Zuständgkeiten im Haus sind unzureichend geregelt. Das Haus macht keinen freundlichen Eindruck. Die Flure sind düster.

Forse le stanze sono un po’ fredde rispetto al contesto storico dell’edificio. Lo staff avrebbe potuto specificare meglio che nella nostra tariffa non era inclusa la colazione.

J’ai trouvé la chambre confortable mais pas exceptionnelle petite , robinetterie de douche de moyenne qualité La salle de restaurant est petite et de décoration minimaliste, on pourrait s’attendre à mieux vu l’architecture de l’hôtel. Après je pense que les chambres réservées sur booking ne sont pas les mieux ! Peut être aussi une question de prix !

Perfect stay, staff were polite, service was excellent and the hotel spotlessly clean. Pool, sauna and steam room included for hotel guests with robes slippers and fresh towels. Breakfast was outstanding, everything from salmon gravlax to eggs cooked to order. Would highly recommend. Really central location walk straight into the town square with plenty of sight seeing, bars and restaurants. The hotel was also truly dog friendly, the staff brought bowls and a blanket. If I ever return to Rouen, I'll be staying here again. Room was extremely spacious with a bath and shower including shampoo, body wash and bath salts. Excellent idea to have a brita filter in each floor which dispenses both still and sparkling water to prevent single use plastic bottles.

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour, l’hôtel est magnifique, le spa très agréable, le petit-déjeuner copieux et varié. Nous avons été très bien accueilli pour notre anniversaire de mariage dans une belle et grande chambre, merci.

Et bien de retour dans cet hôtel 5 étoiles quand même nous arrivions le sourire aux lèvres … et paf le coup du soufflet en entrant dans la chambre dite moderne surface ridicule petit lit mini bar presque vide et pas d’espace de chaque côté du lit donc pas d’espace pour caser les valises … ah le bar est en travaux certes remisé dans une soit disant galerie sans charme aucun …la piscine au moins une certitude et non le bar étant en travaux le plafond de verre est surchargé d’outils de sceaux de bâches et d’échafaudages au moins demain matin le petit dej sera à la hauteur de sa réputation … re flop rénovation de la salle qui etait magnifiquement baroque en une cantine d entreprise blanche et trop lumineuse… voila je vais prendre attache auprès de la direction pour leur donner mon avis éclairé donc attendre que les travaux se terminent… tellement déçu une petite pensée pour tous ces gens si contents de venir en ces lieux

Beautiful historic building in the centre of Rouen, right next to some of the main sites and many restaurants. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with very comfortable beds, quiet and very clean. Staff was incredibly attentive and helpful. The pool and spa is lovely, the steamroll was excellent. Breakfast was excellent, with lot of local products. The hotel offers valet parking at a fee.

Some parts of the hotel are lovely but some elements of our stay were so bad that overall this was a huge disappointment. I'd been really looking forward to our one night stay in a junior suite, a bit of luxury on a long journey, but there was a fault with our air conditioning (room 404) which meant that we got hardly any sleep. The air con unit buzzed loudly every 30 seconds for periods of about half an hour through the night, whether it was on or off. We told the reception staff and showed a video of the problem, she apologised and gave us a very small discount but it wasn't really proportionate to the impact of being kept awake most of the night. We also didn't get the promised turn down service. The receptionist didn't know why. She gave us the snacks that should have been give in the turn down service, but that's really not the same as returning to a room that's been nicely readied for sleep. The spa was enjoyable but staff variable: the manager was so rude and unaccommodating that the hotel receptionist had to come and explain to her that we were entitled to use the spa. Definitely felt like the spa manager only wanted people who were playing for treatments, not hotel guests. Also be aware that the spa only opens at 10am and hotel check out is 11am. The breakfast was good with a nice range of food available from the buffet including some gluten free Madeleines, but they were very dry.

The hotel is a former castle, and if you want the experience of staying in a castle, it is hard to beat this one. Rooms were great. The staff was super friendly, helpful, and accommodating. And it is hard to find a better location in Rouen.

Located in the heart of Rouen's historic center, this hotel strikes the perfect balance between old-world charm and modern comfort. Housed in a beautiful historic stone building, the rooms are surprisingly contemporary, spacious, and thoughtfully designed. One feature we especially appreciated was the air conditioning—a real luxury during the heat wave we experienced in France, since many older buildings simply can't accommodate it. The hotel has a lovely private courtyard that's perfect for enjoying a quiet morning coffee, and the breakfast buffet is excellent, with a generous selection of cheeses, charcuterie, smoked fish, pastries, and made-to-order eggs and pancakes. We only opted for breakfast once because we tend to eat lightly in the mornings, and it felt a bit expensive for us personally, but it's incredibly convenient and offers plenty of variety if you're looking to fill up before you start your day. Our room was spacious and very comfortable, with an excellent bed, a roomy closet with plenty of hangers, strong Wi-Fi, and a powerful shower after long days of sightseeing. We valet parked our car (there’s really no easy parking around there), and didn’t even think about needing it until we checked out, there was so much to see. The location is truly hard to beat. You're just steps from the Joan of Arc Church, surrounded by wonderful cafés, bars, restaurants, and shops, and only a short walk from Rouen's UNESCO-listed historic center and magnificent cathedral. We also took a walking tour of the city, which was fantastic and gave us a much deeper appreciation of Rouen's fascinating history. Finally, the staff were consistently warm, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. This hotel offers a wonderful blend of historic character, modern amenities, and an unbeatable location—I would happily stay here again.

The room and the bathroom we had were very spacious and elegant. The building is historic with sympathetic renovations. The staff are very helpful and the facilities excellent. And they have valet parking. It is centrally located, ideal for tourists who can walk to the sights.

The storage in the hallway to the room looked quite cheap compared to the room itself and did not offer enough space..

Der Palast ist ein Traum, die Lage perfekt. Der Parkservice war perfekt. Das Zimmer sollte mal renoviert werden, die ziemlich laute klassische Musik beim Frühstück ist eher nervig. Es gab eine Hochzeit im Haus, vielleicht war es deshalb eher hektisch und nicht so aufmerksam wie wir es kennen.

Some praise first, since I'm told it's good manners. The location is superb, the room was comfortable, and the breakfast staff were an absolute delight, warm, attentive, the works. Genuinely lovely people. Make of that what you will about the rest of the operation. We'd spent the day touring the Normandy beaches, which felt fitting, given that eighty-odd years ago a great many British and Allied soldiers gave their lives so that the people of this region could live freely and, evidently, close bars whenever they fancied. That evening we returned hoping to watch England's World Cup match, only to discover the hotel bar was being refurbished, a detail nobody had thought worth mentioning at check-in. Instead we were shown to a temporary setup on folding tables, which had all the ambience of a village fete with delusions of grandeur. The evening's entertainment, a keyboard player, greeted our arrival by introducing us to the room as "la beauf." For the uninitiated, this roughly translates as "common, beer-swilling football enthusiast," which, fair enough, but perhaps not the warmest welcome a paying guest expects. Then came the pièce de résistance. With fifteen minutes left in the match, we were told the bar was closing and the television needed to go off. We mentioned, reasonably, that there were fifteen minutes left. "Non." We asked for a duty manager, who swanned in with ten minutes still on the clock, delivered his own crisp "non," switched the television off himself, and suggested we retire to our rooms to watch the rest on our phones, like guests who'd overstayed their welcome at their own wedding. We raised it the next morning. Silence has followed ever since, a silence so complete it's almost its own form of customer service. So: beautiful hotel, wonderful city, excellent breakfast team, and an evening crew who could teach a masterclass in how to turn ten minutes of football into a full diplomatic incident. I'd stay again for the croissants. I'd avoid it entirely if you ever want to watch the end of a match. .

We arrived back from having a meal with friends to watch the World Cup in the bar. We entered the bar and we were the only guests in the bar. We had a drink and settled in to watch the football. 10 minutes before the end of the match I was told they were closing and were turning off the TV and we were to leave! As you could imagine we were not best pleased from this 5 star hotel. I asked to see the duty manager. Along came a man and said we had to leave. Offered know alternative apart from we could go back to our rooms and watch it! I was insulted and felt like a child being told off, unbelievable! To top it off one of the staff muttered “Roast Beef” to us. A derogatory term for us being English. Really disappointed and spoilt the experience. The rest of the staff were very helpful and friendly, just spoilt by this unnecessary insult and incompetence.

1/ Le bar, atroce ! Avec une soirée "sponsorisée" le soir du 25/06, dans un brouhaha indescriptible et avec une musique de centre commercial intrusive, tonitruante ! On aurait dit la salle de rassemblement avant excursion d'un village du Club Med bas de gamme, là où on attend d'un établissement tel que le vôtre, au moins le luxe et le calme, sinon la volupté. Simple, j'y avais rendez-vous, j'ai relocalisé, sans évidemment prendre de consommation... Ne parlons pas non plus du décor de la salle du petit déjeuner, c'est ici également simple, c’est un buffet de la gare... 2/ La chambre, d'une décoration désuète (hôtel de famille 2*, à la déco de récupération, dans une province perdue), où les prises sont si rares qu'il faut choisir entre recharger son portable ou utiliser la machine à café. Pas d'emplacement pour poser la valise sinon une seule étagère en haut d'un placard - Une TV bas de gamme (LG), même pas fixée au mur. Donc pas de place pour un bureau ! Nul ! (Je précise pourtant, c'était une chambre de 30 m² avec vue sur la ville, donc pas de catégorie inférieure)

素晴らしい建物！外観に感動した。 清潔感があり、クーラーもしっかり効いていて快適に体を休ませる事が出来た。 コーヒーやフィルターを通された飲み水も飲めて、暑い夜に助かった。 シャンプーやボディーソープもとても良い香りで気に入ったので購入した。

案内された部屋は、良い位置の部屋ではなかった。窓からの景色がホテルの裏側で最悪。 サイトで見ていた窓からの景色とは全く異なり、とても気分が落ち込んだ… だからカーテンは開けなかった。 フロントスタッフは英語も話せて とても感じが良い人ばかりだが、 星付きホテルのフロントスタッフにしては 仕事ぶりがぎこちなくプロらしくない人もいたように感じた。

It’s location in the city centre and in a historical building

Couldn’t believe that we had to kneel in the bath to shower and that there was no separate shower cubicle. Attention to detail was poor with curtains not fully hung on hooks, even after requesting these to be attended to.

Beim Check In bekamen wir zunächst ein sehr spartanisches Zimmer. Es hatte faktisch kein Fenster. Gebucht hat wir ein gehobenes Zimmer mit Blick in die Stadt! Nach dem wir uns beschwert hatten, bekamen wir das richtige Zimmer. Entschuldigt hat sich niemand.

L’espace Spa (Hammam, Sauna, Piscine) est une vraie merveille, j'y ai d'ailleurs passé 5 heures tant l'endroit invite à la détente. La piscine, construite juste sous le bar, est vraiment grande : j'ai adoré pouvoir y nager sur le dos pendant 25 mètres en ayant la certitude de ne toucher personne. Le soir, prendre un verre au bar de l'hôtel a été une excellente expérience, le cadre est très sympa et le prix de la coupe à 16 € est tout à fait correct pour ce standing.

Grosse déception sur le petit-déjeuner. Pour ce standing (28€), on s'attend à du frais : ici, les viennoiseries ne sont pas au niveau et les jus sont totalement insipides. Un comble quand on sait que la boulangerie de Christophe Cressent, Meilleur Ouvrier de France est à littéralement 150 mètres de là. Autant s'abstenir de prendre l'option à l'hôtel et faire quelques pas dehors. Côté chambre, la télévision est étonnamment petite et l'absence totale de connectivité moderne (pas de Netflix ou d'Apple TV) est en décalage avec les standards actuels. Ironie de l'histoire : l'écran géant du petit salon qui diffuse le film historique de l'hôtel est bien plus grand. J'aurais aimé bénéficier de cette taille d'écran dans ma propre chambre.

Tussendeuren op de gang klappen hard dicht, dat stoort ‘s nachts. Mindervaliden ingang en de wandeling door een lege ontbijtzaal richting het restaurant doen afbreuk aan de grandeur. Restaurant l’Amale is oké maar maakt pretenties niet waar.

Le bâtiment, l’architecture et l’emplacement central sont très appréciables. La chambre était également très bien. Une partie du personnel était charmante, efficace et très arrangeante.

La restauration laisse à désirer : le dîner du soir n’était pas à la hauteur d’un établissement 5 étoiles, et le petit-déjeuner a été catastrophique, avec peu ou pas de choix et une équipe complètement débordée. Une cliente de l’hôtel a même donné sa tasse à mon épouse, faute de vaisselle disponible… Une grosse réorganisation logistique s’impose.

The hotel had everything we wanted, and right in the centre, in a beautiful square just off the Place du Vieux Marché. It’s in a beautiful old palace but enjoys great modern comforts, including a lovely pool. Staff were all super friendly. We’d definitely return.

I stayed here 12 or 13 years ago with my husband. Without online maps it was a bit difficult to find because it’s right in the middle of Rouen. This time it’s was a snap to find it. We loved everything about it then and I think it’s even lovelier now. First, the location is absolutely unbeatable! Right in the beautiful and historic city of Rouen. You can walk to every place, and the GrosHorloge is just a short walk. The hotel itself is in a historic and gorgeous old building. The rooms are great, with good space and amenities. Our families rooms were a bit apart from each other, and I enjoyed the twists and turns of the walk between. Ask for adjacent rooms if you don’t enjoy exploring the old hotel and just want convenience. The breakfast, if you choose to eat here, is fantastic. I can’t imagine there could be more choice and we all were satisfied. Staff is superb. Most all speak English and they are so kind, pleasant and helpful. Best of all, the prices are quite reasonable for the location alone, but the additional services, history of the building and great staff make it a huge win. I’m glad I brought my family back.

Just wrapped up an excellent stay at Hotel de Bourgtheroulde for my first time visiting Rouen. The location is outstanding -- making most of the sights within very easy walking distance. The room was spacious, clean, safe, and very comfortable -- everything you'd expect in a luxury property. The staff were friendly, sincere, and really made me feel like a valued guest. Tip: this is one of the properties where a courtyard view is a good thing as it overlooks a beautiful 16th century artifact. The only thing that was less than stellar was the breakfast -- not bad, but not outstanding. Rouen is a special city and this is a wonderful place to stay when you visit!

Personalul a fost jenant. Când am ajuns la recepție, figuram doar cu o cameră rezervată, pe confirmarea de la booking aveam 2 camere, cum de fapt și era corect. Am așteptat 15 minute pentru a termina check inul. Am ajuns seara, in jurul orei 20.30, era ziua de Paște, am terminat cu cazarea și am întrebat dacă putem lua cina la restaurantul hotelului. Mi s-a spus că este rezervat tot. Am întrebat dacă putem lua masa undeva în oraș și poate să ne facă o rezervare. Au sunat la un restaurant dar fiind Paște era închis. Am întrebat unde putem cina totuși. Ni s-a răspuns că nu știe. Să încercăm la barul hotelului, ei au snackuri. La bar nu aveau nimic de mâncare și ni s-a spus că nici băuturi cu gheață, cocteiluri, mocktailuri nu pot face deoarece nu au gheață. Asta după ce am așteptat la masă la bar vreo 20 de minute și barmana nu ne-a acordat nicio atenție, până când nu am mers noi la ea. A doua zi la micul dejun coada pentru a putea intra în restaurant era de jumătate de oră. Erau mese goale dar nu erau curățate. Mâncare nu era aproape deloc, bufetul era gol, vasul cu ouă gol, cel cu bacon gol, pâine era doar pentru toast, platourile pentru salam, brânză, legume toate erau goale. Pe sală erau două ospătare care lucrau incontinuu dar nu făcea față să curețe mesele, să umple bufetul. Am comandat omletă și am așteptat o oră după ea. După o oră de haos și o coadă mare pentru micul dejun, au apărut încă 4 ospătari care se plimbau prin sală, deci personal era, dar probabil că nu aveau chef de muncă. Așa ceva, o așa proastă organizare eu nu am mai văzut și am umblat mult până acum. Am stat doar o noapte. Când am ajuns la Paris, seara, fiul meu și-a dat seama că a uitat niște haine in dulap la acest hotel. A sunat la hotel, are 16 ani, și i-au închis telefonul. Am trimis eu mail a doua zi dimineață. Răspunsul lor, seara,a fost să trimit mail la altă adresă și să spun mai multe detalii.

Directions about access to the hotel by car could be a little clearer.

The front desk is terrific. They are very responsive and eager to help. The room was great and well appointed. Benjamin, the bartender was the only downside of the entire experience. He may have had a bad day. We covered the city in two days. A must see is the Joan of Arc museum. An audio tour is a must.
