The property was nicely setup, clean and tidy.

Bathroom door did not close in the room. Parking was very tight and very busy. Weekend menu was limited by a numbered of dishes not being available and expensive. Ability to charge was not metered and very limited space to attach the charger to the car.

Good location, lovely hotel, nice room with a fabulous shower. Had a fabulous meal in the restaurant, spoiled slightly by a really loud group in the other room. Beautiful position next to lake. Friendly staff.

Unfortunately our stay was spoilt by the banging and thudding coming from below our room (Ash Room) at 7am. We realised we were directly above the Reception/bar/kitchen area 😩. Breakfast ok although why it’s served in a cramped bar area with the phone constantly ringing is a mystery to me when they have a beautiful restaurant room next to it. The climbing vine outside bedroom French doors need cutting back completely spoilt any view we had of the outside. 🙁

The outside aspect area with the lake and outdoor seating was lovely for summer and the indoor restaurant was light and bright overlooking the lake. Our room was spacious and immaculate, finished to a high standard. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was exceptional.

There wasn’t anything we didn’t like. I would have liked a suitcase rack in the bedroom and I like a cappuccino with breakfast but they were the only two small details missing in an otherwise perfect stay.

Stayed in Hazel, a lovely large room on ground floor overlooking the pond with external access and outside seating, with large shower room and double shower, large comfortable bed. Staff very welcoming and helpful, food at both dinner and breakfast was superb. Convenient for junction 43 of M6 ideal stopover in pleasant location outside Carlisle. EV charger on site

Door from dining room to bedrooms oddky positionded and narrow, stairs carpet pale therefore shows up footprints and paintwork not as you would expect from a high spec venue. The kettle in room very low spec, the selection of drinks lacking, no fridge, hair dryer over heated after 2 mins and had little power to dry my hair.

The location was superb & the property top notch. Food was excellent & staff were very polite. We enjoyed our stay & rate this property 5stars

Great location, just off the motorway. Handy for Carlisle and Hadrian’s Wall. The lodge is a lovely place to unwind. Our room was Willow, it was spacious as was the bathroom. We really enjoyed the food too, so nice to have BBQ lobster (Fridays) and we had a fabulous Sunday roast. Highly recommended. V

Staff were very welcoming and responsive, food exceeded my expectations, and the room was very clean and comfortable. Thoroughly impressed!

The location is excellent, just off the motorway but very peaceful and in a beautiful setting. The staff are lovely and friendly. Our room was large and very comfortable and relaxing. The bed was very comfortable as were the armchairs and the bathroom was one of the nicest we have come across.

At breakfast the posh coffee machine was not switched on so we were unable to get a latte (only filter coffee) Overall the breakfast was good - hot options, cereal, toast, and little pots of fruit and yoghurt but it would be nice to have a croissant or pastry.

Newly refurbished lovely modern Hotel , tastefully decorated and furnished. Staff were all very good, professional and friendly. We had dinner and breakfast, both very good, quality ingredients , freshly cooked and tasty.

Nothing to dislike , the TV was small and a bit difficult to find channels but that could have just been me .

The location and general wow factor of the property. The owner. The evening meal.

Loose fittings and fixtures, non-working lights. Being awoken at 4am because of a fault on the fire alarm. Poor quality breakfast, using past their use by date produce, and indifferent staff. The price for such a disappointing stay. The search continues for a decent borders stop-over..

Breakfast was fantastic with a wide range of traditional and continental options as well as fresh fruit and yoghurts. The room we were allocated was lovely, cosy and clean - a little on the smaller side but nothing unmanageable. We travelled in for a wedding as was in good proximity to the venue (around 15/20 mins) via a local taxi firm. Staff were always smiling and happy to help, would definitely recommend to friends and family.

As said above, the room was lovely however compared to other rooms available at the establishment ours was on the smaller side but not unmanageable!

There was a wide choice for breakfast and friendly staff. The room was lovely and big and the bed was comfy.

There was noise through the wall from the kitchen/reception area. Also the light outside the room kept going on and off over night. It wasn’t a major issue but would have been good to sort those two things.

We were welcomed personally and taken to our room. The welcome letter in the room was very informative. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff - they were all exceptional. As a coeliac it was such a treat to have a choice with the chef providing a wonderful meal of fish and chips. Thank you so much to you all.

There was just one negative experience from our perspective in the dining room when we witnessed rudeness towards the staff. But credit to the staff involved the situation was dealt with professionalism and discretion. We just hope the customers involved reflected and apologised the following morning.

Wunderschönes Zimmer, welches mit Liebe eingerichtet wurde. Wir haben in der Lodge Abendessen und Frühstück genossen, welches wirklich sehr gut war. Der herrliche See, welchen wir auch vom Zimmer aus bewundern konnten, hat das Ambiente perfekt gemacht.

Das Hotel war verwinkelt und ohne Fahrstuhl. Mit unseren schweren Koffern war es daher nicht ganz einfach … aber der Umstand kann vernachlässigt werden, wenn man nur auf Durchfahrt ist.

Breakfast was exceptional and it is a beautiful hotel, not too far from the motorway.

The room was beautiful. It was roomy and stylish. There was an elegant restaurant in the complex. I had a problem with the lock to the room, but a staff member sorted it out very quickly. We were very pleased that we stayed here.

It was supposed to be a nice business trip stay at a 5-star hotel with two of my colleagues. It was £179 for a one-night stay in the middle of the week. Upon arrival, we were told we couldn’t stay in the room unless we slept in the same bed. (The suite had two rooms, one with bunk beds.) The manager showed up almost an hour later, just as we were in the car park about to leave to look for another hotel. (There are two Premier Inns nearby for much less.) We agreed to pay an extra £100 so we could stay in a bigger room. We agreed just to get it over with and focus on our meeting topics, not the absurd situation we were put in. But all in all we were unsatisfied with the experience and this felt like a rip off and not a settlement\ for our inconvenience. Breakfast coffee tasted like puddle water, which was odd because we had decent coffee in the afternoon. When I asked if they could serve any vegetables with breakfast, I was told, “We don’t do vegetables in the morning.” Now the best part — three weeks later, after I left a not-so-great review, I received a call from the manager, who is also the owner. He did not care about what I had to say. He only complained about how unfair it was that I left a 2-star review and asked how I would feel if someone did that to my business. Very professional, Mr. McG. Not a single apology for the situation we experienced. He kept interrupting me whenever I tried to respond to his rant. And the cherry on top: a few hours later, he left a 1-star review on my employer’s business profile, calling me entitled and abusive. What are you expecting to achieve? P.S. Mr. Hotel Manager, please look up what a 5-star hotel actually means and provides before misleading people. So here I am, edited my review from 2 starts to 1star. For hotel to leave a 1 star review on their customers business is something I have never hear before. Pathetic.

Nice smart cosy hotel

Guests in The Maple room next door were very noisy past midnight, and swearing exceptionally loudly.

The location is very nice off the main motorway, but not too far. The property is well maintained, quiet and comfortable. The staff is attentive and friendly seeing to our every need during our stay. This is our second visit and we absolutely love it. The food at Finis, on site, is worth just a visit for dining.

Such a relaxing and beautiful hotel. I wish we had booked for longer! The staff were so welcoming and friendly and the room was lovely. The breakfast was delicious as well. Our room got upgraded which was absolutely amazing as we were expecting a "cosy" size room and the one we had was enormous and had such a nice bathroom . Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Willowbeck had the "Wow factor." It was such a stunning place!! We were welcomed straight away by Fiona who continued to be very helpful throughout our stay. The bed in our room was very comfortable. The shower room was big and very modern. Our cooked breakfast was very delicious with freshly made coffee.

We liked everything.
