The Glen Hotel Newtonmore - Rooms, bar & restaurant

We received a very warm welcome from the hotel owners, who were extremely friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. We also had dinner at the hotel and really enjoyed it — and the beer was excellent! Breakfast was very tasty, with a lovely traditional Scottish selection. Our room was spacious, clean, and had a charming, more traditional style that suited the character of the hotel perfectly. Free parking was a great bonus. Overall, considering the price, we thought it was excellent value for money and would happily recommend staying here.

Wir hatten einen schönen Aufenthalt für eine Nacht. Das Zimmer hätte ein wenig größer sein können, war aber sehr gut möbliert. Das Bad war sehr gut. Der Pub, der zum Hotel gehört, ist gut. Das Frühstück war überaus zufriedenstellend, ich hatte eins der besten schottischen Frühstücke auf unserer Tour.

Easy to find, easy to park, plenty of spaces. Check-in was easy. The staff were great and helpful. Dinner was nice (try the venison casserole) - Breakfast was nice. Very quiet in hotel. I thought I was alone in hotel until i met others at breakfast. Would stay again.

Spotlessly clean hotel. Organised dining with time slots for meals, meaning everything is freshly cooked for you without you having to wait. Management and staff were friendly and attentive.

Can't fault the hotel in any way.

It was very clean, attention to guest comfort was obvious, the food was great! The proprietors were very nice and helpful.

A fan would have been nice, but the lack of one did not lessen the enjoyment of the stay.

We loved the hotel and the staff were all friendly and excellent. We had a lovely welcome from Kim and Chris and we could not fault their hospitality. The whole place was spotlessly clean, nicely decorated and looked very well cared-for. The flower tubs and hanging baskets outside are a very nice feature that were clearly lovingly maintained. We would happily return.

The menu choice was a little limited for vegetarians, but overall we had a lovely 3-night stay.

Stayed here on my last night after hiking The Speyside Way. The last part of the hike from Aviemore is a little uninspiring and Newtonmore is a little quiet. But if you are staying there I would highly recommend this hotel. The staff are lovely. Very friendly. Just keep it simple and book food there. Food is very good and service excellent. The room was a highlight. Think it had the best bathroom of any hotel I stayed in all week. Nice to have some space when you are pretty tired after a tough hike. Really handy for train station the next day.

Location adds a few minutes to the hike but in the morning it works out and leaves you with a shorter walk (about 10 minutes only) to the train station.

Our room was facing the road and very noisy as the room was very hot so we had to keep the windows open.

Das der untere Teil der Fenster nicht geöffnet werden kann. Bei den warmen Temperaturen die eir hatten, wäre das schon fein gewesen. Wählt man Tomaten zum Frühstück: landen Tomaten aus der Dose am Teller.

Nice accommodation above quiet town pub. Nice cooked breakfast with choices. Dinner in pub great and fitted us in at short notice. Not many food choices in this area. Eating places further north in Aviemore very busy and need prior bookings. Nice spot to spend a few days while doing hikes in area.

A little pricey however not uncommon for accommodation in this area.

It was the perfect location for our visit to the sheep dog demonstration. The pub downstairs has an excellent food selection. Breakfast had great hot and cold choices, coffee, tea, juice etc. The service was excellent.

Lovely pub presence and atmosphere, lovely staff, handy to everything nearby. Rooms comfortable, large beds. Breakfast was awesome, had everything you needed and catered for allergies.

We totally enjoyed our stay at the Glen Hotel which has recently undergone renovations. The room was excellent. The self check in process was great too.

Probably the cleanest Hotel I have ever stayed in!! The staff were excellent, we arrived late but they made us feel very welcome. Lovely breakfast with plenty of choice. MacPhersons Museum directly across the road, walk to the local village shops, few miles from Kingussie & the castle.

Carpet in room not hygienic 2 mattresses put together not comfortable should be king or double 1 mattress only food was average was rushed to complete order form for breakfast as soon as we got in the breakfast room overcooked hard fried eggs no option on form for runny or firmer eggs was not asked by server which would have been helpful overpriced for what we had reading response from owner about our review you cannot deny the 2 mattresses pushed together maybe other people dont mind this but for us its a no i even called to check we had not been put in a twin room and the owner said no which turned out to be 2 singles put together which was not mentioned he could have said its 2 mattress put together as business owners ourselves ( not accommodation) honesty is the best policy i know when i am being rushed to do something ie breakfast form as for the review its being honest thats the whole point to give people an insight of room/bed/service food etc at the property we have rented Villas/ Houses for weeks / and months at a time also Hotels and Bed and Breakfast all over as far as Australia and always give an honest review.

It was a flashback many decades. So lovely and homey. Wonderful staff. We had dinner at the downstairs restaurant. Food was good and the staff was great. So personable and friendly. The room was very cozy and comfortable with a large bathroom. I loved it. The breakfast was so good! We really enjoyed it and our whole stay. Nice convenient parking.

What a little Gem. Nothing was too much trouble. Staff are all very friendly and attentive. The breakfast is fab and plenty choice. We ate there on the three nights and food was excellent. After a good day walking plenty water for a nice hot bath. Will definitely return.

The room was a great size and it was very clean with good facilities that gave a nice homely feel.

This place was amazing. Great custom order breakfast. Rooms were great. Near a nice street to shop and just down the road from a place for groceries if needed. Owners were nice and accommodating. Parking lot does get full at night as it’s a pub/restarting as well.

Convenient stop over from Edinburgh and the Isle of Skye. Staff very courteous.

It was closed one of the days we were there due to staff shortages so not their fault. But it meant no bar in the evening and no breakfast in the morning which was a shame.

Scrambled eggs, yum, a nice buttery flavour, well cooked.

Great food in general (breakfast, dinner), nice variety of beers, very friendly staff willing to help with local "taxi" and recommendations on what to do. Possibility to leave luggage after check out and pick it up later.

The bed was so comfortable I was out like a light as soon as my head hit the pillow. The bathroom was roomy and had good water pressure. The restaurant downstairs had a great atmosphere and we really enjoyed both our dinner and dessert.
