Excellent location and facilities perfect for our overnight stay.
Only problem was the shower head not able to be positioned correctly.
Good and unique location, helpful staff, lovely breakfast.
A little more space in the room but good value for what we had.
Beautiful location on the common, roaming cows and horses..Good access to other places to visit. The staff were lovely. Food and wine excellent, we had breakfast and dinner. Room was small, adequate and the bed was comfy. Lots of free parking on the common surroundings the pub. The place is very old and there are lots of varying steps, just be aware if you have any mobility issues. All rooms are on upper floors. Having said all of that, we will visit again.
The room is a bit tired, no bedside drawer i on one side. The bathroom is very tight because the vanity sink is way too big for the room and you can barely get to the toilet. Staircase a bit tricky to navigate!
Location was quiet, free parking, there was food on premises.
My single room was really basic and dated. The floor was sloped, en-suite was very small, bathroom radiator was very rusty. The mattress was noticeably dented and completely lost its bounce. I was so uncomfortable I struggled to sleep and got a bad back. It was noisy and the breakfast was fried in a very cheap fat, which gave me liver pain. My AirBnB stays were a lot more comfortable.
What a wonderful place to stay! Views in all directions. Amazing building. Staff are brilliant.
Quirky
Shower
Cosy, friendly staff, food very tasty, comfy chairs to sit in in room plus table and desk. Loved the four poster bed!
Bathroom floor could have been cleaner, mat in bedroom needed a bit of a clean.Bit of a long wait for food in restaurant in evening
Location, staff and catering are very lovely.
Our bathroom and the stairs and corridors desperately needed cleaning. Downstairs public areas were fine.

Great breakfast and a comfy bed
Such a beautiful spot!
Very nicely appointed pub/restauant and room in an excellent location. staff were very friendly and breakfast and dinner were very good. Views across the common were excellent. Good location for visiting the Cotswolds.
Location of massive Tv in bedroom was a little strange!
breakfast
Great hotel in a super location. Nice staff and delicious food
Beautiful location staff very friendly lovely meal
Little noisy as room right over pub entrance
Room small but knew that in advance. Little problem with water but was fixed. Breakfast was delicious. Great palce for meals and drinks with lovely outdoor area.
Water was an issue but was fixed
Fantastic location especially with a dog considering the wide commons around it! An old lodge with character. The staff was very friendly and the food tasty.

Lovely location set in the middle of Minchinhampton Common.
Having booked and paid for a Superior Double Room with bath and seating area for 2 nights, we were shown to a very small Double Room. When we went back to reception to question this, they apologised and said the room we had booked was not available for both nights. Eventually we were moved to a slightly bigger room, though not a Superior room and offered £75 to cover the extra we’d paid and the rest to spend in the hotel. What was so bad was that we were shown to the room without even being told it was not the room we’d paid for. This is not good enough and compensation did not make up for spoiling our trip.
Generally it’s a very nice place to stay. The food was very good. The bed was comfortable
I was shocked to see the state of the bathroom, which had a rusty radiator and the mastic around the shower was in a bad condition with mold. A shame it would not take much to put these things right. I was in Room 5.
Colazione ottima.
The rooms were very comfortable and the breakfast was amazing. Superb location with stunning views of the common.
It was in a beautiful location , the staff were lovely , food and drinks amazing . The room was perfect and so comfortable . Breakfast was fantastic . And All such great value for money
Both breakfast and dinner were excellent
The stairs up to the bedroom were difficult for anyone with mobility difficulties
The location is absolutely stunning.Horses and cows roaming free around and 160% views
Splendid old traditional house
Room was clean and comfortable but a little noisy from the pub garden, but quiet later in the evening. Dinner was excellent. Breakfast menu was varied and food was good. The location is great, directly on Minchinhampton common, with parking available, and great walks on the doorstep.
I telephioned ahead about a month before our visit to book dinner. I checked on arrival and the member of staff showing us the room said she would check we were booked in. However, on arriving at the dining room there was no booking but they were able to 'fit us in' after some discussion in the almost empty restaurant.
Excellent staff, food and location.
Room was a bit small but only stayed one night so was perfectly adequate.
Location great, breakfast v good too. Plentiful parking. Particularly great that there’s no extra charge for dogs
Room was v hot but was the hottest day of the year and was offered a tower fan (depriving the staff in the bar though!).
Location Staff Food Breakfast Walks Views
Water pressure in shower poor Hot so windows opened but had to close due to smells from kitchen/frying (Rm4)
Lovely building in a scenic location. All the staff were professional & made us feel very welcome. The food at dinner & breakfast was hot, nicely presented & delicious. Great value for money.
Excellent Breakfast, friendly staff, comfortable room
Ongoing repairs to roof outside of window
The views and location were fab at this old lodge on the common and golf course. I was the only guest not attending a wedding held there, but I still got care, attention, and friendliness from the staff. The breakfast was very good and more than I could eat. I would definitely use it again.
A little bit more attention to refurbishing the room maybe as I had a struggle opening and closing the bifold shower door. Also the radiator was rusty and could have done with a coat of paint. Otherwise 👌
Stayed for 3 nights and we couldn't fault it. The location was fantastic, the staff were really happy and friendly and the food was brilliant.
Nothing, we loved everything about our stay
Very cheerful, helpful and efficient staff in a relaxed atmosphere. Excellent evening dinner and hearty breakfast. An annual stop-over for a Giffords Circus visit but more like a short holiday.
All good
The room was nice, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was tasty with plenty of choice and the member of staff serving was very friendly. It has a picturesque location and ample parking.
It was abit confusing about where to check in on arrival as there was no signage or reception so to speak, we needed to check in at the bar. This wasn’t a problem as such but it was busy when we arrived so not completely straightforward.
Nice busy ambience Lovely staff Breakfast! V good price Situation interesting and close to beautiful area
Food a little pricey but offset by B&B cost
It was very hearty.
Some of the bathroom fittings are dated.
Breakfast was very good lots of choices. We had an evening meal which again was beautiful. Location was beautiful with views to die for.
The room which we stayed in (room 4) was very dusty around the bed frame area, and the chairs were stained. Also the shower needs an upgrade along with the roller blind, which did not roll.
Comfortable bed and very peaceful considering it's a very busy pub as well. The staff were extremely accommodating. The vegan food was excellent. The visiting cows and horses were an extra delight.
Bathroom could do with some TLC.
Beautiful building in the most spectacular setting. Staff were so helpful and the food was delicious! Highly recommend and we will be back
Nothing
Very good breakfast. Lovely location.
Beautiful setting, lovely quirky interior, staff very helpful and friendly, bed very comfy, breakfast first class!!! Will definitely return here but for longer than the one night we stayed for a nearby wedding!
Nothing, couldn’t fault it!!
Pub was oké en gezellig. Eten was prima.
Jacob was very accommodating and professional and for breakfast Gokce was serveds us breakfast with warm smile!
Easy car parking and access to property. Great location and picturesque surroundings, excellent customer service and attentive staff with table service for food and drinks orders. Nice big garden, with lots of seating areas in shade or sunshine for choice. Evening meal food and drinks were good and reasonably priced. Breakfast was excellent and overall stay was very good value for money.
Bed was a little too soft for us and bathroom was cramped, but this was adequate for a our 1 nigh stay.
The staff were all amazing. Really friendly. Looked after us all the stay. We had 9 for dinner and they looked after us great. And then just the 2 of us for dinner and they still treated us amazingly.
Etwas kleine, enge Zimmer
The location was amazing really in the middle of nowhere the common it’s on is massive and this place is right in the middle. Breakfast was good and the price was also great we stayed two nights with breakfast £198 very good.
The bed was very hard to the point mum wife’s bad back was made worst. I would definitely take our mattress top when we go again.
Friendly atmosphere with good food and good value for money
There wasn’t anything to dislike
Nice location, lovely old building, staff very good. Nice touch to have notice of where the bathroom marble came from. Cost of rooms reasonable.
Room furnishings are tired. Radiators in both bathrooms were rusty and corroded. Some blackened grout in bathrooms. No plug socket by mirror. But then there never is. Dinner was expensive.
Breakfast and location
Shower head broken, food too expensive, builders working just outside bedroom and bathroom windows
Dinner followed by breakfast
Really friendly staff great food for evening meal and breakfast and stunning location. Will definitely stay again when we are in the area next
Nothing really
Restaurant meal excellent
Building materials outside the window couldn't be helped as obviously renovating going on but would have been nice to have a better view
Staff very friendly. Breakfast very good. vista impressive
bit out of the way so need to drive. rooms quite small as was shower
Great location and nice pub
Tiny bathroom and soft bed
Arrived and greeted in a friendly manner. shown to our room by a lovely young man, very polite.
Bedroom was on a slope, flooring uneven, bed on a slope. Cups in room dirty, radiator had flakey paint coming off and looked awful. bathroom tiny. Breakfast - awful - some of food was cold, mushrooms burnt that badly I thought it was black pudding.
Excellent stay as usual
Nothing
The staff were so pleasant and welcoming, loved the old building and wonky walls. Breakfast was lovely would definitely recommend
Im a little fussy on pillows and beds, pillows were to soft for me and my partner but we managed. Have had worse. Could have done with a fan or air con of some sort with the heat we've recently had but wasnt overly essential. Really just me and picky bits.
The views are beautiful, the staff were amazing also
My eggs were abit under cooked and no fridge in room
Great location. My dinner was pretty good.
The view of the large expanse of roof from my window wasn’t lovely.
Location is amazing staff are welcoming and friendly and there’s cows outside
Lovely heritage building with modern facilities.
Parking can be difficult as golfers use a lot of places.
The staff were all very friendly. The food was good, especially the cooked breakfast. The location is fantastic in the middle of Michinhampton Common. The double room was quite small but we had everything we needed and the bed was comfortable. We will book again.
Staff fantastic , food fantastic especially the scotch egg. Breakfast excellent loads of choice. Cooked to order. Excellent beer garden.
Beautiful building, Beautiful setting, friendly helpful staff. Generous, great value food and the room was quaint and comfortable.
It's a country inn so not too many bells or whistles, but none were expected.
Stunning location and service was excellent
Great location, and clean room, friendly staff
Nothing
Breakfast full English one of the nicest I have ever had, nicely presented and very tasty
Bed was a bit uncomfortable and was not up to current hotel standards.
The hotel is in a rambling stone mansion on the crown of a vast common where cows roam free. The restaurant has the usual UK pub-food menu, the food is quite well prepared, and the cooked breakfasts are good. Dogs are welcome and parking is easy.
Nothing in particular.
Lovely building Friendly staff Great location
Nothing
The Old Lodge was clean and comfortable, the staff were brilliant, the food was very good.
The only minor criticism, the room would have benefited from longer dressing table, there was only enough space for the tea and coffee facilities.
The staff in the Old Lodge were excellent, the service fantastic, the rooms are beautiful and the setting is stunning
The idea of staying on the common The meal at tea time was lovely, The staff was friendly. The manager did a partial refund on our complaint the next day.
Our room. It was very unpleasant. The room was up about 3. Sets of tight stairs. The faculties didn’t work eg tv. The shower head was broken. The bathroom was tiny. No fan. The bar was expensive when we asked for a Margarita they gave us a sickly syrup one, we ended up leaving it
Everything worked so well.
It was all fine.
The location and setting were lovely
Mostly the staff. During checkin, breakfast and even checkout they were talking amongst themselves and not taking any interest in us as guests. Our toilet seat and shower head in our room were broken.
The staff were all very welcoming, polite and friendly, the food in the restaurant in the evening was very good and the beers were also good. The lounge bar area was comfortable for relaxing in, and the bed was comfortable. There was plenty of off-road parking around the hotel.
The parking areas were potholed and muddy, whilst commonland cows roamed between the cars twice a day, though they did not have horns, so no damage done. Some of the furniture in the bedroom was old and well-used, and the joints on one of the chairs were loose, making the chair wobbly. We thought the restaurant prices were a little high, and there was no offer of cereal, fresh fruit or croissants etc for breakfast.
Old property charm
Nothing, it was lovely
Lovely peaceful location on the common Very good Sunday roast and breakfast Excellent value for money
The location was nice. The food was very good.
The room was tired overall but was clean. The whole place could do with an update and makeover.
We’ve been several time before and it’s very well positioned for our needs. The staff are extremely pleasant and the food in the restaurant is pretty good.
Having gone for a superior room we had high hopes that it would be better than the standard room, however our room (no 1) was very tired - with scuffed paintwork and blown glass in the windows contributing to a rather scruffy appearance. The bathroom was particularly tired. That said, we get it - the hospitality industry is up against it these days and many establishments simply can’t justify sky-high refurbishment costs.
Perfekt beliggenhet for utflukter Cotswold. Betjeningen på The Old Lodge var helt fantastisk.
Nulla
A magnificent setting, an idyllic location. The hotel is full of charm, both in the communal areas and the rooms. The garden is a great space, where the locals gather to socialise: a brilliant atmosphere! The staff deserve top marks; they were very attentive and always on hand to look after our needs. The food is also excellent, with a wide variety of perfectly cooked dishes. And the breakfast was absolutely brilliant! A stay we’d love to repeat.
Perhaps, the technological aspect regarding phone chargers should be improved.
Wonderful staff really good food and a fantastic location in beautiful country side but only 20 minutes from the M5
Nothing
Location
All of it scored down slightly as the weather was so hot it did affect the comfort of the rooms. However you don’t often get temperatures over 30 Degrees C!
Very little
An absolute gem on the common – we will definitely be back! What an excellent find! The Old Lodge is a lovely 6-room bed and breakfast right on the common, set in the old golf clubhouse. The views are fantastic, complete with cows roaming around and an on-site golf course. The staff here are great—welcoming, friendly, super helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in Room 2 (a double room), which was perfect. It featured a lovely, comfy bed, great lighting, and complimentary tea and coffee. The bathroom was clean and tidy with a nice hot shower and great views across the common and golf course. We also had an evening meal here, and the food was absolutely amazing—the steak was cooked to perfection. Breakfast offered a great choice of dishes alongside tea, coffee, and fruit juices. We loved sitting in the beautiful beer garden, surrounded by lovely flowers and pergolas; it has a great atmosphere. Thank you for a lovely stay. We will definitely be back!
nothing.
Clean comfortable room. Excellent breakfast
We have stayed here many times, it is our go to place for a relaxing stay with lovely food and always a warm welcome. The location is stunning with lots of lovely walks for us and our dog.
Clean stunning surroundings friendly staff tasty meal
Nothing not to like
Location on the Common. Views. Good breakfast.
Bed rather hard. Room a bit quirky - appreciate it’s a very old building. Had to wait 30 minutes for our breakfast. No explanation or apology. Think they must have been short staffed in kitchen. However when it finally arrived it was a very good breakfast.
The food, the staff and the venue
The young lady that showed me to my room and was also helping in the restaurant made me feel very welcome. Breakfast was very nice. Lovely location and very quiet after pub hours. Food was exceptional.
The noise from the pub restaurant downstairs could be a problem if you wanted an early night but it was Saturday.
