The room we stayed in was lovely light airy and very clean to a high standard. Mike was very chirpy and welcoming and told us the quickest way to find the beachfront. Pretty much left us to ourselves which was nice. Would definitely recommend and will be back for sure.

Very friendly - ideal visit to Weymouth

No breakfast as expected. Room furniture was dated but room was large,clean and comfortable. Bed was uncomfortable for myself but that is a personal thing as husband found it fine. Plenty of hot water and a huge bathroom and unlike some places we have stayed had plenty of storage ,shelves and hanging places for everything. Lovely and quiet at night. Thank you Mike for a lovely stay.

Thought the outside and reception could do with some work as it lets the place down a tad. Looks like it is in the process of being decorated and understand this is takes time. Found T.V a little small for the size of room,had trouble reading the screen. Did not spoil our stay though.

Mike is a very friendly host, he listens , I travelled by train , he was around when I arrived. He showed me around my room and carried one of my suitcases to my room. The room was ideal for me with ensuite ,very clean and tidy.

You have to book well in advance otherwise you miss out. Which means he is a great host.

Got a cancellation, King double room for a great price, I like the location, being out of the way, but close enough for my visited areas, including Greenhill Gardens, Pebble beach etc. Easy Parking available & included in price, very friendly staff, Room was spot on

Im Zimmer gab es eine kleine Küchenzeile, so dass wir uns Kaffee und Tee kochen konnten. Das Zimmer war relativ groß.

Das Bad unseres Zimmers war über den Flur erreichbar. Es gab keinen Kühlschrank in der Küchenzeile.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, it was a great base for us. The location was great, not far from the seafront, about 10 minutes walk. It had good off-road parking. Tea and coffee making in the room along with a hairdryer which pleased my partner. Friendly knowledgeable host who pointed out local amenities. The room was spacious and very comfortable indeed.

My only gripe is that from experience I bring my own branded coffee. The tea was great by the way.

We booked room only. The room was very comfortable and clean , very nice bathroom, tea and coffee replenished daily with clean cups daily, room checked and cleaned daily if needed. We enjoyed a very pleasant stay.Mike the host was very pleasant and helpful and obliging with excellent knowledge of where to eat and visit during our stay.

There are a couple of steps leading up to the entrance of The Harlequin fine for anyone without a mobility need. A handrail would make a real difference to anyone needing a bit more support when climbing the steps.

Very clean with parking about 1 mile from the harbour, easy check in and can check in from 11am which is unheard of.

The location is excellent. Both SeaLife and the beach are within easy walking distance, so there’s no need to worry about parking. We stayed for two nights and couldn’t fault it.

The toilet is in a separate room, but it wasn’t an issue for us, as there’s a basin in the room.

The room was clean & tidy.

I was in a sleep deprivation room. The curtain rails on the windows were too short, so the paper thin curtains didn't stop any light in a west facing room. The room opposite had a separate bathroom so I was woken every time people got up during the night. I spent the week at night in a sleep mask & earplugs.

It was close to the sea front and shops and there was parking

The rooms are very comfortable and well maintained

Bathroom in need of refurb. Didn't like the fact that if you took your car may not be able to park outside property as not enough spaces for all rooms.

Although the advert for the Harlequin was bed and breakfast apparently they no longer serve breakfast. So this comment should really be in the box below, could have been better.

Lovely welcome. Room gr8. Nice touch separate bathroom view of garden. Also could buy local biscuits and toothpaste etc v handy.

Spacious room (esp. for a single person), daily cleaning, self service cookie shop, good price, close to the railway station.

Water dripping in the toilet canister making noise, especially as the owner was aware of it but downplayed it. Such issues should be immediately fixed as they can get bothersome. I didn't complain as I was staying just for two nights and mainly outdoors.

Poor water pressure in shower: it even stopped completely a couple of times which is frustrating when you are all soaped up. No breakfast available

Not their fault that there was a heatwave! But if a fan could be provided in the rooms as the top floor was toasty- which is ideal any other time of the year. Honestly lovely stay.

I booked room only as there is no breakfast served at the hotel anymore . The room was on the first floor and was very clean and more spacious than i expected. The bed was comfortable and plenty of drawers and wardrobe space. The hosts were really friendly and even helped me carry some of my luggage up the stairs on arrival. The parking was great usually there too close together but the spaces are quite generous for 4 cars as long as people are considerate and dont take 2 spaces up. The location is lovely and quiet and a pleasant walk to the harbour and town of about 25 mins,

Maybe a fan in the room would have been helpful as it was around 40C on the day of arrival and 36-38C the other days but thats not the normal temperature for the time of year, To be fair i did not ask and maybe there was on available.

Il y a 3 lits dans la chambre du coup il n'y a pas de place pour une (petite) table et des chaises, il n'y a pas de salle commune non plus pour s'asseoir.

The outside was scruffy broken steps leading to entrance door The room was mix match furniture very outdated the shower/toilet could do with a make over was grubby/dirty looking the towels were stiff as a board some softener when washing wouldn’t go a miss the bedding was old & faded

Great location with easy access to the beach, town centre and public transport. A spacious room with en-suite facilities, with usual home comforts (wardrobe, desk, tv, WiFi etc) Hot drinks supplies as well. Bed was confortable and the room was a good temperature.

Mike was friendly and knowledgeable, gave us great tips on where to go( sightseeing, walks, where to eat). Place was clean, had all the essentials, tea coffee, milk and toiletries.

Das Bett ist extrem weich. Im obersten Stock war offensichtlich ein Zimmer mit Toilette/Bad über den Flur, sodass die ganze Nacht die Türen geschlagen wurden.

Set just outside main area so lovely and peaceful only a short walk to beach . A ,shop, chemist ,cafe and pub just a stones throw away . Mike the owner of harlequin met us on our arrival, very pleasant and ihelpful.lovely big clean room with comfy bed . Kettle, and tea coffee milk sugar plentiful. Will definitely return. The shower did not drain well AT ALL, and the shower head wouldn't adjust;, just pointing to the wall.

Tea/coffee facilities in room

The front door was locked on arrival at the exact check in time arranged (as requested) with the host, although the windows to Room 3 were wide open in the wind. Not only was there no reply to my ringing the two front door bells numerous times, there was no answer to the host's two phone numbers (I left voicemails), nor reply to email, text or message on Booking.com - for the 20 minutes or so when I was standing outside the locked front door. Eventually, unsuccessful in gaining entry, I left to continue my day riding out on my motorbike, with all my luggage. 3 hours later, I received a text message from the host giving a key safe code number. Later, on entry, the house smelt strongly of fresh gloss paint (door fittings still taped over). The room smelt unpleasantly 'stale'. When being shown to Room 3, the host 'explained' the noise of the toilet macerater - source of the bad smell? *No parking at night for my motorbike*, despite advertised as 'FREE private parking'. There were four cars parked and absolutely no 'private' parking space for my motorbike, except on the uneven, cambered street (cars parked half on pavements), in a slightly unsavoury area at night. I didn't stay the night in the smelly room, but rode home that night. PS. Right of Reply to host's comments below: First time ever on arriving at a Booking.com property - or any - to be left outside locked out, let alone all attempts to contact the host being ignored for 3 hours, or a bad smell in the room. Check in time (attempted!) was during the stated check in times of the Harlequin Guest House - and agreed beforehand, but like the 'FREE parking' these advertised times are a myth. Refund request and this honest bad review as per Booking.com policy.

Bathroom in room was not very private (frosted glass pane in door) and shower seemed to run out of hot water and was cool some of the time.

I’m a solo traveler but like a decent sized room with a double bed at a decent price. The property was all of those things and it’s in a great location.

it’s was clean, beds were comfortable, it was very close to the beach, the owner was welcoming and helpful.

tv was rubbish, place was very basic, no microwave, or anything to store food, cold things like milk. A small mini fridge would of been good to have.

Sounded like the adjoining room was being redecorated most of the night! Didn't get much sleep with all the banging and scraping!

We stayed here with a family of 4 for a total of 3 nights in the family room upstairs. Communication upfront was very clear. We could park the car in front of the building. Appartment was about 5 minutes walk from the sea and 20 minutes to town centre. All perfect for us.

Our stay was as expected. If you stay for a longer period with kids aged 10 and 12, you might want to look for a little more spacious appartment, but for us this was ok. We were away from the appartment a lot, had breakfast and dinner in town, and used the beds and the room mainly for some relaxing and sleeping.

Lovely guest house in a great location for exploring the jurassic Coast. Had everything you need and parking was no problem. WiFi excellent as was the communication from the host prior and on arrival. Would recommend staying here.

Mike was a very friendly host who showed us to our room and explained about the en suite bathroom macerator (in case we were alarmed at the noise). He was a very polite host and made us feel welcome. The room was large and spacious. Very beautifully decorated, looked very clean, fresh and tidy and with coffee/tea making facilities. Bathroom was spacious and the shower was lovely - great temperature and pressure and large cubicle. Good TV and WiFi reception and we were only a couple of minutes walk from the seafront. Parking was easy and as we had a blue badge we were guaranteed a reserved space. The noise was minimal and we had a lovely night's sleep both nights on the very comfortable bed.. Cannot fault this room or property.
