Very disappointed with the breakfast. Cooked breakfast did not include baked beans. The bacon and sausages were undercooked. They could not provide any non-dairy milk or "butter" at all (for cereals, tea and toast). Also, no non-dairy yoghurts provided. Very expensive for what we did actually have.
Lovely village setting, warm welcome, great service, cleanliness everywhere very good, food lovely and great choice
Lovely traditional pub, wonderful atmosphere everything clean and great attention to detail. Room quite sweet. Lost our food order for dinner which led to an hour's delay. Were apologetic. Despite this would happily return,
Very nice.
As our family live in different parts of the country we try to meet up once a year. We chose a ‘gem of a place’ with The Helyar Arms! Fabulous atmosphere/ ambience. The staff were so kind and friendly and our accommodation was clean, nicely decorated and very comfortable. Such a pretty place with an abundance of brightly coloured hanging baskets and a beautiful ‘secret’ garden to the rear of the hotel with ample seating. An excellent place to stay👍
The room although it was a large double had no seating to relax in your own space. There was an annoying step that encroached the room. The pub was very beautifull set within a beautiful village.
Easy to find, lovely and clean and felt very safe. Lovely garden too. Staff were so lovely and helpful when my 3 year old wasn’t very well.
Convenient location
Could do with redecoration and general tidy up in bedrooms
We stay here a lot as the pub is an absolute delight. Everyone is very welcoming, the food is delicious, and the rooms delightful. Great place to stay when visiting the area.
Lovely staff, including helpful landlord. Very nice evening meal. Room very comfortable and well equipped.
Breakfast was an enjoyable full English and at a reasonable price. The evening meal was from a menu with broad options and enjoyed in a classic pub bar -dinning room..
Lovely breakfast , cooked perfectly very nice staff ,

Beautiful pub, great service and a beautiful village. Would highly recommend
Overall experience was excellent
Splendid garden
A little artwork in the room
We love this pub! We also love the food and the friendly welcome.
The mattress was a bit uncomfortable for us.
Booking was easy, the staff were courteous, the room was comfortable, cosy, clean and quiet. The pub is is a picture postcard setting, and we wouldn't hesitate to use it again. The breakfast was expertly cooked and went down a treat, as did the cider the prior evening :)

Welcoming, Pleasant dining room, very clean, good food, beautiful garden
East coker is a lovely location and an ideal base. Parking good.
Bar staff a little unwelcoming at dinner time but clearly under pressure on a busy night.
We didn't have breakfast. The location was really good & particularly enjoyed the inns garden.
Pillows weren't good. There was no substance, firmness at all.
This is a great little country inn located at the heart of a sublimely beautiful village. The food is exceptionally good (both in quality and value), and the staff very friendly and a credit to the place. Sure, a few minor maintenance and decorating issues could be addressed, but I would not want to overstate their importance. I would definitely stay again and probably will.

Pillows too fat. Had a cricked neck
Good to be charged only for cereals which were nicely served but then charged £4 per cup of not very nice coffee
Room very cramped kettle high on shelf dangerous
Beautiful location and lovely old building: excellent food …

Very friendly staff. Made to feel very welcome. Evening meal was very good quality food and very reasonably priced. Great to have bottled water in the room.
Mattress was not as comfortable as I would have liked.
Great, professional service, welcoming and as expected. Food was excellent with varied choice rom was quirky as old building, bedding soft, bathroom ideal for us. Dogs were welcomed and place was very busy yet we were looked after well. Could walk dogs and had front door key. Generally quiet village...could see the stars as no light pollution.
Some smokers out front in the night (02:40) and a little noise as they went to bed, (water pump to bathrooms?), then the church bells chimed at 3a.m! Didn't hear anything after that until 6 (our dogs) and a very distant cock crowing. Lovely sounds of real life and the countryside, so had some charm about it. Definitely nothing to complain about.
Full of character, great food, helpful staff and it’s dog friendly.
Lovely place! Easy to find. Nice parking.Dog friendly. Even live music some evenings in the pub v
I had an excellent night's sleep in a comfy bed, it was very quiet and peaceful
It was a very basic room, but had everything i needed for an overnight pit stop, I'd stay again
Great tradutional.pub atmosphere, good food, really helpful & friendly staff, good value. Woukd definitely stay again & and would recommend.
Bathroom really needs updating & and the water pressure in the shower is really poor.
Warm and comfortable and an amazing breakfast. Everyone was very friendly. We will be back.
Tradition but modern pub hotel
Creaky floorboards but part of the character for old building Breakfast additional at fixed rate .
Dinner although a reduced Sunday night menu was enjoyable, our room was very clean, comfortable and warm, breakfast was a treat, really enjoyed it. The staff were very attentive and helpful, but always gave you the privacy and space you needed. The safe, free parking was also a great bonus
The hotel offered all we needed and more, we loved it.
Character and charm . The staff were amazing even gave us a lift when we couldn’t get a taxi !

Food was very good and room warm and comfortable. Lovely village setting and everyone very friendly.
En suite bathroom was poor. Electric shower unpredictable and toilet difficult to flush.
Fully committed to deal with our needs in a professional and helpful way. Very impressed as always as we tend to visit there each year around this time
Great place, nice staff. Friendly warm atmosphere. A typical local pub that is open to everyone. Check in was quick and the staff were keen to answer any questions you had

Comfortable bed and amazing pillows. Politeness of staff. Pub atmosphere. Big towels
Weak shower. Creaky bathroom floorboards.

Beautiful pub, good food and extremely helpful and friendly staff.

Staff, very freindly and went above and beyond to please. Breakfast was out standing. Evening meals were exceptional, and worth the money, big shout out to the chef, amazing menu. Will be highly recommending this place to family and freinds. Doing everything right, keep up the good work, well done to the entire staff, and The Boss and Boss Lady...😎👍😂
Good location, friendly bar with good choice of food options. Plenty of parking.
Bathroom poor. Electric shower weak & little temperature control
A very quiet location and staff were accommodating
No alternative vegetarian cooked breakfast
Breakfast was very nice. Bit thrown that the eggs for the English breakfast come on a plate on their own, and then the rest, bacon, sausages, mushrooms, etc come separately, but it's a nice way of doing it.
Can't think of anything.

All perfect
Lovely old building in a beautiful location
The decor of the room is very dated. Was three of us staying in the family room and we only were provided with two towels and two bottles of water. Hot drink selection very poor. Bad drain like smell in the bathroom. Paid extra for breakfast and the choice is very limited. Sausage was inedible and the two juices that were on offer had gone off. Both had that fizzy taste.

Nice property, nice breakfast😊
The staff were all very helpful and the food was excellent. The garden was beautifully kept, unfortunately the weather wasn't good so we weren't able to make use of it. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable.
It would have been nice to have had some chairs in our room and a table for the kettle instead of the shelf. The window did not open and although the weather was cool we like to have fresh air at night.
The food was very good and there was a good choice, the staff were friendly and very helpful
I couldn't fault anything
Nice hotel for East Coker village

Dog friendly with good space in the twin room
The small double was not spacious but the twin room was perfect
What a pretty pub. When we arrived all staff lovely and helpful. after a change cmw down for deinks and was so dog friendly. We didnt eat as eaten before arrived but it was well attended sonwould come back another time. Bed comfy, weren't affected by the pub re sound. Lovely and cosy.
Food at the restaurant was good, quaint and good location
Bed mattress was super soft and lumpy, and there was a smell in the room
The breakfast was excellent, the staff were delightful and the dinner was very good value
We stayed at the venue with our daughter with her family and used it as a base for visiting my mother in law in Sherborne and a cousin of mine who lives at Burton Bradstock. It was very easy to visit both on different days. The room was adequate for our needs and the food and beer were excellent. My only concern was that there were only Pizzas as a choice for the Saturday evening meal, a typical pub meal would have been good as well, such as a meat pie and chips. Breakfast was well catered for, with a spread for everyone ton take what they liked from. We are planning to come and stay again next year to visit the same relations again, we just need to finalise the details nearer the time.
Parking allocation for those staying, as against just visiting for a drink or meal.
