Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff very friendly and accommodating.
Having to pay for car park and no lunches available.
The staff was excellent. The place was really nice
Literally, I like everything.
The location is nice and can be used to get within 10min to the beach. The staff was nice and did its best. It was clean in general. The bistro delivered solid food, I would say worth its price.
The facility is a bit old as well as the bath en suite, even though the rooms seemed to be regularly updated. It was easy to hear the room neighbors in all directions.
great location fantastic room lay out
bathroom was poor needs renovating and the prices behind the bar are crazy .
Breakfast was Brilliant.
Good
Service was superb - reception went above and beyond to help which was super appreciated💫 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ❤️💛💚
I'd prefer a separate shower not a stand in bath version but no problems
Beautiful sea view, clean well looked after room, delicious breakfasts and wonderful staff.
Its a little far from the main part of Newquay, but easy to accsess via car, public transport or lovely scenic walks
Service was superb went above and beyond to help which was super appreciated ❤️💛💚
I like a separate shower not a stand in bath version
Customer service. Food. Bed. Location.
Bit dated.
Loved the staff, the location, excellent restaurant, cleanliness!
Well appointed room with clean new furnishings.
The sea view was great but the view of the dirty flat roof in front of our first floor room wasn’t so good.
Beds were nice and big
There are cracks in the ceiling where someone has painted over it
Location, view, staff, breakfast
I asked for a room with a bath because I couldn’t shower due to an injury and was told I couldn’t have one
The staff were very friendly and helpful. There was a friendly atmosphere. Problems were dealt with promptly. The swimming pool was lovely. The location was good, near the high st. The bistro food was delicious.
The breakfast was abit mean (cooked breakfast). The water was excessively hot so you had to be careful. There was a warning notice. The bedroom door was so so fierce (fire door) I could barely open/close it though I understand it's a fire door so it was necessary.
Bed, food
The fact you rates they charge, then charge extra for parking. That should come in room price. Understand charging for people who come just for food. But to put extra on to price of room is wrong
Location
Additional charges, was told we needed to book a reservation for dinner so ordered im instead. Had to lean my arm out the window to clean it to see out
Guter Service, tolles Schwimmbad. Ales da, was man nach einer langen Wanderung braucht. Ruhiges Hotel. Der Charme des schon etwas in die Jahre gekommenen Hotels.
Kleines Zimmer, sehr kleines Badezimmer. Fenster hat geklemmt, konnte kaum geöffnet werden.
Location
Friendly staff, comfortable room. Good location for visiting Newquay.
Bathroom could have been cleaner. More signage in the hotel eg to the lifts and the swimming pool.
Pirce
I didn’t - this hotel was an absolute disgrace and I have an ongoing complaint with them.
It was dirty and affected my asthma, food was inedible, staff were unfriendly, room not serviced. This is not a hotel.
The swimming pool was amazing,I had it all to myself!! Was beautiful, layed there and read my book, went for a swim, chilled and relaxed… lovely warm pool area, single bed rooms are a lovely size, not a box room!! Plenty of room
Nothing at all, apart from being right next to the lift doors!! As a solo person, woke me up quite a bit
I like that we were welcomed well, at first we were scared getting to the city and not seeing black but when we got to the hotel, the staff welcomed us well and help us with informations. We felt relieved
I was expecting the room to be facing the sea side
very good
paying for car park must loose many customers over that charges
Friendly staff. Nice pool (but why is there carpet surrounding the pool?!)
Very dated. Everything felt dirty. Mugs were unclean in the room. All the walls in the room were marked & stained. Lots of water marks on the ceiling. Really noisy hotel - you can hear everything from the rooms next to you and above you. Really disappointing for the money spent. Wouldn’t return unless it was updated (which it desperately needs). The website and photos are very misleading as to the actual standard of the hotel.
Beautiful location in a quieter area of Newquay. Hotel was clean & tidy. Friendly and helpful staff.
Hotel is a little dated
Location and staff
Rooms very dated and expensive for the quality received
superb view. Amazing breakfast. Excellent. Nice bar too.
Great location, friendly staff, traditional but generous breakfast
Nothing to not like
The breakfast was lovely, but the teabags were awful and there wasn't coffee from a machine (only filtered coffee). Staff were kind but we did get told off once for having the kids run around in an empty lobby, shortly after our arrival which didn't feel very welcoming.
The bedroom was terrible. It was HOT, and the fan wasn't powerful at all. The toilet didnt have a lock, so you can imagine with 2 young children, there was absolutely no privacy! We got a family room, to accommodate 2 adults and a child and a cot. The room was such a squeeze. The room looked like a standard double with extra beds squeezed in. That's all well and good if you're there for a few nights but we were there for a week and it was suffocating. It was almost £200 a night so would have hoped for a larger room. There was also dog hair sticking to our clothes from the carpet.
We stayed here for a Birthday and was really disappointed . We felt confident looking at the website that the hotel that it would be nice but it was far from it ! The first impression was that it felt like a Nursing Home. The cleaners equipment blocked up the corridor and reception area . We paid nearly £400 for 2 nights without breakfast and it was so not worth it . Our shower was not working we reported it and the problem was not resolved during our stay! We did not eat at the restaurant as a member of Staff was unwelcoming and abrupt so we left and went elsewhere. I would not recommend staying here and wish we stayed at another Hotel .
The staff were lovely, nice bar area and a good breakfast
The only thing I didn't like was the lack of decent coffee, especially at breakfast. No filter coffee, just individual sachets.
The location
The room was dirty , and £15 pounds a night for a small dog is ridiculous
Spacious
Nothing
I was disappointed with my stay. The shower mixer tap was broken, and although I reported the problem, nothing was done to fix it. The room was not clean, and there was no air conditioning or even a fan, which made it very uncomfortable. The breakfast was also poor and offered very little choice.
I really liked the town and the beautiful beaches. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the hotel.I would not recommend this hotel.
Location is excellent
Room not good value
It’s was clean and close to Newquay but not so close you near all the nightlife
I was away for my 50th birthday for a relaxing break with friends was woken in the morning with no prior warning that there was going to working outside my door at 8 in the morning I’m local and am up for work at 5.30 everyday I don’t expect to be woken up. The receptionist was very flippant and seemed like she didn’t care less
The breakfast area even uf was with payment 13 £ pp , was amazing, has many choises
Many things i didn t like, wasn t clean properly, very old style, the parking was with payment per night 10£ ,the pool area wasnt very bad but still they need to do some renovations
Breakfast was fabulous, a really excellent cooked full english breakfast - good quality items with eggs cooked as you want them. Together with toast, pastries, continental items. Superb.
Not a lot, very nice bar etc.
Not much. Bedding clean and linen good quality.
Curtains too thin, shower gel dispenser broken, too much light coming through from the corridor, paper-thin walls, dated decor in shared spaces, cheap low-effort coffee facilities in the room, very overpriced for what you get, No fan in the room, no AC (obviously), noisy seagulls on roof outside window - hardly their fault but worth you knowing 1st floor isn’t great as enormous flat roof adjacent
The hotel was super great, lovely staff nice and respectful. Breakfast was super good, nice and quick service. The rooms were nice we had a view over the car park, tea coffee was lovely and a wide range of foods to try. I have been there from Saturday the 15th to Sunday the 23 august and it was nice a peaceful. Definitely going back here again
That we was woken up by workman next door to our room for maintenance which was not great and we was not warned about this or compensated.
the room was comfy, the bathroom needs a bit of refresh but it was fine, hotel in general was very clean and nice staff, good facilities, overall it was good and about right for the price I paid
the continental breakfast selection wa snot great, more fresh fruit please and better coffee. parking was ok but you had to pay £10 per day and no guarantee of a space, I managed to have one but I would not of been refunded if I had not found a space.
Helpful staff. Decent pool
You need a car to easily get to and from this property. We did not have a car. Rooms were clean and decent size but the hotel looks tired. V noisy seagulls in the morning! Long wait in the bistro for average food.
Breakfast and swimming pool were great. Room had all that needed.
Had to pay extra for parking if through booking.com. Hotel was very expensive felt for what it is but then it was Cornwall in peak time so probably not unique to this hotel. Is a bit of a walk to the town but very manageable still.
Die Lage zum Meer
Der altertümliche Zustand des Hotels, das unfreundliche Personal, Kakao für Kinder zum Frühstück musste man extra zahlen
Friendly staff, quiet room, good breakfast and dinner options, excellent location.
External area's looking a bit tired
Grim £185 on a Wednesday plus the £10 to park Tepid breakfast
Location was good, lovely views
The parking and having to pay £10 a day
I stopped here for my mum's 90th birthday celebrations in the centre of Newquay
I have stayed in exactly the same room before and so fixtures were in need of repair, although they still work
The location was lovely and we had a lovely view from the room!
The staff was not the friendliest and the room wasn’t really clean. The hotel is really old and should undertake some renovations. The floor was not straight at all.
The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly.
The room was cramped and unattractive, very cheap furniture and bathroom. Very hot in the room, can't open the windows, no fan available.
Great location and staff were friendly and helpful
Very very dated and some major upgrades needed especially in the price range being charged. Breakfast was ok but again very basic as coffee just in flasks to dispense minimum standards nowadays is a fresh coffee from a machine.
Staff were very kind and professional receptionist And breakfast was fantastic and very professional
N/A
Staff friendly
Rooms dated
My sympathy is with the staff Imagine having to defend this place on a daily basis Imagine with all that Newquay has to offer and you land in this 70’s throw back shack of a hotel
Grubby unloved. Dirty duvet Noisy Sink completely blocked Inch gap under the door illuminating room all night Windows not working properly The cheek to charge a tenner a day for parking but not guarentee it if you move your car.
This was the first time taking my eleven year old Son to Newquay on holiday. Being a single parent and helping with our leisure interests I was looking for somewhere close to Fistral Beach. Walking into town was a little far for us so we choose to drive down, however, it is doable if that's your thing plus there is a bus thst stops outside. Just ask reception about it. The atmosphere at the hotel was varied but the Staff was so friendly welcoming, I could not fault it. The young lady on reception (brown curly/wavy hair) Sorry forgot your name, (me bad). Her customer service skills was fab with such a friendly vibe which is what cornwall is all about. Accommodation was lovely in general, ok there was a few bits of maintenance/repairs which could be looked at out of season but hey thats just me being picky. We slept like logs every night 🌙 The have a nice clean swimming pool. The poolside and water was so warm it was like being in a tropical rain forest. Breakfast was ok and had a good selection. On offer was a help yourself buffet style and within a short while staff was round asking for anything you would liked cooked off the menu. Staff also lovely. Price? Well I think is was good value but next time I stay (Yes there will be a next time) I will probably book direct to take advantage of their free parking as when I booked my accomadation via Booking.com, unfortunately parking was £10 per day. There was some free on street parking spaces along pentire but being peak season you cannot guarantee you'll find one. Overall - good experience, lovely hotel, perfect views = Lovely holiday ( wish we could have stayed a bit longer) If you can accept its a little way from the Newquay Town and its shops but only a few hundred yards down a hill to Fistral beach then it is perfect.
Loved the lovely staff, the pool and the games tables they had. Great view of fistral from our room and comfortable and clean.
Nothing to dislike really, being picky now but was quite far into Pentire, so taxi's were necessary unless you're ok with a half hour walk in (,which would have been fine if not for the heat).
Great location, with great amenities
Some parts need a little updating and modernising but isn’t a problem at all n
Great facilities, very relaxed atmosphere. The staff were absolutely lovely.
Price good and location
Room was to hot. Need fans in summer. Bed very soft.
I loved the location location location. It was perfect for what we wanted.
The £10 per day on site parking. Unfortunately I didn't book direct with the hotel. (I booked via Booking.com)to take advantage of their free parking. Managed to find a few on street parking spaces but it was a bit of a chore at times. Just note: spaces are on a first come basis. This was clearly stated when my booking confirmation was received. Otherwise it was perfect. Breakfast was good and staff very present and helpful. I will be returning
The food was great along with the amenities
The rooms were out of date no air conditioner blocked showeres, hot and cold showers,
Location is a little far out but we had amazing views over fistral from our room! Rooms are clean, and comfortable. Lovely atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. Great value for money, my teenage son had a great time in the pool and playing table tennis and pool.
Good breakfast. Kippers for me. 😀. We stayed in a budget room, but it was excellent. Very clean, comfortable and quiet.
All good - thank you.
Location
Baloo/ blue and Martin both where absolutely amazing also the gent who offered to help get my bags from the car on the first night never got you name but blue you made my trip amazing and our celebration to 18 years together amazing all 1.5 dogs, and if you lucky enough to be a smoker and pop down during the night your meet Martian and maybe get let in on a few local secrets thank you so so much and we hope to see you all again even the tho young girls on during the day that have us proper knife’s and forks coz I’m that diva with the pink hair thank you all 💚💜
Everything my self partner and two chihuahua have the best little mini break and our next is being booked to come back and if you a horse rider reen manor stables absolutely doggy doo dars
We have stayed many times at this hotel because we simply love it. The location is perfect for beautiful sunsets on the headland and a scenic walks into newquay and fistral. The staff are friendly, welcoming and incredibly helpful. We usually have dinner at the sixty bistro and have always had a lovely meal when we do. Thankyou for another lovely stay and we cannot wait to have our wedding here in the future
Beautiful hotel, staff were friendly and so helpful, perfect with the swimming pool and games area. Great location for fistral beach and Crantock beach
Good location, good shower pressure
The room had a noticeable damp smell, particularly the bedding, and I ended up spraying it with my own perfume to try to mask it. There were stains on the pillowcase and one of the towels, and the outside of the basin had a very visible dirty streak running down it which I was surprised had been missed during cleaning. The mattress was also uncomfortable. At £106 for a single room, I expected a much better standard of cleanliness and comfort, so unfortunately I was disappointed with the stay.
Central and good location to the beach
Could do with a fan or aircon in the room. Leaving the windows open let in too much noise from the people in the hotel bar till 2am. Not good when we had a little one and a long drive the next day
Sean was brilliant 🎉
Swimming pool was fantastic feature.
Breakfast needs improvement.
Enough parking spaces. Although it was advertised with parking and. Ever mentioned a fee for it until we arrived
Staff were a bit rude and not very friendly. Room was very stuffy
Staff are friendly and helpful The food was okay and drinks were good The location and the parking
The room was on a slant which meant the bed was too. The bed was terrible. The room was tiny despite being an upgrade its unclean, stuffy. The seagull had learnt to scream outside the window at 3am every night The bathroom smelt of cigarettes and pond The kettle leaked. I cut myself on the wall trimming, apparently this was freshly decorated.
The devote is pretty tired but I can get past that. What is utterly unacceptable is when the bedding is clearly filthy. The pillows smelt so rank I had to cover them in perfume just to try and mask the smelll of other peoples festering sweat. AVOID!! An utter waste of money.
Great location. Breakfast very good.
Tired and dated hotel, rooms very small, bathroom so tiny. Rusty handrail in bath, rusty plug hole. It was clean but needs refurb. Window only opened 2 inches and without air conditioning the room was very stuffy. You have to pay to park in the hotel’s car park.
The pool was excellent. The staff were great
It needs more care and attention to detail, there were weeds all around the building, carpets were old and dirty, the bathroom was small and dingy. It needs money being spent on it, it could be great.
I was disappointed with my stay at the Pentire Hotel. For around £250 per night, I expected a much higher standard. The hotel feels quite dated and in need of renovation. Cleanliness was below expectations, especially in the common areas. The car park was dirty and poorly maintained. The staff were not particularly welcoming or friendly, and the breakfast quality was disappointing with limited fresh options. The location is good, especially for Fistral Beach, but unfortunately that alone does not justify the price. Overall, I don't feel the hotel offers good value for money, and I would not choose to stay here again or recommend it at this price.
The property was great and good location
The beds was awful to hard and we asked for a double bed Ended up with 2 beds pushed together with two mattress and the middle of bed stuck up
I loved how accomodating ALL the staff were at Pentire. Everyone from the reception, to the cleaners, bar staff and restaurant staff were lovely! Real genuine, happy people. My family were taken care of and everything was attended to. The pool is a nice bonus. Sixty Bistro is good enough with a nice menu for all, if you don't fancy eating out, especially after being out all day on the numerous beautiful beaches. The wonderful Fistral beach is literally down the road. I couldn't ask for more. Many thanks! I'll be back!!
Mycket bra frukost. Bra mat på restaurangen.
Väldigt slitet. Dyrt för vad boendet erbjuder. Ingen strand nära. Inga andra restauranger när.
Family room had plenty of space for 2 Adults, 2 Children (14), (04). Bed & Breakfast included in our stay, and a substantial saving on comparable Hotels and B&B’s in the area for the 3 nights. Bar well stocked and reasonably priced in high season. Bistro restaurant onsite had plenty of options. Secure onsite parking priced at £10 per night. The staff were Pentire Hotels strongest asset, always polite, engaging and willing to go the extra mile. Swimming Pool and Games Room exceeded our expectations.
Location. A daily walk to Fistral beach was enjoyable, however as a family venturing further afield it became an endurance task at times with all of our belongings. Servicing Rooms. Our towels, cups and glasses were not changed for the entirety of our stay. Beds were not made and sheets weren’t changed.
Breakfast was good and staff were friendly.
Room was really small, so small I could not even unpack. Everything was just shabby. The bathroom had a step up to it and the toilet sat on a step in in the bathroom. It's like it's been cobbled together over time. The window didn't close properly and looks like it gets screwed shut in winter, as it had holes drilled in corners of the frame. Oh and it's £10 a day to park on a crap car park. Not even a guaranteed space. Rod parking is also crap, so budget for this hidden cost. Don't expect your room serviced other than "mid-stay". It's just below par all round. On top of this, all the decor and facilities are just tired.
Great location, comfortable beds.
The decor is very tired and quite shabby.
The room was comfortable and clean Plenty of tea and coffee
The signal on the tv was non existent
Location
Tired and dirty riooms
Staff are very welcoming and helpful. Location is also good. Breakfast was tasty and service was very good. Kids loved swimming pool.
Didn't like parking fees. There are not many parking spaces around hotel anyway and you still need to pay 10 pounds for a day without guaranty you will have a space when you leave for 10 minutes . it is a joke. Parking should be included in a stay. No fridge in a room is a minus specially in a hot days.
The staff were amazing, great location. Swimming pool and games area were both a hit.
Schöne Umgebung, gute Lage Netter Pool
Chlorgeruch im ganzen Hotel inkl. Zimmer Parkplatzgebühr von 10€ extra Putz hinter der Heizung ist abgefallen Schmutziger Teppichboden
Location was good, breakfast nice, staff friendly. Main areas well kept. We didn't eat dinner there.
Bedroom was quite dated but clean. A parking charge of £10 per night applies if you haven't booked direct, but it was still cheaper to use Booking dot com even with this factored in.
Nice location
Location !! Staff was so friendly . The best cooked breakfast I’ve had .
There was nothing I didn’t like . I can’t wait to go bk !!
The location Reception staff member took the time to bring flowers up to the room
It was my wedding day and there was no cold water and unable to have a shower. Poor breakfast, overcooked Very cold pool Tired decor
Everything
I didn't like anything.
An old building that should no longer function to receive people is beyond any function and beyond any expectations. You pay money only for the photos you see because when you go from close by it is a disappointment in all directions! They make you pay £10 per night for parking when they don't guarantee you a parking space!!!
Facilities good
Breakfast was tiny
