Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Craig, on reception was really helpful. He moved our daughters room nearer to us and made sure our granddaughter had some dairy free porridge for breakdast.
The only slight niggle was that the room was really hot upon check in and the air con didnt seem to work.
Well positioned for a motorway stop. The hotel has some new renovation plus older facilities so experience was varied, with some areas in need of refurbishment. Bar/restaurant extremely popular and good choices. The robot servers amusing for all.
The room was comfortable BUT extremely noisy with a disco in the downstairs function room until late.
Modern well equipped comfortable room. Nice king sized bed. Good value for money included breakfast
Didn’t find anything to dislike during our one night stay
Nice hotel and good location
Some of the staff were very rude
I was there for a wedding, so the wedding..
The curtains in the room were hanging off. Reported to reception and he just said "I'm aware"! No hot water in the morning until around 10:30am. The staff are miserable because they're overworked. One member of staff on a bar where there was around 100 guests. One member of staff on at breakfast in the morning, when the hotel was fully booked.
The staff was lovely. Very well spoken and really polite The bed was big the bathroom was a decent size. Fan, iron, hairdryer Lovely view Curtains blocked out all the sunlight so had a decent sleep with the room been so dark. The breakfast was lovely £139 for bed and breakfast so I thought was decent Check in and out was easy and fast
The corridors are really dark. And the shower in our room wasn’t great and door to bathroom was getting stuck on the floor so was heavy to push open. The main entrance is on the back of the hotel so it doesn’t look so nice on the outside as I imagined it would. But it’s lovely once inside
Had a great time lovely lady checked us in got in early which was an absolute plus
Too warm I’ve got to say it’s probably the hottest hotel I’ve stayed just glad it wasn’t in middle of heatwave
Nice place, great food, friendly staff
We had a family room directly above where a wedding was on, with loud music playing until midnight. Kids couldn’t sleep
I love the location and food is always top notch here
The cleanliness of the bathroom area in the hotel room was disgusting scum all over the shower tray and tiles area, needing a good clean.
The suite room was stunning with and over look onto the beautiful little garden, attended a wedding food was lovley
The staff were brilliant from being welcomed by Bailey to the staff who served us room service. The whole place is lovely and very clean. Food is exceptional.
Road sound from our room was loud but this can't be helped. Room was lovely which made up for the noise.
Looks nice at first glance but lacks maintenance and cleanliness
The sink was filthy with hairs in it. Air conditioning switched off so room was too uncomfortable to sleep Extremely over priced venue and drink price was way over the price you would expect at a very poorly run establishment Still not received my deposit EV chargers didn’t work Very very disappointed with stay and would never recommend
Stayed for 2 nights, room service didn’t make the bed or replace the shampoo etc. Woken at 7am by cocktail type music playing on speakers outside my window.
Good parking, good size room, nice building, enjoyable breakfast. Even though there was a wedding party, we couldn't hear it from our room
Bar and restaurant was ok
Our room had old door with changed lock in different position. Was awful on arrival..no safe,no air con.asked for fan which appeared on landing..was absolutely filthy and broken ..more like a 2 star than 4
Great location just off motorway
Very expensive in bar for type of venue, only one bar staff member on (who was really nice and patient) trying to serve 20+ guests so long wait every time, no air con in any bedrooms
The breakfast was good
Air conditioning in the room
Rooms were big and bathroom spacious. Car parking was ample.
Air-conditioning didn't keep the room cool enough to sleep in. Loud music from the function room was playing until very late and was so loud you could feel it. Would have preferred to have known about this when booking as wouldn't have booked. Beds were uncomfortable and pillows were too hard.breakfast had very limited choice and was bland.
Picturesque
Liked it all
Was a family wedding very noce
The staff giving out canapes very miserable and rude
Andrea was fantastic when my mother in law fainted she is an absolute credit and can not thank her enough Breakfast was very good a lot of variety Room was lovely Beds was comfy
There was lipstick on the cups in the room And the noise that came from the window from the traffic on the road was non stop even tho the window was shut it sounded as if it wasn’t you would expect little noise with it being a new building didn’t have a restful sleep If I was to stay again I would ask for a room away from the road
Tv out of date and remote was not working properly asked for replacement
Not much
Everything! It was awful 😖 Believe me when I say dont have your weddings here or even spend a nigjt. It's horrendous. You've been warned ⚠️
The restaurant and rooms were exceptional
I booked two rooms for my children and I and we got placed on separate floors and not next to each other. Meant my husband and I had to spend the night apart to stay with each of the children
The hotel was clean rhe staff were fantastic
The lack of air conditioning in the room , we got a portable unit from reception room was still far too warm
Stayed here for a wedding. Staff not great most have bad/blasé attitude like they don’t want to be there. Vegan food subpar and breakfast options for vegans not great. Cleanliness of hotel and room not great, only one towel for 2 of us.
Staff, cleanliness of hotel, food options, no water in rooms, cleaners entering room before check out and before waiting for a response.
The room, staff, restaurant and location are all superb.
There was no fridge in the room.
Lovely location and beautiful
Was t anything I didn’t like other than there was visible dust on sides in bathroom
The garden areas and the wedding venue were set up lovely
The air con in the room wasn’t working the corridors were poorly lit
No Air conditioning in the rooms. It was so unbelievable hot. We booked into the hotel for 2 nights as we were attending our son's wedding on 28th June 2026. The temperatures outside were unbelievablely hot which I understand its not the normal temperatures for June however a five star hotel with air conditioning around the hotel but not in the rooms where you are supposed to chill and relax. The hotel supplied 1 fan to oscillate the air in the room however it was warm air. I had make up and hair set for the wedding and trying to get ready in the room was horrendous
Room was modern and clean.
Room was far too warm, I opened the window but as there is a main road very close, the noise (along with the room temp) prevented me getting a good nights sleep. Also, blind does not keep light out.
Room was nice and clean reception nice and cool
Bar prices is ridiculous 🥲
Food was OK
The room in the older side was very dated with a great view of a chimney ( needs new flashing ) although tried to update the room it failed still looked tired and cheap
Location was good and price was OK
The room was clean but very tired, the decor not nice and the mattress wasn't very firm.
The staff at reception were outstanding especially Bailey he couldn’t do enough for you would like to tank him
Location and restaurant
Replenishment of consumable Room service
Easy parking, close to the M1, comfortable bed and good dinner.
Our room 212 was on the second floor and overlooked a busy road which made it too noisy with the window open. There was also a constant annoying hum from the bathroom. The room had a small window which made it dark in the day time. Lighting was inadequate and room was still dinghy with the lights on. Although it was a double room there was only one easy chair which was very uncomfortable. The stool for the dressing table area was very low. When I sat on it I was so low that I couldn’t see myself in the mirror Paper tissues were not provided neither was a shower cap which was needed to prevent wetting my hair because the shower was a rainfall.
The food was very good, however it was not hot enough, Coffee was poured early, and by the time you got your food from the self service this also was not hot enough,
The Room was small ,not much wardrobe space, the sink unit had a crack in the basin , no bars to assist you when taking a shower, and no where to put your shampoo or shower lotion when showering, we were older clients and we thought that there was no aids or extra help for us. the bed was comfortable and all the other facilities worked fine, we did have a staircase to climb with our luggage. which was quite a difficult task.
Beautiful hotel and grounds
Our room smell of sewage as the time went on it got worse
Initially served cold tea and coffee from a portable flask at breakfast which was replaced by fresh
No complaints
The rooms in the old part of the hotel are poor, unclean, shower wouldn't ever run hot, toilet didn't flush properly, very limited bathroom soaps, gels etc supplied. Room was small, bed was a small single (as advertised) and moved whenever I was on it. The duvet was very thick and overly warm making it very uncomfortable in the night. Also very expensive £218 for two nights was not good value for money
Food was a bit spenny
Location, design and style
Slightly starting to show its age mainly in bathroom but really nit picking here
Fabulous food, beautiful and comfortable rooms. Staff super friendly and helpful
I have visited 3 times now and unfortunately found this visit quite different to my first 2 where I fell in love with the hotel. I booked 2 Wildes suites and the bed is now just a standard double, it used to be bigger which is what is expected from a suite. There is no longer a turn down service either which was always a nice touch. I also was told there was no al a carte menus for breakfast after my first night, I was so looking forward to the Eggs Benedict I had enjoyed on previous stays. However, the following morning, I saw another table choosing off of it after the second night so felt disappointed that it could’ve been an option for me. I brought my friends to the hotel for the first time and they didn’t have the robes in their suite that they should have- this is a nice touch which led to me choosing the suites- along with the bigger bed so was disappointed.
We did not book a breakfast. Room only.
We enjoyed our overall stay and celebrated the wedding of a close friends son.
Nothing
Very dark throughout the corridors and room Broken shutters in room Suite very poor
Beautiful property. Comfortable beds. Great staff.
Slow breakfast service, we waited 30 minutes for tea and coffee and had to ask 3 times. Parts of the bedrooms are becoming run down.
Comfortable rooms and beds. Friendly staff. Great location.
The gym is slightly dirty and in a dingy. The breakfast used to be better. It's declined in the last year.
Really good communal areas; restaurant and bars
Noisy from the nightclub, noisy from corridor (the walls are paper thin so you hear people walking down the corridor, open and closing doors, talking). The 24hr bar means this happens all night, slept for less that a couple of hours. Breakfast organisation was also poor, constantly running out of food, big queues for a buffet breakfast
Very clean hotel and a comfortable bed. The staff were friendly and polite.
The glass bathroom door did not close properly and there was a very loud humming noise in the room, which kept me awake most of the night!
The evening meal food was OK
I was staying in the hotel room 101 which was booked by one of my suppliers. Where do I start, I have previously stayed in this property before and had issues with noisy fans in the room roof on the occasion after a lengthy discussion I was moved rooms. On Saturday I entered the room with my family and immediately I could hear the fan noise I went down to reception to complain, the reception although polite was obviously well briefed on the excuses for the noise I asked to speak to the manager who eventually turned up only to start giving the same excuses, upon my continued complete he finally asked if we were leaving the room in the evening, I said yes we were meeting friends for dinner, he agreed that he would have the fan turned of for the duration of our stay. We left our room early for dinner as we couldn't do with the noisy, I went to reception and told the same receptionist we had left the room so someone could turn off the fan. We then went to the bar which we couldn't get near as the hotel was hosting a wedding, we ended up sitting in the reception area, which wasn't idea. Guess what when we went back to the room the same noise. As you can imagine none of us got much sleep. To round the experience off we went for breakfast my daughter asked if they serviced fruit tea, the reply she got was "yes but it will be at an extra charge", nearly £300 for a noisy room and you cannot afford a tea bag!!!
Friendly staff
Room was a bit tired carpet patched up
lovely place
Got charged extra for a room with no explanation. A lady was told to stop serving my grandad multiple times and carried on, which i can only assume is for profit, he has now ended up in the hospital. My room i had booked was given to the bridesmaids to get ready in (not a problem) I was told it would be cleaned with fresh bedding and towels, this did not happen! Very disappointing and leaves a bad taste. Will not recommend anyone having a wedding here, multiple people for the same day have had the same issues. More than happy for someone to contact me!
Location is great.
Old, outdated and dirty buildings and rooms.
We were in the older part off the hotel in a room with a wedding going on downstairs. We had to walk thru the wedding reception to go to and from the room which wasn’t right. There was only one bath towel in the room booked for 2 people
So positives… the bathroom was fairly clean and it seems to have a good website that fools you into thinking it’s an upmarket place. Negatives… on a loud main road. Very loud rooms being able to hear everything from the bar area until very late, so very little sleep. Thermostat unresponsive so stifling room but can’t open the window because of extreme traffic noise. Inedible food which took over 90 minutes to arrive. Incompetent, rude staff who didn’t care. There was one waitress at breakfast who was rushed off her feet with no help from colleagues who stood around talking. Breakfast very limited and ran out at 9am! We were so looking forward to our trip but it was an overpriced huge disappointment. Please don’t waste your money here.
Excellent service from start to finish friendly efficient staff room was very spacious and comfortable breakfast was very good we would definitely recommend and will be making a return
Nothing
Excellent meal, best fish pie I've ever tasted, lovely restaurant and ambience, staff are really attentive and polite and look very smart, very enjoyable experience every time we visit,
Hotel was clean and staff were friendly. Lovely food.
Bathroom was worn and had no hand soaps and no shelving to place anything which seemed a little strange. Shower also had no where to place anything. Beds very uncomfortable but they’re sleepable. Drinks were VERY expensive. Rooms also very warm with no air con and opening window meant little sleep due to a very loud road.
Breakfast was fantastic nice big rooms. Was there for daughters wedding may need better chairs a bit wobbly. Rest of grounds was lovely.
On arrival the place looked stunning, we booked a table but was not ready (wasn't busy and plenty of free tables) When seated a lady asked if we wanted water replied yes it took 10 mins to get water after a little reminder when she came to ask for our drinks and food order, 20 mins later the food arrived on the robot as this was the only second visit we was unsure if we needed to help ourselves? No floor staff around until a chap ran over to serve us i did mention it had been there a while, he asked if we needed any sauce ect I asked for vinegar which again took a while, then he fetched mayonnaise?? No vinegar after a while he came to ask if everything was OK I mentioned our drinks had not arrived and vinegar ( we had eaten some of the warm food so didn't really need the vinegar so I explained we was ok without it and could we have our drinks ? By the time our drinks had arrived we had finished our food, We did have a dessert which was lovely (recommend mint cheesecake 😋) On payment i was asked if everything was OK I did say no but was just ignored i would usually accept a tip but I did decline because the service was not very good and meal was not hot. Will I return? Possibly just to see if our experience is better.
Nothing
Stuck in the old part of the property
Was there for a wedding, the venue was beautiful, plenty of different outdoor spaces, it all flowed lovely
Our room was in a separate annex to the rest of the wedding party
Great food staff very good our server was Michal he was very good
Outstanding service from the team at Wildes Inn - could not have done more for us, we were a big event and it was the best food from our whole week on the road. We even gave the chef a round of applause for the incredible food.
Cleanliness,friendly staff and service
Another comfy chair in room
Lovely lunch once again being treated for Mother’s Day. A warm welcome , lovely food and service. Max and Amy were very attentive, friendly and exceptional as usual.
If your planning on getting married this is the place, affordable luxury. Charlotte and the team did not disappoint and did a tremendous job. Food was incredible and all the staff who partaken on the day we're so helpful and polite. Many of my guests have got back to me and said how beautiful the venue is and how accommodating the staff are. Highly recommend. Thank you again 💓
Great customer service and lovely food.
Lovely food and great service as always
Have been looking for a hotel in the area with Great food and service and this ticks all boxes.
We booked and stayed over to attend an evening wedding reception and were very looking forward to exceptional attention to detail in the £151 per night room. Sadly we got no wow factor. No fridge . Minimal. Only 30ml shower gel, shampoo conditioner (not enough for 2 adults when i have long hair) oh and small bar of soap, We had a cooked breakfast the following morning included in the price, sadly again very disappointing as we did not have breakfast size plates just side plate size. I asked the waitress to change the cold plates left for our breakfast for a warm plate she just said we dont have plate warmers! Any one knows you dont put hot food on a cold plate . Another note take heed £50 extra on check in to cover any damages to your room refundable in a few days..The hotel will charge you if you take in your own alcohol to drink in your room and leave the bottles so take your empys home
We recently had our wedding here at Wildes and wow, from start to finish the whole experience was perfect. Our wedding co-originator was Jack and he made the whole thing faultless. Nothing was too much trouble! The day ran so smoothly, the venue is stunning and the food was to die for, already can’t wait for our next date night and anniversary stay!
First impressions are of a modern and stylish hotel. It was initially puzzling that reception was beyond the far end of the car park. It soon became obvious that reception was actually between the new and old (Georgian?) sections which then catered for two separate weddings simultaneously. The large reception area was surprising but part of the wedding picture. Staff were friendly and welcoming when you could hear what they were saying. The new build public part is devoid of soft furnishings (carpets and curtains) and sounds are magnified to the extent that when groups of people appeared everybody had to raise their voices to be heard. The excessive noise was apparent in all the public rooms. Fortunately, ‘our’ wedding was in the old part of the hotel where the ambience was perfect and you could hold a normal conversation. Finding our room was not helped by the very gloomy corridors which were barely lit and reminiscent of a haunted house! The sign for our room was not in front of us but on an unlit side wall so we missed it first time. Opening the door into our room we had two strong impressions: it was a good size and gloomy (the curtains were drawn!). The designer had been working overtime with dark walls and dark furniture coupled with inadequate (and mostly useless) lighting. The bedside lights were again of little use and badly designed for their supposed purpose (again they were ‘designer’). The bathroom was better as it was well lit although it was again a win for form over function. In no particular order: no shaver socket (we did ask reception in case it was hidden); 2 toilet roll holders but only a small hand rail for towels despite there being 2 hand towels and 2 good size bath towels (and 2 occupants); the sink was overly large but the spout left little room between the end and the sink; the sink taps were widely spaced on the wall behind the sink which meant water etc going down the back of the sink; to wash your hands there was a small tube of liquid body wash; the shower was good but only an overhead waterfall (that ‘designer’ again!) and you had to use the shower to fill the bath because the bath flow was very slow; being softer water the bath was also slippery getting out but nowhere to hold on to avoid slipping. The soap and shampoo problem could easily be solved with wall mounted pump containers that you normally see in hotels these days. The room seemed to be on the hotel air conditioning system which made a noise continuously and the wall temperature controls had no effect (but you could crack the window open). The dining room was pleasant and the food excellent. The wedding was well catered and staff managed brilliantly (despite the ‘designer’ soup bowl and plate which are almost impossible to lift off a tray with one hand). The bar prices were eye watering but maybe that is a sign of the times! If you are going to a wedding then enjoy it, if you are staying be prepared for the many oddities and beware that rooms on the front are overlooking a busy main road.
Stayed at Wildes as needed to attend a meeting for work in Retford. Arrived at the hotel on a cold and wet evening. Check in was pleasant and I was allocated a room on the 1st floor. Got to the room and it was freezing, window wide open so no pre use room checks guess. Heating took an age to work so sat doing a bit of work with my coat on, not exactly welcoming. Staff were friendly and welcoming when I called down for dinner but WOW very expensive for food and drink. 2 pints and a basic nothing special single main was £40 plus. Slept OK but never really got warm and couldn't get the heating to warm the room properly. Breakfast was OK but nothing special. Sorry Wildes I feel you are trying to be a premium hotel and providing a budget hotel service at top dollar.
Had the most amazing experience ever from start to finish. Staff amazing and so friendly and helpful as well as professional. Wildes suite was amazing. Food and cocktails wow! Good choice for breakfast, Hopefully will be booking soon for the AbbA weekend 🙏 well done Marc x
My other half booked this as part of a £99 Valentine’s deal (room, bottle of prosecco and breakfast), and we were genuinely excited. We attended a wedding in the older part of the hotel last year and I’ve often driven past thinking how lovely it would be to stay there. First impressions were promising, reception smelled wonderful and check-in was smooth. The young man on the desk was quiet but polite, took our £50 deposit and directed us to our room. Unfortunately, things dipped a little from there. As soon as we stepped through to the lift area we noticed dirty, stained carpet. I appreciate it’s a high-traffic space, but given the hotel’s rating, I would expect it to be spotless. On level 2 the corridor was very dark, which felt a bit gloomy and could potentially be unsafe for older guests. The room initially looked nicely presented, I liked the colours and wallpaper choice, but it didn’t match the photos from the booking (ours had no bath, which was shown in the listing). If not all rooms include a bath, that probably needs clarifying. On closer inspection, the wallpaper was torn and peeling, and there was black mould along the bottom of the wall behind the chair and around the window. The bathroom was mostly clean, though there was something hanging from the tap spout which wasn’t pleasant, and we had no hand soap. I’m sure reception would have sorted it if we’d asked, but we just made do. The shower looked stylish, but the water pressure was very poor. That said, the bed was comfortable and we did sleep well, until just after midnight when people were running up and down the corridor banging on doors, including ours. At breakfast we were asked if we wanted tea or coffee before being shown to a table, which felt a bit unusual but fine. It was a self-serve buffet; I’d assumed it might be waiter service, so that was slightly disappointing. I enjoyed my breakfast, though my partner found parts of it a bit greasy. Overall, for £99 it was an okay stay. However, I wouldn’t pay more than that, particularly as we’ve stayed in better-maintained and better-equipped Premier Inns. The rooms were very warm, with no air-conditioning, especially in such a modern build hotel, and the WiFi was useless as it kept dropping. In my opinion, the 4-star rating feels a little generous.
Stayed for a valentines special offer deal - overnight with prosecco and breakfast included. Also booked for evening meal. First impressions were good, room clean and modern. On closer inspection, noticed a couple of "tired" areas in the room- carpet had a patch repaired, fittings in bathroom worn and damaged. No hand soap and the bath took absolutely ages to drain. No extractor fan in the bathroom. There was a persistent low humming noise all through the night- no idea where it was coming from? The meal was delicious, although my partner had bbq chicken kebab, and felt dissatisfied with the portion size. At breakfast the following morning, sat at table and I had to ask for clean cutlery as the cutlery at my place setting was dirty. There were also food items that had not been replenished- we felt this was due to lack of appropriate staff numbers. My partner was also very disappointed that we did not get our food served by a robot! 😆
Lovely location, extremely helpful staff
N/A
Everything except beds were too comforatble so slept through breakfast lol
Missing breakfast lol
No soap in bathroom..no safety mat or safety rail in bath / showet
I had my wedding here and it was the most amazing experience ever. All the staff were so friendly and catering to everyone needs and our wedding coordinator was absolutely amazing going above and beyond to make everything amazing we literally could not have done this without him. The food was amazing and buffet for night and the DJ was brilliant aswell. Would recommend anyone to book a wedding here
Welcomed, seated and offered a jug of water straight away whilst me and mum surveyed the menu. I had the boeuf bourguignon with mashed potato and root vegetables, it was absolutely amazing, so delicious with the madeira sauce. Mum loved the fish pie, the prawns and chunks of salmon were huge. Also treated ourselves to desserts, mum had the sherry trifle which she thoroughly enjoyed. I had the warm chocolate brownie which was really gooey inside and finished the whole meal off to perfection. The service was great and the cat robot cute, especially when it came over singing happy birthday to me with a lovely surprise from the chef ! Couldn’t fault anything today, the meal was perfection! We will be back to try the afternoon tea next time, thank you
Location was perfect for appointment at Barlborough Hospital. The reception staff were excellent. Very Friendly and efficient and explained things well in a polite manner. Excellent evening meal in the restaurant and good staff.
We booked an accessible room which was a very long walk from the lift (room 116) . The heating controls were very difficult to use if you are not young and up to date with technology. Used the stand alone heater but it had a foot missing. No bar of soap in bathroom. Limited hot water if one of us had a shower. No iron or ironing board and I am sure one was advertised. Breakfast seemed a little limited and I got a full pot of tea but my husband only got one cup of luke wark coffee. When we asked for a second coffee it never arrived. The waitresses were more intrigued with the computer.
Met with a friendly smile and warm welcome. Ordered the Lamb Kofta which was absolutely delicious and my friend had the chicken and chilli penne pasta which was equally delicious. Service was excellent from Max and Sofia, nothing was too much trouble. Will be back.
The hotel was easy to navigate, kept very clean and tidy. Easy to get to and a great venue for weddings.
Make sure you don’t book the older part of the hotel!! After looking at many many reviews before booking, the hotel looked modern safe and as a 4* hotel for weddings I expected great things . I booked through a corporate site . I was told that I was in the old building when checking in and that I was ‘the only one in there’ . Also followed that people aren’t normally happy being in there to which both comments left me on edge as a solo female . The old building is in a quiet area off the main road not connected to reception with the access door left open at all times so anyone could have come off the main road . Big security concern especially as I was told no one was in there with me . The downstairs was the wedding bar area but had a strange smell and looked desolate. Checking into the room I had to go up a flight of stairs with all my bags . I was not told about this or helped at all even though I had a lot of luggage . For a 4* this was very very below standards. The room was half modern and half old and very cold due to thin windows. The shower did not have anywhere to put your toiletries which was strange and the bathroom flooded with the shower on even at lower pressure. I contacted reception that I didn’t feel safe in the building and wanted to either get a refund for the following 2-3 nights and check out ( happy to pay for the initial night ) but I was not helped at all . Management clearly know that that part of the building is not up to standards with the modern rooms and seem to be hiding behind it .people need to be made more aware as there is another recent review with similar complaints.
the breakfast was very good and very enjoyable and the location was fine
the option of the breakfast available was really good. The food was hot and plentiful and the continental breakfast is available but not openly available on show but a second option from the waiting service
Tonight I checked into the Wildes Inns Limited just outside Chesterfield, I've stayed there once before. It was a lovely stay. A nice modern, clean hotel. Not this time! I'm delivering training tomorrow and for anyone who visits companies across the country you will probably have your favourite hotels that you can rely on right? Feeling safe is a big factor for me. I'm sure I'm not the only one whose room has managed to be accessed in the middle of the night by a random stranger and it's a bit disconcerting to say the least. If you're in a hotel where there are people on site, at least you know you can shout for help. This time the room that I'd booked, didn't give it much attention, as I'd stayed there before, was not in the main hotel but the mansion house next door. I managed to find the entrance (it looks like they use this for wedding parties) but no security, doors were open to the mansion house and not a soul around. I had to remake my way back to the hotel reception because there were no signs for rooms anywhere. Finally I get to my room, it was up the stairs, which had no signs and I didn't feel safe to stay there at all. There was no one that I could see or hear within the mansion house, despite me trying to listen out. I tried to get a refund for the room because I didn't feel safe, but Mark, the person who was not handling my request well, said that I couldn't have one. As far as he was concerned I'd booked the room and that was that. It didn't matter to him whether I felt safe or not. His words were "the only reason why you're not happy is because I'm not giving you the answer you want", in a curt, unfriendly, sarcastic tone. In my 20 years of doing various jobs that require me to travel, I have never asked for a refund before and hopefully this will be the last time. I'm now in another hotel, feeling safe. I'm delivering a consultative sales training day tomorrow, which covers delivering excellent customer service Wildes Inns Limited. Think you might need my help!
