In a good location

We stayed at Willow - good size room comfy bed and lovely facilities Well located with local parking.

Breakfast was really excellent and location is very good, right in the middle of the village and pretty close to the lake. On the down side, it was difficult to get the luggage three flights of stairs up to the third room. Everything was clean, but we noticed some black mould in the shower which needs seeing to.

Dans mon souvenir les guesthouses comme les BnB incluaient le petit déjeuner. Ici il était payant, correct sans plus et payable en espèces. La chambre est minuscule, la nôtre était au dessus de l cuisine, le matin remontée des odeurs de friture pas agréable.

Close to shops, lake, lots of eateries . Russel & Julie were fab host & hostess, breakfast was delicious, lots of choice.

Good central location , with parking ,which was a real bonus . All facilities you need in the room and very clean . Welcoming cheerful and helpful host with great local knowledge to make the stay so much better . Certainly a very good place to stay

Bed wasn't very comfortable, too soft and not long enough if you are over 6 foot! Only saw the hosts in the morning so no-one around to ask for more coffee, milk etc. Shower wasn't great

Right at the top of Bowness, literally 5mins from everything the town has to offer so very convenient. Breakfast is a good value (though you're expected to pay cash on the day if you add-on). Bed was comfortable enough and WiFi was good enough to stream TV. Free parking spaces if you're lucky enough to catch a vacant one, and bus stops to Windermere and all other major towns just outside. Overall a decent enough place to crash after a day out on the lakes.

Room wasn't quite big enough to fit the bed in, and obstructed all the doors which getting round the room was a bit of a hassle. We had a broken extractor fan in the small ensuite (which would definitely not suite "larger" guests), and window had safety locks on them preventing them from being opened fully - so a couple of showers and the whole room turned into a bog. Parking is incredibly limited - Their guest house has up to 8 rooms but only 3 private parking spaces and the sidestreet it's on is rammed. so invariably be prepared to pay for the Bowness pay & display (another c.£10 a day)

We actually stayed at The Willows guest house next door to Melbourne House. The owners of both are a lovely couple and answered all our queries and went over and above to provide us with all the assistance we required. I'm aware they are selling Melbourne House shortly but I'd definitely book to stay at the Willows in future.

Can't think of anything I'd change. The Willows is a lovely property.

Parking was terrible no one there to meet us was forced to park far away until until landlady turned up then moved car nearer the guest house. All this took over hour for us and other guests. Would not go back there.

The bed was very, very comfortable! The location was great, it's about a ten-minute walk to the water. Finding parking was not too much of a hassle - there were three car spots for the guest house, and if they were filled, there was street parking.

Shower pressure was not the best, but we managed!

Would be better with more choice of cereals,fruits,yogurts etc

We Stayed for 2 nights in willow cottage next door, we stayed in room 3 the top floor, the room and bathroom were very nice, bed comfy. The Breakfast was fantastic and freshly cooked. The cottage is in a nice quiet location at the endge of the village. I would defo stay again.

Great location, parking was included in a busy area was a plus. Breakfast was outstanding along with the people. This was a wonderful experience.

I loved the room. Very comfortable and relaxing. Breakfast was enjoyable. Less than 10 minutes slow walk to the water front.

The hosts were lovely and very helpful when we needed an earlier breakfast due to our commitments. The breakfast was very good too, can't fault anything really.

If I were to be a little picky, we struggled on the double bed being quite bouncy, when my wife fidgets (which she does tend to do) the movement transferred easily to my side of the bed waking me up. We often choose twin beds for this reason but some double beds are quite hard and ok for us. It's a small thing but I would definitely stay here again.

The ambiance is really good. Excellent feels for a holiday. The location is also good with very close proximity to shops, restaurants and attractions (walking distance). The full english breakfast is amazing! and the hosts are truly kind and accomodating☺️

My headline would be that, whilst this is not quite a throw back to the bad old days of ‘Fawlty Towers’ type B & Bs, it hiss have some similarities. If you are to hide behind a full English breakfast, it needs to be worth hiding behind (e.g inconsistent in what you get, fruit provision miserly, you have to ask for allergens, instant coffee, HP sauce bottle filled with cheaper brand - not verified). I’ll stick to facts though, based on Room 6: 1. Room not as described in Booking.com site (e.g no fridge, no iron, no fan). Paying £850 for the week, you would expect to receive what you pay for. 2. B & B not as advertised (e.g no mini golf or tennis courts). 3. Very small room (see picture). 4. Quite bad mould in bathroom (see pictures). 5. Heated towel rail broken. 6. Bathroom fan broken. 7. Water pressure very poor. 8. Hand towel not changed in a 7 night stay. 9. Tea/coffee sometimes replaced, sometimes not. Had to ask for a toilet roll as they were sometimes replenished, sometimes not. 10. Hosts friendly. 11. Location very good, 12. Bed comfortable. Overall, I was surprised by the positive reviews. I thought that the stay was adequate at best, feel that a cost of £650 would have been more realistic and that, having paid for facilities that were not available, that was a breach of agreement. Host should look at the Booking.com listing and amend it so that it is a true record.

Nothing really. The shower pressure isn't very good, and there was no bath mat outside the shower which I thought was unusual but this could have been an oversight. It didn't affect our stay though

Everything about this Guest House was spot-on, I requested a ground floor room due to our walking difficulties and that is exactly what we got which is unusual for a Guest House. The bed was comfortable and a good shower and plenty of drawer and wardrobe space. Breakfast is excellent and freshly cooked to order.

There is nothing about the Guest House that we didn't like, everything was perfect for us.

the room was well equipped and clean, breakfast was exultant they had anything you could want . well located for the town although the hill was very steep . The Melbourne had it's own private parking which was a major plus .

You get a very good full english breakfast which is cooked to order by the lovely hosts at this B&B.The beds are very comfortable. The location is central to all the shops pubs and restaurants.

Accommodation was close to pubs and restaurants and some nice shops. In walking distance to Bowness Pier ~ be aware the walk is steep! The room was comfortable and perfectly clean. Breakfast was lovely. Cooked to perfection and served in a pretty dining room. The hosts were friendly and Russell was helpful with local information. Private parking is available for guests, super bonus.

Absolutely lovely place, owners Russell & Julie were so friendly, room was spotless and had everything we needed. It's so close to bars restaurants and the lake, we spent lovely night wished we had stayed longer definitely will be going back. We stayed in willow cottage next door, cannot recommend this place enough.

We stayed in Willow cottage, it was so comfortable and spacious , it is right next door to the Melbourne, the location was great, you could walk to Windermere town easily & down to Bowness to the lake. Breakfast was superb and nothing was a bother , great wee team

The parking situation was ridiculous hence why we only stayed 1 night instead of 2. The breakfast was only an hour which isn’t long enough. We never met the hosts we were given the key to our room outside the house and was told breakfast was 08.30-9.30 and any problems message them.

We stayed for a full weekend in feb at the willows cottage which was lovely. The staff was waiting for our arrival even saving us a parking spot which helped. Breakfast was amazing if 100% book that 😁
