It’s a perfect place to stay

Booked on the same evening that we stayed as a very last minute stay as it was pouring with rain and we had a 2hr30min journey home.. we were so pleased to get booked in and found it to be just what we needed for the night. Modern/clean/comfortable! Room 2 has the comfiest bed ever!! Bernard rang me as soon as we booked it to give us some info over the phone and instructions for getting into the property which was super helpful in the heavy rain and pitch dark. Spoke to the lady (unsure if her name apologies) on the morning when checking out and she was really polite and friendly. Would stay again.

The room was absolutely stunning and had a great space by the door for muddy boots which was much needed and a great addition to the room. The bathroom was wonderful and very clean. Overall a great nights stay and will definitely be returning!

This property is perfect and relatively central to all the amenities, it’s was a quiet stay, gorgeous room with everything needed and private shower room. The bed was so unbelievably comfortable!

Very disappointing stay Unfortunately, our stay was extremely disappointing and not what we expected. On arrival, we were not welcomed by any member of staff, which immediately made us feel uncomfortable and as though our arrival was an inconvenience. We had booked a three-night stay but ultimately left after two nights because of the issues we experienced. The room itself was not up to an acceptable standard. There was mould in the shower and also inside the cupboard underneath the bathroom sink. We also found dog hair in the wardrobe. While we understand that the accommodation is pet friendly, we were not informed that we had been allocated a pet-friendly room. I am a Type 1 diabetic and therefore need to be able to have suitable food with me. We were told that we could not bring food back to the room, which was particularly difficult given my medical needs. The biggest issue, however, was the temperature of the room. My partner has cancer, and we were unable to get the heating working. The room was extremely cold, reaching around 17°C. When I contacted the lady about the heating, I was told that it was 19°C, which came across as dismissive rather than addressing the fact that we were genuinely cold and unable to heat the room. Given my partner's health, we expected a much greater level of understanding and care. On the second day, my partner spoke to the lady, who was communicating from a bedroom window. I personally found the interaction rude and felt that we were still being treated without much consideration, particularly as we had never been properly welcomed in the first place. The bed was also a small double, which was very uncomfortable for me as I am a large man. I was worried about falling out of the bed and consequently did not sleep properly. By this point, my partner was feeling unwell and we decided to leave a night early. We had hoped for a comfortable and welcoming three-night stay, but unfortunately that was not our experience.

Lovely clean modern place right near everything!

Clean organised and great shower, close to town walked everywhere. Enough room for bags in room and a great little outlook. Easy to get in

Very minor details - No small fridge anywhere for fresh milk.. and personal preference would be softer pillows and towels

Lovely accommodation, well decorated , sparkling clean and a very comfortable bed. . Only a short walk from the centre and free parking on site.

It was a tiny bit chilly the 2nd nught but tbh we didnt mention it to the owners and we were more than warm enough under the duvet .

We loved the location the best. Just a short walk to the pier, shops and restaurants. Our room was so clean and so comfortable. Bernard and his wife were so wonderful and welcoming. We were only there for a day but Bernard told us the best way to see the area and it was perfect. Be sure to try a lake cruise and the gingerbread in Grasmere! One of Bernard’s recommendations!

On a lovely quiet street just a few minutes walk from the main attractions. The property was just stunning. The entrance and the room were really nicely decorated and spotlessly clean. The host was super friendly and helpful.

Everything was great. Room was spotless and the location was excellent. Would definitely stay there again.

Absolutely spotless room and entire house. Felt very safe with the secure locks on the door. Comfortable large bed with spotless soft bedding. The facilities on the tv was a very nice touch, netflix and such.

My one criticism is that the bathroom was a touch small and the positioning of the bed makes it require a bit of choreography for two people getting ready in the morning.

Michelle was very welcoming, very friendly and gave us plenty of information about the area. Location is ideal for getting to Bowness-on-Windermere and Windermere town and rail station.

The WiFi connection wasn’t great. Kept losing the connection.

Me & my partner stayed for the weekend, the guest house was spot less and the bed was so comfortable.

We stayed as a group, so we had three of the rooms which were all lovely, spacious, clean and comfy. We briefly saw the hosts who were great and made sure we were happy with our stay! The location is perfect… walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go. We will absolutely stay again next time we’re in Windermere!

Room was beautiful, lovely big bay window and nice furnishings. Location was great; just a short walk down to the town centre.

Shower was a little tricky to get to temperature.

The room was large, warm and comfortably furnished with an excellent ensuite. The bed was comfortable and the shower was hot. Michelle was so helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We had a great time and will definitely stay again. Excellent location too.

Hosts contacted us prior to arrival, directing us on how to gain access. We arrived early, and the hosts kindly allowed us to enter the property. Room was on the top floor. It was spacious, bright and well presented. There is plenty of tea, coffee, etc, although no sweeteners only sugar. Luckily I had my own. Close to the main street and we managed to park on the road. Bed was comfy and there was a sofa and storage space in a double wardrobe. Tv was on a bracket so you could watch whilst in bed. All channels and Netflix available. Hosts also provided a folder with local amenities detailed inside. On leaving the next morning, they advised of local walks. Overall a great stay, thank you.

Excellent value

Our second visit to Bowness guest house as we were so impressed the first time. The first floor room was perfect and the bed was so comfortable we wished we were staying longer. Great location for Bowness and beyond, plus restaurants and bars within a 5-10min walk.

A friendly host and the room is clean. Location is a 12mins ride of bus from train station although bus schedule is unpredictable. It is a good unit for a short stay.

The bed mattress could be a bit old style and it is too soft for us.
