Extremely clean. The staff was amazing. From the bell buys and the cleaners, the Waiters, receptionists up to the most friendly manager.

The design is not my taste. But it's me... Too big and bombastic.

Il mio soggiorno al Warldorf Astoria Shanghai sul Bund può essere classificato eccellente. La struttura è molto bella e curata. La camera bellissima e con una parete di cristallo si affaccia sullo skayline del Pudong; addormentarsi davanti a tanto spettacolo ha reso il soggiorno emozionante. Il personale è molto gentile, accorto e professionale. La colazione molto ricca, sia occidentale che cinese. Una bellissima esperienza!!

La recensione si riferisce all’ala Heritage del Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund. Premetto che la King Heritage Suite e l’edificio storico dell’ex Shanghai Club erano davvero molto belli: ambienti eleganti, ricchi di fascino e coerenti con l’idea di un grande hotel storico. Proprio per questo, l’esperienza complessiva è stata ancora più deludente. Per due giorni le parti comuni dell’ala storica sono state sostanzialmente occupate da un evento privato, con invitati che circolavano ovunque. Nulla da eccepire sul diritto dell’hotel di ospitare eventi, ma chi paga una suite nell’ala Heritage paga anche l’atmosfera, la quiete e la possibilità di vivere gli spazi storici, non soltanto un letto. Ancora più grave è stata la presenza continua di ragazze non ospiti intente a fotografarsi in ogni angolo dell’hotel, non solo nelle aree pubbliche, ma anche nei corridoi delle suite e persino negli ascensori. Una situazione francamente intollerabile per un albergo che vorrebbe presentarsi come indirizzo esclusivo. Nessuno controllava, nessuno interveniva, nessuno sembrava presidiare gli accessi. Il risultato era un’atmosfera più simile a un set fotografico aperto al pubblico che a un hotel di lusso. Il Salon de Ville, inoltre, era allestito con una collaborazione a tema Hello Kitty, con elementi luminosi e richiami estetici del tutto incompatibili con il fascino storico dell’ex Shanghai Club. Nulla contro l’iniziativa in sé, ma va comunicata chiaramente: chi sceglie l’ala Heritage cerca un’atmosfera classica e raffinata, non un allestimento promozionale infantile. Il servizio è stato il punto più debole. Il check-in è stato freddo, distratto, svolto in piedi e senza alcuna vera accoglienza. Nell’ala Heritage, dove si trovano le suite, l’assenza di personale era totale: non “poco personale”, ma praticamente nessuno. Per un hotel di questa categoria è inconcepibile.

Title: An Excellent Experience in Shanghai We had an excellent stay at the Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund. The location is truly outstanding, perfect for exploring the city and enjoying the unique atmosphere of the Bund. The suite we were given was magnificent — very spacious, comfortable and impeccably clean, fully meeting the standards one would expect from a hotel of this category. We would also particularly like to highlight the excellent quality of the breakfast, both in terms of variety and the quality of the products, as well as the high standard of service throughout the hotel. The staff were always professional, friendly and attentive, making an important contribution to the enjoyment of our stay. Overall, we were extremely satisfied with the quality of the facilities, cleanliness, comfort and, above all, the level of service. Without a doubt, one of the best hotel experiences of our trip and a hotel we would highly recommend.

We booked a stay at this flagship property through American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts expecting 5-star Waldorf Astoria standards, but the room quality has been highly disappointing. Our first room was completely unlivable, reeking of fresh paint fumes with an AC vent that was soaking wet from condensation. When we complained, the Duty Manager got involved and personally showed us a second room. While this second room was slightly better, it still suffers from a distinct, heavy dampness and a persistent musty smell. It is clear that this hotel has a systemic HVAC and humidity issue. We refused to waste any more of our evening packing bags to change rooms for a third time, so we forced ourselves to stay put in a subpar, damp environment just to avoid further hassle. While the manager physically assisted us with the room swap, the overall service recovery completely lacked a genuine apology for the massive disruption to our stay. For a luxury brand of this caliber, guests should not have to settle for a damp, musty room. Amex FHR travelers should look elsewhere on the Bund until this hotel resolves its structural air-quality issues and retrains its desk staff on proper hospitality.

Понравилось буквально всё, расположение супер удобное и очень красивый вид из окна, персонал - идеальный, бассейн с прохладной водой, удивили и поразили завтраки и ужины, шедевры местной кухни, с европейским уклоном и наличие привычных европейских блюд, приятная атмосфера ресторана и вкусный чай и кофе в номере, у нас немного протекло стекло на 21 этаже на подоконник всю ночь капала вода, думаю это устранимая проблема , в это время на Шанхай как раз обрушился тайфун Дельфин, который принёс проливной дождь. Номер большой и красивый, ванная комната идеальная, подготовка номера ко сну прекрасна. Если буду в Шанхае выбор отеля будет однозначно в пользу Астории. Особенно понравилась старая часть отеля, в ней есть ресторан с живой музыкой, рекомендую.

Our four night stay at the Waldorf Astoria Shanghai at the end of July was a mixed bag. The service was honestly incredible from start to finish, but the actual hotel itself fell way short of what you expect from this brand. Definitely one of our most disappointing stays in China. You pay a lot of money for this location and name, but our bathroom had a major issue. Whenever we opened the toilet lid, a strong sewer smell filled the room. Housekeeping came and cleaned it, but nothing helped, so it is probably a plumbing or infrastructure problem. Having to hold your breath in your own hotel room bathroom is pretty miserable, and knowing that, I would never come back. On top of that, the gym is ridiculously tiny. It is basically the size of a normal guest room and looks like a basic local hotel gym. For weights, they only have a single cable machine and free weights, plus a few treadmills. Great service is wonderful, but it cannot make up for bad plumbing and a tiny gym when you are paying luxury prices.

Очень рада своему выбору отеля в Шанхае. Изначально при выборе отеля было важно месторасположение и красивый панорамный вид. Но в итоге остались довольны всем. И персоналом и уборкой номера , хорошие завтраки . Дочка передает, что это были самые удобные подушки в ее жизни . Спасибо большое отелю за то, что мы чувствовали себя на протяжении всего отдыха очень комфортно.

Excellent location, spacious and comfortable rooms, delicious food, and outstanding service. The staff were professional, friendly, and attentive throughout my stay. The rooms were cleaned twice a day and maintained to a very high standard. The hotel offers excellent value for money. I would sincerely recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

We stayed at Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund for one night before flying from Shanghai the following day. We had previously chosen other luxury hotels in the city, but wanted to try a Hilton property this time, and the experience was excellent. The location is one of the hotel’s greatest strengths, directly beside the Bund and within easy reach of central Shanghai. We booked a Bund-view room, and the view added greatly to the stay. The hotel has a grand and elegant atmosphere, with a more traditional and classic style of luxury than the modern hotels we usually prefer. Nevertheless, everything felt refined, well maintained and appropriately luxurious. Our room was exceptionally spacious, immaculately clean and very comfortable, with plenty of room to relax. It was also sufficiently elevated and quiet, allowing us to sleep very well despite the central location. The room and hotel offered the high-quality amenities and facilities expected from a five-star property. Check-in was warm and welcoming. Late checkout was initially unavailable, but the staff continued trying and ultimately managed to arrange it for us, which we greatly appreciated. Every employee we encountered was friendly, professional and attentive. The hotel is in a premium category, but we felt the location, room size, Bund view and overall service justified the price. We had no meaningful negatives during our stay and would readily recommend it to travellers looking for classic luxury and a Hilton property in central Shanghai.

besides location, there's very little reason to stay here. this hotel is a four-star at best, disguised by a six-star name. this hotel is run like a four star. The hotel lobby is not well air conditioned, the executive lounge or what they call library lounge is terribly air conditioned, it doesn't feel comfortable at all to sit there. most public spaces are not well air conditioned, like you're walking through a three-star hotel. In the July heat and humidity of Shanghai, walking into any mall feels better. this hotel is an embarrassment to bear the Waldorf Astoria name, maybe this is China. The service is ordinary, The breakfast was good but should be expected, and it does not reflect a six-star. now we're going to talk about the rooms, and this may be a china-wide problem which will make me think twice about visiting China in the future. The government has a mandate to not allow temperatures below 24c. and the air conditioning system is done in such a way that it doesn't properly cool, nor does it extract sufficient moisture out of the air. this makes for an incredibly bad sleeping experience, I was up until 5:00 a.m. tossing attorney. never again will I pay six star prices, to stay at this facility. it's a joke. The next morning I went to pudong, and visited the Ritz-Carlton, they seem to operate much better, brand new facility, six star like service, I certainly know where I will not be staying next time. I understand this is China but if you're charging me six star prices, I expect six star service, period, know ifs, ands or buts. ask for the location Yes it's great you walk straight out onto the bund, but the thing is the view from the hotel itself is not that great, it's blocked by buildings so you don't have a full view anyway, you'd be better off staying somewhere else and just make a short Subway ride over and enjoy the view.

Superb location. Friendly team looked after us for a week so well. The reception staff, housekeeping staff and especially the restaurant staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. This hotel is beautiful in fact we have never stayed in a room as nice as ours was, in any country before. We could find no fault with the cleanliness or noise level. Both were excellent. My husband had a massage in the spa and found it excellent.

Location Perfect on the Bund side. The traffic is bad around it but it's convenient to everything. Entrance The taxi entrance is in the back and there is one on the Bund. The one behind is the main entrance. Nice people and efficient. Front Desk Incredibly nice and professional. Gave HHonors recognition and helped w a great stay. Room Exquisite. Modern and well appointed. We had a view of the Bund. Make sure you have a high floor. Bathroom and everything was spacious and perfect. Restaurants Several w different themes and a high end exec lounge. Conclusion One of our favorite hotels anywhere in the world.

Swimming pool is great. Especially the female swimming staff was very nice and helpful.

야경은 홍콩보다 더 멋졌고 위치가 아주 좋았습니다.

데스크에 수건 가져달라고 전화 했는데 응대가 잘 이루어지지 않았고 침대 아래에 먼지가 쌓여 있어 청결상태가 아쉬웠습니다.

江景套房是正對外灘黃浦江經典景色 上海三件套毫無死角 服務很好，check-in後有送小點心，傍晚也有夜床服務 一切都很棒 : )

Stayed here from 6/29-7/4. Everything was great and the location was excellent! The cleaning lady,陳小春, was very friendly and detailed. She let us feel like at home! We would definitely stay here again when we come back in the future!

Hotel di lusso in posizione comoda per raggiungere il Bund e le vicine attrazioni nei quartieri limitrofi ed accedere alla grande viabilità di distribuzione della città (il trasporto con taxi è poi ridicolmente economico). Camera molto ampia, confortevole, magari capitata con vista diretta non eccezionale (area dismessa attigua). Letto sontuoso e comodo, bagno ampio. Colazione fin troppo varia, in un ambiente dispersivo e freddo, più che fresco.

Per avere le bevande calde al momento della colazione occorre ordinarle ed il personale impiega parecchio a servirle (praticamente quando uno ha terminato la colazione) per i troppi clienti presenti e, talora, perché se ne dimentica. In reception sono gentili, ma il concierge trovato è risultato poco collaborativo.

The breakfast was good, but the quality of the food seems to have declined in the last couple years.

The hotel is older, the wiring and the switches have problems here and there. Also the appliances in the rooms are not checked daily. Such as our coffee maker does not work.

Обман. На booking заявлено, что это историческое задание, которое находится на набережной. Но это не так. Очень были разочарованы этим фактом.

Прекрасный отель! Чисто, хорошие завтраки, приветливый персонал. Очень красивый старый корпус, куда можно прогуляться. Великолепно! Так же понравился спа, Отличный басейн и зоны отдыха, в бассейне всегда находится спасатель.

Была какая-то сложность с обслуживанием номеров, слишком долго доставляли, один раз вообще не увидели наш заказ, который я сделала онлайн и после того как я начала звонить, искать, его принесли только через час и частями. Нужно, конечно , доработать этот момент.

We had the most outstanding stay at the Waldorf on the Bund in Shanghai! The buildings, rooms, decor were beautifully done and very comfortable. Jason and the concierge team were extremely helpful with dining reservations, shopping tips, and transportation from the hotel. Jonny and Roy provided excellent service helping my elderly father at the pool. The pool has a lovely view of historic buildings and was very peaceful in the mornings. Everything was well stocked - exactly what you'd expect from a luxury hotel. Out of our stays in Asia, we enjoyed this Waldorf the most. Will definitely be back!

Stayed here for business and loved the room, amazing deco, incredible views of the Bund and really nice breakfast too. I needed a room earlier and the only way was to get an upgrade which was a little annoying but the room was really lovely

We had a girls trip to Shanghai with a full itinerary of fine dining, touring, having clothes made, and even photos done. Our trip was made next level through the expert help and warm advice of our concierge Jimmy. Whether it was reservations at Cafe Louis - accompanied by a fun tour of the Louis Vuitton Ship or dinner at Prada RongZhai or jazz at the Peace Hotel - Jimmy was able to help us. And then for simple family-style Shanghainese dinner - he found us a Michelin bib gourmand that fit the spot. Yuyuan Garden tea house. What stood out was his helping us with handwritten cards and guidance for each of our forays out. This was such a memorable trip!!!

Our room was next to a service room of which the door banged excessively as the cleaners entered and exited. Not ideal if you are trying to rest.

From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly attentive and made me feel genuinely welcome. The hotel itself is a beautiful historic building, full of charm and character, and the location couldn’t have been better — perfectly situated right on the Bund.

Large hotel a block in from the Bund. Very popular with cruise passengers and Russian tourists. Large marble lobby refreshingly cool on a sultry day. Pay up for a room facing the river and specify that it's away from the adjacent 1970's era office block that impedes some views. Suites attractive and turn down service efficient. Difficult to match the views across the river towards Pudong at night. Major positive a great concierge ( and team ) who knows the town and can get reservations at otherwise sold out restaurants. Two things let the place down . Main hotel restaurant is a large oval shaped dining space that's noisy, crowded and where the food is expensive and institutional in its mediocrity. Getting a coffee at breakfast painfully slow. Check in staff also seem to be rushed off their feet. It took 35 minutes to get registered even though I'd done it online before arrival. Conclusion : Good location but more Hilton than Waldorf.

Stayed here again in April 2026 after last staying here 10 years ago. The location is undoubtably great, being on the Bund and within walking distance to Nanjing Road. But there just isn’t anything else about this hotel that makes me want to come back. The front desk and door people try their best, but seem overwhelmed by the number of people they need to serve. Not their fault - the customer to staff ratios at these stations are quite high here. Biggest let down is the breakfast experience. The food selection is surprisingly limited. The baked goods - pastries and bread - were simply inedible. It was stale and was as if though somebody was making bread for the first time based simply on someone’s description of bread, rather than actually having any training in baking. I cannot believe one of the chefs tasted it and thought it was ok to serve. This low quality was consistent throughout my 4 night stay. The afternoon tea was also surprisingly disappointing. Despite its beautiful presentation, it was essentially various sweet mousses all of similar taste and texture, that didn’t really demonstrate much dessert making ability. The scones were comically small and weren’t of the correct texture, and were accompanied by an even more comically small serving of cream. Again, it was as if though someone was putting together an afternoon tea set based on someone’s description else’s description of it. If you’re simply looking for a place to stay that is convenient to get to the tourist spots, the you’ll be fine here. If you’re looking for a great, hospitable experience and memorable moments, it might be hard to find here. This feels generic and in many ways, not different to the many business hotels (eg intercontinentals, hyatts, Conrads and Hiltons) dotted across this city.
