Great location and looks lovely
The bed wasn’t comfy
Lovely old building and food excellent. Friendly helpful staff
Wifi in room rubbish. Pillows flat but given better when asked.
Lovely place, friendly staff and a perfect location.
Historisk
Renhold, service og kvalitet på rommene var ikke ok. Mange vanskelige trapper.
Staff were exceptionally good
Somewhat tired rooms. Needs new mattresses
The staff were very nice. The location was excellent and the room itself fit my needs. The rather old and crooked nature of the place actually made me like it more.
It was a bit noisy at night but that can’t be helped on Saturday and Friday nights in the centre of town
Historic coaching Inn in central Gloucester. Staff very friendly. Room clean.
Historic building and courtyard terracing was unique. Good location in Gloucester centre.
No ventilation in the room and windows were locked shut - luckily the weather was not too hot but it could have been very uncomfortable if the weather was much hotter. Fan provided but was very noisy during the night.
All was good, comfy, clean. The view of the next buildings roof was not pleasant but was the only setback in my whole stay. The breakfast was the best, everything cooked perfect and served quickly. Staff were excellent. The hotel itself was fascinating and full of history. Would stay again.
The view from the room
It has a pub. Friendly staff.
My room overlooked the street and it could get noisy at night.
Good location. Interesting old building, but with problems being used as a hotel in this day and age
Toilet did not flush. Advised to use Kings Walk car park, in which our car was broken into. Did not stay the second night that we had booked and paid for because of the damage to our car and not knowing where we could park the car safely in Gloucester overnight
Friendly staff. Characterful hotel. Not pretentious in any way. Just my sort of place.
Friendly and helpful staff.
Nothing to dislike.
Location, price , staff very good, great breakfast 👌 its like some thing out of Shakespeare great character, not for people who pick holes in accommodation as in not double glazing or air con , if you want that pick something else but if you want history this is the one. the walls and floor air all out if your builder etc 😀 but adds to the character great fun like a wonky house in a fair,
The place is tired all over, just had new management see what comes? But it was built in 1400 hundreds 😀 but good value for money, clean beds, lovely staff, good breakfast 😋 don't expect straight lines , walls floors doors etc its medieval, its straight out of09 Shakespeare, the gulls and pigeons are on day break but that is every where is it not? Great character 👏
The history off the inn was amazing
Didn't like the shower couldn't get the balance of the temperature either freezing or scalding . Couldn't open the windows
The character of the building was outstanding. The staff were very polite and helpful, despite only one member of staff working extremely hard behind the bar. !!
The environment around the area outside the establishment was very uncomfortable, with quite a few unsavoury characters wandering around the area.
The pub was really good and wonderful history! The staff were brilliant. It was really quirky pub and myself and my daughter loved it.
The parking! Booking.com recommended to stay in the Kings walk car park. So we parked there. It was clear about the cost of parking and the staff in the hotel said they don't cover anything to cover the car park!? Which booking.com did say that they did!! Also I Would NOT recommend people park there. My vehicle was broken into last night and it absolutely ruined our weekend and has cost me a lot of money!! I had to drive back to South Wales with no window. I had to wait two hours for police forensics to turn up! I found out that three other vehicles were broken into last night!! Do Not recommend to park in that car park. I will be emailing The New Inn too.
A real sense of history with this place. Love the courtyard and great central location.
Needs clear signage of where to check in.
Nice bar, staff and location. Perfect for a stay in Gloucester.
Only thing was poor wifi connection in the room and birds nest outside of the window.
Great staff location and character.
The bathroom light switch, chest of drawers were broken, kettle lead not reaching the socket.
Location was next to event I was going to. Cooked bfreakfast was also enjoyable. Room was basic but had the main facilities. Good value for money.
Did not have any real ales but there were pubs around the corner that did. Stairs could be slippery after rain but it did not rain.
La posizione
Perfecte locatie. Bijzondere maar werkelijk oude Inn.
Good size room, friendly and efficient staff, lovely breakfast.
The gap under the door that let in light all night from the landing outside.
Historic building in a great central location for Cathedral. Friendly helpful staff.
Building and room in desperate need of renovation which appeared to be underway.
The courtyard was fascinating, and is well worth visiting for a drink because it is a beautifully preserved example of the type of place that Shakespeare would have taken his troupe of players.
I don't blame the New Inn for this, but rather Roomsbooked/Booking.com whom I consider were blatantly price-gouging. I booked my room online and although I considered it to be expensive at the time, I thought it must be pretty special. I was charged GBP383 for 2 nights in what turned out to be a poky, hot, run-down single room without even a glass for water. That is an outrageous price! It was up two flights of rickety stairs and along endless narrow corridors to the very back of the hotel with an outlook over a drab lightwell, where the "free" WiFi didn't work and there was not even enough room to put the suitcase off the floor. The blurb said that the hotel was full of ghosts but it would have been a lucky ghost that fitted into this room as there barely room for me. I then discovered that on the website of the New Inn itself, the most expensive suite in the place, equipped with a four-poster bed etc, cost less that I had been charged. To add insult to injury, I had to pay for my rather ordinary breakfast. Of course, I knew that breakfast was not included but at the price I was paying, I could have expected to have been served a full English breakfast by Shakespeare himself. I have sent emails to both booking companies and received no reply, let alone any refund. I will certainly never book anything through booking.com again.
The promise of being surrounded by a sense of history was fulfilled and exceeded. The property is operational on modern terms, but the 15th C envelopes you at every turn. It was wonderful! And the staff was helpful, warm. and friendly.
Perfect location
Process straight forward
The New Inn is situated in the centre part of the town. Was only 10 minute walk from Railway Station. Short walk to the Quays and the Cathedral. Staff was welcoming and the bar looked clean. Our room was basic but kept to the character of the building. We ate twice in the bar and it was nice.
We were aware that all rooms were situated upstairs but as the steps were outside we felt that in bad wet weather they could be dangerous as they were very steep. However, there is a sign warning people of this. Our bathroom was very basic i.e. did not include any shelves to put toiletries on. The extractor fan was very old and noisy. No wall handles in the shower that was situated above the bath, so it made it difficult getting in and out without slipping.
Room was good and clean, maybe a chair to sit at would be good
The staff
Nothing!
Just booked in for one night and went back to the hotel for a drink at 8pm on the saturday night and there were about 50 travellers outside with their horses. Very noisy drinking from the bar and very intimidating we wanted a drink but went straight to bed, needless to say we couldn't sleep for hours as our windows woudn"t shut properly Give this hotel a wide berth at the weekend!
The room and the town centre location
Shower and TV are a little hard to work
I love sleeping in this ancient inn. I'll happily forfeit modern luxury for antiquarian charm
Just one small complaint, the curtains had been left open in this east-facing room during a heatwave, which meant the room was so hot when I entered it, it hit like a wave. The best protocol during a heatwave is to close curtains to block out the sun, which otherwise accumulates over the course of the day. That said, they did provide a large fan.
Location, medieval inn in the center of the city
Smelly bathroom with broken shower, very bad sound insulation not even double glazing in noisy city center and no sound insulation to other rooms, light entering early morning, uneven floor including the bed severely leaning on one side
Ci hanno trovato un parcheggio sicuro per la moto
Niente
Location and ambience. Bhilding and historic interest.
Recption staff were pre-occupied and finished other tasks before even acknowledging guests were waiting. This was poorcustomer service. Bar staff much more helpful.
Historic place lovely scenery well looked after and a great central location. Nice bar and the breakfast was fantastic.
Nothing to dislike.
bed was comfy ,the history of the place, the breakfast was good value ,good location, we had a good evening meal also
the drinks are expensive £7.50 for a pint of lager is quite steep
The location. The room fan.
The showers were difficult to use. The window did not open. It did not have a fridge.
Lovely quirky old building. Well located in city centre
Good breakfast but let down by low quality sausages. Hotel recommended nearby overnight parking but did not give full details. You need to know that you can pay for day of arrival at the pay and display machine but to pay in advance for the next morning you need to go to a website.
It was a charming Tudor like establishment, the staff were nice
It needs a bit of investment,a few quid spent in the bar and the carpets replaced would do the job!,it was very hot while we were there,my friend asked me did it have air conditioning,I said hardly,it was built between 1420-1450,he’s an idiot,I won’t be bringing him on holidays anymore!🙄
Very helpful staff. Amazing building, and position.
First room, shower unusable, very poor decor, dirty window, WiFi not possible. Very small, no chair. Second room, light not working,
Quirky, friendly staff, food.
Stairs. Needs a general freshen up. Staff very busy and not enough on shift.
It was a very old building
Not very clean cobwebs everywhere very uneven floor
every thing satisfactorynothing
nothing
The courtyard was fascinating
I was charged GBP383 for 2 nights in a poky, hot, single room without even a glass for water. That is an outrageous price.
The history of the building is awesome. The staff were very friendly and helpful We would use the New Inn again for a short stay.
The rooms are a little dated but it’s a very old property so it was to be expected. The steps up to the Rooms are quite steep for people with mobility issues.
parking
Nothing !
Shabby & dirty rooms everything needs upgrading , dressing table and no chair it’s really grim . No security at all loads of travellers / gypsy men decending in the bar area causing mayhem 2 police officers arrived to talk to them about horses they had left outside on the street unattended they were then later fighting outside between themselves Couldn’t wait till morning to get out of there !
the choice of breakfast very limited and not immediately obvious or available.,the staff were sometimes helpful but some staff weren't. the tables were tiny the coffee crude and everything had to be priced separately . one had to order everything unseen.
the poor quality of the breakfast .
Breakfast excellent, clearly freshly cooked to order
The building, location, comfy bed, friendly staff.
Due I think to low water pressure the shower did not work properly I think when others were using it. Toilet not flushing ( a long wait for flush button to spring back) Both issues were reported, and whilst the staff were friendly, the communication (handover) could improve. I coped with the bathroom issue but feel had the room been occupied by 3 people it would have been a nightmare. Just to note I was offered a change of room but as I was out all day I declined
Vieil hôtel plein de charme
Central location and fairly cheap
Room stuffy, shower not working and cracked wash basin
The building
The bed was torture . The carpets very old and yukki. Loud at night .
Right in the centre of Gloucester
Wonderful heritage location in the heart of the city. Friendly staff, nice bar and good breakfast.
Nothing. Those with mobility issues will struggle with the stairs. It is a very old building steeped in history and wonderfully eccentric. About as far from the beige blandness of a premier inn as you can get!
historische Bausubstanz, toller Innenhof, zentrale Lage
Fenster könnte nicht geöffnet werden
Very clean, comfortable. Had a fan which was a bonus as weather very hot
Did not realise room would be up 2 flights of stairs. Difficult to carry case and wasn't offered any help
My partner was wrongly accused of hurting another resident who was staying there and was arrested, no further action was took and the person in question did it meant to doing the attack
I would like Booking.com to get in touch with me and remove any bad Remove any bad character references during our stay with Booking.com as this is a Conflict of character
Everything, the new inn is the greatest inn I've ever experienced, primo spot I was totally there.
I love the new inn
In Town centre near car park.
Rooms are very basic but clean, decor is dated and corridors dark and dingy
Very olde worldie loads of character
Tv would not work properly
Staff were friendly and helpful
Nothing really, later checkout maybe til 11 would be better than 10 but that’s about it
Location good breakfast OK.
Rooms very tired and dated old and creaky.
Clean convenient friendly and accommodating staff, great value for money.
Location for the concert
Toilet flush wasn't working properly. I had a shower which was over the bath. Getting out of the bath I leaned on the rail at the side of the bath to get out and the rail collapsed causing me to fall heavily on to the floor. I am bruised and and have difficulty raising my arm as I fell on to my shoulder. I rang the hotel and told them.A lady answered the phone and she didn't even ask how I was she just said thank you for leaving us know about the rail it was being sorted. 🙁
I liked the authentic atmosphere, the staff were friendly and the room was comfortable
I found the steps up to the first floor a bit steep. I also would have liked a chair or stool in the room
Location Quirkiness of this hotel
Friendly, helpful staff and great experience
All good!
Location of hotel was excellent, room was clean & beds comfortable.
Stiflingly hot in the room - one tiny fan & window wouldn't open far. Rest of hotel seemed cool, but corridor outside our room was also ridiculously warm.
We stayed in the UK for 2 weeks, stayed at multiple inns and hotels, and this was by far our favorite! The room was huge, with a gorgeous bathroom that had a luxurious clawfoot tub! The whole place was simply amazing, and a short walk to the amazing Gloucester Cathedral.
The only complaint is something no one could really control, which is the loud birds outside. They wouldn't quit, day or night. But that's something no one has control over, really. That, and there was still leftover water in the tea kettle when we first arrived.
Excellent central location with quirky rooms. Good value for money and a nice breakfast.
Fascinating building in the centre of Gloucester. Steeped in history. Staff were were great. I stayed in a single on the second floor and for the price and given the age of the property couldn't really fault it. We had a few beers in the courtyard in the evening and a great breakfast in the morning.
The building itself is quite something
our room was very hot and it was´nt possible to open the windows
Looks a very historic Building.
The Shower was inconsistent ie kept varying between Hot & Cold and very poor Water Pressure.
They took £100 security deposit which I have never had to do in any other hotel and I have stayed in more than 100 ten days later I am still waiting for them to return it and now they are asking me to prove it came out of my account by sending them a copy of my bank statement. Not really the best way to treat paying customers.
It’s a beautiful atmospheric, historic property.
The room was very very tired, and there was an extractor right outside our room, which kept us awake. Staff, however, were lovely and the state of the room was reflected in the price. This was a last minute booking, were I to stay again I would book further in advance and choose a batter room.
Excellent location. Nice bar.
Not a lot
Amazing historical building with a beautiful courtyard. Perhaps new ownership will get a heritage grant to do full justice to such a historic gem. Staff very friendly, enjoyable evening in the courtyard, excellent breakfast
All good, sadly no bottled beer yet empty fridges so drank elseware Breakfast good value not good for overnight parking
Beautiful, quaint old coaching inn. Very comfortable rooms and very welcoming. Lots of facilities for eating and drinking. We will definitely be back
Nothing
Wonderful historic old coaching inn. Excellent location. Shannon gave us a warm welcome and was more than helpful.
Nothing
The room was not clean, the most terrible was the bath room shut all around the bowl just terrible.
The smell
When i arrived the person in charge Demanded i pay £100 as a guarantee I had already paid for the room
Everything
Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was quirky and comfortable. Food good quality and brought quickly.
Fan system outside the room (kitchen ventilation?) running on and off all night which was very loud. Corridor smelt strongly of stale smoke.
The history
Food prices were a little high
Boa localização, taberna com história, funcionários simpáticos, quarto com espaço, casa de banho enorme
O chão estava muito sujo, quarto gasto e móveis velhos e partidos
We have stayed at new inn many times before and due to a medical condition always have a room on first floor ..on arrival we were told room was on 2nd floor ..due to lung condition I am not able to climb 2 flights of stairs ..we wer then offered twin room ..they then offered ur a room on first floor ...we were told it wasn't very well decorated. We agreed to take that room. The tv did not work the staff told us they would get maintenance to sort it ...But it wasn't sorted .. didn't feel member of staff were helpfull.
Staff member not very helpful
The staff are good
It’s old and in need of repair
The people working here are very friendly and helpful. Sorting out my lost property was very much appreciated. The building is amazing I hope it can carry on successfully.
It's a very old building and the rooms are a bit tired but I liked it.
Lovely property with plenty of character Great location, close to train and bus stations and shops Lovely pub downstairs
It was very hot and rooms are a bit dated and could do with some refurbishment
Room was lovely and comfortable though lacking chairs to sit down. Period property.
Noisy outside at night. Courtyard a smoking/vaping area. restaurant closed, only pub food available, although Docks not far
