The Railway Hotel Worthing

Location was good. Staff were friendly. Cleanliness, all areas was good. Room size including en-suite was good. Beds were comfortable. The bar area was well stocked with lots of choices of beers

The room window was facing the courtyard with a fence between. Had to close curtains early to muffle out the noise and the lighting of the courtyard. Luckily, it wasn't that warm that a lot of people sat outside. Breakfast options were mainly hot, but tasty. Would've liked a bit of fruit and cereal, perhaps a yoguart?. Sourdough toast hard to cut through. Toast and jam would be good but not sourdough. Not everyone likes a cooked breakfast

We had an accessible room which was very good. It was large,clean and had a very comfortable bed. The meals were good in the bar and we enjoyed the quiz night.

As there is no car park that was a bit of an issue but our daughter who was driving managed to park locally in a side street.

The staff were wonderful, easy going, very helpful. We had a defunct curtain which wasn’t cooperating and we asked if we can have someone look at it- Kate was amazing she moved us into another room no questions asked , upgraded more like and we just had a great stop over. Very clean and I’ve been to quite a few hotels and there always dusty bits etc but I have to say it was spotless! Definitely would go again and recommend to anyone - oh lively pub action as well which doesn’t interfere with sleeping accommodation at all!

We had a wonderful stay at The Railway Hotel! The location couldn't be better, literally right next to the train station. The staff were lovely, welcoming, and incredibly polite throughout. Our room was great, with a very comfortable bed, a fan provided, and a spacious bathroom stocked with all the necessities. The TV had plenty of channels and streaming services, and we really appreciated the generous tea and coffee setup (a special thank you for the oat milk sachets!). The food and beer in the pub downstairs were top-notch, with delicious breakfasts to start the day. The live music on Friday evening was a great touch and made for a brilliant atmosphere. Worthing is a lovely seaside town and this was a great spot for our trip. Overall, definitely highly recommended!

As a light sleeper, I found it a little noisy on Friday night, but a pair of earplugs saved the day and it’s completely understandable for a vibrant local pub.

A historic and interesting looking building. Particularly impressed by large well furnished bedroom alongside stylish bathroom. Staff very helpful with a secure system for keeping luggage safe on check out day. Breakfast excellent and cleaning to a high standard.

Minor point was lack of air con - probably not permitted as building may be listed - but hotel did their best in the fierce August heatwave to keep guests cool, via powerful fans.

Such a lovely stay at the Railway and only issue for me was I couldn’t stay longer! Bed was so comfortable really clean fluffy towels. Bathroom was stunning and have actually taken pictures to recreate it in my house. Was concerned it was going to be noisy because of the pub downstairs but I felt I was in the middle of now where no sound from anywhere.

The service from the staff was exceptional - I was greated warmly and was invited to leave my baggae with them as I'd arrived before the usual check-in of 4pm. The place has been well finished, it's well located, the bed was comfortable, and the breakfast and the coffee were wonderful. Top marks all round.

We were in the midst of a heat wave at 32 degrees - and that's tough to prepare for, and is exceptional in its own right. They did their best by putting a fan in my room (203), but being on the top floor - all the heat rose and it was just too much, to get a good night's sleep. I've still given them top marks because everything else was wonderful - but they'd benefit from adding air con to compensate for those hot summers we're getting now - but don't let that put you off.

You came highly recommended, in the first place, Appon arrival we were made very welcome. The hotel room was very clean , the bed was lovely and comfortable I got a good nights sleep. The food was excellent both the included breakfast and the food we ordered from the bar , I would like to give a special mention to Shaun and Molly both served us our food and drink , both were friendly and chatty , indeed all the staff are a credit to the hotel , the food portions were quite generous too I will definitely be booking another stay at the railway hotel , later this year , probably in the autumn , I have also fallen in love with Worthing the town itself.. lovely seaside place just like the iconic Railway hotel itself.

To be honest , nothing was negative absolutely nothing bad at all even the public toilets were spotless.

The bathroom was handicap-friendly so there was no separate shower space - which meant it was all wet. The entrance/check in is the middle of a pub and reeks. No view - our window had a view of a side street.

Room and bathroom are big

Doors ( main door plus room door) were difficult to be opened and there are only hotel staff during working hours which means no one there on the weekend and public holidays. The hotel use the password/pin to entry the hotel and the room, however based on the pattern, you can easily guess other rooms their password which is no safe. Hope the hotel update their passwords regularly. The bed is too soft and there is no kettle in the room.

What a great value hotel this is. We used our stay as a base for a Brighton weekend, only a 25 minute drive away. A hotel, a pub and a restaurant all in one….directly across the road from the train station and a convenient car park at the end of the road, which was so cheap aswell. Our room was very spacious with lots of light, bed was clean and comfy, pedestal fan, tv, wardrobe, tea/coffee facilities. Nice bathroom and towels were great. Decor of the hotel was Victorian/vintage….love, love, love. The food was very, very good, especially the cooked breakfast and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Would return 100% and would definitely recommend.

The hotel itself is lovely, clean and well looked after, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. I’ve stayed here many times and usually had a very good experience.

Unfortunately, both times I’ve stayed on the ground floor it’s been very noisy early in the morning. On this stay there was repeated banging on doors, loud door slamming and shouting/swearing in the corridor around 6am which made me feel quite uncomfortable and unsafe. I also personally didn’t find the zip and link bed very comfortable.

The room is needs updating but in general it is cosy and nice size. The bed is very comfortable, the view was nice.

The shower needs some updating, the lamp needs to be checked and lightbulbs changed.

Very grateful to Kat, Jamie & Molly for their extreme kindness when my husband was unexpectedly admitted to Worthing Hospital while we were on holiday from South Africa. One night stay ended up to 4 nights where I felt at ‘home’. My room was very comfortable & modern. Dinner was delicious and coffee the best! Thank you!!

I think I overpaid on Booking.com, paying £188 for a room (family room ) and seeing rooms advertised for around £70 on Google.

Fantastic, service, food and hotel rooms. We stayed 1 night, ate the exceptional roast and a delicious breakfast. The hotel room was spacious light and immaculately clean. All the staff were super friendly (Kat, Holly and Aga deserve a special mention) we will definitely stay again. Highly recommend

I liked the comfort of the room and the patience of the staff.

Being on the ground floor next to the hallway doors I could hear people come in and out of the early hours of the morning.

Our room was EXTREMELY noisy due to location directly above the busy pub. Obviously a bar is mentioned in the listing - however it’s slightly misleading as this a lively pub that plays music and serves drinks until midnight on weekends. There is no clear mention or information about this in the booking details or even a note about potential noise disturbance which you would usually expect from pub/tavern style rooms. Probably fine if you’re out for the night but if you’re not then bring some earplugs!

We only stayed for one night which was such a shame as the whole experience was one of the very best stays I’ve ever had in the UK. The staff were lovely and welcoming, especially Cat who made us laugh from the second we got in there. Check in was seamless, it’s a 15 minute walk to the beach through the lovely town, the room was lovely, quiet, bed was comfortable, showers were amazing pressure and hot. There was nothing to fault and in the morning we were greeted with a coffee and allowed to keep our bags behind the bar whilst we did some strolling to the beach. Amazing stay, whenever I can I’ll be back. I’d be back just for Cat but especially for the hotel in general! Thanks guys!

Everything was great. The room was comfortable, all the staff members were helpful and friendly, the location couldn't be beat as we came in and left by train. We easily walked into town and along the seaside promenade. Breakfast was very good. We had a nice light lunch at the hotel on our departure day.

Nice spacious room and bathroom, large comfortable bed.

Room was a bit cramped for the price. No chair, just a desk stool for 2 people. Limited space for clothes, just a few hangers on a rack. Shower worked fine but was rather small, not easy to get in and out and turn round. Nowhere to hang hand towels anywhere near the sink - even a couple of hooks on the wall would help! Water from tap in sink very odd: the "cold" water ran very hot for maybe 5 minutes before it cooled down to actual cold. Breakfast was O.K. but limited - no fruit, no cereal except granola, no separate yoghurt - would have preferred a buffet, which is more usual these days.

The room was perfect, well decorated and the bed was extremely comfortable with spotless, high quality bedding. The tv was fabulous and had every app we could possibly want. The bathroom was perfect with an excellent shower, good quality towels which appeared brand new and a lovely selection of toiletries. We had a hairdryer and good selection of teas, coffee, milk and biscuits in the room and a decent wardrobe. I couldn’t fault the room. We also had dinner at the hotel and breakfast the following morning. We were so impressed with the quality and presentation of everything we had. The most outstanding feature of this place though is the staff. I don’t think I’ve met a friendlier, more welcoming bunch anywhere. This is a gem of a place and I look forward to returning.
