the location was perfect for my one night stay and so close to the train station .the room was clean and cosy .I did not have breakfast but it was nice to have the kettle in the room for a cup of coffee or tea.
Location
Room 110 smelt damp. There was water on the floor in the bathroom. The sink didn’t empty properly. I reported the issue but continued for the whole stay.
Proximity to King's Lynn amenities and attractions - right on Tuesday Market Place and close to bus station. There was a nice lounge and bar area.
TV needed tuning, no hot water in the morning (to be fair, this was fixed by the time we'd had breakfast, but too late for showers - good job I didn't want to wash my hair). Fairly basic room. Second room shower tray had filled up to almost overflowing.......it was reported so hope the drainage was sorted. Staff weren't particularly welcoming - no smiles, except from those on Reception. Bar staff and morning staff almost sullen (except for the young man who was pleasant) Breakfast was a buffet - go and get your own mug of tea (a pet hate - please give me a tea pot!!!), boring bread for toast and no extra choices such as eggs benedict which we got elsewhere. Little in the way of fruit or marmalade. Two of us asked for poached eggs, which were nice, but it wasn't obvious you could have them.

Staff friendly; 3 small.plates menu was adequate fare for a pensioner couple.
Breakfast staff overworked. Took a long time to replenish bacon and beans. Fried eggs hard fried and oily.
location
to busy to get an evening dinner!
Central location. Comfortable bed and clean bathroom. Breakfast was good with several options.
There was a broken window in the corridor outside our room.
Excellent staff, great service
We were not aware how much walking we had to do to get to our room, either walking up and down stairs with nothing to hold on to, or using the lift and tackling an obstacle course.
Beautifully furnished room
Breakfast tea and coffee were poor
Place was friendly , breakfast good.
No natural light in room. Had window that was frosted glass that looked out into a wall.
Loved every minute of our stay from the word go We felt welcomed and staff couldn’t do enough to help breakfast amazing
Good location
Lack of hot water for a shower
Staff were really friendly. Location was great, rooms were comfortable.
Lift was being repaired so had to use stairs. But we were informed beforehand so it wasn’t a surprise.
Check in was simple. Breakfast was a help yourself offer and it was excellent, the team in the breakfast room were attentive and very helpful. Bed was very comfortable and a great nights sleep was had. Shower hot and powerful.
Lack of plug sockets No charging points by bed
Lovely breakfast and the hotel itself is very nice and in a great location. We just had a n issue with the shower as it was very powerless, it was like standing in the rain to try and get the water on your body! Bed comofrtable too.
Nothing bad, just the issue with the shower
Clean
Staff. Facilities
Location, staff were all lovely albeit one waitress in the dining room just chewed gum throughout which was extremely unprofessional. Food was very good also. Beds very comfy.
Our friends who came with us were put in room 200. They didn’t sleep all night as they were right next to the lift which was really loud. This room should be for storage only. NEVER STAY IN ROOM 200!
The restaurant and meal were excellent
Lots. The room was cramped with little room for suitcases. Essentially its size was suitable for a single bed not a double bed. The double was hard against the wall making exiting the bed difficult for the person against wall. The shower head was held up with a cable tie and could not be adjusted in height or direction. The mattress was not comfortable
Was a lovely stay and really close to everything it was just a shame the check in staff didn’t make me aware I had to park my car at the back of the hotel other than that the hotel and rooms were wonderful and clean
was just a shame the check in staff didn’t make me aware I had to park my car At at the back of the hotel which would cover the £15 they charge you to park you car! I let the staff know my car was parked out front and at no point did they tell me the £15 I was paying for parking was only valid if I parked at the back of the hotel, which then cause me getting a £25 fine from the council! The hotel did reimburse me the £15 but there lack of instruction still caused me to be £10 out of pocket!
Beautiful building , staff very nice and helpful, clean room and very close to the theatre
Everything
Very clean and comfortable. Staff helpful. Storage of luggage helped with our weekend. Ideally a second bedside locker would be good, but this is a small quibble.
Situation and facilities.
£15 per night for car parking was excessive.

Second stay with Surya hotels in King's Lynn. Lovely hotel ,staff very accomerdating and helpful, room clean and comfortable, but room 400 next to lift ,and as being treated for Cancer need my sleep ,with difficulty it can be a problem, so we have booked weekends away when I'm able to travel . We would love to stay again but not in that room !!!! OK we only book a standard double but expect to sleep ! At 3am the lift was active and woke us both up !! Not a memorable visit for all the wrong reasons. With only able to book short stays for how ever long I can means they have to be memorable and after staying there with our love of local history and architecture Kings Lynn fits the bill. Please give time to read this as for people with illness times away are precious. We will stay again unfortunately not sure when . But it was a lovely stay at an extremely likable historic hotel. Thank you.
Noise from lift !!!!!!!
Location
Although it’s advertised that check in is after 3pm, it was obvious to us that rooms were available before this, but the staff were certain that they would not allow anyone to get the rooms earlier, even though we were just in the bar area waiting.
Great location, 3rd floor room overlooked St. Nicholas' chapel and port area, which was pleasant. Comfortable room, even better if soundproofing improved. Original building, ground floor nice and atmospheric. Good decor in restaurant- had breakfast and have to say quality of produce and standard of cooking/ presentation were top notch..
Could do with a bit refurbishment in newer wing..
Location was very good
Room was hot, stuffy and tiny. No air conditioning. In poor state of repair with skirting boards coming adrift, grotty bathroom, noise from adjacent building coming through open window etc. Staff were not helpful and didn’t seem to know enough about the town to supply directions when asked. My husband’s jacket got soaked whilst over the back of his chair during breakfast due to a leak in the ceiling above. The member of staff who we alerted showed no concern whatsoever..,
Gode værelser og særdeles fin morgenmad
Great location
During the heatwave the lack of air con was greatly missed
Great location, friendly staff, lovely room. Excellent breakfast.
Nothing
Breakfast was good full English pretty tasty.
The elevator is on other side of the thin wall and is in desperate need of repair it was crunching and crashing it’s doors open and closed making so much noise in the room we might as well have slept in the shaft space although to say we slept is a joke 6:00-23:30 that bloody lift banging on. This is in the newer rear of the hotel apart from that elevator the walls are paper thin and we could hear doors banging all the way down the hall and conversations we rather hadn’t. If you decide to stay there I suspect all the newer rooms at the rear will be similar we were on 1st floor room 100 avoid it if you want any sleep
Nice staff. Good location. Nice facilities.
Bed was supposed to be a double but was two singles pushed together. And was hard. Not very comfortable. Shower and basin water pressure very poor.
Very central. Ideal for 3day break visiting the town and surrounding areas.
Clean , warm and friendly
Too hot in the bedroom.
Great central location, friendly helpful staff and secure cycle stirage
Town centre location
It was all good
hotel fine , breakfast fine , meal in the evening fine
shower in the room flooded on first night , informed reception no action taken apart from we were told some drain unblocker had been put down drain. shower problem not resolved couldn’t shower properly due to causing a flood . receptionist got a bit upset because we were 5 to 10 minutes late for check out , i did explain it was due to mopping water up on the bathroom floor with towels before we left the room . i did apologise that were were a little late. not impressed if they couldn’t fix it why not offer another room which the facilities were fully functioning . when there is a problem someone needs to sort out a solution not just leave it .
Location for event
The building was in need of an update and the rooms had a musty smell, one of the windows in the room had a catch broken and the wall in one looked like it was in the process of being maintained and filled with something. It was very dated and staff were not thorough in explaining things on check in eg , parking, breakfast times, check out times.
Central location
The bed and pillows were too hard, and the bedroom was small, not enough plug sockets in the room, reception area smells of urine, the tv channels was rubbish, but apart from that, the bar staff was lovely and couldn't help you enough.
Very central
No air con, extractor fan in bathroom didn’t work. The overall lighting in the room was not bright, no sockets next to the beds
Good location, good value for money and good service - I shared a room with a friend cyclist (twin beds) - you allowed us to keep our bike in the room - that made it simpler and safer.
Nothing really
Room and check inn fine.
Breakfast didn't have much choice and was not as good as I remember from my last visit. Car parking is pricey but convenient
Prachtig Hotel mooi in een oude style en centraal in de stad.
Location and good breakfast
No AC in my room, feels a bit old and dated in areas. Also expensive for what it is.
Location
Room right next to the lift which is noisy
Staff, but did not try the restaurant.
Central location
The hotel seems a little tired. The room we were originally given didn’t have hot running water. Thankfully we were moved and given a suite which was lovely. Parking charges!
A last minute booking here as previous hotel cancelled on the day of check in! The Duke's Head were kind and curtious. The room was very spacious and clean. Although we didn't use the restaurant or bar, it appeared popular with guests and again, looked very clean.
Everything was great
My husband can’t walk up stairs to much and to be told the lift was out of order was so very disappointing…. Made our stay no enjoyable because of the extra pain he was in .
We had paid for the large double, and it was worth it. The bedroom (room 12) was lovely. Decor was good, room spacious and bed comfy. We had a good view over Tuesday Market Square and any noisy people in the Square soon left. We paid £3 to leave our car in the Square overnight rather than £15 to leave it in the hotel car park.
The plumbing system is very noisy near room 12. I saw in reviews on Booking.com that someone in room 14 also complained about it recently. It sounds like a giant snoring next door, or a pneumatic drill elsewhere in the building. Thankfully I had ear plugs which helped. The bath side panel is very tatty, and so is the flat surface behind the sink. There is a large chip in the enamel of the bath.
Great location, impressive beautiful room and the staff were amazing. Every single member of staff we interacted with were very friendly and helpful. Food in the restaurant was also great, really delicious.
Bit annoying that the carpark is round the back of the hotel and it's quite a walk to the front entrance. It would be so much easier if they could have a back entrance
Nice location
Cold shower and poor water tap and needs a lick of paint food and restaurant very good
Very friendly and helpful staff, good sized rooms and a very good breakfast with lots of fresh fruit.
Great breakfast and helpful receptionist
Cheaper on site parking
Been before location is ok.
The shower and basin both overflowed when you used them (room 112). The lift didn’t work which upset me as I am awaiting knee replacement. Several other people weren’t impressed either. The hotel needs a good upgrade as it is getting tired in side.
Location
Very hot in room and also not a lot of room on one-sided of the bed.
Great location, friendly staff, good rooms.
Lift was out of order, but to be fair I was informed of that before we arrived.
Location was perfect
Bed was not very comfortable Smell of damp in corridors Lift out of order and room on 4th floor
Nothing more to say about the place always to Exllant
Nothing always great
Very central
Nothing
Check-in and out was easy.
The room was dirty and there was mould on the walls. The corridors were dirty and had mould on the walls. The shower didn't work properly and the water was cold.
Room 14, located up a awful set of stairs, plumbing noise all night that sounded like drilling. Terrible night sleep due to noise all night
Loved the hotel apart from the lift not working
Lift not working
Location was great, staff friendly and nice clean hotel...
Room was like an oven very little ventilation
Proximity to the town. Excellent breakfast. Spacious room. Pleasant staff. Lovely lounge area
Noise from the pub on Sat night as we were at the back of the hotel.
Excellent central location, helpful freight day staff
Great location.
Was not aware that one side of the bed was extremely close to the wall which made access difficult. The receptionist who dealt with us was not particularly friendly or welcoming. Very disappointed.
The hotel was very clean, location was perfect, all staff were very helpful and friendly, bed was comfortable, breakfast was delicious and such a variety.
Car park needed to be a little bigger, pillows are quite hard so I woke with bad neck pain. Possibly look at having fridges in the room
The location
I was put on the 4th floor and the lift was broken and I’m in my 70’s
Good quality, staff friendly, good bar
The room was facing the interior place - form where the noise comes from - when you open the window-
Sehr zentrales nettes Hotel
Das Personal im Restaurant war nicht besonders freundlich und wollte im Hauptspeisesaal keinen 4-er Tisch an zwei Personen vergeben, mit der Begründung, dass noch mehr Personen kommen könnten, was aber nie passiert ist.
Amazing service and staff, clean and comfortable will definitely be back
Nothing
Nothing
Everything about the place was terrible. Tired building, and very unprofessional staff. You had to pay for parking and they even parked me in the wrong car park so I got a fine which they wouldn’t pay.
Close location to the town and restaurants
Having to pay for hotel parking where other hotels have free parking, this should be added to the cost of the hotel like other hotels do, very disappointing..! The room was next door to a pub where it was very noisy when it shut. No fan in the room for warm nights, and you have to ask for shower mats, could just have them in the room. No instructions for the coffee machine in the room.
Good central location, pleasant staff, comfortable bed, bathroom had bath.
A bit tired in places. Quite expensive, and parking expensive in adjacent car parks. Long term car parks are nearby and good value, but you must enter in the evening or very early morning to find a space.
Good location.
I left my phone/wallet in room to recharge while at breakfast for roughly an hour. There were cleaning staff in the hall as we exited the bedroom. On return we promptly left. A short time later I discovered that my credit, debit and driving license were missing. I immediately froze cards and rang the hotel. I asked to check the room in the unlikely case they had fallen out. The receptionist said she would inform the manager. A full day later I called back and asked to speak to manager, who had no sense of the report and nothing to say except such a thing (IE theft) had not happened before. No further action except she said she would speak to the staff involved. They had the opportunity to call back after my first call. I sense complete disinterest. I have stayed there before, not again.
Everything it was so clean and spacious.
Nothing everything was good.
Location
Noisy deliveries
Close to town
Having to pay £12.50 a night for unsecure oarking
Clean and elegant
Excellent location. Interesting historic building. Helpful staff..
Food menu.It was a rather dull corporate selection .No local specialities. Fish/ Cromer crab etc. Must have been very boring for the chef/cook
Good quality furnishings, friendly staff, happy to let us take our bikes to our rooms. Excellent breakfast
Location and breakfast
Kitchen extractor fans on when we arrived at 4 and woke us up at 5.30 in the morning
.
Location
The public areas were beautiful.
Our room was very tired. There was a plaster flaking off the ceiling. The shower wasn't very powerful. The hairdryer was very old fashioned. The TV was "black & white" ie there was no tone to the colour.
Location.
One of the blinds in our bedroom was broken and could not be closed, and the blind in the bathroom couldn’t be opened or closed.
Rooms are comfy
, a little outdaeted, wifi was rubbish
Good facilities, convenient location, very good breakfast , helpful and friendly staff
Great location and easy access
No aircon and the hot weather made for a restless night
Friendly staff and early check in.
No aircon in rooms, this should be clearly identified on the booking page. An extra fan was sent up which helped but the room was still extremally hot and uncomfortable. There are other place to stay in the town centre which offer a better room quality and service. Breakfast buffet area was very small and crowded.
Location
Room quite small and stuffy
The location is absolutely perfect. Hence we've stayed there for about 10 times.
Don't like the fact that breakfast is now a buffet. It was far better when breakfast was off the menu. Also being charged £15 per day for parking, which was only recently applied.
Great location and very friendly staff. Good size room which was nicely decorated. Lovely lounge and bar areas downstairs. Nice cocktails and breakfast.
Very steep stairs up to our room which was in the roof and shower not great for tall people!
Lovely bar and restaurant area
We were in room 400 close to the lift very noisy
Good location in kings lynn, very central. Lovely breakfast Clean.
Little bit basic/shabby in the area between the old hotel and newer part of the building. Rooms were nice though. Poor amount of sockets. Mirror mounted too high to see when sat at desk.
Location is the best aspect of this hotel, convenient to go anywhere in city centre
The lift should be serviced, possibly changed to new one! It makes soooo much noise and we were given a room right next to it. If I had known, I wouldn't have booked the room or the hotel! All one hopes for is a silent and good night's sleep. The bathroom had recent construction sort of dirt, wasn't even cleaned well. Cutlery in the room wasn't clean either, it was sticky and not cleaned after previous use (yuck!). The hotel staff wasn't accommodating about any of these issues either!
