The Corner House Hotel

It was handy to the airport and the staff was able to book a taxi to take us to the airport the next morning. The location was a shortish walk from restaurants for our final dinner before heading the airport the next morning. Also, it was close enough to walk to other shops to pick up last minute items we wanted to take home with us.

I received a few scam emails related to the property which appeared to come from booking.com and I was worried about the status of my reservation. Fortunately I checked directly with the hotel through the booking.com website and they confirmed that my reservation was secure and the emails were scams. I just found that rather sketchy since it happened more than once.

Absolutely perfect for my stop over before my flight from Gatwick North. Great staff, bar and restaurant 👌

Very nice place to stay, however at the moment they do not have the usual minibus transport they used to have before the change of ownership, and are awaiting a licence from Gatwick to run one. Excellent breakfast.

The receptionist was friendly and the room was adequate for the price.

The noise levels were very high until around 11pm with shouting and corridor noise. I was called at midnight to move my car and experienced a very bad interaction with the member of staff demanding my keys. I had already checked the parking location on arrival and had been told I was fine. This was exceptionally distressing and disruptive and ended up with me having to dress in the middle of the night and go outside, alone and in the dark, feeling intimidated to move my car... and hence got no sleep thereafter. I would never stay there again.

It is a quiet and pleasant property. To get there, it is a short bus ride from the airport, getting off at St. Matthew’s and walking about five minutes.

El personal es espectacular, me ayudaron muchísimo. Tanto facilitandome un cargador, sin costo alguno, como por la mañana que del cansancio, bajé muy tarde al comedor y al ver que estaba lloviendo y que no podía ir a otro sitio a desayunar por una cuestión de tiempo, desde metieron en la cocina y prepararon mi destino con mucho cariño. Mil gracias

Easy stop over for our early flight

Location and room was very clean

Absolutely no customer relations. Arrived and gentleman on desk hardly spoke. Also expected to stay in a hotel as pictured but ended up through a side gate, walking across a main road and down an alley to a different building . Room accessible from outside, no hallway. No bedside table or socket on one side.

Good Indian restaurant over the road, bus £3 to Gatwick round the corner. Decent Wi-Fi. Clean, comfortable room. Good hot water. Free tea and coffee in room.

Die Lage/ Nähe zum Flughafen waren für mich ausschlaggebend. Gatwick ist mit dem Bus leicht zu erreichen und die Ausstattung, Bequemlichkeit reicht für eine Nacht vollkommen.

Well managed and reliable taxi

Sehr liebes Personal in der Rezeption. Haben mir die Bushaltestelle gezeigt, wie ich zum Flughafen kommen kann. Lage super, 5min mit dem Bus zum Bahnhof, auch schon um 4:30 in der Früh.

I had a single room with immaculately clean bathroom, very comfortable bed, decent tea/coffee making facilities. Location is good, very convenient for Gatwick airport which is a very short bus journey away. Also convenient for eating places & shops in Horley town centre just a 5 -10 minute walk. Neighbourhood is pleasant.

Small room although it was adequate for my one night stay. Occasional noisy plumbing/pipes sounds from under floor or behind wall at room.

Lovely little room, very good value for money. The whole place was very clean and receptionist was helpful. Good place to stay if you’re flying from Gatwick and need to stay somewhere overnight - it’s a quick 10minutes bus ride.

Friendly staff close to airport but didn't really hear much airport traffic. We had a triple room which had loads of room fir 3 adults. Extremely clean,clean towels. Good choice in yesterday.

Very good location just 10 mins bus ride from Gatwick. Extremely clean bedroom and ensuite shower. Bed very comfortable and restaurant/bar facilities available. Will certainly consider as a competitive stay near Gatwick with Horley Town centre just a walk away for shops, cafes, bars etc.

Don’t get money back

The ventilation fan didn’t work, so that helped the room to be hotter. The bedding didn’t suit that night’s extreme heat at night. I would like them to give us bedding choices in order to prepare for extremely hot night. People cannot survive with just a small fan in recent hot weather .

Had to ask for a TV remote and there was no hairdryer in my room. The TV in my sons room was all out of tune so wasn’t able to watch it Only skimmed milk available for breakfast .

There was nowhere to park when I arrived, despite checking there would be. I was advised where to park in the evening, only to be woken at 6.50 and asked to move the car. They couldn’t issue 2 keycards for one room.

Very convenient to Gatwick. Nice clean comfortable rooms , restaurant served us lovely meal in the evening and breakfast was very good.

Location was good, Reception & Chef very welcoming.

It was far too hot in the Hotel and our room. Luckily we were on the ground floor as upper floors would have been unbearable for guests. I realised the following day they actually had air conditioners that were not on the day we arrived but the following morning were on and the place was far more comfortable to be in. I would suggest that the air conditioner is utilised so that guests are comfortable. After all it’s a health and safety matter that the Hotel should comply with to ensure their guests are not exposed to uncomfortable temperatures.

The room is tiny. The smallest room we ever stayed in. But it is ok if you need just a sleep before flight.

Disappointing Experience. Parking Agreement NOT honoured. I booked a stay at The Corner House Hotel through Booking.com and contacted the hotel in advance specifically about parking for two cars for the duration of our trip. I received written confirmation from the hotel stating: “We can offer discounted parking for both cars if you park until 2nd September 2026 at £7.00 per night.” I relied on this written agreement when making my arrangements. However, when we arrived, I was told that the parking would cost approximately £300 for both cars. The owner admitted that he had not properly read the email when agreeing to the £7 nightly rate. What was particularly disappointing was the way the matter was handled. Rather than acknowledging that the hotel had made an error and trying to find a reasonable solution, the owner was adamant that he would not honour what had been confirmed in writing. He stated that there was “no way” he would allow two cars to park for £7 per night and said he was not going to argue about it. The only concession offered was a reduction of £1 per night, which did not meaningfully address the problem. I had travelled a considerable distance of 5 hours, and arrived expecting the arrangements that had been agreed with the hotel to be honoured; and they were not. Mistakes can happen, but when a hotel gives a customer a clear price in writing, I believe it should either honour that agreement or make a genuine effort to resolve the situation fairly. The most disappointing aspect was therefore not simply the parking charge, but the refusal to take responsibility for the hotel’s own written confirmation and the manner in which the matter was dealt with on arrival. I arrived with the following after a very long drive, a partially blind passenger, an adult with autism, two seniors and a four-year-old in tow! To hear the owner say to me that he, “Didn't want an argument!”

The location to the Gatwick carpark is fantastic. Car park (for small charge). They served food and drinks. Staff are very helpful.

Facility changed ownership last December. I had stayed several times previously. The new owners are friendly and kind. Emulating the previous ownership, their personal approach to hospitality is pending. I look forward to their cultural mark. Will liven the Corner House.

Some carpet mending on the bathroom-bedroom threshold is a trip risk. Especially missed the van that picked up and returned guests to and from Gatwick. It was a good service, allowing authentic transition between places with a knowledgeable hotel rep.

I was asked to provide my bank card to be taken a picture of "for security". It's very insecure and I didn’t like it at all. The room was clean, but I found an empty coca cola can left on a pouf under the table. Also, the fan had dust on.

The room was a family with comfortable bunk beds for our and a very comfortable double bed for parents which meant we all had a comfortable sleep. The whole room and bathroom was very clean and welcoming.

Nothing - to complain about. We had to leave very early to catch a flight so nothing to do with the hotel.

staff were incredibly rude and discriminating to our group… we tried to order a drink at the bar and were told we were only aloud one drink per person, when asking politely why this was the case they became very rude and shut down our question in a very agressive manor.. the man working at the bar then left and began talking about us to other staff rudely whilst we were able to hear. We asked him politely to please stop being nasty towards us as we had done nothing wrong and were totally ignored. We tried to get a refund as we didn’t feel comfortable staying there but they said that it wasn’t possible… no apology was given and they made excuses for there actions and blamed it on us “looking young” although we had all shown proof of age. The problem wasn’t that we were only aloud one drink, it was the language used whilst the situation was happening. We are young women so the man at the bar clearly felt he had power over us which is why we felt so uncomfortable. We also asked for the managers name and the owners contact number, both of which were refused to us. Please save your time and find a hotel where the staff are not incredibly rude as this ruined the start of our trip
