This place makes you feel you sleeping in a jungle. At night it is loud not because of city noise, but wild life. Frogs, birds, wild dogs or cicada, you can expect them making noise when you try to sleep. Interesting experience, but also can be a bit annoying. The hotel is located next to the river, there are many restaurants around and the view over the river is very pretty, especially during the sunset. The rooms are nice and tidy. The pool is great and looks nice too. There are also lots of benches and swings near the river. Watch our for mosquitoes. There is a lot of them.
This is more a conference facility than a hotel. It was Mostly very empty when we were there as their conference had ended. They run a minimum of services if you are not part of conference - a room, the pool, breakfast and a restaurant. But note, most other hotel facilities are closed down - swim up pool bar closed, second pool full of leaves and closed, sauna closed, no bar in resort (despite it being advertised) so you just sit in restaurant, tennis courts closed a long time ago and in disrepair, one Restaurant not the two as advertised , no business centre (despite advertising one), Big dining rooms set for 100 people but no one was there. Bit like the Shining! Room very tired. Shower could not produce stream of hot water despite complaining twice about it. Cold water showers not that bad though. Bed however is very comfortable and the aircon, though noisy, does work reasonably well. TV aerial held together with tape and so went on and off. Breakfast is good but dinner in restaurant was awful. Dreadfully slow and I moved my own plates, something that people do a lot here. The gardens are beautiful and probably the only thing that is well maintained. Very convenient for the Bridge on the River Kwai with picturesque walks along it. Nice pool. Reception staff very helpful. But it’s overall been a disappointment and we won’t come back.
We first visited 15 years ago and sadly apart from the welcome addition of a lap pool nothing has changed. The hotel is on the wrong side of the river But close to the bridge. Gardens are lovely but much else is anchored in the early90s Rooms are large and come with decent balconies, comfortable beds and superb views of the kwai. It is relatively cheap but let down by the following: Tired decor Bath and shower in serious need of an upgrade - more 70sthanmodern Taps tiles and shower require refurbishing Breakfast was the second worst I have ever experienced in Thailand: Lack of cups , glasses and cutlery Staff standing around not helping or renewing the buffet which was tired and often cold. They are clearly catering to the Thai onference trade and not tourists Some of the front desk staff were willing and helpful but not all This could be a great hotel but needs new management
Great location, tired hotel, awful restaurant food and service. If you have other accommodation options available then avoid if possible.
The hotel is old and worn down, which gave an overall negative impression. When we visited the massage service that the hotel advertises, the experience was unpleasant. The place was messy, I was given a dirty cup, and the massage therapist behaved unprofessionally and made inappropriate, sexual remarks, which made the situation very uncomfortable.
More like a resort rather than hotel. There is a short cut to the dead bridge. There is no lift if you are staying in the 2nd flr
not a convenient room. a lots of stairs until getting to the room. the sheet on the bad was not clean. tje aircondition didnr work until repairung it
I had a nice stay here. The room had a superb view of the river. It was big and clean and everything worked as staff were friendly. The pool is huge. The breakfast was very good with lots of choice. I would recommend but need transport as a walk every were
Hotel is l next to the river Kwai Bridge. We were fortunate and had the entire resort to ourselves wonderful place to stay.
Had a lovely few days here, the staff were wonderful. There were very few guests while I was there, and for me that was heavenly. The actual bridge over the river Kwai is directly accessible from the hotel, a short walk from the security hut. Really unique ! There's also a 7 eleven just outside the facility, so that's very good too.
2nd time staying here. It’s a really large hotel. The hotel is located next to the river Kwai bridge. The rooms are clean and large. The breakfast had mainly Thai option with a few western items. The swimming pool was amazing. Note there is a lot of stairs in the hotel which I didn’t mind.
What an amazing relaxing place wow just what was needed. A lovely welcome from the hotel reception , all the hotel team were so friendly and professional. Our room was spotless and all the grounds are very well looked after . Beautiful views of the river kwai , and only a 5 minute walk to the bridge and little town . Wish we could have stayed longer but we will be back next time we visit. Thankyou it’s been a pleasure
walk in distance to river kwai bridge and station, nice and friendly staffs, nice location.
All of the interior spaces, including my room, are/were immaculate, exactly what you should expect from an establishment calling itself a ‘Resort’. The exterior is showing a little age/wear from the brutal Thai weather. I didn’t eat at the resort so I can not comment on the food or food service. It’s a beautiful location on a bend in the river just across the historically famous River Kwai bridge. The bridge is approximately a 10 minute walk.
Goof location next to the river kwai. Well kept property with clean rooms. No elevator to the upper (third) floors. Hot water is only luke warm. Definitely not warm enough for using the bath tub as some other reviewers also noted. Breakfast is ok with many varieties but food was not kept warm. Restaurant staff showed limited interest in serving customers even when there were fewer than 10 people during breakfast time.
Flies are a real problem here. I guess maybe just time of the year as I don’t see other comments but just intolerable. In hotel areas. Room is fine with doors shut and air con on. Unfortunately, also hotel is deserted which means no atmosphere. They must be 100 rooms and it is deserted which is a great shame because the hotel and the staff are lovely
Great location. Property on older side and probably due for a Reno to take it to the next level but I stayed for ease of location - close to the action but away from the hustle and bustle. Pleasant staff. Will happily choose here for my next visit.
Well situated and beautiful garden. But amenities not funtioning properly. Breakfast and coffee: very under par. No warm water. Needs some modernization of room.
I booked here because the pictures show the bamboo restaurant on the river with perfect view of the bridge.. the restaurant has been closed since Covid I am now told.. About a 2km walk from reception to the bridge - this has to be done in daylight. The start of the bridge only has narrow plate to talk and no lights, a long way to fall. Which also means you need to get a taxi back from town which is easier said than done. Because your on the other side of the bridge about 15 min by road no one wanted to know, easier money to be made from the bars pickups. Room was really nice, 3rd floor stairs were a little tedious once you were in and out a few times, but the service was spot on with the kart to pick you up and service for your luggage so getting around the resort was easy. I would stay here again, IF I had a car or bike Breakfast was great, will even do demonstrations for eggs or Thai coffee making.
What fantastic hotel resort right on the river side and close to the famous rail bridge, lovely and peaceful and with a view of the river (10 metres away).
Good for the price and quiet location - easy walk to bridge. Property is looking tired but clean and pool area is lovely. Very poor service in restaurant first night - waited over an hour for ANY service - not even a drink. Seem to have plenty of staff everywhere but the restaurant.
I’m disabled and walk with crutches. For such a big hotel not having elevators, or rooms close to the main building is a pity. Also the bathroom had only a bath which is not so easy. A lot of steps, stairs, bridges to take when you walk around. Lovely pools but not enough lounge seats.. You can’t change money in the hotel, so you have to go to the centre. Staff speaks poorly English..
I like the place but need to provide more hygienic equipment.
Very frendly helpful service on check in. The rooms are large and spacious but only 2 coat hangers in the wardrobe is not good. The grounds around the hotel are most impressive and well maintained. Access to the swimming pool for people with any slight disability is an impossibility as there are no steps for children or the elderly. Its the same inside the hotel with no lifts or elevator to safely access the upper and lower floors. The Breakfast provided is good and provides a good start to the day but why do you place the cutlery in single use plastic bags? This is 2025, please stop this practice of single use plastics. Overall the hotel is in a great location but has seen better days and is in need of a little TLC
nice place
Extremely dated hotel but we were already aware of that when we booked, and at that price point I guess we shouldn't be complaining about that too much. Room smelled "old" as soon as we got in, and we promptly found hair (not ours) both around the bathtub and inside the fridge... Aircon in the room, although functioning (unlike the experience of some other guests), is super noisy. Not enough pressure in the shower, and the quality of the towels was poor. Location of the hotel also isn't ideal as it's on the "wrong" side of the river if you're after restaurants (the only place around is the new and excellent KAAN hotel/restaurant, but even that isn't within walking distance), cafes (we literally couldn't find any coffee shop near the hotel, and were told to take a taxi just to grab a coffee), night market, or any sort of night life. It is however close to the Kwae bridge. Service level leaves a lot to be desired - guys at Concierge do not speak English, neither do many of the other staff, including the reception staff. The pool was the only thing that we enjoyed - unfortunately that was also infested with ants. No service by the pool unless you ring up reception, and they ran out of pool towels by 10am. There are much better options at a similar price point - we only booked Felix because our original choice would not let us opt out of a paid breakfast.
My wife and I stayed two nights at Felix River Khwae Resort Kanchanaburi on Thursday and Friday. The staff were friendly and helpful. Parking is plenty. We stayed in the riverside room. The river views were wonderful. Breakfast was good. The swimming pools were nice. We hired a long-tail boat. The boat driver pick up us at the resort pier. The resort is big. The sunset views by the river were amazing.
Next to the famous river
Excellent resort right on river walk to bridge over river Kwai and eating entertainment areas I honestly didn’t want to leave
Unlike the rest of Thailand..... the staff here are not interested in helping at all. They are prepared to shout at you and hang up the phone multiple times. This hotel's number one focus is your money and how to keep it. There are better options nearby to consider.
Niemniej polecam.
Not a 4 star hotel I would say more like a 3 star. Very aged and could do with some upgrades… the pool and food in the main restaurant was great. Rooms nice big size but aged. Air con was terrible and couldn’t sleep due to room being very hot. I ngineer called at 1am and couldn’t resolve.
Good but not great, lovely river view room clean and tidy.but swim up bar nonexistent and a step up in pool that is not clearly identified everyone banged there shins.main problem is that during our 3 night stay hotel was taken over twice by thai buisness meetings staff totally ignored tourists my wife is thai and she didn't get any better treatment whilst meetings were on going not good enough.
Felix River Kwai Resort is a great location with great staff and comfortable, clean rooms. PROS: - Expansive resort with two great pools, spa, conference facilities, bikes, and more! - While it's got a lot of rooms, the grounds make the resort feel smaller and intimate. We thought there were maybe 20 guests when we stayed, but at breakfast there had to be at least 200-300! - Location! A 5 minute walk to the Bridge and main tourist area. Facilities are on the river, and facing lush greenery on the other side (you aren't looking at other resorts). - Occasional special events. One night they had a dinner cruise available. - Very good food. The dinner cruise food was great and varied, and the breakfast selection was expansive and high quality. Even the poolside food was tasty! (And we are picky eaters!) - Very clean, both on the grounds and in the rooms and public areas (even the public toilets!) - The room was spacious and comfortable. The mattress was great, the linens almost glowed white, the extras in the room (TV, desk, 2 chars and table, etc.) gave us options, and it included a balcony with lounge chairs overlooking the river. - The best was the service. The staff was attentive but not intrusive, friendly and helpful always, and genuinely warm. CONS: - The property is a little dated, but they keep it clean. The age shows mostly in some minor rotting trim wood at the roofline. - The price was fair, but not great given the age of the property. Bottom line: I'd stay again and not even look at other places! I also learned to ask for a 1st floor room with a river view - On the second and third floors sitting on the lounge chairs, the railing blocks the actual river view!
Excellent resort located in a great position in Kanchanaburi Has a river view room which was superb and the restaurant was excellent Great pool and wonderfull grounds...very impressed, will definetly come back Quiet and peacefull and just a charming place
Lovely hotel but just a little tired, went there for the location however the river bar was closed which was one of the main reasons we went to the hotel,
By looking online we thought we were going to love this resort. We couldn't have been more wrong! The bathroom is a total disaster! First there is a dangerous step down into the bathroom that is easily missed. Second, there wasn't any hot water or even warm water in the shower and when I turned on the faucet at the sink the water that came out was black. According to other guests, it did clear up after running for a while but I didn't bother to wait that long. I shut it off immediately and used bottled water. The whole bathroom needs updating! The pool is lovely but other than that don't bother staying here! We couldn't wait to check out!
I love staying at this hotel. Very peaceful and the staff can’t do enough for you. The main swimming pool is beautiful and clean, the walk along the river Kwai is lovely. The breakfast is amazing. I’ve stopped here a couple of times now and I will definitely be returning again.
This place is simply amazing, so quiet and peaceful you get the best night sleep in the most wonderful bed you can imagine. Golf cart from the reception lobby to your room and full bath and shower.
As previous reviews state, this hotel is very run down. It is kept clean but the infrastructure, decoration etc. is very shabby. The reception staff were not as welcoming as we usually experience in Thailand and the breakfast was poor. However, the reason I gave it 3 stars is that we had a peaceful nights sleep and for the position. Perfect location for a short walk to the bridge then over it to the little town on the other side of the river. I wouldn’t recommend eating in the hotel’s restaurant as very soulless but there are plenty of lovely places within walking distance.
We have been coming to this hotel since 2015 and it’s still one of our favourites. In truth it is now in need of a little attention. The bathrooms desperately need updating preferably with walk in showers. My only real gripe is the lack of coat hangers. When on a 3 week holiday I require more than 2 coat hangers per person. That said, we still love this hotel, its location and its staff. They truly cannot do enough for you and the food is excellent. We’ll be back x
This resort hotel has huge possibilities but it simply too run down. The grounds are potentially fabulous, but pathways are uneven, algae are growing in some unused pond areas and the lack of upkeep was evident everywhere. The room was very large with a beautiful view, but the bathroom was in serious need of updating. Breakfast was average. We stayed as part of a tour and this hotel did not live up to our other experiences in Thailand.
This is a really nice property and lovely swimming pool options. Always seemed like a lack of staff particularly around breakfast time. The grounds are nice and great frontage to the river. An easy 10 mins walk to Kwai bridge makes this ideal for getting to that area. the staff weren't that friendly2, polite yes so would say hello but rarely servcie with a smile
The resort is beautiful however some areas are undergoing renovations including the gym (which was one of my criteria for booking hotels on our trip) & apparently some of the rooms including our first room lacked an in room safe. There was a safety deposit box at the main reception desk however it was inconvenient. I did talk to the check in staff about it they were able To switch our room for us & nicely “upgraded” us to a River front room. The rooms including the bathroom were a good size. Minimal toiletries in the bathroom Bed was more firm than we are accustomed to but not uncomfortable. Pillows were adequate. There were two pools one for lane swim which people living in the community can use with a membership & a beautiful second pool in the middle of the property. The hotel is located on a less frequented side of the River Kwai altho in walking distance of the bridge & neighboring town of Kanchanaburi. We walked it daily during our stay choosing not to pay for taxis. Breakfast was a disappointment, choices were very limited. Fried eggs were cooked & left to the side of the grill area altho you could ask for fresh. We had one dinner at the hotel food was again mediocre & was barely warm when we got it. I don’t think they’ve fully recovered from the pandemic. I think there was a billiards table but I didn’t bother seeing it. It looked like several areas that may have been quite lively in better days were unused during our stay. There are several other hotels on the opposite side of the bridge in Kanchanaburi that I would look into if we were to return.
Arrival on the last week of January for Friends Reunion in Kanchanaburi, our 4 families choose Felix River Kwai as our choice of accommodation. I recalled that this hotel used to be called 'Sheraton River Kwai' backed in 1990s. However, they are no longer with the Sheraton franchise for decades. Still, the hotel hold the charm of once were Five Stars hotel very well. Our group got the room on D Building which is adjunct to the reception. The hotel has very beautiful garden, nice swimming pool, wide and open lobby and reception areas. The service is good. Polite concierge, nice reception staffs, and the hotel tried to keep their hotel at the best condition as possible. The hotel itself give you the idea of what Luxury Resort should look like in 1990s. We got the room on D Block which is adjunct to the main Reception building. We asked for Deluxe Room with Balcony overlooking the River. We got everything that we asked for as the reception designated room D209 to us. The room has bigger balcony than most room on the same floor. I learned later that D Block rooms with 1 or 9 at the end of each floor got larger Balcony (as my friend got room ending with 1 and also got the same size balcony as mine one). The room is over 40m2 which is very large for standard room. The floor is polished wooden floor in an excellent condition. The bathroom is large with older fashioned bathtub. The room is old fashioned but very well maintained. Overall, it showed the quality of what the 90s Luxury 5 stars hotel should look like. Large, spacious, beautiful swimming pool, well decorated, big and beautiful landscape garden, large convention center with many meeting rooms, clean and tidy room, and large balcony. I walked around the hotel compound and love large trees with beautiful garden, and nice breeze along the walkway by Riverside. At the end of riverside walkway, there is a pier that you can see the legendary Bridge over River Kwai clearly. After all positive aspects, I also having similar comments from members those review before me. Despite all positive points, It is undeniable that this hotel is very old and some part that really show its' age. For example, the paint around the hotel are coming out, the wooden decoration on some roof areas are rusts. the open air car park is good but in 21st Century, EV chargers may be a good idea for customers with EV cars. It is undeniable that many facilities in this hotel may not be very well maintain. For example, the air conditioning in the lobby areas. The hotel used the portable air conditioning as a quick way to fix their problem. The lobby is very large covering 2 floors. So, it is very clear that the area on the ground floor has been very dark and not well maintain in comparison to the lobby on the 2nd floor (by reception). Also not all restaurants are open. While walking to our room, we can see that the large area that closed supposed to be either convention area or Chinese restaurant (due to decoration). It ended up that the whole hotel has only one opening restaurant on the ground floor. We dine at restaurant twice. For Dinner, we have a la carte menus. For dinner, we have selection of Thai meal such as Tom Kha Chicken, Tom Yum Soup, Stir-fried mixed vegetable, Pineapple Fried Rice, Thai Prawn Omelet, Jungle Curry, Cashew nut chicken, etc. Also, we ordered Beer and Wine. The price for beverages are relatively good. It is not overly expensive. But the selections are limited. Thai dishes such as Jungle Curry is very spicy but it is nice for Thai guests. Other meals are good BUT not outstanding. It is a good restaurant for modern First Class hotel but may need better decorations or presentations. For Breakfast, I have similar comment as other members. The meal has limited selection. Bread and cake sections are limited. No cracker or cheese selections, Jams are mostly supermarket grade jams (For Modern Luxury hotels always use Homemade). The cooking stations are good idea. But the selections are limited. I love the Thai Tea and Thai Coffee section. The Egg selections are limited. They offered only Fried Egg, Scramble Egg, and Omelet. The boiled egg only available at Congee station (need to have them with congee). The Congee need to work on their rice (it need to be crushed to the soup level but at this hotel the grain still visible). The buffet line are very limited. If you are looking at European selections, you have French Toast, Baked Bean, Bacon, Fried Egg, and Sausages. The sausages are tasteless and I need to put excessive amount of Ketchup for that. The Thai meal consist of Steam Rice, Fried Rice, Fried Noodles with small selection of other meals. Drink session consist of Water, Orange Juice, and Pineapple Juice. The problem is that the juices are not freshly squeeze. The Orange Juice is likely to be boxed Sunquist drink. Generally, the hotel is likely to used the same standard from their time with Sheraton. The standard is clearly a Luxury Hotels from 90s era with the same selection and used of raw materials. So, the current hotel positioning as a First Class hotel; it is meeting First Class hotel expectation. But with all the potential they have, I believe that it can push itself back to 5 stars hotel again. Overall, Felix River Kwai is a good First Class hotel with Large room of 5 stars hotel size. The hotel has excellent view of the river and beautiful garden. But the part that relatively ages and need renovation may need to be address by the hotel in the future. But generally speaking, this is one of the international standard First Class hotel in a small mountain city of Kanchanaburi.
We stayed in a lot of places during our time in Thailand and several needed upkeep, but this one was just dirty. One of our tour members found ants in her bed, we encountered dirty glasses at the breakfast bar and the bathrooms were icky. Breakfast and restaurant were of poor quality. Agreed with other reviews it is not convenient to town. The staff was nice.
Huge complex. Good pool. Good food.
Excellent hotel, perfect place. Excellent value for money. Highly recommended.
No pressure in the shower even after the maintenance said they fixed it. Breakfast was sub-par and the buffet was full of flies. The air conditioning in the room was not strong enough to keepthe room cool which made it difficult to sleep. Do everyone a favor and close this out- of -date hotel.
Absolutely stunning river side view around the property. Very quiet. The staff is amazing.
So beautiful place. Love it.
It was an excellent location. Food good, service good and very helpful with our tour. Loved that they were having an ANZAC day Ceremony. Very respectful.
Very beautiful property and gorgeous river view room! Be prepared for lots of mosquitoes, spiders, and wall geckos in your room! The whole place was beautiful, lots of things to do:) We seemed to be the only people there, it gave a little bit of “White Lotus” vibes. There is a direct path to the Bridge over the River Kwai though! Although, you cannot use the path at night
Nice Big Hotel with no Guests. Feels like in the movie "The Shining" Big bathroom, but no seperate shower. You still have to shower in the bathtub. Only the empty hotel, nothing to see around in the area, you need a transport.
Lovely hotel and the room overlooking the river was beautiful. The pool area was also nice and you can ring and order drinks and they bring them to you. The only downfall is it’s about 20 minutes away from the city however we stopped here as it was a 10 minute walk to the bridge over the river Kwai. Staff were pleasant overall a nice stay!
Great hotel, location, food, staff, and price.
The photos do not reflect reality. I came with my son who was 2 and a half and wanted to use the playground and have dinner over looking the bridge which is advertised int he pictures. This didn’t happen and I raised it with the hotel and they seemed either embarrassed as I don’t think I was the first to say this or didn’t want to engage in the conversation. Wouldn’t stay again but if you want one night and be able to walk round to the bridge super convenient.
Nice big grounds quiet but could do with a bit of TLC it overall good value
Hotel is lovely and in a beautiful location. But is very tired and in need of some tlc. It’s open but only just. Not exactly as advertised Sadly it’s a victim of Covid. Hopefully it will recover as tourists return. Food good. And a lovely place for couples nice pool and gardens. One of the things that swung it for me was the floating restaurant looking up to the rail bridge. It’s still there but not being used at the moment.
Verry quiet. 2 gorgeous swimming pools. Bedroom was big. Best shower I've had in Thailand in 6 weeks of traveling. Hot, powerful, endless HOT water. Room was very clean. Choose a river view room; this is a 2 minute walk from the jetty with amazing views of the famous bridge. Very happy with our choice. We will be returning soon. Shame we were only here for 2 days.
Facility is a bit dated but relatively ok maintained. The nature surrounding it is amazingly beautiful. Great view to river kwae bridge. Bad part about this place is mosquito. I found a few in the room.
Disappointed with my stay for this level of hotel
Shower room uncomfortable.
Big and old hotel in Kachanaburi. Staff was OK. But the hotel is very old generation. Bathroom in bad condition. No plugs for charging telephone or computer. Air-con was noisy. No parking for motorbike. Poor quality breakfast and very busy. At lobby, they told me that they do not have room with big bed anymore, and told me that i have to go for breakfast at 6.30 am because they have a lot of people at hotel and it was the only slot available !!
Nice and quiet hotel but a bit out of the way. You probably need a car but they do provide transport around the grounds from where it’s a short walk to the bridge. Hotel is a bit dated but very spacious and comfy. Staff are lovely
The Felix River resort is absolutely beautiful. There were very few people at this hotel when we stayed. It was quiet, easily accessible.
grounds of this hotel were beautiful. Location to the bridge was excellent hotel has free boat transport across the river. The train to hell fire pass is just before the bridge ... we had an a fantastic peaceful stay
We have stayed at the hotel some years ago and we went back to see what the hotel was like now and we where very pleased with our room.
My third stay at this resort and another great experience. The pool was looking a little jaded two years ago but it has been renovated since then and is now looking great. Staff couldn’t do enough for you and the buffet breakfast which was included on my room was excellent. There is also now a complimentary boat shuttle across to the town which has been added since my last visit. All in all a great experience and I shall stay here again when I return to Kanchanaburi.
Wonderful staff close to bridge. Good breakfast. Nice pool
This is quite a magnificent resort and well located, and the rooms are really big and well appointed. Staff are friendly and helpful (they're Thai, of course they are friendly and helpful). Unfortunately, it's in desperate need of maintenance or upgrade. The water pressure was poor, accessories were broken or missing, the pergolas are rotting and need painting/replacement, tiles chipped, concrete cracked- just so many small things. Having said that, we would definitely stay there again- it;s just so awesome!
Felix River Kwai has excellent customer service. Every staff member is always there to meet whatever needs you may have. The manager is always seen interacting with hotel guests. The hotel is nice and clean, well kept. The A/C is awesome, always nice to return to a nice cool room after a hot day. Breakfast is ok, plenty of variety to choose from. The bathtub is a very high step in and out of, water pressure is a hit and miss, but usually not bad. The water temperature is a constant struggle from scorching hot to freezing cold when showering. The toilet is a very weak flush, usually takes two flushes or more for a complete flush. The bed is comfortable and the surrounding is very quiet. Overall this is a great place to stay. My wife and I will definitely stay here again. Thank you Felix River Kwai. This is truly a hidden Gem.
Old, runndown, very big grounds, bad location, good for conventions and big groups, that’s it.
A beautiful hotel located just five minutes walk to the famous bridge. Walk over the bridge and there are plenty of places to eat and shop. The adjoining rooms our family of four had were spacious, clean and had beautiful views of the river. The only downside is that it is a large, impersonal hotel catering more for business conventions.
Very tired resort in need of maintenance and modinisation. Although close to the bridge over river Kwai access is along a muddy track
The hotel was absolutely fine for our family trip. The hotel has large grounds and suitable facilities. It has a feeling of somewhere that could have been quite grand in its heyday. The food was fine but not worth a special trip out to if you are just looking to dine. The pool either needs a good service and scrub or needs to be completely retiled. The rooms were spacious and opened out to a seating area. The walks in the grounds were very pleasant.
Nice gardens in a lovely location very quiet room was nice and clean. Only negative was drinks were quite expensive
Good location. Nice View. Big room space. ............................................
Comfortable resort on the river kwai. Old large room but very well maintained. Lanai with Thai rocking chairs, tennis courts, 2 pools, etc. Friendly staff. Only negative was that Thai side cars for luggage/goods were used to transport my elderly father and our family to the room. Recommend that the resort buy at least 1 large extended club car (golf cart) to transport hotel guests througout the resort.
Helpful and friendly staff, huge complex, well equipped
Very large hotel with huge landscaped, beautiful grounds boardering the River Kwai. Close to the famous bridge but should be noted that this hotel is on the opposite side of the River to the town of Kanchanaburi. Whilst this is ok in the daytime (you can walk over the railway bridge) at night a taxi would be required to go out into the town (around £5 each way) because the railway bridge is too dangerous to walk over in the dark. The hotel was pretty much deserted whilst we were there- I believe most of their business is made up of weddings and corporate events. This made the atmosphere a little soulless. However, saying all that, the 4 nights that my husband and I stayed here were pretty idyllic. If you can stretch to it try for a river suite - the views are to die for! Breakfast was fine, usual Thai hot dishes, salad, fruit, cereals etc Didn’t try the restaurant - We much prefer to go to local places over the River ( but as mentioned before the Taxi there and back was a pain) The drinks in the bar were so expensive so after 1 round we didn’t drink there again. However the mini bar drinks were pretty reasonable. The lagoon pool was lovely but sauna and gym pretty non existent. Pool towels were available free We did enjoy our time here but there are hotels on the other side of the river that we would try next time as we did feel a little isolated from the town.
Old room and lots of mosquitoes.
No hot water in room and very low water pressure in shower. So better to avoid to take a shower in that hotel.
Excellent hotel. Lovely riverside restaurant with views of The Bridge. Nice swimming pool area. Good breakfast. Busy Sunday morning as large conference party.
Our room was lovely. It is really hard to get across the rover without walking all the way around, I think they need a shuttle boat to make it easier. The lady at the little café was extremely rude. Nice pool and facilities
Our stay was excellent. The location is fabulous, rooms were very spacious and great view of the gardens and the river. The staff were very welcoming and helpful.
A really nice place to stay. Only issue was rooms were a little bit noisy from other rooms, otherwise I couldn't fault it.
They need to work on improvement of check in process. I had to wait till 3 for check in
The pool was beautiful, clean and spacious. The extensive gardens were lovely with many sitting areas along the river. The breakfast buffet had something for everyone with omelette station, curries, etc. Situated beside an impressive temple and a short walk over the historic bridge to many choices of food and shopping. We loved this place and the friendly staff and are already planning a return visit. Peace and tranquility away from Bangkok.
Hotel is indeed a resort style with nice sized and appointed rooms plus spacious gardens. plenty of lounge areas in the main building. Bathroom was nice and spacious. Breakfast was ample with Asian dishes the main fare. The only gripe was the WiFi didn’t works for us. No matter how much we tried to log on it just wouldn’t. Internet access was gained in the main building. Overall a good place to stay
We wanted a place close to the River Kwai and you can't get much closer. The resort is beautiful and the staff could not do anymore to make our stay superb. You can walk to the bridge from the resort. The rooms are well appointed and modern, the pools are great and the food at the buffet breakfast was plentiful.
Lovely location right by the river. Very well maintained grounds - very attractive.
A nice hotel on the outskirts of Kanchanaburi. The buildings are older but well maintained and decorated with dark wood. The grounds were nice to walk around but the pool looked like it needed a really thorough clean. The hotel is a ten minute walk to the Bridge over the River Kwai and about a 30 - 40 minute walk into town.
No air conditioning in the hotel for 3 days.
Friendly service but buildings and families looking dilapidated.
I love this hotel very much when it was just open. . Beautiful hotel but run down. Staff is very polite and professional. Lots of mosquito!!! Comfortable bed.
I was able to have an early check in. My room had a problem and they upgraded me at no cost. The staff were extremely polite and helpful the entire stay of three days. The only concern which is NOT the hotel's fault is the music played by the disco rafts on the river. This was my second time at Felix and I would recommend it highly.
The resort is enormous, with beautifully manicured gardens, two pools and a nice bar and restaurant. Breakfast is great and staff are helpful and polite. However, we ate in the restaurant one night and ordered Western food. The pork chop I ordered was so tough the knife couldn't cut it. Maybe I should have known not to order Western food in Thailand. But this is a top quality resort, therefore if they cannot supply quality food, they should leave it off the menu.
Have stayed at this hotel before, and will go back there again. The staff are outstanding and the total hotel is a delight to experience, Can recommend to everyone
