Sacred Waters Taupo

This second level apartment (#14) was a beautiful spacious apartment with a great layout! Though it was just the two of us for this stay, the 3 bedroom apartment would be a great choice accommodating a family as well. The kitchen and laundry were packed with everything you could need for a multi-night stay, and the furniture/decor provided a wonderful high end relaxing environment. Check in/check out with reception was easy and seamless, and housekeeping did a lovely job servicing our room when required. The stainless steel tub on the deck was a beautiful way to watch the sunset, relaxing in a steaming hot bath. Though there are more apartments visible off the back deck, the view of lake Taupō and surrounding hills/mountains are fabulous! A short walk down to the back gate and we were on the absolute lakefront pathway that is perfect to get the morning stroll/jog or even walk to a nearby coffee and breakfast spot. We hope to return for another stay with more family members in the future.

Sadly the master bedroom’s mattress was very worn with a large sagging dip on one side, and firm centre ridge along the centre which prevented me to move over out of the low spot. It was very uncomfortable to sleep on resulting in a sore back/body each morning. I would suggest replacing that mattress for future guests. Driving the car down to the carpark was very risky as the driveway tightens to a bottleneck with no way of telling if another car is going to come speeding around the corner to enter/exit. Sadly there isn’t much that can be done due to the fencing but perhaps a mirror on the bend?

Very nice - plenty of room

No communication by staff on our arrival about scaffolding across the garage early the next morning. We nearly missed the booking we had because of the time it took for the workers to dismantle the scaffolding so we could get out of the car park. If we’d been told about it - we would have moved our car out of the garage before they started.

The apartment was beautiful and warm with a spectacular outlook over the lake

Due to wind the previous night our room had experienced damage, and we are upgraded to a much better, more expensive room at no cost to us, because of this. And absolutely loved our room

We had great views of the lake and mountains. . Hot tub was wonderful on a cold day. Facilities were good. Place was bigger than expected so great for families

It was a bit tricky regulating the temperature it was quite warm. Also would have liked a bigger pot for cooking larger quantities.

Hot tub was metal! And dirty. Wardrobe doors wouldn’t open fully. Noisy workmen at 7:30am (on the Thursday) Bed was 2 single Beds and 2 mattress pushed together! Couch’s were uncomfortable. Carpet was dirty.

Stunning location and view. Private hot tub perfect on cold evenings. Apartment well thought out and had everything you needed. Very comfortable. Staff very friendly and welcoming.

One room didn’t have blind on smaller window and got a lot of light from cars on road.

The 3rd room being like a closet as for the pricing we thought it would be another queen room.

Can be noisey due to people on decks in spas next to you. Outdoor pool noise travels up to appartment especially when there were some 3am swimmers. However loved the signage reminding people to consider others when on decks in pools & pool hours.

A very disappointing stay — not what we believed we had booked Unfortunately, our two-night stay was a major disappointment and fell well below our expectations. When booking, we genuinely believed we were staying in a lakefront apartment with a lakefront view. We had no idea the apartment was actually a second-row apartment tucked behind the true lakefront units. The website advertises a “private geothermal hot tub” and “large private deck with outdoor furniture.” This was a significant factor in our decision to book. Unfortunately, we discovered that the hot tub and deck are not private at all. In fact, having seen the lakefront units as well, it appears there is no real privacy around the hot tubs or decks regardless of which unit you stay in. People can walk past and look directly into these areas. This is very different from how the accommodation is advertised. Thankfully, we had brought swimwear. The cleanliness on arrival was also disappointing. The kitchen rubbish bin was full and smelled, and the floor had not been mopped at all, with visible spills and marks still on it. We had to request that the floor be mopped the following day. This certainly wasn’t the standard we expected, particularly as we were celebrating a special occasion and had just arrived and opened a bottle of champagne. There was also no spare blanket in the apartment, and we had to request one. Staff did provide one when requested, which we appreciated. Our sleep was then disturbed at approximately 2:00am by the occupants in the apartment above us filling their outdoor hot tub. We were woken and unable to get back to sleep, which affected the following day and our plans. We raised all of these concerns with management, hoping they would be properly addressed. Unfortunately, the only response we received was that staff had offered us an extra blanket.

The apartment was wonderful with everything we needed. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and plenty of coffee pods, tea etc. beautiful occitane shower gel, hand wash and shampoos. Very comfortable furniture. The hot pool was glorious.

The location is exceptional.... the facilities and options are beyond belief. This is the most magical property that we have stayed at in Taupo. Given even half a chance... I will be back in an heart beat.. The views of the lake and the mountains are beyond compare. I loved it..!!

Great location. Inside was immaculately clean and well stocked kitchen.

Had Unit 7. Balcony with hot tub was filthy with rubbish left everywhere, particularly behind chairs and small table. Didnt use this area at all for this reason and paid extra to secure unit with hot tub.. For price would have expected all areas to be spotless.

Location and clean large apartment

The smoke alarm going off in the early hours of the morning, requiring a visit by the fire brigade!

The apartment was very clean and spacious. The apartment has all the necessary facilities to accomdate you. The staff were very friendly. The location is good right on the main street. Under carpark is very secure.

Everything was great

The property was exactly as advertised. My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sacred Waters & would definitely stay again if ever back in the area. Car parking is secure under the building and staff are excellent to deal with. It is only a short drive to get into the centre of town or many of the other tourist attractions in the area.

I don't believe there was anything at all we didn't like.

The property is a little run down and desperately in need of some TLC, it may have been 5 star 15 years ago but now Its a 3 star in my opinion.It wasn't very clean with alot of dust behind doors etc where the cleaners hadn't bothered with.The floor hadn't been vacuumed properly after the previous guests which is not acceptable in a room in this price range

Toilet seat was broken and despite reporting this to reception and being told it would be fixed, it was not.

Our second time staying here. Location is perfect. Stayed in Lakefront apartment this time and couldn't be better. The apartment opens to the lake and snow capped mountains with privated gate to the waterfront. Apartment itself well equipped and spacious. Staff friendly and welcoming. My kids absolutely live the heated pool. Private thermal spa tub with natural thermal spring water is a plus. Will make it our preferred stay in Taupo if we had the chance.

Too hot! We turned the underfloor heating off but it was still really warm inside while only 5 degrees outside. We ended up opening all the doors but shut them at night and slept poorly because we were overheating even with aircon on. Also, for us, the pillows were not comfortable

The view of the lake is unsurpassed and right on a walkway around the lake.

Perfect location, quiet and close to the lake. Fantastic views. Lots of space.
