Reviewed Aug 16, 2026Studio room with gate access to the beautiful hot pool was great. Really comfy bed and lovely white linen and fluffy white towels. Fresh milk on arrival.
Limited tea but I take my own now. Green tea is becoming popular so this would be a great option. Bar fridge was noisy so I turned it off at the wall. Minor things.

Reviewed Aug 7, 2026The Reef Resort hosts were very informative, helpful and friendly. Amenities were excellent.
Our one-bedroom apartment seemed a little claustrophobic for 3 nights stay. Next time we will book a studio as they were wider and better designed (in our view) with more natural light from the larger windows (with lake views).

Reviewed Jul 14, 2026The pool! Definitely a big highlight for us. Especially at night and in the middle of winter. Would stay again just for these facilities alone. Beautiful!
The balcony and window in our room looked over another hotel and driveway. We didn't mind this at all because we were just passing through. If I was coming to stay for longer I'd prefer another outlook.

Reviewed Jul 14, 2026The pools were warm & clean as was the room. The bed was comfortable and we loved the views from the balcony of the lake & mountains. This is one of the better places we have stayed in Taupo.
Parking was limited and 3 of the 4 nights we stayed the only option was quite a tight parking spot right up against the side of the building on a fairly narrow driveway. The windows weren’t double glazed so had a lot of moisture on them due to the cold outside. The bathroom had no extraction fan and there was no range hood above the kitchenette

Reviewed Jul 9, 2026We were looking for a restful winter minibreak (3 nights) and this accommodation delivers this and more. We were welcomed by our hosts who were so friendly and helpful during our stay. The rooms were warm, clean and comfortable with incredible views of the lake and mountains from the balcony. The thermal pools were a treat. There is direct access to the Lake Taupo walkway, close to shops and restaurants. Highly recommended.

Reviewed Apr 24, 2026Very nice resort hotel right on the lake with heated pool and hot tub which were both lovely to use. Neither were busy during our stay. The rooms were a decent size and were well equipped. We had a room with a garden view which had no particular view but i believe this was the cheapest room so choose lake view if views are important. Overall a good place to stay in Taupo.
WiFi was weak/not working for all of our 3 night stay so we had to use mobile 4G instead.
