Great location and parking. Comfortable bed.
all good
It's central to town, the room was spacious, the bed was comfy
The toilet wouldn't flush
Clean and tidy . Central in town. Good private parking.. Tea/coffee tray. Can recomend.
I needed help with finding key and room. But ultimatley all good.
Arrived just after 4pm. Had the codes etc to get into the property and room. When opened key safe outside room, no key!!
Customer service not great, Phoned the number on the wall in the entrance. Finally got hold of someone, eventually got a message back saying the booking would be cancelled. No apology, no sorry just cancelled.
We ordered a family room for 3 adults. The picture of family room was 3beds.when we got there only 2beds.Furthermore noone on reception and noone to call to aak what was going on.I was misled and missold!
Comfortable spacious room, good shower.
I don't like the lack of a receptionist. When I arrived I tried to ring the telephone number but only got an answering machine. A short while later I received a text with the door entry code and a code to the key box for my room. All very impersonal. If I had a problem with my telephone I would not have been able to get in.
Exactly as expected. Very convenient and clean.
Nothing really.
Location, entry/code system Convenient, parking
The hotel is no fuss, a good place to stay for any reason to visit Taunton, which for us was a gig in the park. It’s ideal.
Nothing I didn’t like. It’s as advertised.
Central, easy parking, immaculately clean, quiet.
Nothing specific. I don't normally have breakfast so it doesn't bother me that breakfast is not available at the property. This might not suit everyone.
Rooms nice . Clean
Nothing really
Good location. Clear instructions for door code entry.
I am not used to the system of letting yourself in and out without seeing another human, but presumably this is the modern way. Also, it wasn’t clear to me that the hotel no longer serves breakfast; when I stayed there about three years ago they did.
I am currently standing g outside this hotel. I have a booking for this evening and there is no one to let me in. I have texted & emailed - no reply and the owners telephone number is currently unavailable…. I am a lone female in Taunton having to make alternative arrangements. Choose another hotel
access was difficult no email or text message was sent lucky another guest was able to help .no where are you told that the room key fits outside door you expect to use special code to open door.having problem with entry not helped when presumably the' AI woman 'gets engaged tone when she tries to phone hotel operators.
third visit, previously asked for ground floor room, not garanteed but had ground floor. This time although booking was made well in advance not case tried by phone to confirm always engaged or unobtainable.our booking was made well in advance and we know some friends were given ground floor with short notice booking.confirmation payment okay but not received an invoice.
Very close to central hub
The bathroom was outdated, no staff, very noisy, not value for money - overpriced
Lovely room, comfortable and well equipped
Some communication issues (there was a maintenance issue in my room) at the beginning of the stay, but it was all resolved in a few hours.
This was in a great location. The door codes were sent through and access to the room was straight forward. The room with a 4 poster bed had great views, dual aspect windows. It was spacious and comfortable with a nice ensuite, hot water and powerful.shower. if the bed had been cleaner I would have given this location 10/10
I really liked everything except the lack of cleanliness. The deapes on the 4 poster had what looked like blood stains right by my head and the top of the drapes were very dusty causing allergy problems. When I stripped the bottom sheet off the mattress protector had many old stains on. The towels, sheets, duvet cover & pillowcase were clean but the other bits let it down
Good price bit above basic, suitable for one night, room was facing the main road and heavy volume of traffic through the night and extra busy sevenish, bed clean, bathroom adequate bit small but managed to get a sink ,toilet and shower,if you want comfort you got to pay for it
Good Air BnB , easy to book, easy to get in to, good location and it’s clean and tidy. The hotel is nice, clean & tidy, foyer has a modern feel but the rooms are a little dated and could do with an upgrade. I would stay again for sure becasue of the location whilst visiting the business we own overall it’s a good hotel.
The location was very good, parking was great.
Post our booking the accommodation changed its name from The Taunton Town House to The Taunton House Hotel. The proprietor attempted to take full payment on 29 May 2026, for a stay starting 13 July 2026, with no notice. I had insufficient funds so the payment was declined. I thought this was rather early, over 6 weeks early, for a trip with free cancellation up to 11 July 2026. Tried to contact the proprietor, no luck, the phone rang but was hung up, several times. Contacted Booking .com, they tried no luck. The payment was finally taken on 17 June 2026 a month prior to arrival. This is not the sort of service I have come to expect from accommodation accessed through Booking.com, very disappointed with this proprietor.
Comfy bed, clean room, everything was fine on that score
Don't be fooled. This is not a hotel. It was once, the bar is there but not used, the reception is there but not manned, there was a room laid out with cups and saucers on the tables but that was it. We didn't see a soul the whole time we were there. We might as well have booked a travelodge
Location and parking
Nothing
Easy access, plenty of parking
Nice sized rooms, period features
Good location with parking that met out need The room was light and airy. There was a huge Sainsbury's across the road and a petrol station around the corner.
It was a self check in hotel. I didn't see any staff. A bit pricey for what it was.
The attitude of the host. Called him to ask for the door code because I thought it would be sent on email, but it was sent via SMS. That guy felt annoyed and said Jesus Christ at the end of the call. Overall, not a good start as I didn’t feel welcome
Great location, comfortable, quiet and easy check in
N/A
Basic good bed, decent shower. All that was asked for. On 2nd floor so colleague with mobility problems, I mentioned, struggled a touch but would go back. Only saw cleaning lady- no other staff
See above
no staff, no breakfast and dated room. Very overpriced for what we got
Good location for Taunton town centre. Good size room. Good shower. Good wifi. Clean. Good free parking. Comfortable bed.
In spite of its name , this is not a hotel. No reception, no catering. It is an Air BnB without the breakfast. The key code was provided by text which did not open the front door. We were let in by another resident. The room key was where it was meant to be. The room was through and immediately off a "lounge area". Whilst clean, the minimal decor was old. The whole experience was very impersonal.
very unpleasant and unpolite staff when i call for information as there was no staff in the evening and morning to ask for information.
The space in the room
Nothingp
very large comfy rooms everthing you need for a stay.
Location
The owner extremely rude totally unhelpful was unable to get into my room and was told to leave despite the fact that I had a confirmation and paid for
The humanless check in (and out) is unusual for an hotel but works well The location and parking are very convenient
During the heat wave the room temperature was unbearable and impossible to cool down. The fan was useless and not clean, full of dirt. A fridge for cold water would have been appreciated As the windows could not be closed (see above) the street noise was disturbing at night and early morning Price is excessive.
It was clean & comfortable, and exactly where we needed to be for the BlueTone festival in Vivary Park
No humans. Self checkin, no breakfast.
Very convenient location
We never saw a member of staff as it was self check in. The place felt unwelcoming because of this. We stayed there a few years ago and it was lovely. We had a proper welcome. But now it's soulless. No one on reception. The bar has been stripped bare and no breakfast served. The place feels empty and unloved.
Fantastic stay at Taunton house hotel. Great location here for all the amenities in Taunton and places to go. The room was spotless and very spacious. Car parking was free and they allowed me to leave it there the next day so was ideal.
Real confusion over where the door key was kept - and not as previously stated. I thought the host was gruff when approached for help.
Stayed here on business and was a bit cautious about arriving there and being greeted by a notice asking me to text and get a door code then get my key from a key box. But - it all worked really well. It's a bit odd, there is a reception, a bar area and a small dining room but no sign of anyone and no breakfast offering despite here being a mention of it on the web site. Room was nice enough though and in an odd way it's quite nice not having to deal with reception, checking in etc. I liked it, and it's in a great location with free parking.
The location is perfect. The building itself is lovely.
Nobody there.
A lot of people outside front door not being able to get in because code had not been sent to them.but we did.the toilet made a noise every time you flush.and the pillow were very thin could have done with more firmer or even spare ones
Everything else was ok
Great location, very close town centre, just a couple of mins walk and you're on the main shopping street. Very easy parking immediately outside hotel. Bed was a good size too, and room had 2 fully opening windows and a fan - weather really warm so appreciated the air-flow!
Stayed for 2 nights. After 1st night, the towels were changed and the tea/coffee sachets replenished but the bed was left unmade! This hotel is similarly priced to others in Taunton and the beds are made up on a daily basis in those; was suprised to find it wasn't here. Also no herbal tea-bags of any kind supplied, and none available when I asked. Felt it was over-priced as reception desk unstaffed, (you let yourself in with a key code), and there are no facilities like a bar/cafe or even a drinks/food vending machine. Not even a biscuit next to the room kettle! Issue with the water - the cold tap temperature seems to have a life of it's own - alternates between hot and lukewarm!
Loved the room it was very cosy and comfortable, it was ideal for me due to being close to my work place and there being a Sainsbury’s down the road. It was really clean. It is a really lovely location.
Nothing could of been better for me.
Room was good value......clean/smart, and of course, well situated
Entry could be much easier.....codes texted on the day of arrival OK..........however, arriving in the dark was very difficult to follow access instructions....only by luck did I access property due to a resident......Not clear where room was and didn't find owner easy to follow on a poor mobile line. I suspect most 60 year olds (and over) would have had difficulties. The format of this hotel much changed since my last Taunton trip four (?) years ago
We stayed for one night in a nice room with a 4-poster bed. The hotel was easy to find and had its own carpark. There was no reception and entry to the hotel was by a key code. Then there was a key box just outside your room, so access was easy. It was a 5 min walk to central Taunton where there were some nice cafe's, restaurants and riverside gardens.
Clean, spacious, good location, parking,
Great location, easy to check in, great having parking, nice amount of space in the room.
Cobwebs in the room but otherwise clean.
Free parking
Felt dark , damp and dated. Weird having no staff - felt unsafe. People coming and going all night.
Stay here regularly at Taunton house hotel. Places always very clean and ideal to have free car parking in the town centre. Rooms are spacious and very homely. Ideal location for me for everything I need.
Came across this hotel just driving by. The location is perfect right in the town close to all the shops and amenities. The superior room we booked was very spacious with a cosy seating area. Great smart tv also. The hotel is very grand Victorian with lots of original features which we liked. Will be back there again soon.
Very convenient and good to have easy parking Very quiet
We booked at the last minute for four nights, 11 - 15 April 2026, with some misgivings because the telephone number on the website was not in use. When we arrived there was no one to be seen - just a notice on the door with a mobile number. We rang and were given a code to open the door and another to get the key from the key safe outside the room. The room was clean and bed was comfortable, however, the next morning, there was no hot water in the shower. We rang and were told we had probably showered at the wrong time. The room was not cleaned. Same the next day but we were moved to another room - clean but shabby. This time the shower was fine but the loo was very temperamental and again the room was not cleaned. We left after four days without having seen any one. It felt very odd to be in a hotel , apparently deserted, although the carpark was full. The reviews on the website did not seem to relate to the place in which we stayed. They spoke of breakfast being extra, but we saw no signs of breakfast, and there was no one to ask. There was no information at all in the rooms. I certainly could not recommend it.
Awful, a broken toilet in rm11. Not fixed. Offered to use a downstairs loo, old man middle of the night, not really. All correspondence by text no face to face to solve the problem. Informed I could leave early evening so decided to leave and obtained a refund. Awful awful experience and would definitely not recommend this hotel. I could go on that at 1 point it was thought that was a woman and was I really sure that I was booked into rm 11. Awful.
Nothing
The rude host on the other end of the phone.
Taunton house hotel The room was clean and wash room excellent As wife is disabled was nice to have a ground floor room. It was easy to get in to the hotel with the code.Car parking was excellent. Close to town centre.
I can say there is nothing we did not like and will stay here again
A little dated. But clean and looked after and literally 5 minutes to the town centre.
Nothing it what it is. A comfortable bed within 5 minutes of the town
Nothing
Booked a 4 poster room which was accepted & acknowledged in my booking only to be allocated a family room on arrival -very unprofessional & so very disappointing. Also this accommodation is unmanned, wasnt sent code to get into the building & room … had to read a note on the front door to ring a number - would never have booked this place if id if known this as its stressful to get in.
Clean and central to town
No welcome of any kind.
Great location, spacious, well appointed room
There are no management/staff on site. Entry is by key pad. It was not an issue during my stay but patrons need to be aware of the situation.
Good location
Needs more refurbishing and modernisation. Slightly over priced
Comfortable, city centre.
Didn't realise it was a ghost hotel. No staff, no bar, no restaurant, no breakfast. Very disappointing.
Lovely hotel in the town centre of Taunton. Great little bar at the hotel. They serve à la carte breakfast for an extra cost. Room was spotless very clean and very spacious. So handy right in the town also with all the shops, will be back.
Good business trip here. Easy access and check in from midday, until 24 hours. My room was large with a separate seating area and modern bathroom. Lovely modern bar at the hotel and nice choice for breakfast. Great location in the town also with free parking.
The hotel had a great location just across the road from all the shops and restaurants. Very contemporary inside with a great bar and lounge to relax in. We booked the superior room and was a great size with good attention to detail with all the little extras. Good breakfast choice in the morning as well which was tasty.
Perfect location for us.
Would have liked a small fridge .
Location and architecture
Nothing although breakfast would’ve been nice but not a deal breaker
Nothing wrong with this place. There is dedicated parking beside the hotel. To get in you need to text a number which is given on the door of the hotel and then follow instructions for how to work the key pad which opens the door. The text then gives you your room number and the key is in the door of your room (if I have remembered that correctly!?!). The room was very clean and with all that you need for an overnight stay. Bathroom clean with fresh towels and shower gel provided. The area was quiet. Useful to have a Sainsbury's almost directly opposite. Breakfast is not provided, so less value for money than some other places. I did not see any staff at the hotel, so gave a 4. There is a phone number that you can ring, but that seems a little more intrusive than having a member of staff at reception.
Fantastic stay here in a superior room we booked. Large spacious room kept very clean with nice little touches in the room with luxury hand lotion and shower creams. Free parking was an added bonus right in the town centre also.
Taunton town house is a grand building Victorian in fact. Very modern inside with nice little touches. The room was large and felt very homely. WiFi was very fast and very easy to connect. Free parking was essential and we thought it was very good value for money here.
Booked here last minute on the way down to Cornwall with the family. Very spacious family room with seating area. The place was spotless very clean. The town centre was just across the road so could easily go out for dinner. Will be back on our next visit to the area. Host was very helpful and fast with replying.
My company booked here for a business trip in the area. The superior room was very nicely decorated and modern, also spacious with a nice seating area. The WiFi was very fast which was essential. Also very good to have free parking right in the town centre. Felt very trendy and a good vibe also. Rm 11 I would recommend.
Beautiful town house in the heart of Taunton. Location was spot on right in the town centre just across the road. Lots of boutique shops and places to eat. The place is very grand and inviting. Our room was very specious we were surprised and the attention to detail was very good. Great to be able to leave the car and explore Taunton also.
Terrible. We booked a 4 poster room. We arrived around 8pm to find all the radiators in the room were off (february) so we turned them on but the heating was timed to turn off shortly afterwards so we were left cold all night. The bed was lumpy, sheets didn't fit and the room was dirty, especially the radiators that are caked in dust. Radiator in bathroom didnt work at all and the shower ran initially scolding hot then switched to freezing cold. Terrible place.
What breakfast? Nothing around no smell of cooking no signs up where to go.
Someone to answer the phone when we called.
Everything.
The noise of room above creaking floors next door toilet sound overall soundproofing disturbing all through the night
The building itself is beautiful... Especially the reception area . Access was easy .
I would have liked extra pillows.. but that's a me problem.. I just like that.
Location was great! Very clean and lovely. Affordable. Enjoyed in room coffee and tea. Nice large bathtub
I was unaware that no staff would be there. My code for the front door didn't work. I called the number and a very rude man said it wasn't time to check in yet for about an hour. I came back in an hour and had to call for a new code. Steve, the voice on the phone, who I guess is the manager was very rude. My friend helped me carry in my luggage and we were shocked that no one was at reception. I never saw a desk clerk or anyone during my three day stay. Clean towels appeared so someone came in while I was out sight seeing. The room and location was great but perspective guests should know that no staff is present. It would have changed my mind about booking there. In case of an emergency I feel it is very unsafe.
Cold and no hot water in the evening
It has parking, location is good, bed is comfortable
Everything else is just bad
Good location, short walk to the town centre.
Very odd not having any staff on site, however the code for entry to the hotel was sent to my phone well in advance of arrival.
Super location, comfy beds, dated but clean and quite
Updated drapes carpets etc
Excellent location and comfortable rooms.
Nothing all was good!
