Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Restaurant not crowded. Good choice of seating area.
Bed and pillows slightly to hard for our liking. Bathroom tired and some items needed attention.
Very good for the price.
The lady on breakfast duty in the week was a little loud for my liking .But staff where very friendly.
the room was beautiful and the view was stunning
it was dusty and needed a good hoover
Breakfast ok,wished they did poached eggs.
More hooks in the bathroom to hang towels near shower, also couldn’t stop the water flooding bathroom.
Stayed 2 nights, superbly comfortable and great location. The staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble, always friendly and helpful.
Nothing.
Location was perfect for visiting Oulton Broad, good restaurant for dinner & breakfast
3pm check in
Location and facility was very nice indeed. We made a good choice.
Booking and comms from hotel were excellent. Staff were really friendly and very helpful. Lovely hand written note from housekeeping was a nice touch :-)
Nothing to report!
Room was comfortable
Room location,no view only fire escape.Plumbing in bathroom was bad, shower wouldnt empty plug on sink was stuck in closed position,so couldnt empty sink.
WE HAVE STAYED THERE SEVERAL TIMES AND ALWAYS FOUND IT GOOD. BREAKFAST UP TO EXPECTATIONS.
ROOM SMALLER THAN EXPECTED, NO OPENING WINDOW EXCEPT A TINY SLIT N THE BATHROOM. WASN'T PREPARED TO SLEEP WITH THE DOOR OPEN ,LEADING TO A SHARED BALCONY. MEAT IN CARVERY TOUGH, THOUGH VEG GOOD
Very convenient for where I needed to be. All staff exceptionally polite and helpful.
Dusty bedside cabinet. Bathroom floor not totally clean
Location to broad
Location and on site car park.
Friendly staff Great food. Very clean
The shower was hard to control the water temperature the shower head seemed broken as it just came out in a jet. The phone number to contact night porter to let us in at night seemed like the phone was off couldnt get hold of him the intercom was broken. There wasnt much room to walk around the bed.
Excellent location food amazing everything all under one roof
Everywhere was very clean, the bed was comfortable. Good location, parking on site. The staff kindly put a tub chair in the room on request. All staff were lovely and friendly.
The room was quite dark with a small window and no view. Not many vegan or veggie items on the menu - the only vegan friendly protein at breakfast was baked beans. No water available, only juice.
Limited choice for breakfast. Nothing very hot. Very nice staff but very few at breakfast.
Nothing that we didn't like but very surprised to find a lot of people having a very loud party in front of the hotel.....only the Saturday night!
Friendly and professional receptionist, clean room, lovely bar staff.
The situation of the hotel is great, overlooking Oulton Broad. We had a room with a sea view for our one-night stay and it was lovely to watch the boats from our balcony. The staff were very helpful and it was nice to sit outside on the terrace to enjoy our evening meal. We came by train and it was just a short walk to the station.
The breakfast was disappointing - I prefer muesli, fruit, yoghurt, pastries etc over a traditional cooked breakfast
Clean, comfortable bed, food, informal. I would stay again. Perfect position to enjoy the broads.
Lounge chairs are very low and need replacing.
The new changes like the radio in the room and boxes of tissues really made it better
Need new curtains the ones in the room are very old and torn and didn't close properly
Room and breakfast fine, ate in the hotel twice which was fine. Parking available and good for access to the water.
It was all suitable for our stay.
Location….beautiful views! It was also nice to have food and drinks available all day. The bar made really good cappuccinos.
Shower didn’t drain well and the door was off the track. I don’t know how you could properly clean the shower and not notice this maintenance needed. Lots of dogs, which many would like but many were not suitable for eating areas.
Location.
Too many seagulls! No sleep in 2 days. They are out of control. Expect yawking at night.
Nice carvery
No plugs to charge phone in room and no hot water in the morning so couldn’t shower !!!
Idyllic location, massive car park
Location
Noisy at back, Fri/Sat night
Breakfast was the best, with staff willing to support your every need. Room was quiet and clean Views from downstairs were directly onto the river, very relaxing.
Close to shops and great location for strolls
Bed could be a bit better
Close to train station . Friendly staff , great food , comfy beds
I like a flatter pillow
Would have been nice to have 2 chairs in the room so both me and my wife could sit down at the same time. Would also like a choice of pillows, I prefer a thin one but all the pillows were too big.
Everything was absolutely brilliant the staff were fantastic.
Nothing.
I loved how clean everything was it was like coming from home to home and with my ocd I always find something wrong but not at this hotel. The reception staff was outstanding. We definitely will be coming back
Restaurant the staff was talking among them self's and we were siting there for at least 20 minutes until my father in law got up and went to the staff. And asked how do we gain the tickets so we could eat well he went to get the tickets than me and my partner went to pay to be told we had already when we said no he said we have to gain the tickets to eat so the bar staff was amazing he sorted it. But Restaurant staff could do with retraining as this isn't good enough when I work in Restaurant.
Warm welcome with exellent service from the reception. Beautiful hotel and beautiful location by the river. We would definitely stay here again when in Lowestoft.
Bathroom with tub and shower curtain is not my favorite
The staff, food ,the room, and the views and more the hole experience was wonderful. Thank you. 😉
Nothing
Nice views and close to everything
Bed was a bit hard
Location friendly helpful staff
Breakfast could be better
Lovely charming hotel in a superb location, staff can't do enough for you and are always helpful, polite and professional. Food options are great with a lovely buffet breaky to start long days on the broads. Highly recommend.
It's an old hotel, this has it's charm but also the inevitible wear and tear to be expected. We loved it though :)
Was welcoming and very clean and comfortable.

Lovely hotel with plenty of nice little touches to make it feel a step above the rest.
Room was clean and the view was excellent. The location was good
Dining tables not cleaned very good, half the plates not cleaned right (need a new dishwasher). No continental breakfast not everyone wants a cooked breakfast.
Great location
Stayed in the past was fantastic unfortunately stayed 1 night as part of our honeymoon room was shocking very dirty and worn out which is very disappointing needs a refurb
Brilliant location with plenty of parking Staff were without exception really engaging Hotel was spotless with good facilities Nice touches such as a Robert’s radio in the room and quality biscuits and generous with the tea and coffee refills. Pleasant surprise really. Far better than I’d anticipated
Could have done with a few more healthy eating options on the menu but was we had was very well cooked
Great location
No air conditioning meant is was a little too warm in the room - but it was a heatwave!
family room was a nice size. staff were nice, especially at reception. I have been here several times before and would return again.
The food this time wasn't great. The carvery had flies around it and the buffet breakfast looked a bit lethargic. I dont think the price of both were warranted in my opinion. We ate elsewhere on the second day due to this. The food had been better on previous visits. Our room was slightly stuffy due to the weather but the fans helped with cooling it slightly. Other than those things, we had a pleasant stay.
The location was perfect. Our room faced the bay, beautiful. Breakfast was a great way to start the day. Staff were friendly, helpful and polite.
My only criticism would be the rooms were compact but in some areas looked a tiny bit tired but I understand it hasn't recently been taken over.
Good location good service friendly staff
We enjoyed our stay and fully appreciate how difficult the existing layout of the building must be to make it fit today’s requirements but feel I must give an accurate assessment of my stay in order for you to help future guests be aware of potential difficulty before making their booking. Booked one night £140 +£5 for sea view very nice room - room 112 En suite very small -door very narrow - toilet too close to wall for comfort. The balcony was nice feature but there was nothing to hold on to when negotiating high step. Decided to stay another night but we had to change room £160 - Room 123 - room OK but small window and outlook was road and car park but was more expensive - en suite was slightly larger but again the toilet was too close to wall for comfort - toilet roll storage lodged between radiator ,wall and toilet seat I knew that the rooms were not wheelchair accessible but the walk to rooms had steps in the corridors which made walking with a walking aid difficult - in places the corridor is quite narrow and has many twists and turns
Lovely location in the broads
Smallest room we have had so far with many stays. Nothing wrong with it, was on a hot night with a top window so was quite warm
Staff are always friendly and go above and beyond to help in anyway they can
Been to this hotel several times over the years. Convenient free parking for guests. Pleasant reception staff and staff throughout. Room.was airy with a , much needed, fan. Lovely shower 🚿. Had a meal in hotel which was nicely prepared. Had a few drinks in hotel later that night 🌙. Quiet throughout the night for sleeping 😴. Easy check out following morning 🌄. Shall return when in the broads.
Only criticism would be to be that the bed was a bit too hard for my back & sides.
Love the location and the helpful staff particularly Sam my cleaner and Ashley the receptionist who was very helpful
NO fridhe in the room and it was hot and stuffy because the window opening was stuck but Asley got it sorted.Great location good o
The Wherry is a large hotel overlooking Oulton Broad with lots of parking for residents. Our room was a decent size and even had a balcony area overlooking the Broad, which was a bonus. Spent a few hours during our stay on the balcony just watching the various sailing club activities on the water. Very relaxing! Everyone working at the hotel that we met were very friendly and helpful.

Great place to stay, we really enjoyed it. The staff where friendly and helpfull. Lovelly view off the marina.
Nothing
Spacious and comfortable
Liked everything about the place
Everything it was a beautiful place to stay and Sue who checked us in was very helpful and lovely
There was nothing not to like it was a lovely hotel food was great
We booked Via booking.com last minute, price within a few hours went up considerably and we ended up paying £131 for a standard double which a few hours earlier was priced at £78 and didnt include breakfast!
Would have expected breakfast at the price we paid.
wonderful friendly staff, particularly Ashleigh the receptionist. A really positive experience.
Breakfast not ordered. Carvery excellent
Bar staff service evenings long wait. Also not happy to provide fresh milk for room as advertised.
Parking ,Good Service at the Bar , Lovely Receptionist Ashley .
Bar Hours .
Excellent breakfast and delighted on our third stay to be upgraded
No ussues
Very nice hotel, clean and quite, lovely staff I really enjoyed my stay
Good views and lovely staff.
Looking a bit tired.
Location and friendly staff
Not being able to sleep due to noise of youths .outside and cars . Room was never a superior . Dirty room and bedding. TV too small for room . Luke warm food off carvery and the breakfast. Bath and Bathroom overall awful . That is not a bath!!!
The situation of the hotel is very nice with marvellous views. Staff are very attentive
Room was very hot no air con and no fridge. On the Saturday night all of my choices of food had rtun out by 7pm. The food we received was not of a good standard,
The room (209) is a luxury suite with a balcony and fantastic views out over Oulton Broad. Watch boats coming and going, seagulls soaring past the balcony, a large group of swans and lovely scenery. We have stayed before and found that they have added a DAB radio to the room; this was very useful. Free slippers, tea/coffee/water and biscuits provided. All really good. A truly excellent experience that will not disappoint. The weather was exceptional, which was great, but even on a dreary day this is a nice place to stay. Free parking on-site.
The pub is buzzy with friendly staff and good views out over the broads but we felt the choice and quality of the food lets it down badly. There is a mismatch between the lengthy wait for not great meals and the lively upbeat pub atmosphere….a great shame.
The location was great, nice and friendly staff
Nothing
Great hotel in great location. Will return
Very nice staff especially Celine
More coat hangers and aircon
Location, restaurant and attitude of staff, who were very friendly and helpful
Nothing that would deter me from going again
Location meals drinks room
Nothing
First class view
sorry to say the vegan meals we were served were bad ,food was cold looked like leftovers from dinner time obviously it was not eaten when I mentioned it a quick apology and then thrown in bin ,vegan food is not taken seriously it’s time resterants have a designated area to serve decent vegan meals .
Buffet breakfast wasn't as good regarding choice as it was when we last went.
Lovely breakfast set out for you to help yourself
Quiet with great parking
Didn't partake
Located on the waterfront. Large room with sitting area and a large TV.
The room faced the main road and was a little noisy with windows open. The room was difficult to get to, through many doors and narrow corridors. The bathtub plug did not work.
Breakfast was very good. The room had a nice view although the window was small
the decor in the room such as paintwork and curtains need attention
Lovely location to sit, have a drink and watch the sun go down over the Broads.
I guess we got the last room. Only a view of the kitchen fans. The accessible bathroom smelled of mould.
Have stayed here before and position suits us while visiting family
Everything
Nothing
Location is really good for exploring the local area. Room was basic but clean and comfortable. Bar , dining and reception staff were very welcoming , friendly and helpful.
During our stay there was a function , Rave Bingo ,which was extremely noisy. The bar and restaurant was absolutely packed with people waiting to get in to the function room which made it difficult for residents to get to the bar to order food and drink. Unfortunately for us our room was directly above the function room and the noise was intolerable. Our window was vibrating with the bass noise as was the side unit. I was forewarned a couple of days before that there was an event but I honestly didn’t think it would be as bad !! I did mention this to reception when checking and the receptionist apologised. I had previously stayed at the Wherry and found it to be very good. I’m not sure I will return and definitely won’t if there is another Rave Bingo night. It’s a shame because otherwise it’s a really good place to stay.
It’s location
Slight odour in the bathroom
Everything
The noise from a rave night
Stayed here many times, staff are always friendly and helpful 🙂
Room was not as pictured on website . But ok clean and balcony was great . Storage good . Bathroom lovely and nice toiletries t
There was nothing to dislike . Just room a bit small
Small steps of improvement throughout the hotel. such as tissues and water and glasses in the bedroom. Breakfast was excellent as usual. ( could be improved with tinned tomatoes that they used to have, and a serve yourself coffee and tea machine as premier inn do)
Nothing all good been going there for about 30 years
Comfortable room, clean and quiet.
Food from the restaurant wasn't particularly great to be honest. We missed the Carvery by one hour and just ordered burgers from the main menu. They were a bit dry and tasteless
We are coming here since 2010 and we love to stay here.
I think new smart TV as everybody like new technologies.
The staff were really friendly
It was a little confusing navigating to my room
everything was very good!!!!
Everything was very good!!!
The view!!! The staff. The quietness. The free parking in site. The ample milk sachets- so rare these days! A very small but nicely fitted en suite shower room.
The pillows were very thick and solid so we had neck ache the morning after. The food downstairs in the restaurant was not the greatest (eg pale chips as opposed to golden crispy.. perhaps just really busy that night?) but it had everything you need on the menu. I'd try the carvery next time as that looked delicious

Food was awesome, polite staff and early morning staff, just 1 snag bed linen wasn't changed once while we were there in the 4 days especially in this heat but apart from that all good.
