Large room, great shower
Standard BW location, restaurant wasn’t bad, but not great.
Golf and spa
Not enough private/quiet areas to avoid large groups
Nothing,we didn't stay
Didn't like waiting an hour and a half for our room even though we got there after 3pm We were told at check in that they had staff shortages and to wait in the bar until our room became ready. Didn't expect to wait over an hour, our room still wasn't ready so we left. We weren't even offered a drink or sandwich while we waited. We also thought the pictures on your site didn't truly reflect the hotel. The reception was pretty basic. The bar was too. Didn't get to see a room.
Piscine, belle chambre spacieuse, parking et le bistro.
Golf course was good
Overall facility looking a bit tired
Rooms were large, location was good with a nice outlook across the gold club
This hotel could do with a complete renovation, it’s very tired. It seemed to us that there was a management issue, staff did not seem happy although they were trying their best. Everything from check in to having a drink in the bar seemed to be a problem. You also need to ask for your room t be cleaned or if you want a change of towels.
Breakfast and evening meal
The room was outdated , dirty, scuff marks and lot of black mould on the paintwork, also no shower gel, needs a complete overhaul, usb connector on 2 plugs need to be modernised, bed had springs that stuck into you
Service was good with friendly staff. Food was good. Lovely location and good facilities.
The corridors and shared spaces were not clean they needed a hoover and dust. The flooring was grubby and could do with a clean or replacement. On arrival there needs to be a better welcome the reception needs a little care. A few pot plants out the front clean windows and doors. Flowers and signs would help.
Friendly atmosphere, beautiful grounds, good service, lovely swimming pool!
Top floor room very hot & shower slightly unreliable
Food good room comfortable
Swimming pool unavailable
We waited 1 hour and 25 minutes for check-in. Although we arrived 30 minutes early, the receptionist served everyone else in the queue before us. She promised to let me know when our room was ready, but she never did. Meanwhile, she had plenty of cheerful and long conversations with other guests, and even welcomed some of them with gifts. After I asked 3-4 times, they told us the room was still not ready and that we had to leave. They did not give us an estimate of when it would be available, or even offer us a glass of water, even though we were clearly exhausted. Let alone an upgrade. Maybe it was because, unlike the other guests, we were not white Britons. I don't know. The customer experience was horrible.
We upgraded to a room with a view !? No view …??
The room was dull , plain , just didn’t feel nice …
Breakfast was fair standard but in Ist morning they had a large golf competition and ignored the hotel guests. We waited over an hour and then breakfast served was dreadful!
Needed more staff to cope with large numbers. No excuse as this wasn’t an unplanned event. Spa was closed for maintenance on one day.
The golf club
The rooms and shower
good breakfast, nice bar and pool table, great location, spacious room, nice beds
-
Lovely location.
No Aircon, we were there in one of the hottest days of the year, 30C +. They did have an electric fan in each room which helped.
Good location and parking. Great views of golf course. Helpful friendly staff. Clean and comfortable room
Nothing!
Friendly staff and decent food, great golf break location.
It’s a bit tired and could do with a spruce up and some air conditioning.
Breakfast OK if you wanted a cooked breakfast but not so great if you didn't ( we didn't)
See above
All was most satisfactory.
Nothing to improve
Quiet
Pot holes in the road
Beds were comfy Super bathroom Quiet
Reception staff could make an effort Hotel needs to be renovated Corridors dirty. Carpet needs to be replaced
Near to Dartmouth
Unclean , very dated.. very poor standards
Solid English breakfast & kids eat free bonus
Location
Cleanliness. Room was disgustingly unclean on check-in. Black footprints all over the bathroom tiled floor. Mould on bathroom tiles and shower screen. Floor not vacuumed, and room full of dust. No aircon. The hotel itself is in need of some serious maintenance and renovation
The barman Chris was very funny and charismatic, made good of some bad situations. Spa staff were very friendly. Food was good.
The whole hotel was unfortunately very dirty. The bar had run out of many drinks and also had very limited glasses. Not the end of the world but had to drink a glass of wine out of a gin bowl. No milk alternatives at breakfast ie oat/soya.
We enjoyed the spa a lot. Moreover, we were allowed to use it completely free of charge even after we checked out. The room was comfortable and clean, with a massive bed and a thoughtfully placed table and two chairs next to the window for a romantic dinner.
The outdoor extractor fan didn't help us sleep well, and we couldn't keep the window open to cool the room because of the noise.
We had lovely room, good choice breakfast,my husband played golf twice.
Room was large and clean, bed was big and comfortable. Shower was great and really powerful. Receptionist Bindy was really helpful and friendly.
Hair dryer was rubbish so don’t rely on that. No aircon and the room was so hot, I wrongly assumed they had it. We stayed for 2 nights and nobody check if we needed extra tea/coffee towels but when we called reception they were provided straight away. Carpet was threadbare in places. Spa was run down and it all needs a bit of an upgrade. Having said that it was a cheaper price compared to other hotels locally for this time of year.
Very friendly staff m, comfortable room and good breakfast
Service at breakfast was a little slow.
Nice bar and outside area, nice evening meal
A little run down
Peaceful location in beautiful countryside. Loved the gym/pool and bar and restaurant was bright and airy.
Nothing
Staff were fantastic. Our room ladies gave us extra biscuits 😋 The young bar man was lovely. The 2 ladies on reception were fantastic. Breakfast was well organised in the morning and was lovely. The views are beautiful. The golf course was well kept. Plenty of parking.
Big bed and was comfy
No one to check us in, run down, could do with updating, expensive for what it is
Breakfast had a good selection, dinner was reasonably priced, room was clean, staff were helpful and found my missing wallet
The mattress was a bit hard but it wasn’t a major issue
Friendly staff
Pool and surrounding areas not always clean. Food choice limited
The location of the property suited us as sits in between Totnes and Dartmouth. Parking being included in ideal**
It was a bit rugged. Nearly bumped my head a few times in the strangely formatted roof surface near the window, which was also right above the beds. The facilities in the room such as the bathroom, shelves, and curtains looked like it needed a bit of TLC. **It was also very popular with golfers, between 10 and 12, the car parking is a full.
Staff
Dirty
The room was very clean, with plenty of coffee's etc, there was a fan in the room aswell which was needed in this heat. The staff were really friendly and helpful
Spacious room, lovely location
Room was super hot
Location, facilities and friendly staff were great.
Bed was slightly firm for my preference. Given the exceptional hot weather provision of added portable air con unit or windows opening wider would have been more comfortable at night.
We liked the pool, and the fan in the room in exceptional July heat
The price of breakfast & the bar closing when the England football team played
Location
Tired building, hallways dirty, tables dirty, toilets dirty
Spacious, lovely location, friendly staff.
Good location Free parking Nice food at restaurant
Dated decor Hotel reception area could be more open and welcoming - just very dated 10min drive out of Dartmouth but you can get to park &ride easily
Everything
Tv didn’t work but soon sorted
We didnt have breakfast, but we did eat in the evenings. Both meals were nice.
Disappointed that the jacquzzi wasnt working. We also felt the driveway in, needs looking at.
It was very convenient for the wedding we were attending.
We have no complaints about the property or the Service.
My room was clean and expected Jema the clearer had left chocolates thank you
It has everything I needed
Einzig, die Lage!
Altes, verbrauchtes Hotel, dies eigentlich neu gebaut werden müsste!
Nothing
They lied, changed my dates, and now everything is canceled without my knowledge. Nobody gave me back my money; in the end, I'm down £300 and have no holiday! Definitely do not recommend!
Great location.scenic.Good value
Nothing
restaurant under staffed buffet breakfast items not replemished long wait tables left dirty
long wait cutlery dirty
Nice properly dog friendly hotel, with a nice dog walk area. Staff great with the dog.
Very hot weather and had no air con. A fan was provided but only small.
De façon générale nous avons apprécié l’endroit.
Pas de machine à café dans les chambres! Chambre de bain petite.
Not a lot!
Much further out of Dartmouth than advertised If you want to stay in a golf club fine!! Thought there would be more outside seating! A garden etc! Taxi into Dartmouth £20 each way Didn’t stay for the full length of our trip. Also dining and bar area were so understaffed! One lovely lad was trying his hardest at evening dining and breakfast the next morning! He needs a medal!!!
Location
It was a shame the hot tub was not working
The 2 receptionists and staff in bar / food / breakfast were good and helpful.
The inside of property was more like a 2 star. Asked a staff member in the ‘office’ for a toilet brush as not in bathroom. She was rude to me; and said no bathroom or this public hotel toilet had toilet brushes. If any room (toilet) needs cleaning she said we have to call receptionist and someone would come and clean toilet. (OMG what if this was 1am and 3am e.g. in morning). When cleaning rooms I saw that 1 toilet brush is used to clean all rooms in hotel. The opinion is that by this being done this would spread infection etc from 1 room to all others (toilet).
./.
Staff were very friendly and professional. Spa facilities met our expectations. However, the overall impression was the hotel looked tired and in need of an update.
The bedroom seating area was positioned so that you hit your head when getting up. The bedside lights could only be activated by physically getting out of bed. The bathroom was old fashioned and lacked safety rail for access to bath.
From the moment we walked into reception, to getting to our room, ( thank you Sophie) to all the waiting staff at dinner and breakfast,( sorry can't recall all your names ) we felt looked after. There was plenty of choice for meals too.
Bacon, sausage and eggs were sitting in oil a little too much. ..looked greasy but were tasty Some of the dining chairs look as if they need a clean.
It’s very bland no fresh cooked eggs any day cereal choices very poor
Chef on hand for making omelette or scrambled eggs and fresh fried eggs
Location. Comfortable room
Expensive meals and drinks. Limited breakfast choice
Liked the bar area, swimming pool and sauna, room, breakfast and location.
Didnt like the bar/restaurant menus, overpriced and based on fast food items found in any suppliers catalogue (£20 for a burger) Other Items we might have chosen were unavailable as they were popular? Drinks were expensive as well but thats the same everywhere these days I suppose.
Staff a bit abrupt
Very clean and great staff
very happy with the car parking. this was a prime consideration for the accomodationavailable in that area
Meal time booking organisation favoured external group bookings over resident requirements
Very good breakfast service was very good
Unfortunately the pool wasn't open on are stated which was disappointing
Fantastic stay, thank you , I’d highly recommend
Room was nice, facilities were good. An overall comfortable stay
The breakfast on day 1 was not good - the food was fine but nearly everything had run out and they were not replenishing stuff in a timely manner. We ordered eggs and it took so long we cancelled them and went without. For £15.95 pp this should be better. Second day was considerably better staffed and fine. The fire alarm went off at 2:45am, there was little to no direction from staff. When we did eventually find a staff member he just shrugged and said false alarm. Just as well. They need to work on their policies should there actually be a fire.
The location is lovely, the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and tidy. The shower was good. The food in the restaurant was great with a nice selection. Good value for money.
Room was basic and tired. The curtains on the window didn’t meet so light streamed in early. The extra bed had a thin mattress so I could feel the struts underneath.
Location
The spa was excellent and just what I needed after the day of kayaking!
Had not realised we did not have breakfast included, but enjoyed the porridge, even if it was very expensive!
The Shower was powerful and refreshing. The view onto the golf course was just wonderful
Hair on radiator and dust along the shower tray. Toilet roll holder was rusty
Comfortable and convenient
Nothing to dislike
De omgeving en de golfbaan waren prachtig
Het totale onderhoud van het hotel was achterstallig. De mooie ligging maakt veel goed
The suite had a lovely space and good comfy bed
the interior was a little tired and shabby in a few places. The triangular windows in the room the curtains didn’t meet when unhooked so quite a bit of light let in through them even when ‘closed’
The room was spacious quiet and the bed was really comfortable. The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. The hotel is in very peaceful surroundings
The building and some of it's fittings were looking tired
Great staff and able to take the dog inside at bar area.
None
Lovely location & facilities
Beautiful views from one side, we just had a driveway & deliveries ! Bedrooms were very dated and could do with updating !!
The views, staff and size of the rooms!
Surprised that a full English breakfast wasn’t included in the price. Also surprised that it was £15pp - quite expensive!!
Met our needs. Adequate.
We were in the suite 307. Curtains dud not meet so early morning light woke me me. Toilet bowl was stained.
Location
Looking a bit tiered
It was comfortable and quiet
The outlook wasn’t great.
Good location. Pleasant staff.
Not very clean. Bathroom not very clean. Restaurant not clean, food all over the floor and still there at breakfast. Breakfast very basic.
The convience, location
A little outdated. pool area could benifit from a deep clean
The hospitality team were amazing, super friendly and welcoming
The spa area / changing rooms could be cleaner
Good location and nice pool
Decor is dated and layout odd
Lovely location outside of beautiful Dartmouth with lots of space and scenery. Great beauty spa, which was a surprise, but the pool was very small, and kids' swim time was when we went down, so we just had a great massage. Beds were comfy enough. The grounds are nice, but the exterior of the building was dirty. Good parking. Didn't see any big cats prowling from Dartmoor!
The building was rather dated and dirty/tatty in places that need some attention, both interior and exterior. Window areas need cleaning in rooms, restaurant etc. Food was ok but nothing special, Bar was limited and with a large group of golfers/stag party the staff struggled to cope. We were overcharged for drinks that never arrived which we got refunded and then left. We had a superior room and it felt more like a basic Travel Lodge, unfortunately but higher room rates and stained sheets.
Completely beautiful location. Destressed me completely with spa. Food excellent
Had a nice view from our room, Easy to get to Clean Food was very good
Reception staff on arrival were very friendly, staff on reception when we left were not friendly.
It was dog friendly
Bed was bit firm
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The dog was welcomed with a bed and bowls, plus a dedicated dog walk. The chef adapted our menu on request and went to a lot of trouble. Good pool, wonderful setting.
The menu had few vegetarian or healthy options.
We were really looking forward to staying here for me, a walk down memory lane as far as Dartmouth concerned but, the hotel is dated in parts our hotel room needed a refurb that’s for sure, we did have a dog friendly room costing an additional £15 per night we were told because we had a dog our room would not be serviced I can understand if our dog was there but as he came with us a sign on the door saying please service would be an option but not offered. We used the pool area which was good but found the spa staff very unfriendly no greeting it was just “well, what do you want?” we had to ask for towels on both occasions. As this is a holiday destination I would expect a friendly smile and greeting when interacting with staff the bar staff and guy in the bistro were very friendly so big up to them. As I come from a hospitality background I would suggest some staff training maybe needed or staff asked if they actually want to be there.
Visited the Spa for the Twilight experience 5- 8pm yesterday. This was part of my wife’s birthday celebration, so a special occasion. The hotel receptionist was very pleasant and directed us to the Spa, where the receptionist was less welcoming. The facilities themselves are not as shown in the photographs. The gym is very small… in fact ridiculously cramped. The whole facility is very tired looking with broken and rusty lockers. The sauna had duck tape holding things in place and looked shabby. The pool experience was completely ruined by eight 16/17 year olds jumping in the Spa Pool/ bombing and play fighting. The pool was not lifeguarded or supervised. As a qualified lifeguard/ trainer I can say that their behaviour was actually dangerous. Had there been any management of the pool they would have been asked to leave. My wife complained at the hotel reception, but no details were actually recorded for follow up action. A real shame as the location is lovely, it just lacks upkeep and management.
Good wellness, sauna, pool, good location, tasty food, nice welcoming at reception
Cleanliness of the room, it also could have been more space / sitting areas around the pool
Everything was good nothing in particular except:- Big shout out to Andy in the restaurant. Very cheerful and happy to help despite being very busy. Thank you again Andy.
Nothing thank you
Enjoyable two night stay at this hotel. Pros first: staff are all friendly and helpful. We ate in the restaurant both evenings and enjoyed good food, freshly prepared. Breakfast was plentiful and covered options from continental to full English, no issues with choice at all. Our bedroom was spacious with a comfortable bed and a newly refurbished bathroom, good shower and fluffy white towels. The swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room are included with your stay (spa treatments extra). Enjoyed making use of these facilities. Now to the cons: the hotel is very tired and at the time of our visit there was an issue with the drains which caused unpleasant smells in the communal hallways and near the spa. The windows were dirty, detracting from the view from the bistro. The windows in the bedroom are single glazed, don't open, and streamed with condensation in the morning. The carpets are very grubby and small things like a lot of dust on top of the bedside lamps and TV let the room down. The stair carpets are really past their best and dirty, not a good example of Best Western at all. The redeeming features of the hotel don't quite outweigh the negatives and I am not sure about a return visit, unless the place is upgraded.
Pleasent hotel , quite location , nice staff, left a review already forgot to mention LILLY , great personality, lovely to talk to. , helpful , nothing to much trouble, THANKYOU FOR CLEANING OUR ROOM. Great job Lilly
