There was no toilet seat on the toilet The food was terrible in fact we had one pizza which we could not cut it was so burned we could not eat it and the sweet was burnt and hard on the outside and the sticky toffee sweet was cold on the outside and only warm in the middle

Hotel was clean, staff were friendly and plenty of parking. The surrounding area was so quiet and peaceful. Everywhere on the grounds was so well maintained. Food in the restaurant was really good. Central location for everywhere we wanted to visit.

1. We chose the Thai Vegetable Curry + rice in the evening... very disappointing... no hint of Thai flavours, more like a Vegetable curry... 2. Slippy bath whch we daren't use... My fault, shud hav requested walking shower!!

We liked the location.

They seem to be not aware of the dangers of cyber crime. We stayed here 3 times before over the years, despite the bad restaurant (we simply stopped using that) and tired rooms. It was convenient for us because of family nearby.. We always book and pay through booking.com, also to limit the amount of places where my credit card is used, but the third time we stayed here they asked for my credit card, they had no card reader, so the receptionist typed in all the particulars manually. This shocked me, because it seemed unsafe, considering the amount of cybercrime. A week or so later,, I seen an unknown transaction to "Roblox" on my bank statements. Wookey hole hotel was the only place I used my card, so ...I emailed them, but never got a reply. Despite this, we booked there again for a stay last week. Through Booking.com, fully paid. Maybe naive, I thought that if they ask for the card, they will either have a card reader by now, or will surely understand, if I tell them what happened, that they wouldn't type the particulars (including security number) in manually. I was wrong. The receptionist told us he would not check us in if I didn't hand over the card. A refund was not possible, it was paid for 4 days earlier. He said things like "you don't have to stay here". Our stay was obviously not a relaxed one. When we checked out, we asked another receptionist if our card particulars will be taking out of the system and told him what happened to our account the last time we stayed there. Within 1 or 2 minutes his answers became rude/nasty. I didn't accuse anyone, just told him what happened and said that it would not be such a problem if they simply had a card reader. Tried to make them aware of the risk of cybercrime. But he even called me a liar ??? (Why would I lie about this?) So a very stressful time indeed. Not just because of the risk for our credit card, but the attitude of the staff was unbelievably hostile.

Shower over the bath slippery bordering on dangerous. Warning was clear but needing to ask for rubber mat was not helpful. Breakfast not to the same standard as dinner. Drinks and dinner could not be charged back to the room.

Really good location. The hotel was clean, comfortable and the staff were lovely. The breakfast was really good value for money.

We liked the location and the size of our rooms. Very clean and bright. Staff members were very friendly and helpful.

2 for 1 cocktails were very disappointing. I believe they were bought in prepared and not made at the bar. The breakfast was also disappointing. Were they real scrambled eggs or some sort of reconstituted powder version? Horrible and inedible. Danish pastries were stale. I would have complained and asked for a refund but the staff members were very good and we didn’t want to burden them with our negative comments.

Needs better maintenance

The staff were very friendly and helpful. the room was spacious with very comfortable beds. It was a reasonable base for the sites and I would recommend to my children for a cheaper family stay.

I need to bare in mind that this was a more 'economy' hotel , so I shouldn't compare it to the more premium brands. We felt the food was okay, breakfast was a bit better than the evening meal. We didn't feel that dining was relaxing; the area wasn't very big and I think the nature of visitors meant that it was 'busy'. Also, and it can't be helped, the bedroom overlooking the car park meant it was very noisy in the evening.

The breakfast at Wookey Hole Hotel offered a good variety of options, including a selection of cooked and cold meats, freshly prepared pastries, and a range of other breakfast choices. Overall, there was a pleasant selection to cater to different tastes and preferences.

The family rooms were looking a little tired and showed some signs of wear and tear. However, this was not unexpected given the hotel’s popularity with families and the high level of use these rooms are likely to receive. Overall, the room was comfortable and functional for a family stay.

The location, the friendly staff, the room with the balcony, the well-stocked and plentiful breakfast and the cleanliness of the room. Seemed like good value for money too.

Decor and furniture a little tired and odd placings of furniture. We had 2 small round tables in ours and a long desk with just 1 chair up one end. A fold up bed was also blocking the hanging rail. No doors on shelving unit or in front of the hanging rail. Reception felt a bit like swimming pool/leisure centre reception, not a hotel.

The staff were great. The buildings and bedrooms were very clean and comfortable.

Unfortunately some of the guests were very loud but the staff dealt with it with great professionalism.

Staff are always super lovely and helpful, rooms are always spotless and the beds are comfy. It’s easy to locate whilst also being quiet at night.

We didn't have breakfast but did have evening meals in the restaurant. The options were limited but well cooked. The staff were really friendly and helpful. We actually extended our stay by one night.

We had the water cut off one morning without notice. We understand repairs are be necessary and can be urgent but a little heads up would have been nice. Even reception were not informed so the poor guy was running around trying to find out what happened!

Staff were excellent and very friendly we used hotel as an overnight stop to meet up with family for an onward journey stayed here as it was good value but place and setting made it special.

Bar was having a little trouble with their beer supplies but they were very apologetic and everything got sorted it did not spoil our visit

Disruption due to wedding reception

Nice big room. Bed was comfy.

There was a big green light in the room by the door that was on all night so it made the room very light. There was a connecting door between us and the room next door, on the morning of leaving i realised the door was not locked. I don't know if the neighbours door was locked as i didn't like to try but if as a woman i was staying in that room on my own i would not have been happy with my door not being locked whether the other door was locked or not.

Although the room was a good size, it was an unusual shape. The single beds were to all purposes in the middle of the room, totally free standing, so not good for pillows remaining on a bed or helping support children from falling out of bed

Our room was situated right next to the kitchen so it was noisy right outside the window of the room till late and again early in the morning with staff talking and banging around. We understand people have a job to do and that incurrs noise but it meant this was not a quiet room, aftrr all.

The room was filthy, stained patches in the carpet. Tv tiny and a smell coming from the bathroom that made the two of us unwell so door had to be kept shut all evening. Mattresses and bed were so lumpy and uncomfortable to sleep on one bed lower and shorter from the other a complete waste of money. Smell of damp throughout the room. Stayed one of the two night’s purely because we were to tired to drive

There was nothing “wrong” with our room however it was hard to cool the room in the abnormally hot weather. Can’t really blame the hotel for that.

Staff are brilliant as was the breakfast. Ideal location for obvious reasons and only 5 minutes from Wells with it's Cathedral and sights plus shops. Big Family room. Good clean huge towels.

The wash basin was cracked! Staff knew but it was still cracked! Inevitably with children, paintwork was scuffed. Inevitably noisy if your room is by the entrance but still ok. Bed as hard as a rock.

Location was stunning, hotel was what you would expect from a family hotel, didn't try the food as we ate out.

The angle of the shower was frustrating, water going to the far side of the bath.

It was very close to where we needed to go, easy to find and the room was a good size.

The shower in the room was badly situated and unless you were really tall unusable.

Wonderful friendly welcome when we arrived in the evening from the lovely receptionist.

I went for a wedding . Having a chargeable mini bus from Bristol Temple Meads for guests might be useful as took a taxi there and back which cost me £160. Hotel was very good value . Clean and comfortable , lovely staff . A golf buggy to take very elderly or less able wedding guests to and from the cave entrance is a must .

The room was clean with clean bedding and very comfortable. My son really appreciated the single bed which is large with good support unlike some places where the additional beds are usually thin mattresses on small squeaky frames. We had breakfast and dinner there. The food was great with good portion sizes and the price was reasonable. The service staff were friendly and attentive. We very much appreciated the speed at which the staff got in touch with us regarding our laptop which we inadvertently left behind - which we meant that we could pick it up quickly without too much hassle!

The WiFi in our room could be boosted a bit more but as we only had a short leisurely stay it wasn’t an issue.

Only good thing was that it’s near the Wookey Hole caves.

What a terrible hotel! Our room smelled like sigaret smoke, which was awful. Also very dusty and noisy at hall way with smashing doors. When we asked for a table for dinner, they said there was no place for us, although most tables were empty. When we then asked if we could order a pizza for roomservice they said that was also not possible, because the chef could not handle more orders. So we all went to bed hungry since there were no options in the area either.

Rather tired rooms - toilet roll holder barely held on the wall, no biscuits on the refreshment tray, rather uncomfortable beds - the mattress toppers were so flat they weren't really worth having and you could feel every spring! Would have been nice to have the bed made tidy when the room was serviced after the first night! The bath / shower gel was very high on the wall so having a bath meant you had to keep standing up to get the product and it really wasn't very nice on my hair

The location was excellent for the music festival, and there was always plenty of parking. The rooms are spacious and beds comfortable. Breakfast was simple, but all tasted good.

The breakfast room is echoes a lot, which makes it feel very noisy when there are lots of people there (especially kids). It could do with some sound dampening.

The dinner and breakfast menus weren't great, so we didn't eat at the hotel. Rooms were good but no personality. A dressing table with no chair.

Excellent Staff & location. Windows open which was great as it was a heatwave and additional fan given for room.

The room & bathroom was just very tired looking no extraction fan for bathroom so once everyone had had a shower it was not great. Not much has changed from 10yrs ago when we last stayed.

Great location. Loved the idea of the exec suite in the witches hat.

Room needs a deep clean. Marks around baseboards and walls downstairs. Windows- the ones that can be easily accessed full of old cobwebs, dead insects and fly poo, cobwebs on wall lights and on the rafters between the living room and the rounded maisonette bit. Sheet didn't fit the bed due to the irregular shape, if you have a bespoke bed get bespoke sheets.

No air conditioning, small fan provided but not very effective, room could do with being refurbished , marks on the walls, wood chipping off on bathroom door and back of chair, lump of rust metal sticking up in bathroom where door stop should have been,looks like blood spot on net curtain ,partner cut his foot on it and we are just waiting to see if it gets worse.

Only quibble would be no in room air con, BUT staff did provide an extra fan and we did visit right in the uk’s 5th heat wave. So was bearable but air con would have made it fantastic.

It is comfortable enough with a large car park and not too far from Wells (if you have a car). Large room.

WiFi was a bit poor. Shower was slightly haphazard as to the water temperature. We were there during the heat wave and there is no air-con so it was rather hot in the room. Breakfast is a rather crowded affair despite need for booking.

The most uncomfortable beds - hard as rocks. Laying on the floor would have been more comfortable. Terrible food - children’s food over salted and burnt Staff not polite or particularly helpful - had to practically frog march a member of staff to collect a duvet for one of the beds in the room as they hadn’t left a duvet pillow or sheet for he extra bed. Had to ask 4 times for duvet and told each time it would be 5 minutes.

Very clean and comfortable. Great Location for the Wookey Hole attraction with plenty of parking. Good food which check was reasonably priced and good value breakfast options Lovely grounds and area for dog walking.

Additional costs such as Games room within the hotel ( not stayed on website) and additional costs within the attraction such as gold panning and penny arcade. In two occasions, my request to change reservation times of breakfast and Dinner had not been updated, however it was accommodated. Inexperienced staff at busy times.

Rooms and view were exceptional

Breakfast was alright it's just that there was no flow when getting breakfast you had to keep going back on yourself getting in other guests way and things were not labelled and missing condiments and juice

The staff were friendly and helpful, very comfortable and had all we needed in the room can't complain about anything good night away and fun at the caves then wells cathedral the next day breakfast was lovely plenty to eat (buffet).
