I really appreciated the room service; very attentive and the room got checked more than once a day for cleanlyness and if we had enough drinking water.

the possibility of renting the room for only part of a day was not advertised. And when we tried to ring the hotel in advanve the phone line was out of order.

We had a wonderful stay at Avani Kalutara. The location is beautiful, the property is spacious, clean, and very well maintained, making it a relaxing place to unwind. The food was excellent, especially the Sri Lankan dishes. The crab curry served with Sri Lankan roast bread was absolutely delicious and a standout meal during our stay. I highly recommend trying it. The staff were consistently friendly, professional, and very well trained, providing excellent service throughout our visit. Another highlight was the 24-hour gym, which is well equipped and convenient for guests who like to work out at any time of the day. Overall, a fantastic stay, and I would happily recommend Avani Kalutara to anyone looking for a relaxing beach resort with great hospitality and excellent local cuisine.

One area for improvement is the room description on Booking.com. My room was marketed as having a "lagoon view," but from the room I stayed in, there wasn't really a view of the lagoon. When sitting by the window or on the balcony, the view was mainly of the lawn, with the lagoon not visible in any meaningful way. I would suggest describing these rooms more accurately so guests know what to expect. Clearer room titles or descriptions would help avoid disappointment and ensure expectations match the actual view.

Great value for money. Fantastic gym at the Avani (interestingly it is better than the nearby Anantara gym). Nice to be able to share some facilities with the Anantara. Staff is very friendly.

Sometime service can be slow but made up by the fact that everyone was so friendly and genuinely wanted to be helpful. Maybe I’m just impatient 🥲

Localização num sítio magnífico de grande beleza natural. Comodidades do resort com elevado padrão. Staff de grande simpatia e muito prestáveis. Quarto muito confortável e como elevado nível de cuidado na limpeza.

AC do quarto pré-programado e de difícil configuração. Menu à la carte pouco diversificado sem pratos de entradas. Ainda que a praia seja pública, considero que o hotel deveria fazer um esforço e promover limpeza do areal que se apresentava com bastantes plásticos trazidos pelo mar e deixados por gente local, o resort só teria a ganhar com iniciativas de limpeza e educação social.

Beautiful location

C'est vrai que l'emplacement est magnifique avec une très belle piscine au bord de la plage. Le personnel est à l'écoute et très convivial. La chambre est belle, avec une salle de bain moderne. Le buffet du matin et soir est très varié, avec des produits locaux et internationaux. Nous avons eu un petit soucis avec un repas à la carte, mais tout a été réglé a notre entière satisfaction et nous remercions encore la direction et son manager pour sa compréhension et ses excuses... Nous avons que des recommandations à formuler pour ce très bel hôtel, de première catégorie.

Pas de prise pour le sèche cheveux dans la salle de bain, difficile de se coiffer dans l'espace de la chambre vers une prise compatible..

Hotel crew is excellent, everybody is trying to make your stay better. Rooms were big enough and very clean all the time.

There is always 5-10men outside pool area like predators waiting for prey. Coffe at breakfast is really bad.

Loved the architecture and low-rise buildings and gardens. In our opinion it was much nicer and better maintained than the sister Anantara resort next door (through which you have to drive to get to the Avani). The pool was nice, although there were very few umbrellas and could have been a few more sunbeds. The staff (especially the manager) were very helpful (they actually did what was promised which, in our experience, makes a change in Sri Lanka!). The hotel was very clean and we found we settled in after a couple of days, but wouldn’t wanted to have stayed for more than 3 or 4 nights. A good stop off on the way to or from Colombo.

Rooms sold as “sea view” don’t have a sea view unless they are above ground floor as the buildings are below beach level. The lagoon isn’t the most pleasant with views of the busy town and some rubbish on the shoreline. The beach has very coarse sand and the sea is very rough so swimming isn’t possible a lot of the time. There are also trip salesmen camped permanently on the beach who are annoying. There are just enough sunbeds around the pool when the hotel isn’t quite full, but guests seem to reserve them (with the help of pool attendants) before 8am and then hardly use them which seems unfair. There aren’t enough umbrellas so the beds with umbrellas always get reserved before breakfast. The breakfast buffet was just adequate, but quite poor compared to hotels of a similar standard, with a reduced range of dishes. There is only one restaurant and half board just includes the dinner buffet which, again, isn’t the best (no live cooking stations). The rice and curry dishes were the tastiest we thought, but as this is usually the cheapest dinner option in Sri Lanka, made the price paid seem poor value. It is possible apparently to eat at one of the Anantara restaurants next door, and have the meal charged to your Avani room, but this isn’t advertised and there doesn’t seem to be any credit given there for half board already paid for (although we didn’t ask). The indoor seating in the restaurant was too bright for an atmospheric dinner and made it seem more like a canteen, but the outside covered seating was better. We were more than happy to fill our own water bottles from a dispenser (which seems common practice in other Asian countries we have visited) but there is only one dispenser in the entire resort (in the gym). Although staff are happy to give you more water in your room, it seems such a waste to generate empty bottles (even though they were mostly glass).

We as to clean our room after we drop glass bottle on the floor and have a lot small glass around the room. We requested 3 times clean the room because every time they left glass in the room and we still find the glass after third cleaning. I think it's important to react from the first time because it's glass. I informed the receptionist about the incident and asked if you would like to clean the room??? Really what they think?

I was deceived into believing the hotel was 5 stars and booked at a high price, but after checking in, I discovered it was only 4 stars, which is unacceptable on Booking.com.

I demand compensation for the value and a refund of the amount.

Staff who was in charge for life guard service had a very bad behaviour and also the facility given by them was very poor, a person who was there said us that we can’t enter the pool area without pool dress but they haven’t mention it before we book the hotel, that person didn’t care us he was only using the phone and spent his tym when we ask for tsome helps he didn’t care our words and the word he used to speak with us was very rude and bad words… hotel was good but because of the guys who was there hotels reputation is getting down, we planed to stay 2 days but because of his behaviour we canceled the planings on that day and stayed only one day I kindly inform to the manger to check this guys habbits and get a good decision other wise ur hotels name will be spoiled

Upea paikka niemekkeen kärjessä. Huone oli upea, samoin yleiset tilat. Allasalue erinomainen. Ruoka oli äärettömän hyvää, eritoten jälkiruokana ollut pudding/crumble oli herkullista! Aamupala- ja illallisbuffeteista löytyi jokaiselle jotakin maistuvaa. Kuntosali oli oikein hyvä, positiivinen yllätys. Henkilökunta oli äärettömän ystävällistä ja huomaavaista, kiitos jokaiselle!

Aurinkopedit varattiin heti aamulla pyyhkein, jolloin joku paikka saattoi lojua varattuna ja tyhjänä parikin tuntia myös keskellä päivää. Mielestäni tämä on epäreilua muita kohtaan - jos lähdet pois niin vapauta paikkasi jollekin sitä tarvitsevalle. Toivottavasti henkilökunta ottaisi tähän paikkojen varaamiseen eri toimintamallin, vaikka se olisikin haastavaa.

Avani is located in a beautiful setting, designed to ensure you can enjoy the nature around. The staff are friendly and professional, they provide exceptional service. There is a wide variety on offer at the buffet breakfast and they make changes daily to provide different choices.

This is one of the best hotels I have stayed in across the world - and we are lucky to have stayed in many amazing places. Wouldn't change a thing.

Positiv hervorzuheben ist die Freundlichkeit des Personals; das Essen war okay. Insgesamt konnten diese Aspekte die zahlreichen Mängel und die damit verbundene Beeinträchtigung des Aufenthalts jedoch nicht aufwiegen.

Wir hatten vom 23.–30. Dezember einen Aufenthalt in einer Pool Suite im Avani Kalutara Resort. Die zahlreichen sehr guten Bewertungen haben bei uns hohe Erwartungen geweckt, die während unseres Aufenthalts leider in keiner Weise erfüllt wurden. Das Hotel entsprach weder dem Preis von rund 3.500 USD noch dem Anspruch eines Fünf-Sterne-Resorts. Die Zimmer waren deutlich abgewohnt, und sowohl Zimmer als auch privater Pool waren bei Ankunft stark verschmutzt. Der private Pool war dauerhaft kalt, lag komplett im Schatten und war nicht beheizbar – somit während des gesamten Aufenthalts unbenutzbar, obwohl er ein zentrales Buchungskriterium war. Zusätzlich war der Hauptpool durch Day-Pass-Gäste extrem laut und überfüllt, ohne erkennbares Eingreifen des Personals. Auch organisatorisch gab es erhebliche Probleme mit Vorauszahlung und Zahlungsnachweisen, die mehrere Urlaubstage belasteten. Trotz mehrfacher Beschwerden vor Ort wurden keine nachhaltigen Lösungen gefunden. Insgesamt eine sehr enttäuschende Erfahrung, die wir in dieser Preisklasse nicht erwarten würden

I’m quite particular about cleanliness, and I noticed that the bottom of the shower cubicle could be cleaned a bit more thoroughly. I also wanted to share a small suggestion regarding the bathroom layout. The shampoo and shower gel are placed outside the shower cubicle, so stepping out during a shower makes the floor wet. Having a small rack or holder inside the shower cubicle would be very convenient and help keep the bathroom dry. Felt buffet Varity can be improved as well. but breakfast was good.

The buffet restaurant was below average in terms of variety and quality of food of a hotel of this calibre and the price which they were asking for the buffet for both breakfast and dinner.

For the first time in my life, I can honestly say one thing: in this hotel, several times our wishes were fulfilled before we even managed to say them out loud. We have never experienced anything like this anywhere else. The staff are incredibly kind and attentive. You can truly feel that they perceive you and try to anticipate what you might need… Incredible!! We must also express our sincere thanks to Mr. Rishman Doole, who helped us a lot when my partner got sunburned. He immediately arranged for healing products to be delivered to our room. Thank you very much! 😊 We also have to mention the cooking classes. A wonderful experience, during which—under the guidance of Mr. Nipuna Laksan—we cooked amazing Sri Lankan food, and the experience was unique. Our guide during the cooking was Mr. Hashan, who revealed to us the secrets of the local cuisine. For us, it was truly a special experience. The only slight negative is one of the hotel’s tuk-tuk drivers — I believe his name is Mr. Jambo. A typical driver who offers you cheap transportation and then takes you to tourist traps (herbal garden, river safari) where he gets commissions and everything is overpriced (you can arrange it much cheaper). Be careful with him — don’t go anywhere with him or it will cost you several times more. The transportation price is not everything. Otherwise, this hotel provided a truly exceptional experience! We will definitely recommend it to all our friends who travel to Sri Lanka.

Удобные кровати, чисто, завтрак нормальный, есть выбор блюд из ланкийсуой кухни и так де европейской, не большой выбор фруктов, ужин возможно имеет смысл взять, выйти за пределы отеля найти ресторан рядом не получится. На ужин нет морепродуктов, что странно, но также представлены ланкийская и европейская кухня. Можно найти что поесть, но более одного раза я бы не стала брать ужин. Мы остановились на 1 ночь, перед вылетом.

Пляж очень грязный, волны очень сильные, но возможно нам не повезло с погодой. Здание уже требует реновации, это хорошо видно из части номеров. Вечером (были в субботу) музыка, что-то типо дискотеки, если вам интересно, то сюда, если вы хотите релакса, то не получается, слышно во всех местах.

Everything was great. Room was clean and comfy. Staff were exceptional. Specially Achini, Oshan and shashini at the restaurant were extremely helpful and caring. Kids Club was a great experience for our kid as well. Definitely visit again soon

The property itself was lovely and the room was very spacious and clean.

I felt that the staff could have been more knowledgeable and proactive. It is overpriced for what you get especially the spa and recreation facilities. Food quality was ok but expected more for the price.

Bel resort in cui rilassarsi dopo il viaggio in aereo o dopo un tour e posto in una posizione molto tranquilla ma solo ad 1,5 km dalla strada principale. Molto bella e pulita la piscina da cui si potra' vedere l'oceano. Le stanze sono ampie e molto puliite e, piu' in generale, la struttura nel suo complesso e' molto curata. Tutto lo staff e' molto attento e gentile e la colazione e' super.

L'unica pecca, ma non dipende dalresort, e' che non si puo' entrare nell'oceano perche' e' sempre molto agitato ed il colore non e' dei piu' invitanti.

The hotel is far below expectations and does not meet the five-star standard. It can be considered a 3-star or lower. Lizards are widespread everywhere, even inside the rooms. The hotel is crowded with very annoying residents, and their loud voices disturb the atmosphere. There is a lot of noise inside the bedrooms. Privacy is lacking, and there are people standing behind the hotel walls trying to engage in suspicious conversations. I would not recommend it at all for tourists.

We check in for our honeymoon and we really been welcome great ,the staff was attentive and great service,we get great service with dinesh housekeeping he surprise us with towel monkeys ,towel small dogs it was really nice his decoration on the bed and he was really charming and response really fast .he must be get a promo how he work .

We have some little issue with our room of the welcoming it was not on our expectations,we have pool that was not working ,we have tea cup issue,bath tub issue not clean ,but the hero dinesh was their to sort all things great..kept it up ..

Location is absolutely stunning. Staff is super helpful and kind. We stayed at the ocean view pool suite– it was lovely– private pool with a beautiful view (and privacy)! 10/10.

Location. The staff in the main restaurant was nice.

Many facilities were not available stating off season. The form desk wasn’t very helpful. We wanted a soda as we had some stomach upset, we asked this as 11.42 PM, we’re told that the Bar is closed. The bar was supppse to close at midnight, but soda is something that should be available outside of the bar. Most of the restaurants were shut stating off season.

Wonderful place with wonderful staff and really enjoyed the vacation.

The Rooms were very spacious, clean, and comfortable. The check-in process was excellent, and the front desk staff were very attentive. The housekeeping and restaurant staff were very helpful. Had a nice variety of food at the breakfast buffet.

The only thing we felt lacking in lift facility to the rooms. We managed to use the stairs with ease.
