Price is high but facilities not great

Rooms weren’t clean, pretty outdated. Photo’s on the site do not look like the hotel.

Erg behulpzaam personeel. Ik werd heel goed geholpen met het terugvinden van mijn telefoon die in de tuktuk was blijven liggen door de hoteleigenaar.

The owner was very helpful and generous. Does everything to make you feel welcome. And the breakfast and pool are terrific.

The facilities are all outdated, which makes it a little overpriced.

Prachtige locatie! Aan zee, een fijn zwembad, ruime schone kamer en elke dag schoonmaak en nieuwe handdoeken. Als je wilt zwemmen krijg je speciale badlakens. Het personeel is heel vriendelijk en gastvrij en ze willen je met alles helpen. Ze kwamen zelfs naar ons toe op het strand met vers gevangen vis en of we er iets van wilden eten. Dit hebben ze voor ons klaargemaakt. Het ontbijt, lunch en diner zijn sowieso top. Een heerlijke plek om te verblijven!

Sehr sehr netter Hotelbesitzer .Habe meinen Reisepass vergessen er hat ihn mir 30 km entfernten Hotel vorbeigebracht . Gutes Essen ,toller Strand .

Very nice place, basically on the beach, close to the town and the crocodile safari. Very friendly owner and all the staff. Fresh seafood with reasonable price. We can really recommend it.

Läget var bra precis bredvid en egen privat strand! Varje rum har en egen balkong. Bra aircondition och relativt tysta rum.

Upplevde rummet ofräscht, framförallt badrummet var inte helt rent och luktade avlopp. Maten var väldigt enkel och till exempel juicerna inte alls goda. Solstolarna var gamla och de flesta trasiga, vilket gav ett tråkigt intryck. Ägaren var påstridig och upplevdes sur när vi valde att göra aktiviteter utanför hotellet. Högt pris jämfört med vad du får.

De eigenaar is zeer vriendelijk, we voelden ons erg welkom! Privéstrand was een fijne plek, personeel was erg behulpzaam. Wij sloten onze reis hier af maar hadden hier best nog wat meer nachtjes willen blijven!

Nette Unterkunft direkt am Strand. Frühstück war lecker und Personal auch nett und hilfsbereit. Wir hatten die Unterkunft als Stopp vor unserer Rückreise genutzt. Da unser Flug erst spät am Abend ging, lies der Besitzer uns noch länger im Zimmer verweilen.

Reasonably spacious room with a generous balcony. Proximity to beach. Very friendly staff. There was a cock up with our booking (not our fault). The host sorted this out by putting us up in another hotel for one night and fed us for free that first day - good resolution.

The dogs hanging about all the time pestering us.

This would have been a 10 if not for the pushy owner. The location was amazing, on the beach, and the small(ish) pool was lovely too. Shower was cold for two days however and pillows were pointless as so small. Lunch was great, we ate lunch twice. Breakfast was tasty but 2500 LKR was very expensive for what you got compared to other places in Sri Lanka. Didn’t eat dinner (see below)

I’ll start with the cold shower and the minimal pillows, both not what you want from a place worth $50 a night. And then I can say the main thing. The owner was one of the most pushy and in the end rudest people I’ve ever come across. Initially he was lovely and friendly but despite us having lots of beers and wine during the day and lunch, when we stated we were meeting friends at Red Lobster down the road (10/10 food) he got very rude and did not talk to us. The second night he was basically forcing a fish platter on us and he was saying live music tonight. We again felt so pressured to eat and when he said the price of food it was twice the price of their lunch menu. When we got back their live music night was outrageous and so loud. It was just the owner and the DJ there smoking and drinking and no care for the rest of the property. Of all guests staying I felt we would have been most up for a night of music so I can only imagine how the other 8 rooms felt when the music was still pumping at 2am with only the boss himself there. We checked out at 8am and the boss just walked past us multiple times without saying thank you for staying or goodbye and was talking to others. This was because we didn’t spend so much money on his fish platters. Just brought our whole feel of the place down.

Nice and clean place with a private beach access and pool. Owner and staff are super friendly. Spacious room with nice warm shower and good bed. The restaurant serves good food. Had a lovely breakfast on the beach. Nicely decorated area with lights in the trees. Room has a little sheltered balcony.

We really enjoyed staying at Coconut Bay. The owner was very kind and took us on a wonderful excursion. The location is perfect.

We stayed for one night and didn’t have hot water for shower, but I understood that it was a malfunctioning that day.

За пределами территории отеля на пляже довольно много мусора. Достаточно высокие цены в меню, но рядом есть хороший ресторан с такими же ценами и гораздо большими порциями. Так же во время проживания батарея сейфа разрядились и мы не могли достать из него вещи, однако менеджер отеля помог нам с этим

Beautiful views of the ocean .. peaceful location, clean, spacious, child friendly, pool was clean and well maintained. The staff were super friendly and accommodated us throughout! We even used the kitchen to make food we shared with the staff. The hotel had a couple of events on a village staff party and a New Year’s Eve party which is so memorable! Thank you for being super friendly, I truly am still missing our stay.

Fairly remote but it was a beautiful location

Dejligt sted helt nede på stranden. Rent og pænt og dejlige omgivelser. Lækkert at kunne sidde på altanen og nyde solnedgangen. Ejer er god til at arrangerer ture og hjælper med det, man har behov for. Kokken laver lækker mad og vi fik meget frisk fisk, kan kun anbefales.

The room the bathroom the noise was unbearable no sleep well very little and my credit card charged over double. No help from booking.com there useless I’m not going to use them booking.com again I suggest you don’t.

The hotel is located in a charming place—right on the ocean shore, and we had a room with an ocean view. The room was always clean. There is a wonderful kitchen- chef who fulfills all your wishes—the food is very tasty, with fresh seafood available. The hotel also offers transportation services and organizes excursions. On one of our day trips, we were taken by the owner himself—it was very interesting, and he also told us more about the region, etc. The owner is very attentive and genuinely cares about whether everything is good. Overall, everything was very nice. For us, the biggest downside was the owner being overly persistent in encouraging us to use the services they offer. Also, one of the employees during breakfast didn’t allow us to eat in peace—he wanted to talk and stood there watching us eat, until I finally asked him to leave. But overall great place to stay.

The issue was not as above questions. they msg 3 days prior to our travel stating they dont have space for this. i requested alternate and then they revert to me on the day of travel saying they have found a space. i had to cancel my trip which was terribly disappointing

If they wanted to renovate room alloted to me they could have informed me well in advance. not after the payment cutoff date.

Нам очень понравился наш номер и вид из окна (угловой номер на третьем этаже). На территории отеля был бассейн. На пляже стояли шезлонги, персонал бесплатно выдавал матрасы и полотенца к ним. Также в отеле был ресторан, можно было покушать в любое время на берегу океана) Отель расположен на песчаной косе, в отдалении от других отелей, поэтому шум был только от волн)

Инфраструктура в этой части города развита плохо. В стороне от пляжа нашего отеля было много мусора.

I arrived and was very disappointed with what I found. I'm not sure how there are so many reviews of 9 and 10 stars. I cant really comment as I decoded not to stay. I paid for one night and the owner kindly let me cancel. It just did not meet my expectations and didnt feel very safe. I feel it is overpriced. I moved to a five star hotel that wasn't a lot more and included a lovely breakfast.

Nilanthas kennt die schönen Plätze in Sri Lanka und davon gibt es viele und er weiß, was für Touristen interessant ist. Er hat uns auch schon früher auf Touren durch Sri Lanka geführt. Er ist sehr aufmerksam und hat uns an viele schöne Orte geführt. Er versucht immer, die Wünsche seiner Gäste zu erfüllen. Eine Tour mit ihm ist immer zu empfehlen.

Die Hotelanlage ist sehr gepflegt und sauber.Die Sonnenuntergänge vom Hotelgarten direkt am Strand einzigartig

very nice staff, ambience and view. felt like home

we booked b&b, however we didn't receive breakfast. nothing much to complain as we loved everything about the hotel

The room was lovely, had a balcony that looked right out onto the sea. Very clean. Staff were very welcoming and helpful.

There was karaoke past midnight one night and then when it stopped some drunk locals carried on singing until 2/3am which maybe would have been funny on any other day but we had a wedding to go to that morning so really wanted some sleep. Zero soundproofing in the room and the aircon was blowing directly on the bed and we couldn't adjust the angle/flow rate, pillows were pretty poor. No sleep for us. We left early for wedding duties and had to climb out of a window as all the doors were locked and we couldn't get out, no one around with a key or anything 😂

Big rooms & balcony , clean comfy large bed , swimming pool , fabulous staff made us feel at home & part of their family , wonderful food , lovely sitting outside to eat dinner with lights in the trees …….

Nothing negative to say about the property only the beach has a lot of rubbish there .

Cleanliness is very important and beach is dirty with lots of MT bottles and plastics. Owner has dog living in hotel which is poo in font of our room. Lots locals drinking alcohol during the afternoon till late which make us uncomfortable and unsafe. I assume this hotel is designed to locals because unfriendly neibourhood.

We were there just 4 days, but this was the greatest time for us 6. Suneth, the cook did everything to make us feel good. It was very heartwarming for us. The entire stuff was very friendly, and we feel like one from the family. I recommend much this hotel 🤗

The hotel and staff are lovely. Nothing is too much trouble. They can arrange excursions which are better than others online and also offer to cook specific meals if required. The weekly BBQ is great with music and dancing. The resident dog is lovely and friendly and keeps the strays in line. We witnessed turtles hatching on the beach when we were there which was amazing

The hotel location is simply perfect! Nice beach with almost no people. Additional compliments to the chef - all food is extremely tasty, made from fresh ingredients with passion and love!

Our stay at Hotel Coconut bay was great. We spent our last three nights in Sri Lanka here and it was nice; the room was clean and modern, the reception was nice and the food was lovely. The beach that comes with it is incredible, it was pretty much a private beach to yourself which was very relaxing. The beds were fine, they had cushions to go onto the beds but needed to double or triple them up as they are thin but did the trick. The breakfast was great, with a western choice or Sri Lankan choice but the Sri Lankan omelette was amazing. Comes with fresh fruits, coffee, toast and a freshly made smoothie. Lunch and dinner were ok, it’s the same menu for both meals but some of the options on the menu were not available which would have been nice to know before hand. However the service is good. Nihal was probably one of the most hard working person I have met. He was there to greet us and was there all day for us. He works from 6am till way past you go to bed and this did not affect his service in anyway. Honestly, anything you’re needing he’ll sort it out. The owner is a lovely guy who always had a smile on his face when seeing you. He has really put money into the place to make it look great, especially at night when all the colourful lights come on. His Labrador is very very sweet too. The sea is harsh, there is a strong current right in front of the hotel but walk right to the rocks and you are able to swim there but it is still strong so please be careful. The owner has put a pool in but it was in the final stages of completion when I was there so we weren’t able to use it. The room was clean and comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. The shower looks very fancy which was nice but the water pressure was very low compared to the other home stays we stayed at, but it was able to get quite hot which was amazing. There is a supermarket 10 minute walk away and was amazing to go in. There is a pharmacy, liquor store and bakery there which very tasty.

Location is great, right next to the beautiful beach. View from the balcony is amazing. Room is clean and has everything you need. Nilantha is very friendly and will do anything to make you feel like at home. It was a wonderful experience!

The daytrip with the host was very nice and we could explore a lot. Food in the hotel was delicious. We really enjoyed the boat trip, the herbal garden, the turtle rescue station and the buddhist temple.

The beach could be more family friendly.

Beautiful location. Friendly staff and great food. We booked a large room for 3 people. Very large room with 1 king size and 1 large bed with a balcony view. Thank you, Nilantha, for great hospitality and welcoming. Smith for great food. Nihal for the service. And nalin viraj for the entertainment :)

Our room had a beautiful view on the see and a big balcony. There is a hugh private beach. The beds are good and the towels are very nice. the owner gave us a very good massage. Food was good.

The house and its furniture is rather old, in total it is a middle class hotel, and the price is okay for that standard (I would give 2 stars for German standard, but it is not a 3 star hotel for European standard). The owner always wants to make good business at a high price, and we had to say "no thanks" you very often. The airport shuttle he provided to us was much too expensive, you should bargain before you book. The same with massage. So if you are aware that it is not a top hotel and if you deal the prices for extra service, it is a good hotel. The price for 2 nights with breakfast you get at "booking.com" is okay for that. It is half an hour walk to town so better take a TukTuk for shopping etc. We stayed for 2 nights in July 2024 - there was a pool without water in it.

Fantastic location right on a quiet, beautiful beach surrounded by palm trees, the hotel is small, the staff are friendly and helpful, the chef is present all day so you can order food when you are ready rather than at set meal times, indoor and outdoor dining or room service. Bedroom was large with a really comfortable bed and balcony overlooking the sea with balcony furniture provided as well as air con and a fridge. The hotel owner Mr Nalanthi was a funny, kind and generous man who also does a lot of charitable work in the community, he always checked asked if we were happy and had everything we wanted when he saw us moving through the hotel.

good location to relax

Hotel on the beach . Room spacy. Dinner -as you wish. On weekends life music. Before visit to Sri Lanka , I find out a lot off information in chats about visiting places . But decided to book everything when arrived to Hotel. And I do not make a mistake. Hotel owner everything offered and prices the same . So I have seen a lot of more than decided to see. City Kandy, elephants , turtles , tea manufacture, fishing in deep sea , temples ,folk dances. And everything with guide . Really it was one off the best places for holiday. BR Ovidijus

Nilantha and his staff gave every effort to make our stay enjoyable. Nothing was too much trouble. They even helped us Aussie beginners fix up our Sri Lankan/Indian outfits for the wedding we attended at a nearby resort. The hotel is on the peninsula's best little beach - a quiet, almost private cove. We really enjoyed the hospitality, especially on our first night when a musician/singer entertained us all for free over dinner, and people of all nationalities enjoyed a dance. Then there's Nilantha's community work. His hotel helps support 2 local orphanages (a humbling experience to visit) as well as other local micro businesses. We encourage people to stay at the hotel and support Nilantha's charitable endeavours.

This is a family run business. They really try hard to make you feel comfortable, nothing is too much trouble for them. All very friendly from owner to staff. Its a quiet location, right by the beach. So you can hear the waves at night if you happy to open the balcony door ( which risks some mosquitoes coming in, but you can use repellent). Day time you can relax in the shade on lounger right by the beach and enjoy a shake or whatever as hotel right behind you. Its not the most beautiful beach, but its perfect if you only have a few days to spare and want to be close to Colombo. You can also make day trip to Bentota, which is a beautiful long beach, only 20-30 minutes drive. Or you can roam around Kalutara beach and explore.

On first night they had the music from the outside bar quite loud, but I went down and asked if it could be turned off- which they did. You want to enjoy the quietness of the place, there is no need for music at night. You can tell them and they will turn it down or off. Really, the bar is not necessary in that place; it just spoils the atmosphere.

The owner and all the staff care about making your stay as perfect as possible. Nothing is too much trouble. We went for the all inclusive but wasn’t expecting to be able to order whatever we wanted off the menu, whenever we wanted. Incredibly relaxing break.

Nothing about the hotel but be careful if you go to a herbal garden.

Fabulous hotel for quiet relaxing stay. Right on the beach. Loungers, mattresses , towels all supplied. No need to ask they bring them straight out to you. Fabulous friendly service. Restaurant on site for whatever you want. Loved it here.

Room television not working. Lack of enough electric sockets for the use of square pin plugs. No fridges in some rooms. Could do with a bedside table. No tea bags / coffee in the room but only had a kettle.

The owner and staff were very helpful and they always made sure we had everything we needed. The location is amazing, right in front of the beach with amazing views. The room and the beach were very clean. Also the food was very tasty. We loved the fresh juices! I recommend this place! Thank you!
