An absolutely beautiful stay at Anantara Kalutara Resort. The setting is truly special, surrounded by nature with stunning views of the lake and ocean. You can hear the birds singing alongside the sound of the waves, creating a peaceful atmosphere where you can genuinely disconnect and enjoy the beauty of Sri Lanka’s nature. The rooms were excellent—beautifully designed, comfortable, and equipped with high-quality amenities. The resort itself blends perfectly into its natural surroundings and offers a wonderful sense of space and tranquility. The breakfast buffet was another highlight. The staff and the head chef gave us exceptional attention and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we wanted. The hospitality was genuinely outstanding. A special mention to Suranga for an amazing massage, which was one of the highlights of our stay. .Overall, Anantara Kalutara is a wonderful place for anyone looking for nature, tranquility, beautiful rooms, excellent service, and genuine Sri Lankan hospitality. Hearing the birds and ocean together while surrounded by nature is an experience in itself

The Italian restaurant was very good, although I found it a little expensive compared with the overall dining experience

The amout of activities was very impressive, the spa was amazing and the food as definitely a highlight. The spa staff Dr. Tharushi was so kind and so professional, as well as the massage theraphist Rasika and another of who's name I don't remember, they simply made our stay more enjoyable, and on top of that the restaurant staff was exceptional, Kalana, Sashitha and Banukha was trully so kind and welcoming and would go out of their way to make up feel comfortable, The rooms was so clean, and the noise was so calming and quiet.

The genuine warmth and attention to detail from every staff member made us feel like valued guests rather than just another booking.Every meal was beautifully presented and consistently delicious, with a fantastic variety of local and international dishes.We are so glad we could celebrate my mother in law's 90th at this special place. They went above and beyond to make this very special for our entire family.

Conveniently located, Anantara two bedroom pool Villa residence was the perfect spot for a whole family unwind. Hospitality from the start to end was brilliant. We would like to thank all front office personnel including the manager Lashan, our villa host Krish and everyone else who never disappointed us - whenever we needed something they were proactive. There was no need to request a buggy when needed; their active observation was commendable. Dilan not only looked after our house keeping needs, he also made sure we were surprised with his towel animal making skills whenever he cleaned the villa while we were out at meals. Food was truly beyond expectations and we would like to thank the Food and Beverage manager Kalpani for walking an extra mile to keep us satisfied in every possible way each and every time we walked into Olu restaurant. Chef Wishwa and Chef Isuru had worked hard on a special lamprais meal for our lunch and it was simply out of this world. Special thanks goes to Chirantha, Imasha, Ishara, Methmini and all members of the Olu restaurant team for never disappointing us with their exceptional service. We would also like to thank Nuwani and Nadeeshani in the kids club for being thoughtful, caring and such heartwarming girls - there wasn't a single time our little one would agree to leave the kids club with us at any cost. All in all, our holiday in Anantara this year was made memorable by the amiable and the most helpful staff we have ever seen in a hotel and we never had a holiday experience with nothing to complain. So this experience was worth every single penny and we will definitely be going back to Anantara when we are back in Sri Lanka next summer too.

Our 3 day Stay at Anantara Kalutara Resort was nothing short of a Dream! This is a 5 Star beautiful Hotel, designed by Geoffrey Bawa and right at the moment you arrive, everything feels magical! We were welcomed with lovely traditional Sri Lankan dancers and drink that made us feel truly happy, they also blessed us when we left.. Our Ocean view Room was Beautiful, spacious and so comfortable, with every amenity imaginable.. a special thank you to Eranga at housekeeping who was so pleasant during our stay and just amazing, he provided us with everything , every day of the stay.. The entire property is very uniquely designed, with luxury, gorgeous views all around that mixes tradition and modern architecture perfectly.. We were so impressed, we loved the Geoffrey Bawa Library and spent much time in there and couldn't get enough of the property! The surrounding gardens, walkways, and paths are all beautifully maintained and where do I begin about the Stunning Pool? This is the Best pool we've swum in at great hotels, and the 2nd pool in the Ocean wing is very pretty as well. Likewise, the Gym is fully equipped with everything and we enjoyed our time there every morning! A very special mention and huge thanks to Shamal, the Assistant Front Office Manager who is so welcoming and goes out of his way to please guests, he service is exceptional, Courteous and excellent in Guest handling, right down to the detail.. Also Sulakkana at front office is lovely . The Staff at the Olu Restaurant is superb as well. We loved the food at the Restaurant , the breakfast buffet is the biggest spread ever and it has all you could wish for, really delicious food and a great job done by all the Chefs. Every meal was delicious, and there was a wonderful selection of both International and Sri Lankan dishes and the Egg hoppers are a must try! We were thankful to the amazing staff at OLU Restaurant. Kalpani, the F & B Manager is outstanding, warm, friendly and her entire team, Ishara, Vinushi, Sasupun, Iran and Imasha went out of their way to make every day of our stay So Beautiful that my wife was in tears when we left .. Sasupun specially was truly a hard working, Exceptional asset to their team, always smiling and willing to keep all the guests as his first priority. The Italian Restaurant Acquolina was Superb too and Bhanuka does a great job along with the great chefs there, we had the Italian pork diavolo pizza and Garlic Prawn Speghetti and it was Delicious! Another mention is the Anantara Spa! We had a foot Reflexology massage that was really a heavenly experience. The best we have had in any 5 Star hotel yet! Niroshinie and Hansini are exceptional Massuers, and we enjoyed our treatment.. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the incredible staff here. Every single team member greeted us with warm, genuine smiles, kindness, and great professionalism. They went above and beyond to make us feel truly welcome and ensured that every moment of our stay was special. Their warmth and attention to detail truly made all of the difference. A special thank you to Niliniya, who looked after us with such kindness and professionalism throughout our stay. Every member of the staff was incredibly friendly and genuinely passionate about what they do. The room was stunning, the food was absolutely amazing, and every meal was worth every bite. Our son also loved the Aliya Kids Club—it's beautifully maintained, offers plenty of fun activities, and the staff there were fantastic. To make our stay even more memorable, we were given a beautiful blessing upon departure. It was a touching way to end an unforgettable holiday. We booked two rooms for us one for dressing for the wedding and one for honeymoon stay. Everything was as expected and beyond. Staff was friendly since the day one of the booking and helped with so many things. And the breakfast was outstanding and enjoyed the multi cultural foods with so many flavors. Highly recommend for some one who’s looking for a honeymoon getaway

If it wasn't for the pool with stunning views over the lagoon with rare birds, it would be for the excelent staff that really makes service personal or the great food. We will certainly be revisiting this lovely hotel.

We stayed in a Pool Villa, and the bedroom was absolutely wonderful—luxurious, spacious, and perfectly appointed. It felt like our own private sanctuary. The culinary experience was equally impressive, as the food was consistently great, offering fantastic flavors and variety throughout our stay. What truly sets this resort apart, however, is the perfect customer service. Everything we asked for was properly organized flawlessly and with a smile. The entire front desk team was incredibly professional and welcoming, ensuring our stay was seamless from the moment we arrived. We would like to extend a huge thank you to some exceptional staff members who went above and beyond to make our stay extra special. I visited this hotel with my family on 2nd July for my daughter’s birthday and my daughter and I had a massage at the spa. We had an amazing experience, the ladies who did our massages were so friendly, kind and professional. They made experience special and did one of the best massages we have had. Thank you ladies. We also had lunch at the hotel in the main restaurant, wow! Fantastic food, great choices and so much to eat. The chef and all the staff were so helpful and made us so welcome. We had our wedding at Anantara, and it turned out to be a beautiful experience. Everything went smoothly. Thilakshi was really helpful and efficient in communication to make sure everything happened on time. Mr Priyantha was also incredibly supportive in making the day beautiful. We recently celebrated my birthday at the hotel for the second consecutive year, and this visit was even more special because we were joined by the newest member of our family—our infant. It truly felt like coming back to a place that cares about its guests. From the moment we checked in, everything was seamless. We stayed in a Deluxe Lagoon View Room, and it exceeded our expectations once again. The room layout is ideal for young families. Even after setting up the travel cot and unpacking all the baby essentials, including the sterilizer and feeding equipment, we still had plenty of space. The abundance of conveniently located power outlets was a thoughtful touch, and the spacious bathroom made our stay even more comfortable. The room itself was beautifully maintained, comfortable, and a pleasure to stay in. Now to the food—it was, without a doubt, some of the best we have enjoyed at any local hotel in a long time. This is amazing property in Kalutara with all luxury amenities. All facilities including pool, gym,…etc well maintained. Rooms are well cleaned and maintained. Amazing food arrangement and taste of the foods.

We stayed at Anantara Kalutara resort for two nights and we had a memorable experience. Everything has been extremely smooth from the welcome desk to the final checkout, and all our needs were looked into by the diligent staff. The rooms are spacious and clean, the food is delicious, and the hospitality of the hotel staff was great. Both the food served at the buffet and À la carte was delicious. A special thanks to Shamal, the assistant front office manager, who made sure we had a relaxing stay and attended to all our needs with his exceptional service. Lack of safely and breakfast most of the day served as menue not buffet , plus the restaurants most of the days closed

Restaurants are closed so you have to order only dine in room, no safety and no view of the room

It was a really nice experience from start to end. The staff were very friendly & helpful. The food was yummy. Don't forget to speak to Sajana at the reception & Heshani at the Olu restaurant. They are very helpful & so cheerful.

The resort is spacious, we were staying in ocean facing room # 308. It was upgraded. Staff is polite. However at the end of it, we had a bad incident. On the first afternoon, a pair of sunglasses went missing. And upon arriving in India, we found a perfume also missing. We reported the first incident as mis placement while at the hotel, the second incident seems clear case of theft. The messages to the hotels what's app go no response. Not expected from an expensive hotel like this. I see other 1 star reviews that mention the same

Очень грязный номер со старой мебелью, в отеле - пляжа нет, огромные волны, лежаков нет, пляж городской не оборудованный , территория отеля не ухоженная , когда то отель был не плохой , но это было давно , цена очень завышена и не соответствует предоставленным услугам ! Прямо по территории отеля проходит дорога ,по которой движется постоянно ревущий транспорт тук туки , на против ресторана где проходить завтрак огромное болото пахнет соответственно. Номер по своей категории нам пришлось требовать , персонал не предоставляет номер сразу , который вы оплатили , а хочет подсунуть номер ниже по категории ! заезд был испорчен, ждали 3 часа , заселение ! Каждый день проходит машина и с грохотом обрабатывает ХИМИЕЙ насекомых дышать невозможно !!! С детьми в этом отели вообще делать нечего !! Взрослым тоже нужно двигаться мимо ! Отель не соответствует оценке пять звезд - двоечка с натяжкой !

Location of Anantra is Exceptional. I felt I’m on my own islet. Ocean & sunset view are Amazing. Also all staff are warm & welcoming guests to let them feel they’re in their home. Also breakfast & dinner are amazing

Breakfast was ok. The location is pretty bad, you would hear noises from the mosque all the time. Also the nasty smell is coming from the river nearby, and no proper access to the sea

Stayed at the Anantara for 3 days of relaxation! Wonderful welcome when we arrived. The staff are really attentive and want to ensure your stay is perfect. Breakfast is amazing, great variety. We ate at both the à la carte restaurants and the food was delicious. Happy hour at the bar was a great bonus! Great service from the bar staff, Niplum and rest of the guys. The gardens are immaculate and you can see the pride the gardeners take in their work. Lashan and Sabradu in front of house were really helpful. The spa was wonderful. The pool was fabulous and the pool guys and lifeguards ensure you have a relaxing time. Bed was really comfortable and room clean and spacious. Beautifully built complex. Highly recommend

My stay was made truly smooth and enjoyable thanks to Chathuka’s outstanding support. He was extremely professional, well-informed, and always willing to help, ensuring everything was handled effortlessly from start to finish. His attention to detail and genuine care made a real difference to my overall experience. The food throughout my stay was absolutely delicious, and the restaurant staff were attentive, friendly, and very helpful at all times. I would also like to commend the housekeeping team for their excellent service—they were efficient, kind, and always ensured the room was perfectly maintained. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and Chathuka, along with the entire team, truly reflects a high standard of hospitality. I wish him and the team continued success.

Very clean and staff was extremely pleasant.

The local cuisine was spot on but the Continental food wasn't great. There were also delays when food was ordered from the À la carte menu.

We are staying presently at Antara with our family of 5 Im appalled at the lack of services received. Last nighr thr Ac was not working in both rooms, sti noone fixed it The house keeping took 1 hour for a pillow and fnb took 1 hr for ice I complained to reception and asked for the manager to call me!! Noone did. We met The GM at dinner hoping he would extend some cooperation but nothing was offered Its our anniversary today and instead of giving us a comp meal they had the audacity to call and ask us to book a paid meal with them at their poolside I heard so much about Antara as a brand and chose it over Marriott wellingama. Biggest mistake of my life!!

Hotel is good, bat service not fast, lacks management. Room is very good and spacious. Thank you Ganganath for good service and hospitality!!!🙏 Our room 311 was always well cleaned.👍 Food is not hot (cold). 👎

Great service from Rasindu and Shamilan. They were friendly, patient, and professional the whole time. They paid attention to details and made sure everything was taken care of without us having to ask. The overall experience was smooth and enjoyable because of them. They’re definitely a big plus for the restaurant.

Here at Anantara breakfast buffet has a variety of morning specials catering to the western & eastern pallet. Kalpani, Shahini Thilakshi, Ganganath & the team take good care if us. Keeping an eye on our needs.

We went for lunch and it was delicious!!! Thank you Chef Dilshan and Ganganath for excellent service!! We were well looked after.

We only went for a lunch at the hotel and had shamilan as our waiter, he was wonderful at his work and the service and food was excellent.

Superb resort. Experienced super warm Sri Lankan hospitality by Tharaka in the Ula Restaurant while having drinks and dinner.

It was a perfect wedding day and a honeymoon stay. Hospitality from Kaveeshwara and others at breakfast was beyond expepectations.

My second stay at Anantara Kalutara Resort was just as amazing as the first. From arrival to departure, the hospitality was exceptional, with every staff member being warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The service truly takes luxury hospitality to the next level. Its convenient location, close to Colombo, makes it an ideal and effortless getaway. The breakfast buffet complete with flower shaped hoppers and wide variety of dishes leaves one spoilt for choice. A special thank you to Kaveeshwara Ganganath and many other staff who were incredibly kind, helpful and friendly. I’m already looking forward to my next visit.

Its nice a quiet place to just disconnect and relax

Nothing much to do in the evening, so if u just want to relax and do nothing for a couple of days its fine other than that nothing much.

We had a wonderful stay at the Anantara Kalutara Resort. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed with a traditional dance, which made us feel truly special. The service throughout our stay was extremely attentive, always helpful, and very hospitable. We stayed for a total of three nights, and I must say the resort is beautifully calm, peaceful, and perfect for relaxation. On Christmas Eve, we were looked after by Gianganath, who provided outstanding service. It was also lovely that Santa Claus visited with gifts for the children, which made the evening even more magical. The food was excellent, and the dessert buffet was absolutely amazing 😍. Everyone was very friendly and attentive, and so far our experience has been extremely positive. We have truly enjoyed everything we have experienced here.

This being my 12th stay at Anantara Kalutara Resort, it was wonderful to return for yet another peaceful holiday. The team went out of their way to ensure a truly memorable stay — especially Lashan, Ishara, and Shamal at the Front Office, along with Sanka and Kalpani, whose thoughtful service added a personal touch. Their warmth, professionalism, and genuine hospitality are what keep me coming back.

Had an amazing stay at Anantara. Staff were very hospitable, accomodating and kind. The food was amazing, with a great variety at the breakfast buffet. We spent time at the pool with a friends toddler, and the life guard was hyper vigilant despite the toddler wearing arm floaties which was very appreciated. There were a few issues during check in, but this was quickly fixed. I would absolutely recommend this luxury stay.

Fabulous location The personnal is kind and helpfull. The Room are fabulous, large and with all equipment needed. The swimming pools are beautifull large and clean The restaurants are impressive. All meals are really good and well coocked.

We stayed at this Anantara hotel during our honeymoon in Sri Lanka and it was great! Especially their F&B department, starting from Kalpani and Gianga! They were always very attentive during meals just in case we needed anything, one of the highest valued services we ever received. We have been Anantara’s clients for long now, so if you’re ever in Sri Lanka I would highly recommend Anantara’s Kalutara and Tangalle.

A lovely hotel. Lots of space and immaculately clean. The staff are very helpful and really friendly. A quick shout out to: Pumudith at the pool was very friendly and helpful Lihil and Uneska at reception looked after me so well after I slipped over (also Sulakkhana on reception). Ramodya at the restaurant was lovely and kind. Finally, Dinesh on the concierge desk was great. However, all the staff were brilliant and I can't remember all the names :) I would recommend this hotel without hesitation.
