Hotel Azul de Oaxaca

Abbiamo trascorso 5 notti in questo hotel, utilizzandolo come base per le nostre escursioni quotidiane nei dintorni di Oaxaca, e nel complesso la nostra esperienza è stata molto positiva. La posizione è ottima rispetto al centro di Oaxaca, comoda per raggiungere le principali zone di interesse della città. La struttura è molto bella, curata e pulita, con un’atmosfera particolarmente piacevole. Abbiamo apprezzato molto anche la presenza di opere di artisti locali, che contribuiscono a dare all’hotel un carattere autentico e ricercato. Molto buona la colazione à la carte, varia e di qualità. Lo staff è sempre stato presente, cordiale e professionale, disponibile ad assisterci durante tutto il soggiorno. Non abbiamo avuto occasione di provare la cena, quindi non possiamo esprimere un giudizio sul ristorante serale. Nel complesso, un hotel che abbiamo apprezzato molto e che rappresenta un’ottima soluzione per soggiornare a Oaxaca, sia per visitare la città sia come punto di partenza per esplorare la regione. We spent 5 nights at this hotel, using it as a base for our daily excursions around Oaxaca, and overall we had a very positive experience. The location is excellent in relation to Oaxaca city centre, making it easy to reach the main areas of interest. The property itself is beautiful, well maintained and very clean, with a particularly pleasant atmosphere. We also really appreciated the presence of artworks by local artists, which gives the hotel a distinctive and authentic character. The à la carte breakfast was excellent, with good quality and a nice selection. The staff were consistently attentive, friendly and professional, always available whenever we needed assistance. We did not have the opportunity to try dinner, so we cannot comment on the evening restaurant. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would consider this hotel an excellent choice in Oaxaca, both for exploring the city and as a convenient base for discovering the surrounding area.

L’unico aspetto che abbiamo apprezzato meno riguarda la camera, che non disponeva di vere e proprie finestre verso l’esterno, ma solo di un’apertura affacciata sul cortile interno e sul ballatoio di accesso alle altre camere. Questo rendeva necessario tenere spesso tende o schermature chiuse e, di conseguenza, la privacy non era ottimale. The only aspect we appreciated less was the room layout. There were no proper external windows, only an opening facing the internal courtyard and the walkway leading to the other rooms. This meant we often had to keep the curtains or screens closed, so privacy was not ideal.

Es excelente el hotel, lo único que creo es que no tienen cuidado con el ruido que hacen en las mañanas los empleados, yo me quedé en una suite que da al área de la comida, desde las 6am gente hablando no tienen cuidado con el ruido que hacen, bajaban las escaleras de la terraza que son de metal parecía que a propósito azotaba los pies, tampoco me cambiaron las toallas.

We stayed at Hotel Azul for nine nights and absolutely loved it. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful from start to finish. The hotel itself is beautiful—tastefully designed with a peaceful courtyard and charming details throughout. The location is just about perfect. It’s a quick five-minute walk to the Zócalo, so everything is easily accessible, but it’s also tucked away on a quieter street. Even during Guelaguetza, we had no trouble getting a good night’s sleep. The included breakfast was very good—fresh, well-prepared, and a nice option to have. That said, we didn’t take advantage of it as often as we could have, mostly because we were eager to explore the incredible food scene in Oaxaca. All in all, Hotel Azul was the perfect base camp for exploring one of the most interesting and vibrant cities I’ve ever visited. We’d absolutely stay here again.

El hotel es muy bonito y su personal muy atento

The only negative is that the rooms are a little dark. The lighting is poor. The rooms don’t have open windows. They have blinds that give you some light from the center courtyard but it’s really not enough light.

In addition to being in the beautiful city of Oaxaca, Azul made our stay the most comfortable experience of this trip.

The hotel's location is the best: right in the heart of the city centre and within walking distance of everything around Oaxaca. The hotel's decoration theme is a mixture of modern and traditional. It's located in a typical Mexican colonial building and is decorated modernly and practically. We got vouchers for a mezcal tasting at the hotel bar at check-in, complimentary, which was well thought of. The staff in the hotel were very helpful and warm. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Overall we were very happy with the hotel.

The sink area in the room was quite small. The breakfast options were mainly Mexican breakfasts. Also, we struggled to pay the price of the rooms at the end of our stay and could only convince them by debiting until we checked out.

Los cuartos son terriblemente oscuros. El baño se separa del cuarto con una cortina, lo que es muy poco íntimo. Nunca le han dado servicio al aire acondicionado y genera alergias.

Fuimos a Oaxaca en ocasión de una boda. El hotel Azul tiene una ubicación inmejorable y el personal de recepción son grandes anfitriones: ayudaron hasta para conseguir maquillista y peinadora que me atendiera en el hotel. Otra cosa que disfruté mucho del hotel fueron las bicicletas. Muchas gracias

Loved the location. Quiet, but close to everything. Hotel was clean, comfortable. Staff were helpful, hardworking. Thoughtful. Everyone seems happy to be working there. Breakfast was good. Comfortable pillows. Loved the chirping birds when our windows were open. Rooftop bar was quite nice. Loved the clean lines of the room doors. Loved the water feature in the courtyard. Nice toiletries provided.

Room wasn't ready when we were told it would be. Bed movement is felt when one is shifting or getting up/in. Room is a little dark.

The hotel staff and Mexican food at this hotel were wonderful! It's very walkable and just a couple blocks from the cathedral of Santa Domingo. The toliet in room 4 did not flush well. Except for that 1 thing the hotel was great for the price! There was even a wedding at the hotel while I was there!

I loved the staff and facilities. The breakfast was varied and excellent. The roof bar had an excellent view and atmosphere, as did the breakfast room and courtyard. The architecture included the work of 5 local architects, all stylish and comfortable.

Such tiny things could have been better. Larger water bottles in the bathroom. A rectangular piece of soap rather than a cube.

The room was too dark and needed more light. Had to open the windows for more light. Bathroom also needed more light. Please cover floor outlet in middle of the room as it is a trip hazard. Also need a better cover for the doorstop in the bathroom - easy to get injured. Overall enjoyed the room and hotel.

The bathroom curtain thing wasn’t ideal, but only because I’m traveling with a friend who isn’t a partner. For most people, no biggie.

The breakfast was delicious. I often like to get up and go explore the city and find my own breakfast, but it was quite enjoyable to get up and stumble downstairs for my morning cup of of coffee. The room is quite comfortable and of great size.

The layout of the bathroom makes it for a very small shower space; still manageable though.

The noice from alarm clocks, phones, screening babies and children shouting… Not reliable. Ordered breakfast for 7am because we needed to leave with a group at 7:15. At 7:20 it came. This happened twice. Plus they Ask you to pay extra for one egg for breakfast - there were only few options when breakfast is included (except Sunday that has buffet). Mosquitos in the room.

The size of the room was nice, the staff were very friendly and were very helpful.

If you’d like to sleep in past 7 in the morning don’t book this place, the rooms go onto a courtyard and the door doesn’t give a lot of privacy as there is a small gap at the bottom. This lets in ALL sound from the courtyard which is very echoey. The birds in the morning sing which woke us every morning - I know this is not the hotels fault. But on two mornings there was bins (we think) being emptied and they banging was excessive and staff walking through the atrium talking SO loud. Very frustrating after a long journey and we needed our rest. Could hear all noise from other rooms.

Beautiful hotel with unique rooms. Close to many restaurants and Zócalo. The staff was very kind and accommodating which many hotel chains in the area lack. However the staff here were always a step ahead in meeting your needs. Highly recommend when visiting Oaxaca.

Laundry service: same day service promised by 5 pm, didn't arrive until 5 pm the NEXT day. Difficulty communicating with evening desk clerk, whose English was insufficient for a hotel with English-speaking guests.

En general fue una buena estancia, los únicos aspectos que no me agradaron fueron los siguientes: La puerta del baño de mi habitación estaba descuadrada por lo que al cerrarla se volvía a abrir, era imposible tenerla cerrada, y tampoco tenía cerradura, solo un pasador. La habitación en la que se quedaron mis hijos no tenía puerta en el baño ni en la regadera, solo una cortina, por lo que no hay mucha privacidad, eso me parece muy incómodo.

In the room, there was no door for the toilet or shower area just a large curtain - very strange. Poor natural light into the room without opening the entire window - which is a shame as the courtyard is beautiful. Price was very high but I imagine this was due to Die De Los Muertos holiday. Breakfast choice was average but was very tasty!

Lovely and quiet place near everything! Blocks from the main square with great food. The staff were lovely - even gave us a surprise when they found out we were traveling for our honeymoon. The bartender taught us more about mezcal flavors than we got visiting 3 Palenques - he was very knowledgeable! Clean room, comfy bed, great shower.

Price felt high, but it may be because it was the mid-end of October.

All of the hotel would have been excellent except the day before we were to return we had to deal with a virtual extortion of one of our people in our group. We are convinced it was an inside job of an employee working at this hotel. Security is a big concern so I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for that reason.

The Hotel Azul de Oaxaca provides an exceptional experience. The building is a colonial gem in the heart of the city. It's a short walk to Avenida Macedonio Alcalá with its shops and restaurants, as well as historic Templo de Santo Domingo. At the same time, the property's location is an island of tranquility. Special thanks to the welcoming and attentive staff, from the front desk to the Pío the door man, and the restaurant staff! And speaking of the restaurant, the Azul's Oaxacan cuisine is truly wonderful! Breakfast is memorable, with delicious juices, bread, hot chocolate, and several classic Mexican egg dishes. Dinner is also a delight, with specialties such as quesadillas de flor de calabaza, tasajo, sopa de guias, and a range of moles. The portions are generous, so you will not leave hungry! Congratulations to Hotel Azul de Oaxaca, a paragon of Oaxacan hospitality, comfort, and cuisine!

Tuvimos algún imprevisto con el internet y el aire acondicionado y nos lo resolvieron inmediatamente. La atención de Elizabeth fue muy eficiente. Nos gustó mucho el hotel. El desayuno estaba muy rico.
