Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The Red Tree Lodge was located just off the main highway through Fernie, which was convenient for us as it was close to shops and restaurants. Our room was located on the main floor which was convenient and parking was always available. Our room was spacious and clean and had a tub as well as a shower. Wifi was reliable and easy to access. When we arrived to check in the staff who welcomed us were very cordial and attentive. The White Birch Cafe & Bistro next door served exceptional breakfast and lunch meals that were not your typical fare. The staff were attentive and friendly.
The view from our window was not quite what we would have liked being just off the main highway through town but we could see the mountains.
L’accueil est excellent, propre et bien situé
Location is fine. Walking distance to shopping/restaurant street
Air conditioner works fine but is very noisy.
Staff and location
The cost.
Kinda sucks the hot tub and pool are different ends of the hotel
Location
Very dated
It was convenient to where we were needing to be in Fernie
First time we have stayed at Red Tree and everything was great! Friendly staff and clean rooms.
There was no hot water and our TV in one room didn’t work. The breakfast was disappointing.
The facilities available: good laundry facilities, guest kitchen, movie room, etc. Handy for prolonged stay, or for facilities on a longer trip. I also stayed here last year
Stayed here while on a motorcycle trip. Great service.
The breakfast was fine. Fruit and yogurt. Access to washer and dryer was a great option. Location was walkable to all that we wanted to see. Appreciate the 3 ways to enter the building rather than lugging everything thru front lobby.
Coffee was weak but it was hot.
Attentive and friendly staff. Separate common kitchen area. Ample parking space and other amenities. The Air conditioner was not usable, it was emitting a very bad odor while operating. So could not use it. The hotel staff did not had any de odorizing spray as well.
Caters to hikers, backpackers, cyclists, people who love the outdoors and want to maintain their gear away from home. We loved the super comfy theater/ meeting room and the shared kitchen.
Nice pool and hot tub room. Also have a movie and games room. Lots of thi gs in this hotel. Older but still working just fine.
Great service, clean
The staff was very friendly. They could definitely update their rooms and get new mattresses for the price of the rooms
Dirty OLD rundown. Advertised a smokehouse restaurant. Upon arrival we find out it’s closed down.
Friendly front desk staff.
The indoor hot tub was problematic
The stay was great the rooms were clean and very spacious, the only thing I had an issue with is the pool at one end of the Inn and the hot tub at the other so when having kids it was either or not both pther than that is was a great place to stay
It was a lovely experience
No regular coffee in room (not a big deal) Nice quiet facility, nice sauna/hot tub
It was good.
Close to Elk River and Downtown to walk around. Breathtaking views of mountains for monring coffee. Comfortable beds. Friendly staff overall. Had to unplug rattling air conditioner. Carpets could be replaced.
Didn’t eat but beds comfy. I didn’t like up and down the stairs from separated hot tub and pool areas.
Good
Not a great place for this price!! Breakfast: Expedia mentioned breakfast for this property; however The lodge did not offer breakfast, they do rather breakfast snack such as A muffin, a fruit or a coffee. No eggs, bread, milk, or any other stuff. Swimming Pool: as per hotel policy, they only start after 2 pm and closes early in the evening, that makes no sense as the lodge guests cannot use it. It’s just an eyewash! Restaurant: is non-operational, not knowing the reason. Price: I signed room documents stating a fairly lower price inclusive of Taxes per night roughly two third, while paid higher to Expedia. Not fair!! Feeling cheated!!!! Lodge appears already pricy for the facilities they offered, and Expedia made it worst. From a customer’s perspective you expect better when you pay huge. Additional Comments: paid for 2 similar rooms with Balcony; while I got only 1 room with Balcony. There was around 15% price difference in both rooms when I was booking on Expedia and the same was confirmed by front desk staff. As the Lodge was fully booked, so I had to stay like that. I need the price difference back and some compensation for my inconvenience and false representation done by Expedia.
Very good Has kitchen Nice Will recommend
Excellent staff and location. Fernie is small so nothing is too far away. This lodge was central in town. Really great for travelling with a family with young children and multiple families. Lots of different amenities to make it feel homely. Access to things like communal kitchen, pool and games, movie room and separate sauna/hot tub area. Really attentive hotel for biking with a bike storage room and clean/tune area. Rooms were clean and comfy. Good size with a fridge and microwave and no carpet in the room which was great. Lots and lots of hooks makes it great for hanging everything up from all the activities to do in town! They were fully booked but never felt busy. Would 100% stay again.
Could be cleaner in the common areas. Communal BBQ area has only one picnic table and could use a bit more outdoor seating. The hotel itself was a bit of a maze at first and a bit disjointed, but it's not a massive hotel so it wasn't a big deal. Once you figured out where everywhere, was it was great! Breakfast provided is minimal: muffin fruit and yogurt, coffee/milks so not extensive (but we knew this before hand) but still suitable for us. These were all really minor things that didn't impact our stay, but good to know before hand!
Bedding wasn’t clean and smelled disgusting. Room wasn’t cleaned properly. Definitely won’t be staying here again.
The outside of this hotel lools unassuming but the rooms are fantastic. We had 4 kids with us and they had 3 queen beds in their room. You dont find that most places. The movie theater was sweet! Free laundry too!
It was the last room available so we were happy to have it. The morning continental breakfast could be improved with labeling on the muffins as it was hard to tell what type it was and would help with allergy’s. To-go coffee cups would have been welcomed.
Aging furniture
OK
Great experience over all
Very clean. Beautiful view of the mountians. Be careful picking your parking spot as spaces are different sizes and shapes.
Ok, staff was great! Old motel that needs an update. Restaurant would be nice to have open.
Bed and pillows were comfortable. The sushi and pizza places next door were both good. Front desk staff was excellent. The only toiletries provided were shampoo/conditioner/body wash. Room was older and could have been cleaned a little better, but comfortable enough.
Friendly staff, excellent amenities.
The location is right off of the Main Street passing through Fernie. The rooms are clean and housekeeping was very friendly.
It is a dated hotel and for the facility expensive. What they call a complimentary breakfast is coffee in a carafe, apples, oranges and pre bought muffins. So I would not consider that a benefit to offset the room cost.
I liked the woman who worked at the front she was helpful and relaxed. I liked that there was a pool and hot tub. I liked that the pool area had some fun toys for kids of all ages!
The breakfast is not really a breakfast. I think there should not just be coffee but also juice and water. Also some other breakfast options might be nice.
The girl at front desk when we checked in was very pleasant. However Caterina the girl at front desk the morning of check out was extremely rude!!! She must have phoned the room 6 times along with my cell phone after I spoke with her 20 months ago past check out time of 11 am and continued to harrass and speak very rudely! The a/ c did not work on one of the two rooms I booked. When o asked for some form of compensation she promptly replied “ NO you did not let me know earlier’ I was planning on returning to this property on our way home from Calgary in a week but due to staff and their rudeness along with broken A/C we will never be back! Horrible service and property!
A great place to stay
The bed was very comfortable and clean sheets and towels, bathroom was clean Although the windows and window seals and air conditioning unit was dirty Hotel staff are nice
The staff was very friendly and accommodating after having to change room to main floor due to no elevator and mobility issues. There was also no dining but lots of eatery’s within a short walking distance.
Clean but older hotel. Best price available in town.
Staff were nice and helpful but the place is ageing and wasn’t the cleanest. Bathroom walls and corners were gross, and the towel rack ripped out of the drywall. Should be cleaner for $200+ a night. You can stay at cleaner and nicer places in Fernie for that price.
Very cute hotel. Rooms are not renovated but they are clean, cozy and comfortable and had everything we needed. Pool was so fun with the kids. Wish we were staying longer so that we could have used the theatre, or spent more time in the game room. Will stay here again next time we're in Fernie!
Even though we didn’t use them it is great to have pool and games room, hot tub and sauna.
Not enough parking this long weekend.
The restaurant was closed. Would have been useful information prior to booking.
We thought the property was a little bit of an older building but has been well upgraded. The amenities made up for it!
M
The tv didn’t work. The bathroom sink was very slow to drain.
Clean, quiet, friendly staff, treats for our pet
The entrance into the building was great, the staff person was awesome.
I booked a "superior" room and the furniture was really sub par. We had to have the bottom drawer of the dresser taped so that we would not trip over it. I've stayed at Red Tree numerous times in the past, however NEVER spent $253, like I did this time. Far too costly for a sub par stay.
Front desk staff were great!
it's central location n all the amenities. The room n beds were very clean n comfortable.
nothing
Value for the money.
All the extras: the special gift for my dog, bedding that was breathable and not a rubber mattress or polyester blanket, pleasant staff who were very helpful, well laid out bathrooms, extra amenities, like body wash, shampoo and conditioner, Kleenex, recycling bin, a library/lounge room, decent breakfast.
Staff was friendly and very helpful when checking in. However it was a very disappointing experience! Travelled to have a relaxing weekend to celebrate our engagement. Advertised hot tub was not in service. Day after we arrived the sauna was out of order. Restaurant was closed. Beds were so hard we could hardly move when we got up. And the hot tub & sauna weren’t in service! Breakfast snack was terrible. Dry muffins, a couple pieces of fruit in a bowl. No yogurt as advertised. Coffee was weak like dirty water. Should’ve received a substantial discount when advertised amenities are not available.
I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for comfort, convenience, and top-notch hospitality.
It was easy for me to bring my dog in and out.
Really friendly staff, it was a little quiet so we got a free upgrade. great location which made the price fair.
Even with the upgrade the bathroom was a little worn out. There was a bit of damp on the wall and the silicone was coming away.
We enjoyed that it was really pet friendly. There were so many extras and the price was really nice. It was also really walkable everywhere. We stayed one night passing through.
o
Staff were friendly, helpful, and kind. Facilities provided make the stay so enjoyable such as the laundry and game room.
Unable to move room to first floor. Or unwilling.
Y
It was comfortable and roomy. Very clean. Staff was very helpful
The breakfast could be better.
Beds were very comfortable Rooms were large.
Opening the window to get cigarette smoke waft in . Prefer to use fresh air than AC
Very well equipped with home from home equipment, including guest kitchen. Convenient for downtown.
Location Staff and price
Could need a deeper clean
Pictures showed no carpet and there was!! Bathroom had hair in sink and bathtub.
Red Tree Lodge Fernie BC is a great lodge to stay, so many amazing amenities within the lodge you don’t even need to leave. Staff are all great, friendly and very accommodating if other rooms are available Highly recommend. Spent honey moon and a family vacation here.
Staff is friendly and courteous.
Great
Great spot, close to bars in town
Staff was super friendly, decent breakfast and a good location.
Rooms were incredibly dirty. There was dirt in all crevices of the bathroom, hair in the tub, crumbs and dirt on the floor, pillowcases that we could not sleep on, the list goes on.
Nice room
The staff were amazing and recommended a great dog park and a dog friendly restaurant which was incrediable.
Friendly staff
Sink would not drain. Told the desk as I was leaving.
overpriced
Staff
A lot of ammenities offered, staff is very friendly
The staff at this hotel are all amazing. They were able to accomodate an early check in due to being rained out at the hill. The amenities are plenty. Would highly recommend.
